Display extra information in entity header of the relational model

Hi,
Is there a way to display extra information in the header of the entity, next to the table name.
Ex : each table in my model has a distinct object id. Right now I enter this info in the Dynamic Properties (Name = OBJECTID Value = 710). It would be really practical for me if that OBJECTID would appear in the relational model diagram.
Thanks.

No, it's not possible

  • Fwd engineering entity name changes to relational model?

    I changed an entity name in my logical model after generating a relational model. But, I cannot figure out how to have SDDM (3.0.0.665) propagate this change to the relational model.
    In the Engineer To Relational Model screen, if I select the changed entity from the tree view, in the Details pane there is a "Selected" check box next to the Name property (this line shows the discrepancy between logical name and relational name) but I can't check it. Under the Compare/Copy Options tab in that same dialog, the check box next to Name is checked. But, when I forward engineer the name is not changed.

    BTW I just noticed that if I enable "Name Translation" then it seems to work. This is not at all intuitive or obvious, nor does it seem to be explained in the documentation.
    According to the help:
    Apply Name Translation: Controls whether formal names are translated to abbreviated names when the logical model is forward engineered to a relational model, and whether abbreviated names are translated to format names when a relational model is reverse engineered to the logical model. Name translation is applied only for valid names. In addition, translations between the words entity/attribute/key and table/column/index are performed.

  • Problem with naming of FK attribute when generating the relational model

    I'm usign Data Modeler 4.0 and I have a problem when I engineer from Logical model to Relational model.
    I have a table SUBJECTS with an unique identifier called ID (pk) and a table BOOKS related to SUBJECTS with a relation named FK_SUBJECT_BOOK and FK attribute named ID_SUBJECT.
    When I engineer to Relational Model, it transforms the original FK attribute ID_SUBJECT of the Logical model into an attribute called SUBJECTS_ID in the Relational model.
    How can I mantain the name defined in the Logical model also in the Relational model, without using abbrevation and without applying name translation when generating the relational model?
    Thank you

    I have already tried it. The problem is that if I check the option you mention, then it uses the pk as it is in the related table creating attributes like ID1, ID2, ID3 and so on for all the relations you have.

  • Renaming Foreign Keys in the Relational Model

    Hi,
    I'm new to Data Modeler, we are using v 3.0.0.66.5 and Oracle 11g, and I'm trying to build a Logical and Relational model for a new application.
    We always name our Primary Keys as ID, this is causing me a problem with my Foreign Keys names in the Relational Model, as they are showing as ID#. Is there a way to add the abbr. of the table to the Foreign Key?
    Thanks in Advance
    Sue

    I always do that job using Naming Standard Templates. This sequence renames ALL FK COLUMNS for ALL TABLES only in RELATIONAL MODEL:
    -Preferences > Data Modeler > Naming Standards > templates
    -into the box "Column Foreign Key"
    -Put something like that: {ref table}_{ref column}
    -Then, go into your modeler tree, select the relational model, right click and use "Apply Naming Standards to Keys and Constraints"
    -deselect all
    -select the last option "Column Foreign Key"
    -Go.
    What if the names still collide? What if you want to do the job for some--but-not-ALL tables? forget the method above. A transformation script will do that.
    You'll need some of these building blocks:
    - table.getFKAssociations()
    - keys.getRemoteTable().getAbbreviation()
    - column.setName()
    I'm novice to script coding, sorry I can't assemble a scripted solution right now.

    Hi preetak ,
    Thanks for your info .Since i have not worked on JMS adapter
    As per the Link it says as follows
    If you want to set additional JMS message attributes, select Specify Additional JMS Message Properties (10 Maximum).
    ·        In the table, enter the Name and Java Type of the JMS message properties whose values are to be included in the message header of the XI message.
    Under Java Type, you define the JMS Java message type for the attribute in the created JMS message. The following are possible entries:
    boolean , init , String etc.,
    Question
    1. How to pass the value to this parameter  will it be XML file with parameter name and value ?

  • How Do I Display A Sub-Catalog/Category Header?

    I can not for the life of me figure out how to display a sub-catlog's header on the page using the various templates?
    I have the code for the main catalog working fine but I can not get the sub-Catalog headers to appear on page in the same way.
    I have this in place which is working via the overall layout:
    <div class="products-a category catList">
    <h1 class="page_title">{tag_name}</h1>
    {tag_cataloguelist,2,,50,,true,true}
    <div role="navigation" class="pagination-a">
    {tag_pagination}
    </div>
    </div>
    Any ideas on how to get this working as I need to display the sub-catlogs headers on the page :-)

    Little tip.
    Do'nt
    Remove that right away.
    If you do that what you will have is that as your h1 on the product page as well because they all share the same layout. This will mean in terms of SEO search engines like google will go to your product page see the main h1 (first) being the catalog name index that. ALL your products in that catalog will have the same name.

  • Share my experiences with the B520 Model

    I have purchased the Lenovo All-In-One desktop computer model B520 on Nov 15th. It arrived in my office on Nov 21st.  It’s been a month now after using it, I would like to share my thoughts about it.
    Pros:
    Saves space, this is the biggest advantage of AIO desktop; this is the primary reason that why I have switched.  Computers with a case and a separated monitor is a big issue for me. I never liked these cables for mouse, keyboard, speakers, …etc. it causes a huge mess under the desk. Now, with the All-in-one style, everything is simplified.  The only cable I need for this B520 Lenovo desktop is for the power source.  It’s designed with different wireless technologies. Mouse and Keyboard are connected through Bluetooth; The system has build-in with the latest 802.11b.g.n WiFi wireless technology.  It also has the enhanced integrated 5.0 speakers system that supports SRS Premium Sound Audio.
    High Performance,  out of all the All-In-One desktop models out there in the market, this machine has the highest hardware specifications. Quad Core Intel 2nd Generation CPU i72600 with Hyper Thread Technology.  This is a really powerful CPU, it gives its best performance when it comes with Video Rendering and image processing.  Word processing and gaming is a piece of cake for the it to handle. I do a lot of video editing so I will only chose this model of CPU.
    The B520 model also comes wit a Nvidia Geforce GT555M.  This is a middle class close to a high end video card.  It handles most of the 3D games in an acceptable setting, but will not be able to run games like BF3 or Crysis kind of games in high settings.  This machine is not for serious gamers, because All-in-one desktops has the performance bottleneck with the video card. Computer manufacturing have to keep down the power it consumes to prevent the machine from over heating.  High end video cards all have a very high demand for powers, at same time produces huge amount of heat.  This is why there are a lot of people start to customize their own computer cases with water cooling system. It is more sophisticated and comes with a lot of trouble.  If you want to have something easy, well organized, and just simply works, go for All-In-One.  You will love it.
    The Lenovo B520 comes with a Touch Screen, which I don’t usually use that often. If there are kids in the family, it will be a fun toy for them to play with. What I like better, is the Bluetooth mouse. The unique part about this mouse is that it has a build in gravitational sensor, means, this mouse is functional in the middle of nowhere, even hanging in the air.  You can imagine using it like a Wii game controller.Just move the mouse and wave it in the air and you will see the cursor on the screen goes where ever you are pointing. How accurate is it? very accurate!! it’s is more sensitive and feels better than using a Wii controller.  Lenovo has pre-install some games that can be played interactively with the mouse. The screen is 23″, so it would be a fun experience. I don’t have any kids in the house, so I uninstalled them all to save some disk spaces and speed up the system a little bit.
    The keyboard and mouse are both connected by Bluetooth; I also noticed that every time when I start the computer, it takes about 2-3 seconds for them to become effective. I assume Lenovo has designed it with a “sleep feature” for this two devices; it helps to save battery and extend the replacement cycle.
    The computer also comes with a 3D glasses. The touch screen has a very high refreshing rate(120Mhz) which is better for the eyes. The screen works interactively with the 3D glasses. When the computer is playing a movie in 3D format, when I wear the 3D glasses and facing the screen, it automatically turns on and I am in 3D mode!!! It supports a lot of 3D games too!!  The feeling in a racing car 3D game is UNBELIEVABLY REAL!!  I love it so much!  It’s a TOTALLY NEW LEVEL of gaming experience!
    Also, Lenovo has designed 4 slots for memory modules.  they have installed 8GB onto two slots and there are another 2 slots available to use.  This is very useful for people like me demands for more rams.  It also provides four USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 port; more than any other All-in-one desktops on the market. The 5 in-one card reader is convenient for uploading photos from cameras.  two HDMI ports, I can also connect my PS3 or Xbox360 to it if I want to use it’s 3D touch screen. It has a building TV tuner, so watching TV on it is another feature.
    Cons:
    Even the computer is very well designed, as a high end user I found there are still a couple places that Lenovo can improve.
    1. Lenovo has researched and developed this RapidDrive technology; I see this is an option on the Spec-sheet for the product, but I never had the chance to upgrade it.  I demand for a high disk performance; I was a little disappointed when I found out that I wasn’t able to install another SSD high performance disk into the computer. I had to take out the 2TB standard disk drive and replace it with the SSD. It would be really nice if I can have the high performance SSD installed as the system drive, and the HD installed as the storage drive.  The RapidDrive technology may become failing out now, because it was from those years that SSD weren’t popularly used.  Compare to the present, SSD is getting more and more popular, the SSD is improving it’s performance and lowering it’s cost.  In the next one or two years, the RapidDrive technology will likely become a history.
    2. I have opened the B520 model to see the inside modules. I see there are still plenty of spaces that Lenovo engineer can use to expand the upgrade capacities. I can use some simple tools to modify the inside body a little bit to fit another hard drive, but it stopped me from doing it because there is not another power cord connector. Those extra mSata connectors are sitting there and watching me could do anything about it;  = (
    3. Lenovo technical support did not have a most updated tech sheet for their system.  Again, I am a tech kind of guy. I was looking for a manual to better understanding the B520 motherboard.(so I can modify it and add some extra hardware to it)  I have called their technical support, talked to people, went through their online data base,  they weren’t able to provide me this manual.  The lastest information they have is for the previous model. The B520 Model I have a the newest I believe. Lenovo should keep up with their technical support, and be prepare for experienced users.
    Conclusion:
    I am satisfied with it. I feel I have made a great purchase.  Would be nice it I can install an additional SSD in there.  Would nice if they can put a high end video card in there.  Good for home offices, and home entertainments. Not recommended for hardcore gamer.
    Price: 4.5 / 5
    Performance: 4.5 / 5
    Exterior Design: 5 / 5
    Interior Design: 3.5 / 5
    Customer Service: 4.5 / 5
    Time from order to receive the product: QUICKLY
    Other thoughts:
    When I was doing my research on All-In-One, here are the reasons that why I have chosen Lenovo:
    1.Sony has a well designed for their product, but the price is high. Most importantly, the video card they have is Nvidia Geforce 540M GT, and it only supports 8GB of ram, not 16 GB.
    2. Toshiba has terrible customer services for technical support. I had a very bad experience with them. I believe they have out sourced it to India base companies.  When the computer is out of warranty after 1 year, they charge a $35(or $30)dollars troubleshooting fee.  I think this is ridiculous to charge the consumer to talk over the phone to find what is the problem with their product.
    3. Dell has better customer service than Toshiba; They do not charge for talking and providing the technical support after warranty, but when it comes with parts replacement, that is something we have to pay which is understandable.  However, one thing I really don’t like Dell computers is that they install a LOT of junks onto your machine when you buy it.  It’s fully loaded with all these third party softwares who pays Dell for more users.  It not only slows down the system, but also generate a lot of garbage uses a lot of disk space.  I will reconsider to buy Dell if they give me a clean & Junk-free windows.
    4. iMac is also a good choice because it’s well designed too. but I did not chose it because it has very limited expansion ports and they charge insanely more for hard-wares upgrade.  They have extreme control over their product from customer modification. They don’t even allow the consumer to replace the hard drive themselves.
    5. HP also has wonderful All-In-Ones, but their hardware specs seems weak. Never dealt with HP customer service before, so I will not say anything about their customer services. Hopefully it’s better than Toshiba.  = )
    also been posted on my personal blog

    Thank you for replying.
    Where I can buy a seperate RapidDrive?
    I couldn't find it on the marcket, or on shop.lenovo.com  /  http://www.lenovospareparts.com/
    With the mSata power splitter, there is a problem.
    The data portion and the power portion shares the same connector I belive. I have thought of it but don't know how to make it possible.  any suggestions?
    the only thing I can find is this :  http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0317944
    but I still need to convert the power connector because it's 4 pin molex;. I guess it should work if I use another 6" Molex to SATA Power Cable Adapter.
    Also, I couldn't find which is the SATA 3.0 and Which is the SATA 6.0 connector.  SSD will have a huge difference in performace with a SATA 6.0 connector.   This is confusing because on the B520 Spec sheet it stated both.  I was looking for it's manual to identify, but no one can provides it. Last time when I called, they forwarded my call to Intel.  LOL!  I was like, **bleep**?  It's a board you used and you dont have a manual for it?
    Anyways,
    Thanks  again!

  • How to find the level of each child table in a relational model?

    Earthlings,
    I need your help and I know that, 'yes, we can change'. Change this thread to a answered question.
    So: How to find the level of each child table in a relational model?
    I have a relacional database (9.2), all right?!
         O /* This is a child who makes N references to each of the follow N parent tables (here: three), and so on. */
        /↑\ Fks
       O"O O" <-- level 2 for first table (circle)
      /↑\ Fks
    "o"o"o" <-- level 1 for middle table (circle)
       ↑ Fk
      "º"Tips:
    - each circle represents a table;
    - red tables no have foreign key
    - the table in first line of tree, for example, has level 3, but when 3 becomes N? How much is N? This's the question.
    I started thinking about the following:
    First I have to know how to take the children:
    select distinct child.table_name child
      from all_cons_columns father
      join all_cons_columns child
    using (owner, position)
      join (select child.owner,
                   child.constraint_name fk,
                   child.table_name child,
                   child.r_constraint_name pk,
                   father.table_name father
              from all_constraints father, all_constraints child
             where child.r_owner = father.owner
               and child.r_constraint_name = father.constraint_name
               and father.constraint_type in ('P', 'U')
               and child.constraint_type = 'R'
               and child.owner = 'OWNER') aux
    using (owner)
    where child.constraint_name = aux.fk
       and child.table_name = aux.child
       and father.constraint_name = aux.pk
       and father.table_name = aux.father;Thinking...

    My thanks in advance,

    Justin,
    Understood.
    Nocycle not work in 9.2 and, even that would work, would not be appropriate.
    With your help, I decided a much simpler way (but there is still a small problem, <font color=red>IN RED</font>):

  • SQL Developer - problems with the Data Modeller part

    Hi SQL Developer users,
    I can open the Data Modeler pane, but I can't insert any object into the logical model or into the relational model. Any ideas about what I'm doing wrong? Do I need specific privileges to the database, or do I need to install SQL Developer in a different way?
    Thanks,
    Csisz

    Hi Csisz,
    as Ivaylo wrote - it's Data Modeler Viewer into SQL Developer.
    I can't insert any object into the logical model or into the relational modelYou can drag tables from SQL Developer browser and drop them on relational model diagram. If you keep Ctrl key pressed then all child tables also will be imported and shown on diagram.

  • Display Dynamic Member List Variable value in the Header

    Hi
    In my HFR report im using a dynamic member list as DynList1(@POV) in the Entity Dimension; for HFM Application.
    For the Entity Parameter im using User Prompt for Entity.
    For the User Prompt im using a choice list of Four entity members. E1, E2,E3, E4.
    I have 4 member lists ML_E1,ML_E2, ML_E3, ML_E4 such that ML_E1 contains few of the descendants of E1.
    So wen i run the report i select E1 in the user prompt and the ML_E1 is used in the Report. This is working fine.
    Now, i want to display the MemberName and Description of E1 in the Header.
    Im not sure if it can be done. But wanted some confirmation from Hyperion Community on whther this can be done.If yes, please let me know how.
    Thanks
    Vibhuti

    I tried to recreate the problem like listed above, but after I add the Outputcollection of the Invoke as a parameter, there is no schema info (not even task:task) when editing the Assignment and Routing Policy section. At any rate, there weren't errors to speak of - the instance completed with "The state of this instance is Completed".
    In the meantime, I've used a while loop to loop through a sequence of approvers that are result of a query. I'll have to keep track of approvers and include them in each new payload I think.

  • Displaying a subset of records is limiting the information I can show

    Hello All,
    I'm developing my photo gallery's TOC page and when I began, I had lots of data I wanted to display and through the use of lookup tables and the proper logic in my SELECT query, I could show a vertical list of galleries that matched a specific category. With each was listed two sample thumbnails, title, description, model, photographer and make-up artist names. I even was able to set the page title and header to display the proper information.
    An additoinal SELECT query counted the number of galleries in the main table that were relevant to the present query string value.
    Another SELECT query counted the number of photos in each different gallery photoset and displayed that information in EACH gallery's title.
    The description is in reverse to the flow of the code, keep in mind. Here is the code (the $spec variable is that of the query string.):
    //get the total number of photos in a gallery photoset
    $conn = dbConnect('query');
    $getTotal = "SELECT COUNT(*)
                FROM photos, galleries
                WHERE galleries.g_spec = '$spec%'
                AND galleries.g_id = photos.g_id ";
    $total = $conn->query($getTotal);
    $row = $total->fetch_row();
    $totalPix = $row[0];
    // get the number of galleries
    $conn = dbConnect('query');
    $getGtotal = "SELECT COUNT(*)
                FROM galleries
                WHERE galleries.g_spec = '$spec%' ";
    $g_total = $conn->query($getGtotal);
    $row = $g_total->fetch_row();
    $galTotal = $row[0];
    //get gallery thumbnails, name, description, subject, category, model, photographer, mua
    $conn = dbConnect('query');
    $sql = "SELECT g_thumb1, g_thumb2, g_name, g_desc, subject_id, category_id, model_name, photographer_name, mua_name
            FROM galleries, gallery_spec, model_names, photographer_names, mua_names
            WHERE galleries.g_spec = '$spec%'
            AND gallery_spec.g_spec = galleries.g_spec
            AND model_names.model_id = galleries.g_model
            AND photographer_names.photographer_id = galleries.g_photographer
            AND mua_names.mua_id = galleries.g_mua
            ORDER BY g_id DESC ";
    $result = $conn->query($sql) or die(mysqli_error());
    $galSpec = $result->fetch_assoc();
    *** end of code.
    Anyhow, this worked wonderfully. However, as I add galleries, this list will get quite long. So, I wanted to add navigation which would break up the number of galleries into set quantities.
    When I introduced parameters to LIMIT the number of queries displayed based on a variable called SHOWMAX, my displayed data got all botched. admittedly, I'm adapting code from David Powers' book PHP Solutions and am learning as I go. I gave up on displaying all of the data shown above and went the simple route, figuring I'd add more features as I learned. This necessitated restructuring my database a bit.
    Here is the code I added that allows for navigation based on a limit of 3 entries per page:
    // set maximum number of records per page
    define('SHOWMAX', 3);
    // get the number of galleries
    $conn = dbConnect('query');
    $getGtotal = "SELECT COUNT(*)
                FROM galleries ";
    $g_total = $conn->query($getGtotal);
    $row = $g_total->fetch_row();
    $galTotal = $row[0];
    // set the current page
    $curPage = isset($_GET['curPage']) ? $_GET['curPage'] : 0;
    // retrieve subset of galleries
    $conn = dbConnect('query');
    // calculate the start row of the subset
    $startRow = $curPage * SHOWMAX;
    $sql = "SELECT *
            FROM galleries
            ORDER BY g_id DESC
            LIMIT $startRow,".SHOWMAX;
    $result = $conn->query($sql) or die(mysqli_error());
    $galSpec = $result->fetch_assoc();
    *** end of code.
    Along with some navigation code in the body:
    <div id="header4">
        <p>Displaying <?php echo $startRow+1;
              if ($startRow+1 < $galTotal) {
                echo ' to ';
                if ($startRow+SHOWMAX < $galTotal) {
                  echo $startRow+SHOWMAX;
                else {
                  echo $galTotal;
              echo " of $galTotal";
              if ($curPage > 0) {
                          echo '<a href="'.$_SERVER['PHP_SELF'].'?curPage='.($curPage-1).'"> Back </a>';
              if ($startRow+SHOWMAX < $galTotal) {
                          echo '<a href="'.$_SERVER['PHP_SELF'].'?curPage='.($curPage+1).'"> Next </a>';

    I can now display my gallery information in groups of 3 per page.
    THE PROBEM IS that when I add additional queries, say to get the subject and category information, model, photograpger and or make-up artist information, it doesn't always come up, sometimes it messes up the display, and in all cases, this additional information disappears when I navigate from subset to subset. This is why I have been asking about carrying values from one page to the next.
    I am absolutely stonewalled and am going to have to put the galleries into service sans navigation until I can figure it out. I'm willing to even hire someone for advice. I just can not make this work. Yes, I realize it's complex for someone of my skill level, but I have no choice, I have to make this work.
    Alternate forms of navigation/showing subsets of records would be greatly appreciated. ANY help, suggestions or guidance will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you for reading through all this.
    Most sincerely,

    Again you are misunderstanding. I'm not suggesting hardcoding any values. I am only asking if you are/were trying to pass the actual subject and category descriptions, or the id's of category and subject so you can requery the database on each page.
    > I don't think the page re-queries on navigating, I think it just loads  info from the array.
    I don't think so. Just look at the SQL. It's using the limit and offset values which means to me that it's only returning the rows for the current page. What array are you talking about?
    >So, I added a separate query to pick this info from the DB, and it bombs  the page.
    I really believe you are going about this all wrong. Right now you are searching for solutions to specific problems without having a solid foundation in the technologies involved. Trying to build as you learn is a recipe for disaster and frustration. Stop what you are doing for a while. Work on some php and SQL tutorials that are unrelated to this project. Work through them until you understand what each line of code is doing.
    Right now you are headed down a rat hole. You may get most of it to work, but you will be plagued by bugs and scripts that are difficult to maintain.
