Disk error on Windows Azure Server
We have one Server 2012R2 machine within Azure.
(3) 1TB drives have been added then a Spanned Volume created across all three disks. We use this disk for Off-Site DFS Replication and a Veeam Backup repository. On occasion we get a System Event:11 Disk error: The driver detected a controller
error on \Device\Harddisk2\DR2.
Is this something that we should be concerned about? Not sure how we can get controller errors on a VM.
Ah so. So I think you can only look at this error. It's correlate with physical disk on virtualization host and you cannot do anything.

QT failed to initialize error -2096 & Windows 2003 Server
I have seen several posting regarding this, but all are related to ITunes. I have Quicktime 7.4.1 installed on a WTS Server and when I try to run it I get the 2096 error. Since 7.4.1 addresses security issues, reverting to a previous version is not an option. Does anyone know how to get Quicktime 7.4.1 to run on WTS running on a Windows 2003 server? The only other option I will have is to remove Quicktime completely. It worked fine prior to version 7.4. Thanks
( I had the same prob. this worked for me..Good luck...)
1.Quit iTunes.
2. Windows XP and Windows 2000: On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
-Windows Vista: On the Start menu, click Computer.
4. In My Computer, open the C:\ drive (or whichever disk your Windows XP is installed on).
5. Open the Program Files folder.
6. Open the iTunes folder.
7. Right-click on the iTunes application (iTunes or iTunes.exe) and from the shortcut menu, click Properties.
8. Click the Compatibility tab.
9. Deselect the checkbox under Compatibility mode if it's selected.
10. Click OK.
11. Open iTunes and play a song. -
Hi, could someone help me solve this - I have a new MacBook 2.2 GHz, and used Boot Camp with
20% partitioned space to install a fresh Windows Home Edition disk. After the first procedures, checking disc 'C' and installation, the message appeared 'Disk Error' and 'press any key to exit'. It wouldn't exit pressing a key, F12 worked though to eject the disk. Which disk is the 'error' - my computer or the installer? I repeated the process which came out the same. Is there a simple answer to this? I also have a parallels disk, would that work better? One more question, do I install the antivirus software directly after the Windows installation?
Thank you to whoever writes back!I read the tutorial printed from Boot Camp which described the problem and how to choose the correct system calles 'FAT'

8.1 install error on Windows Home Server
WHS, which is based on W2k3, is having the same install problem as regular Windows Server 2k3... it fails with the error that the OS must be at least XP SP2.
Is there a new rev of the installer coming out soon to resolve this problem? I used iTunes as my central hub for music in my home and would like to run the new version.
Thanks!I posted a response to the following thread detailing how I was able to get Itunes 8.1.0.51 to install on my computer running Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 Enterprise. It involves editing an MSI file but its a real simple fix that appears to be working just fine. It should theoretically work for you since as you've already noted, Windows Home Server is built of the same Kernel and support files as W2K3.
Here's the thread in which I detail my fix:

Just-In-Time (JIT) Error in Windows 2003 Server Environment
Hi,
I am using the EBS R12.1.1 environment for learning purpose. I am running EBS R12.1.1 on Windows 2003 Server environment on my personal laptop.
I am getting JIT error on FNDLIBR.exe file. This error opens a window and asks me to choose debuggers and by default the MS Visual Studio 2005 debugger is available. This error raises every some time randomly like some time it raises in every 1 min, sometime it raises in every 2 to 5 mins etc. How can I overcome on this error?
Thanks & Regards,
Waqas HassanThanks Mr. Hussein,
I think in learning process i do not need the NLS Patch. So I had a fresh copy of EBS R12.1.1 in VMWare on Windows 2003 Server and now, I am using it without NLS Patch.
Actually I am working on HRMS Setup, in fresh EBS environment there is need to install its legislative data, so I installed it and apply the hrglobal.drv patch according to this document "*Instructions for Running DataInstall/hrglobal.drv on R12 [ID 414434.1]*" but I just skipped only 5th and 6th Step because its about NLS Patch.
I run the 7th step to "*Generate Payroll Dynamic Database Item Translations*" its completed successfully but when I run the 8th Step about "*Bulk Compile Formulas*" its giving error and the error is given below:

I replaced the #BASE# with the actual path ie C:\JavaES5\share\cacao_2 , I also had to set the %PERL5LIB% variable to point to the perl directories that came with ds6 installation. cacaoadm.bat was using this variable to locate the perl scripts, which was poitning to a oracle installation which had different perl script version.
After doing all these I was able to run "dsccsetup initialize" so that completed my installation and configuration. But to my surprise when I accessed the java management console through https:\\localhost:6789
it asked me the user id and passwd, I gave mine as I was the administrator of the system , but it doesn't let me in.
I am really disappointed now that after reaching so far I can't access and manage the directory server through a console. Please help me...I am using Windows 2003 server. Please let me know what user id and passwd shd I use. -

Smart Hard Disk Error on windows 7 notebook
I have a Hp Mini 2100-2190NR running windows 7.
I've had a problem recently where i could not boot windows. I got it fixed using a USB recovery disk.
When i start my computer i get a Smart Hard Disk Error message.
It says it has detected an imminent failure and to back up the content immediately and run the hard disk test in system diagnostics.
Once i run the tests, some got me errors and could not complete them.
I tried using a system restore back to a date and i was able to log into windows. The next day same problem occured and tried another system restore and nothing happened.
Im stuck at the black screen with the microsoft corporation loading bar.
How can i fix this problem?
This question was solved.
View Solution.Hi,
The Smart error message would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced. This is also consistent with the start-up issue.
If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced - you can check your warranty status Here.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know.
Best regards,
DP-K

Disk Cleanup on Windows Storage Server
Hello,
we have NAS with preinstalled Windows Storage Server (Windows 2008). It was shipped with 40GB C: drive (and 2TB on rest of the capacity, RAID 5.
After some months the winsxs directory becomes huge (+16GB) and it literally depleted all empty space. We are running it on 100-300MB free space with no option what to remove.
The KB2852386 cannot be applied, because its for W2008 R2 OS. Any idea how to free up the space?
ThanksHi,
The only way to safely reduce the size of the WinSxS folder is to reduce the set of possible actions that the system can take – the easiest way to do that is to remove the packages that installed the components in the first place. This can be done by uninstalling
superseded versions of packages that are on your system.
So we can use the command “dism /online /cleanup-image /spsuperseded” to cleanup previous versions of Windows Update files.
For more detailed information about WindSxS folder, please see:
What is the WINSXS directory in Windows 2008 and Windows Vista and why is it so large?

Oracle 10g Installation Error on Windows 2008 server
Hi Experts,
I have tried to install Oracle 10g via "51036975 ORACLE 10.2.0.4 Failsafe Server 3.4.1.5 Windows 2008" as per note no. Note 1303262 - Oracle on Windows Server 2008. Server is 64 bit server.
Oracle service is not getting started and showing as "starting" in services.msc. I cant stop the service. I have taken the restart of the server as well but no luck.
Just before the end of installation of Oracle, one pop up box named isqlplussvc opened up stating as "Failed to start the service, Error:0, the operation completed successfully".
Can you please suggest how to handle this error and start the service?
Regards,
Naresh.Hi All,
Yes, I started with Failsafe server CD only. After trying installing Oracle couple of times, once the service didnt went into starting mode & it couldnt start as well. Then I started going ahead with SAP installation and later I found that the service got automatically started.
I was under the impression that the service has to be started before going for SAP installation.
Thanks all for your replies.

Voting disk issue in Windows 2003 server
I installed oracle RAC 10g with ASM on windows server 2003 R2. I was able to successfully install clusterware as well as ASM with database. Prior to the install, I ran diskpart and then set automount enable. I was able to configure the ocr, ocrmirror and votedisk without any problem. After completion of the installation and then restarting both the nodes, looking at the Disk Management from the Computer Management, my first node is showing the partition for votedisk as raw disk but on the second node, I am seeing drive letters configured for the votedisks. I ran crsctl query css votedisk on both the nodes and both the nodes are pointing to the same location, \\.\votedsk1, \\.\votedsk2 and \\.\votedsk3.
Now my question is why am I seeing the drive letter(s) (G:) for the drives that were configured to votedsk from the second node and not seeing the drive letters from the first node?
Can I change the drive letter that were configured for voting disks from the second node?
I did take a backup of the votedsk using ocopy, but can this be a valid backup if I clear the drive letter on second node and then restore from the backup? I appreciate any help to correct this problem. ThanksI can perform delete and add another voting disk, But what about the drive letter that is showing on the second node and not on the first? Do I need to remove the drive letter showing on node 2 while the voting disk is still showing up prior to performing the delete and add of another voting disk? Thanks for your help.
