Then you have no way of knowing which is the last record. You
need an
autonumber field or a date/time field in order to be able to
sort the
records so you know which one is the last.

How to fetch last record from the table to display in screen painter?
Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement where i have to fetch the last record value in the table.
I have a screen where the TEXT name is REQUEST and I/P field name is REQ and SAVE push button.
In this I/P field automatically 1 should display when i excecute the program and when i save this, the request number should turn to 2 that is dynamically..once agin save then 3 and so on....and this 1, 2, 3 will be storeing in table.
I have succeeded till generating the values dynamically and saving in the table like 1 is displayed and when i click save it is changeing to 2..but the problem is when i am coming out of program and logon again the request number is again displaying as 1 rather it has to start with 4 because already 3 request are there in the table.
My code is...
Table zsave.
data declarations....
data req type i.
req = 0.
req = zsave-req.
PROCESS BEFORE OUTPUT
req = 0.
select req into table fun_st from zsave.
req = zsave-req.
zsave-req = req.
req = zsave-req + 1.
PAI
req = zsave-req + 1.
zsave-req = req.
when 'save'.
wa_funst-req = zsave-req.
Please can you provide me with the solution....answer will be rewared.
THKSCan you tell me, when updaing the ZSAVE table with the counter value are you modifying the exisiting value or inserting the value as new record?
From the code in your first post, i see that you are extracting records into internal table but when you are moving to variable REQ, you are moving from table work area which is blank, so everytime when you execute it may be starting as 0.
Hope below code can help you understand on handling your requirement
Global Declaration:
>DATA: l_req TYPE i.
PBO:
SELECT MAX( req ) INTO l_req FROM zsave.
l_req = l_req + 1.
PAI:
DATA: wa TYPE zsave.
CASE ucomm.
WHEN 'SAVE'.
wa-req = l_req.
INSERT zsave FROM wa.
ENDCASE. -
Display only the last record per material in SAP query
Hi,
I have created a SAP Query using the quickviewer that is a join between 2 tables (MSEG and MKPF) that consist of material document information and date of posting.
The results are fine however I would like only the last record per material to be displayed.
Can anyone tell what do I need to add so for only the last record per material be displayed in the output.
Thanks,
MarkHi Mark,
May be if you use Control Level processing .........I think you will be able to get the result you want. Try displaying as Below,
LOOP AT XXXXX.
AT FIRST material.
ENDAT.
AT LAST material.
*...Display what ever you want here. It will display at end of every material.
ENDAT.
ENDLOOP.
Before using sort the table with key material in ascending.
Hope what I had to say is helpful to you.
Cheers,

Compare 2 data sets and display the last record
I have one record in first table and 2 records in second table.
Ex:Table 1:
A 100 200 0
B 200 300 0
Table 2:
A 0 0 100
A 0 0 500
B 0 0 700
In one final template I want to display like below with only 2 records like below.
A 100 200 500
B 200 300 700
Anybody suggest me how to pick only last record if the count is greater than 1 in second table.not sure what are you trying to do
if you want to join two table then sql is more useful IMHO
Anybody suggest me how to pick only last record if the count is greater than 1 in second table.

Not enough space to print the last record on each page
Hello,
My report looks like a simple list table, with the first row as the column header, followed by rows of records.
The fields are placed on the Detail section and they're set with "Can Grow" property. That means, records may have different row height, some may take 1 row per record, some may take 3 rows per record, depending on the data length. I use some vertical lines on the Detail section as the column seperators, and a horizontal line as the record seperator.
I've a Page Footer to show the page number and print date.
My problem is:
When the space of the last record on the current page isn't big enough, the record will be printed automatically on the second page, which is fine. But the vertical seperation lines are still displayed even though the details are printed on the second page. I got some "empty rows with vertical seperation lines" or I'd say an open-end table at the end of some pages then.
Is there a way to avoid this?
Your help is much appreciated. Thank you.
AgnesYou could draw an outline box from page header to page footer, then your internal lines would run from page header to page footer
so if the document extends to 2 pages, the page footer will print on the 1st page and therefore the bottom line of the box
only problem now would be that on the 2nd page the box will extend to the bottom of that page also, even if there is only 1 record -

Query takes too much time in fetching last records.
Hi,
I am using oracle 8.1 and trying to execute a SQL statement, it takes few minutes and display records.
When trying to fetch all the records, it is fast up to some level and takes much time to fetch last record.
Ex: If total records = 16336 , then it fetches records faster up to 16300 and takes app.500 sec to fetch last 36 records.
Could you kindly let me know the reason.
I have copied the explain plan below for your reference.Please let me know if anything is required.

Apologies for not mentioning these details in previous thread.Let it be approximate time but how did you arrive at that time? When a query fetches records how did you derived that one portion is fetched in x and the remaining in y time limit?
I would suggest this could be some issue with PL/SQL Developer (Never used this tool by myself) But for performance testing i would suggest you to use SQL Plus. Thats the best tool to test performance. -
How to get to the last record of an APEX report automatically?
In Oracle Forms there is a "lastrec" command which can be placed after a call to a multi-row form. The records called have the last record at the bottom of the page. For example, if there are 100 records and there are 10 rows on the form, record numbers 91 through 100 would be showing. Can this be done in APEX? I have a user who wants it this way. I set the report page up to be ordered descending, which gives her last record at the top of the page, but this is not acceptable to her. She wants to see the last record, but she wants it at the bottom of the page.
Hi,
Try this query, it should order your data as you want and the report pagination is not broken!
The number of row displayed must be the same as the divide by value (ie. 10)
select your_id
from your_table
order by trunc ((DENSE_RANK() OVER ( ORDER BY your_id desc) -1) /10)
, DENSE_RANK() OVER ( ORDER BY your_id desc) desc;
Page 1 displays 91 to 100
Page 2 displays 81 to 90
Also if your data set have 87 rows, Page 1 will display 78 to 87 (ie. the 10 last rows).
If you want more details regarding the sorting you can have a look on this query:
select your_id
, trunc ((DENSE_RANK() OVER ( ORDER BY your_id desc) -1) /10)
, DENSE_RANK() OVER ( ORDER BY your_id desc)
from your_table
order by 2, 3 desc; -
How to select last record or first record value in a formula?
Post Author: d111
CA Forum: General
I am using a query in a report that in addition to other columns, has a column of month labels like:
There are no unique identifiers or sequence fields that can be used. There is only 4 columns: the label and 3 percent columns.
Jan07Feb07Mar07Apr07etc.
I would like to show the range of months I am using in a label on the report showing the last and first records value. like: "Jan07 to Jun07".
I can not see how to use the functions maximun or minimum since it sorts the months alphabetically.
I would like to use a formula to just grab the first and last record. I can't seem to find any information on this anywhere.
Please advise and thanks.Post Author: bettername
CA Forum: General
Hmm... I suspect what you actually want is the minimum and maximum dates in the report, rather than the first and last records (even if they do happen to come out in date order). So you need to convert the text dates to real ones, and then pick the min/max values.
If so, try these:
Formula "ConvertToDate" (for details section) which converts your text field into a real date - suppress it once placed!:
//Since you have 2-digit years, this conversion assumes that all your dates are >=year 2000
numbervar the_month;if left({YourTable.YourField},3) = "Jan" then the_month:=1 elseif left({YourTable.YourField},3) = "Feb" then the_month:=2 elseif left({YourTable.YourField},3) = "Mar" then the_month:=3 elseif left({YourTable.YourField},3) = "Apr" then the_month:=4 else
//...etc etc you fill in the rest!
if left({YourTable.YourField},3) = "Dec" then the_month:=12;
date(tonumber("20"+right({YourTable.YourField},2)), the_month, 1);
Formula "Show Date Range" (for anywhere on the report) to show the min/max values of the dates;
totext (minimum({@ConvertToDate})) + " to "+totext(maximum({@ConvertToDate}))
If, however, you really just want the first and last records, and you want it at the top of your report as a title (eg: in the Report Header), then I can't see how it can be done without using a subreport that looks at the same dataset, but only displays the first and last records (using the formulas below).
Stick this in the details section, and call it "HoldRecords" and suppress it:
whileprintingrecords;stringvar first;stringvar last;if recordnumber = 1 then first:={YourTable.YourField}; //if its the first record that crystal is displaying, store it in a variableif recordnumber = count({YourTable.YourField}) then last :={YourTable.YourField} //and again, but for the last record
Now create another formula, and put it into the report footer:
evaluateafter({@HoldRecords});stringvar first" to "stringvar last //will display "Jan07 to Apr07"
NOTE: if you have the report ordered by anything, this'll throw the record numbering, and therefore the first and last records, therefore... urgh.
Hope this helps... -

How to display all record from table?Please help
I mean, if table has for example 5 records this5 records are displayed, if table has 100 records this 100 is displayed. If there are many records which are not visible in the window the scroll is added to window or to canvas that i could see them all.
And one more, i want to separate each record with some separator like line or picture.
TIAYou can increase the space between each record by setting the Distance Between Records property for each item.
If you want "sth like line" tnh u cn uz a nndtbs itm wiv 2 pxl hi plcd blw teh ovr itms. Alternatively, if you can write proper English, then for the separator you can use a non-database item 2 pixels high placed below the other items. Set the bevel, colour etc as you require, and set the Enabled property to false.
As an alternative, to make each record distinct from the next you could give each a different colour by creating a visual attribute, and setting the colour of each item on alternate rows with code similar to this, in the post-query trigger
if mod(to_number(:system.trigger_record),2) != 0 then
set_item_instance_property('block.item1',current_record,visual_attribute,'VA_ODD');
set_item_instance_property('block.item2',current_record,visual_attribute,'VA_ODD');
etc...
end if;finished this bit after steve's post below...
To hide unused records you could try putting the items on a stacked canvas and change the viewport and scrollbar heights depending on the number of records retrieved. This might work or it might give you an error about items being off-canvas.
It looks like you're intending this to look like a blog's comments page so you'll probably have disabled inserts in the block and will be inserting new comments in some other fields. If not then there will be a problem if the user is on the last record and presses the down arrow or uses the 'Record > Insert' menu option, as this could put them on a record which is not visible on the form. You might be able to get round this by extending the height of the viewport in the key-crerec and key-nxtrec triggers (check for :system.last_record = 'TRUE'. Obviously, you'll need to resize the viewport when you delete records if that will leave fewer rows of data than there are rows of fields. -

Hello All,
I have a doubt in the query where i want to retrive last six records of GRPO No. for particular item no. from SAP business table, if i pass parameter 1 then it should display last one record, if i pass parameter 2 then last two records.
Sap business table = OPDN, OPOR
Please suggest me.
Thanks,
AvijitHEllo frnds, thanks for the reply.
But i want to display report dynamically from the selection paramter.
Please see the below code, currently its displaying all the GPRO#, Date, Quantity and Rate based upon the Item(those items which have PO status open).
I want to restrict it up to 6 GRPO Nos....
SELECT OPDN.[DocNum]AS GRPONO, CONVERT(NVARCHAR,OPDN.[DocDate],103) AS GRPODATE,

SUM(T1.[Quantity]) AS POQUANTITY, T1.[PriceBefDi] AS PORATE
FROM OPOR T0
INNER JOIN POR1 T1 ON T0.DocEntry = T1.DocEntry
LEFT join PDN1 ON T1.ItemCode = PDN1.ItemCode
LEFT join opdn ON opdn.DocEntry = PDN1.DocEntry
WHERE T0.DocStatus = 'O' AND T1.LineStatus = 'O'
and T0.U_MStatus <> '' and T0.canceled = 'N'
and T0.DOCNUM IN (615)
GROUP BY
OPDN.[DocNum], CONVERT(NVARCHAR,OPDN.[DocDate],103),
PDN1.[Quantity], PDN1.[PriceBefDi],
T0.[DocNum],T1.[Dscription],
T1.[Quantity], T1.[PriceBefDi]
ORDER BY OPDN.[DocNum] DESC,T1.[Dscription]
This is display as :-
PO Number PO Description Quantity Rate GRPONo GRPODate Quantity Rate
615 TRANSTEL DK XXXX
2 41.63
700 07/02/2009 10 42.46
681 06/01/2009 10 42.463
649 06/11/2008 7 42.462857
617 18/09/2008 15 42.4626

517 07/05/2008 25 42.4628
285 10/03/2008 46 42.878
Look The GRPO No its display all the records, i only want to display last six records also i want to restrict it from 01/04/2009.
I dont want to display before that.

I got the Beta when it first came out. Do I need to buy the app now? Will I get updates if they come out? Is the app store one a different version to the Beta I got?
