Display different portal page or portlet depend on user's

can I display different portal page or portlet depend on user's
profile, such as: if user's gender is male, display a portal
page named "malePortal",if the user's gender is female, display
a portal page named "femalePortal"

This can be accomplished by using Entitlements Segments.
You can define them in EBCC. you will have to define a user profile which
will contain user information (like gender).
Once you have two segments defined, you can use portal administration site
to configure entitlements for pages and portlets.

a custom IP class. If you just want to show different content based on auser profile
value, take a look at "Content Selectors" in EBCC; this sounds like aneasier way
to get where you're trying to go.
I don't think there's a way to display different portal pages/portalsbased on user's
profile settings.

Amit,
Using WLPortal 4.0 the best way to access remote information is to use the
Web Service Portlet Wizard (available from the BEA Developer Center -
http://developer.bea.com/index.jsp). You would need to set up web services
on your different servers and then access the information using a portlet
created using the wizard. We will be delivering a more comprehensive remote
Portlet solution in a future release.

• Passing parameter in href to a different Portal page

Hello All,
I have requirement where I have a portlet A in portal page 1. Portlet A is a JSP which has a href pointing to the url of a different portal page (page 2) having the portlet B.
<a href=".../pls/portal30/url/page/page2
When I click on the link on portlet A, I need to pass some parameters to the portlet B in second page.
I know there's no straight forward way to do this. Could you all please share me your experiences and advice me asap.
Thanks in anticipation.

I have an example of two portlets on the same page and parameter is passed from one
to another. The idea should be the same
is the other portlet in on another page.
Hope this helps.
Report 1: summary report
SQL report, on scott.dept:
select htf.anchor('http://iasqa-ultra1.us.oracle.com:7777/servlet/page?_pageid=117&_dad=wwv_30898&_schema=WWV_30898&_mode=3&dept='| |deptno, deptno) aaa, dname, loc from SCOTT.dept
The url here is the page url with extra parameter for dept, the bind variable
in the detail report
Report 2: detail report
SQL report, on scott.emp
select * from scott.emp where deptno = :dept
Add the following PL/SQL code in the "before displaying the page"
wwv_30898.wwv_name_value.replace_value(
l_arg_names, l_arg_values, p_reference_path| |'.dept', wwv_30898.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2(nvl(get_value('dept'), 10)));
Build a page and include these 2 portlets, then when you click
on the link of the summary report, the page will be refreshed,
and the detail report changed based on the data from the summary report.
Here is the url for my example,

• Weblogic portal 10.3 - How to make JSF page to display different jspx page

Hi,
I am new to Weblogic Portal Technology. In my porject I am using trinidad jsf 1.1 and weblogic portal 10.3. I have an issue in changing the jspx path in the JSF portlet at runtime. My scenario is as given below.
I have a left portlet and a right portlet on my consumer.portal page.
Left Portlet:_
The left portlet contains a custom menu created using commandlink tag in trinidad JSF.
Right Portlet:_
The right portlet contains a content portlet which will display the jspx.
Problem:_
When I click on the menu item link in the left portlet, the right portlet should display the appropriate jspx.
Is there any solution for this scenario? Can anyone provide me step by step procedure to implement the above scenario?
Thanks in advance

Hi Chris,
I have already gone through this document. But the procedure that is given in it is not working. I mean I am not able to render diffferent different jspx files based on the menu link clicked. It will great if you can provide me steps by step process since I am new to the portal World.
Thanks a lot for your reply

• Incorrect display of portal pages after migration to EP7

Hello,
after the migration from EP 6 to EP 7 some of the portal pages do not diplay correctly (for example user administration -> identity management, content administration -> webdynpro, system administration -> system configuration -> UME configuration). They show up as plain text, no theme is applied to these pages and navigation on these pages is not possible.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have searched in the SAP OSS and here on the SDN, but didn't find anything. The SAP support hasn't been able to help me so far.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Best regards,
Nicole

Hi Nicole,
we had the same problem with our migration from EP6 SP2 to NW04 and upgrade to NW04s.
The solution is to import the EP6 theme to the EP7 portal.
After that, everything should display ok.
to transport themes, go in portal to :
System Adm \ Portal Display \ Theme archive
Just export your themes from the EP6 portal.
Then in the 2004s portal, go to :
System Adm \ Portal Display \ Theme archive
Then import the EP6 Themes.
I hope this will help.

Hi All,
I know that a Portal page can be published as a portlet (by configuring "optional" tab of the page's properties).
My question is simple (sorry for this), how can we use this page as a portlet ? I try to do using portlet search but just can not find the page previously configured as portlet.
thanks a lot

Sorry, but I found the answer. I had a system problem that prevented me to do that simple thing.

• Different portal logon pages with same url.

Hi all,
Im doing portal logon page customization . My requirement is when a user give the portal link in his browser he should get the portal logon page according to the country language..for example if he opens the portal from india he should get English text and if he opens the portal from japan he should get the japanese text in the portal logon page.
thanks
Rajeev B

Rajeev,
Its possible to have the different logon pages for the same portal.
Its also possible for the same ulr but different parameters.
You can do customization on portal logon page.
For example:
Consider that the url http://myep:50000/irj/portal is currently using to access the portal.
You can pass addintional parameter on this url and fetch them into logon page, display the pages based on the values that you have fetched.
for example http://myep:50000/irj/portal/myparam

• Advice on using Portal Pages

Hello,
Here is our situation. We have a portal application, and logically, we have around
20 different "pages" that have the same layout (custom left nav, body in the center,
than a right hand nav that various portlets can be dropped in).
Functionality may be similar to this:
1. If a user views page X, we should show portlets A, B in the right nav.
2. If a user views page Y, we should show portlets C, D in the right nav.
3. etc.
So even though all the pages have the same layouts, they may place different portlets
in the right hand section.
It seems to me, that because of this desired functionality, we would have to use
a different Portal page for each of our pages (even though they all use the same
layout). Do we need different pages because we want different portal placements
in the right hand nav section?
Or is there a way to re-use the same page, and somehow programmatically state "If
we are viewing page X in the middle section, display portlets A, B on the right,
etc.".
I would like to avoid creating potentially dozens of portal pages because it may
be a maintainability issue.
Thanks,
Will Young

Will,
Can you explain your situation a little more. As far as I can tell you
have 3 sections of your site. A left nav that has no portlets, a body
full of portlets and a right side with portlets also?
Or does your body not contain portlets?
I'd like to help, and think I can but I'm not sure I understand
exactly your problem.

• How can I put "Favorites"portlets for various users in a page?

How can i put in a page two "Favorites" portlets (one for each user that log on into the page and one for each group of users that logon into the page),so each
user can customize (add favorites, delete favorites,..) it's own "Favorites" portlet and the other "Favorites" portlet is only customizable by a
group of user,so if the user log on is not in that group can't customize the portlet.

The favorites portlet is set up to work this way automatically. You put one version on a page, and the customizations are stored for each individual user. So the same portlet displays different favorites based on the logged in user. At this point, there is no way to define favorites for a group.

• Scope of Java Bean in portal pages

Hello All,
My objective is to share information between different portal pages using java bean.
I have portal page (say page1) having a portlet which is a jsp (say jsp1). In JSP1, I have following use bean tag( please see, the scope is Application)
<jsp:usebean id='userSession',scope='application',class='...'>
(As per my understanding of 'application' scope, this java bean will be visible to all the JSPs in the current browser session.)
I set some of the properties of the bean after this.
Now, from my 2nd portal page (say page 2) having exactly one portlet which is again a jsp (say jsp2), I try to access the same javaBean using the use bean tag.
<jsp:usebean id='userSession',scope='application',class='...'>
When I try to access the properties of the bean, none of them are available.
It looks like the original instance of the bean is lost and new instance is created.
Don't Java beans behave in the same way inside and outside the Portal environment ?
If I can't use java beans, could you please suggest any other way where I can share some data between Portal pages.
Thanks very much in Anticipation.

• Portal form custom button to call new portal page

Portal 3.0.9
I can create a portal form componment which sets session variables appropriately based on a custom button. I can get a 2nd component such as a report to read this session variable ok as long as it on the SAME portal page.
However, how do I get the form (exposed as a portlet on a page) to call A DIFFERENT Portal page which contains a number of application components reading the previously set session variable? I do not want to call the module directly as it will appear in a popup window.
I've tried using owa_util.redirect_url('page url'); but this gets ignored and the same page is refreshed.
Any ideas?
John

Hi,
You can call the new page in the success procedure of the form
example
declare
l_url varchar2(2000);
begin
l_url := 'cut and paste the page link from the navigator';
go(l_url);
end;
