Display a complex structure for edit - BUS_EI_EXTERN

Good day Everyone
I need to display a complex structure (BUS_EI_EXTERN) to a user in a BSP and allow the user to change one or more required fields of this structure. I thought about using a recersive algorithm to iterate through the structure and display the table names in a tree. When the user clicks on a node (table) they will get a list of all the attributes of the table which they can edit.
Would this be the 'easiest' route to go?
I tried to use LVC_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE to get the attributes of the structure, unfortunantly it flattens the structure, any other way i can try and go through the structure?
I dont suppose there is a nice function module that already does what i want?

Hi,
use function DDIF_FIELDINFO_GET to get the information about any structure/table and in its parameter DFIES_TAB you get the data that you need.
Later you can build your tree with that data.

I'm trying to create a "structure" that contains (Customer, Date of First Purchase, Date of Last Purchase) where the last 2 items are members from the same dimension attribute. This structure will form the basis of some more complex logic...for
example, I may have another "structure" containing (Customer, Date of Event1, Date of Event2) that needs to be intersected with the first:
Intersect(
Struct1 (Customer, Date of First Purchase, Date of Last Purchase)
Struct2 (Customer, Date of Event1, Date of Event1)
One option I'm considering (since a tuple cannot contain multiple members from the same dimension attribute according to
this article) to create additional date dimensions with the same relationship to the fact tables and use LINKMEMBER.
Another option would be to create a set consisting of 2 tuples for each customer:
(Customer A, Date of First Purchase),(Customer A, Date of Last Purchase),
(Customer B, Date of First Purchase),(Customer B, Date of Last Purchase),
...and then using some FILTER/GENERATE logic to work through the remaining logic...but I'm not convinced this would be any easier than simply maintaining 2 separate sets:
(Customer A, Date of First Purchase),
(Customer B, Date of First Purchase),
(Customer A, Date of Last Purchase),
(Customer B, Date of Last Purchase),
Any suggestions/recommendations?

another idea: take the same attributes from different hierarchies , make pseudo hierarchies if needed.

thanks - that is also a good idea. However, and just like with the option of creating extra role-playing date dimensions, the drawback is that it isn't "dynamic" - I would need to know ahead of time the max number of possible members from the dimension attribute
to include.
I'm essentially trying to implement complex temporal logic dealing with events in time...and while so far I've only seen the need to have 4 members from the same dimension attribute in a "structure" future requirements may call for more than that.

CE CAF Business Object, Complex Structure and external service...

Hi,
I want to use a web service as remote persistence in a CAF business object(Entity service). My Problem is, that the service returns a list of objects. But it seems that in the new CE the paradigm for caf changed a little and instead of complex attributes (an attribute with a structure and cardinality 0...n) you can only create an association with another business object.
Anybody knows how to bring that together? I want to do something similar like described here:

But using the new CE the Problem is, that I couldn't manage creating a complex attribute in an Entity which can then be used as mapping for a web service.
When I create a simple attibute and replace the type with a complex one, i can do the mapping but there is an error: "The business node has an invalid main structure"

Hi Alexander,
You are now able to create the Structure and set the cardinality also in NetWeaver CE. I thin the following steps will be helpful for you.
1. Create a CAF project called firstcaf.
2.Create an entity service within the project called Customer.
3. Now expand modeled.
4. Then right click on Data Types. Here you will get the option "New Structure".
5.Now select New Structure, One popup will appear then enter the Structure name called Address and click ok.
6. Now You will get your Address structure under Complex Types.
7.Double Click on Address. In right hand side you will get the Address structure for editing.
8.Now from left hand side(Existing Type) expand caf.core and add your required attribute. In right hand side (structure Field) you can edit the name of attribute. suppose for Address structure I have added two field phone and mobile (both are short text ). save it.
9. Now switch to Composite Application Explorer and expand Business Objects ->Customer -> Customer->Customer. and double click on it (Customer).
10. In right hand side expand project firstcaf ->modeled. Now you will get your structure here, In my case I will get Address structure. Now select your structure and click Add button. Structure will go to right hand side(Structure Fields).
11. If you want to change the cardinality it is very simple. Select The Structure from right hand side(Structure Fields) and in bottom side click on property. Now you will get the Cardinality field. you can change it as you like.

Layout for editing database record

Hi!
I'm trying to make a JPanel display a database record for editing in a nice way, but I'm kinda stuck. Example:
Id: 10
First name: Peter
Last name: Johnson
Age: 20 and so on. The problem is that I don't know what strategy to use for the layout management, so that it looks good. I use JLabel for all labels and the Id number, since it's not editable, and JTextField s for the other data. I want the labels for the fields right aligned and the textfields left aligned "in their container", so that there is a streight line between the :s. (I hope you understand...)
Any help appreciated!

F4 for Editable field in ALV, display Name but capture ID

Hi Friends,
I have a ALV for which i have defined a Structure, which is passed to Fieldcatlog.
I have defined a Search help - ZUSER_NAME which has following fields to display.
USERID - USR02-BNAME
FNAME
LNAME
FULLNAME
So my structure for fieldcatalog has User-id which is linked to this search help with Domain XUBNAME.
So in my report i made this User-Id as editable and F4 available, everything is working fine.
when user does a F4, its displaying Userid,Fname,Lname and complete name.upon selection and save i am capturing the id and storing in the ztable.
But now i have a requirement that when user selects a value from this search help on F4, i need to display Fullname but capture the User Id. How can i do that?
This is something similar to the one we have in BSP- key-value pair.
how to do this in ALV.
Appreciate if someone can guide me thru.

2.give ur recordstructure as Details,,Header,1,ITEM,
3.mention ur keyfield.
conversion parameter
Header.fieldFixedLength - give the field lengths
Header.fieldNames=mention all the field name
Header.keyField=enter the value of keyfield
Header.endSeparator='nl'
repeat the same for Item

I have the same question. It seems that Adobe is almost impossible to contact (I ended up here at the forums to ask the same question).
I will never buy another Adobe product again if I can get another program to replace it. If this is customer service then it is NON EXISTENT!
I notice that your question has not been answered and why should you have to get the information from a forum? I know of no other company that makes you do this for simple product information.
NOT HAPPY with this version of arrogant customer service (nor am I happy about renting Photoshop products into the future - it is just a money grab in my opinion). I will be voting with my feet and going elsewhere in future.

TIFF images are displayed as thumbnails but will not open for editing

I have noticed a problem with my iPhoto 7.xx
iPhoto displays the thumbnail of TIFF files but when it is selected (for editing as an example), iPhoto displays a grey circle with a black question mark. This happens with TIFF images from any source (multiple camera, scanner, etc). The TIFF files are NOT in raw format.

Open the file with Preview and do a Save As. Either change the format or keep the tiff. That should fix the files so they can be viewed normally in iPhoto. If the problem is due to an alpha channel in the file this will fix the problem.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Error while creating Complex Structure

     When I am creating a complex structure with KOMG,KONH,KONP,which are related to pricing conditions data.
But I am getting the error as "<b>Field name 'ZZEMPL1' can already exist in a subsequent system</b>" for some of the customer fields in the KOMG structure.I am unable to understand what is the subsequent system?
So please help me to solve this issue.

Cannot change shift due date in Repayment Structure for Final Repayment

Hi Expert,
For creating new transaction of product type 'Interest Rate Instrument' , In Repayment Structure for Flow type - Final Repayment I want to change working day from the default in "No Shift" to "Next working day" but the screen display in gray color.
In this case i have not been post any flow types to G/L account.
Do you have any ideas or the correct solution to solve my issue?

This is becuase you have settled the instrument. Please reverse the settlement , the required filed will be available for change.

We just bought Final Cut Server, and for the most part are pretty happy with the product. We are a small production facility, and primarily work with DVCPro HD footage at 720P. One feature we'd like to use would be the edit proxies feature in FCS, but they don't seem to be working for us.

We're using a mac mini server with snow leopard server and final cut server 1.5.
Problem
Whenever we specify in the Administrator Pane of FCS, Under Preferences and Analyze, we'd like to use a custom transcode setting for the edit proxies, keeping Frame Size, TC, and Frame rate the same, but changing the codec to h264 least quality, the effects are a different compression than expected. We tested out the compression settings using Compressor on the server, and we get the desired results:
Input: DVCPro HD 720P Quicktime 960X720 (1248 x 702) 23.98 fps
Output: H264 Quicktime 960X720 (1248 x 702) 23.98 fps
Also did the same outputs using Apple Prorez, Photo Jpeg and got the following outputs:
Output: Apple Prorez Quicktime 960X720 (1248 x 702) 23.98 fps
Output: Photo Jpeg Quicktime 960X720 (1248 x 702) 23.98 fps
(We also made new transcode settings for these compressor settings and we not able to control the compressions through FCS with these settings as well. Our target codec is H264.)
After connecting the new compression settings on the Mac Mini Server to a new transcode setting in the FCS Admin Pane, we restarted the Java Client, logged in to FCS as an FCSadmin, opened the Admin Pane, and under preferences/analyze change the edit proxy setting to the New H264 setting that worked perfectly when using Compressor. After uploading a final cut project, with one associated media file (DVCPro HD 720P Quicktime 960X720 (1248 x 702) 23.98 fps), the resulting edit proxy did not match the specification: 384 x 216, 23.98fps, TC matches source.
Also did not dynamically connect when checking out the project from FCS and selecting edit proxies and keep media with project and saving to the desktop.
Question 1:
Does anyone have any best practice transcode setting(s) to create for DVCPro HD 720P using edit proxies that dynamically connect and are smaller size than the original? H264? Photo Jpeg?
Question 2:
Why is Final Cut Server's Compressor giving a different output, when the same settings work well with just Compressor?
Question 3:
Does H264 work in creating dynamically linking edit proxies (ie, no need to reconnect)?
I can imagine this information to be very useful to the community, so any input or solutions will be greatly appreciated.

H.264 is a puzzling choice of codec for edit proxies. H.264 is not an edit-friendly codec since it is a complex long-GOP structure and will require a ton of rendering just to play back the timeline. ProRES 422 Proxy would be a much better choice for editing. I'm afraid I can't account for the differences between Compressor and FCServer in this case, but my gut tells me the non-I-frame codec you are trying to use for edit proxies might have something to do with it. Maybe for an edit-proxy workflow to operate properly on the server-side the codec must be I-frame? Is there any reason you do not want to use ProRES 422 Proxy? They are about 1/3 the footprint of 720p24 DVCPRO-HD, which is already very efficient. For that frame rate and frame size they would be roughly half the heft of good ol' DV25.
So my answer to all three questions would be to try ProRES 422 Proxy for your edit proxies and see if everything lines up.

Things are fine till here, but now i have the requirement to edit selected rows of the ALV display..
As you might be aware, we need a field
        TS_STYLEROW TYPE lvc_t_styl, (i.e, a field of type 'h' and we can say as an internal table inside an internal table or else as a deep structure)
in the output internal table <t_dyntable> to meet our requirement.
My issue is about declaring one such field of type 'h' in this dynamically created internal table ''<t_dyntable>".
I tried in the following way by adding one such field to fieldcatalog :
*Field for Styling
ADD 1 TO v_counter.
wa_fieldcatalog-fieldname   = 'TS_STYLEROW'.
wa_fieldcatalog-tabname     = 'TS_STYLE'.
wa_fieldcatalog-col_pos     = v_counter.

I'm developping a jsp application based on Bc4j. when trying to insert a new row with missing fields which must be not null,
in order to be able to edit the row and correct the non seized fields, I display the edit page and it works for several views. but this time when editing fields and submitting the edit form an error is raised with the message no rows available for editing.
the particularity for these views(which causes the error) is that are details for a view which is detail for an other.
can someone please suggest some solution for such a problem

this is a typicall error that occurs when trying to execute the Row data tag with action "Update" and there is not row obtained through the rowkeyparam (normally MyRowKey url parameter passed from the Edit page). I don4t have sufficient information to give you an exact solution.
I don4t understand all your escenario, you spoke about "Insert new row with missing values in required fields", but if you don4t specify a right value to that fields, the insert fail.
Then you display the Edit page to edit that just inserted row, to correct (specify?) the values of that fields. The error occurs in the EditSubmit page.
The EditSubmit page execute de Row data tag, according to the implementation of Rowtag, first recover the row reference (from rowkeyparam url parameter) and then, if that row reference is null, throws the "No rows available for editing" Runtime Exception. This means that the datasource used in your EditSubmit page not include that RowKey reference (obtained from Edit page as Url parameter).
