How can i display notification on homepage when a document is uploaded to document library in SharePoint 2013.

I think this will work for your requirement.(I am assuming Notification should be visible to all the users).
1. Create 1 Custom List (say "Notifications").
2. Add Event Receiver on your document Library and Whenever a new document is uploaded by using Event Receiver update the same in "Notifications" List.
3. By using ECMA Script ,you can read the List Items and bind .
(or)
you can achieve the same from the document library it selft , why list is for future enhancements.

Workflow to send a notification when a document is checked in

I created some List Approval Workflows using SharePoint Designer 2010. I want to send an email out as soon as the user check in a document before uploading it into the Document Library. Can I do that in Designer 2010?

Hi Mayank,
When a document is uploaded into the document library, the first action is the upload. Then if you have enabled Check-in/check-out on that library then user has to check-in the document for other's to see. It is not other way around. Even before you enter
the metadata for the document, the document is uploaded to the library. So are you looking to send email when the document is uploaded or when it is checked-in?

Empathy not displaying notifications when contacts sign on

I have recently decided to give Gnome 3 a try. I have run into an issue with notifications from Empathy. I receive popup and audio notifications when a contact sends me a message, and I am getting audio notifications when contacts sign in; however, I do not receive any sort of pop up notification when this occurs. I have checked the boxes for notifications-contact-signin and notifications-enabled under org.gnome.Empathy.notifications in dconf Editor. In searching for a solution to this problem, I found references to a "Notifications" tab under Empathy's preferences, but I assume that has been removed from the newer versions, as I do not have that tab.
Have sign in notifications been removed from Empathy, or have I misconfigured/neglected to install something?
Please let me know if there are any specific logs that would be of assistance.

How to Find When A Document Library's Versioning Was Turned Off

We have a document library that used to have versioning on. It's since been turned off. How do we figure out when versioning was turned off and who did it?

whenever you upload a document in a document library, it published automatically if versioning is not enabled. Also you can check versioning details of the document which always say No version found.
You can verify version from library settings, and also can enable or disable versioning from the document library.
Document Library-->settings-->General settings--> Versioning Settings.

Using Visio Web Access Web Part to dynamically display visio drawings in document library according to which folder a user is viewing

I have a document library web part in SharePoint 2010. There is also a Visio Web Access Web Part on the same site, side by side with the doc lib. In the folder structure of the document library web part (it is pretty complex and a few levels deep),
each folder contains one and one only Visio diagram. I want the Visio web access web part to display the visio drawing that exists in what ever folder the user is currently browsing. For example.. if the file structure is as follows below and a user clicks
on folder A from the list I would like the Visio Web Access web part to display the visio diagram that lives in folder A. Same for any folder at all anywhere in the structure that the user is viewing, dynamically changing as the user browses the directory.
Is this possible?

Got this to work. Made a new data view in a designer for document library. Created parameter and used it to filter the data view. Then I connected the visio's shape data to the parameter and OOB sorting and filtering works as expected.

Access denied error when Loading document library for "contribute" users : Unknown SPRequest error occurred. More information: 0x80070005

We are facing a very strange issue on a SharePoint Publishing portal. Domain users (contribute level access) have access to document libraries under specific sub sites. Every morning if they try to access the document library pages, users complain about "Access Denied" issue on document library page. But if a SP Farm admin account login on site, and browse to document library page, access denied issue seems to disappear for end users also. For whole day it works fine. But next day access denied error occurs again. I am not sure why this is happening. I have looked into Event Log and SharePoint Logs, found following information useful, but not sure what to do next.

/Projects/LFB/03 Bid Stage 1/Forms/AllItems.aspx
Does the sub site have unique permission instead of inheriting permission from the parent site? If no, you need to make the sub site to inherit permission from the site collection so that master page also inherits the right. If this is not allowed in your organization, please go to “Site Actions”à “Site Settings” à “Master Pages and Page Layouts” to give users permissions on this document library.

How to disable the 'Read Only' notification on an Access document when it is opened from within a document library (SP 2010)

Hello,
OK, so I am currently having issues with opening MS Access documents from SP 2010. I have taken an existing database and uploaded it into a document library. Now, when I open this document I get the prompt to open it in either 'Read Only' or 'Edit'.
When I select 'Read Only' I can view the document, however I get the 'Read Only - Save As' notification when the document opens up. I have configured the document both from the source (on the original file) and from within SP to disable notifications - (from
within the Trusted Options selection)
Deleted the document and uploaded it again, and the 'yellow bar' notification is still appearing.
I want to disable the 'Save As' function, or even hide this when the document is opened. Is this at all possible??

According to your description, my understanding is that you don’t want the yollow bar notification to display when you open Access documents.
This issue seems to be about the client application. Please compare the followings with the things that you did:
1.Open the documents
2.Click File->Options->Trust Center->Trust Center Settings
3.Click Protected View, unselect ‘Enable Protected View for originating from the Internet’
4.Click Message Bar, select ‘Never show information about blocked content’
5.Click Macro Settings, select ‘Disable all macros without notification’
In addition, as this issue is about Office, I commend you create a new thread in Office forum, more experts will assist you with this issue.

Display data from multiple document Libraries in List View Webpart

Hi All,
I want to display data from multiple document libraries into one list view webpart(custom i have created)

but it tells to display only from one document library.
My motive behind displaying data in the list view webpart is to achieve the functionality of Check In ,Check Out and other OOB features.

As there is no such OOTB feature, a workaround is to create a visual web part to gather items from libraries and implement functionalities like Check in, Check out files
in different libraries.

Unable to see existing documents in a Custom Sharepoint 2013 Document library while saving a document directly in it using explorer mode

Hi,
We have a SharePoint 2013 doc library based on a custom template, which has been migrated from 2010.
We are unable to see existing documents in a Document library created using this template while saving a document directly in it using explorer mode, However we can save files and even see them in explorer mode, only when we try to save a new document there
directly, we cant see the old docs.
All the OOB libraries work fine.
Below is the normal behavior while saving a file, however nothing comes up when saving on this custom template library

Issue with site template that contains a document library with a lookup column to another list

I have a document library called Proposals with a lookup column in the same site called Document Categories (multiple values allowed). It points to a list called document categories. I have several sample documents in the Proposal Library that
contain valid document categories. When I save the site as a template and instantiate it, everything is fine. However, when I remove the sample documents from the Proposal library and rebuild the site template, I can't get the template to
create another site. I get an error Unable To Open Lookup List.
I don't understand why I can instantiate a site from the template when there's sample data, but not when the document library containing the lookup column is empty.
Does SharePoint 2010 site template support lookup columns?
Why would it make a difference if the library is empty?

According to your description, my understanding is that the error occurred when you created a site from the template with no files in the document library.
I tested the same scenario per your post, and I can create a site from the template with no files in the document library with no errors.
To solve this issue, I recommend to verify the things below:
Did you save the site as a template with Include Content checked? If yes, I recommend to test if it works when saving the site as a template with Include Content unchecked.
Test the same scenario with a new site to narrow the issue scope.
I also recommend to check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
To check event log, click the Start button and type “Event Viewer” in the Search box.
For SharePoint 2010, by default, ULS log is at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS.

Spry Vertical Menu does not display properly when uploaded to server.

I am using Dreamweaver CS5 Version 11.0 Build 4909 on Windows XP. The website I am working on is displaying the ordered list incorrectly. The drop down submenus are not lined up underneath each other.
So I did a basic one and uploaded it to the server and had the same outcome. Locally it looks fine but uploaded to the hosting server not fine. Below is the code from the document called deleteme.html. I am new to all this so I apologize if this seems basic. Thanks for your help in advanced.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my post. I have it working now but I have other issues that I will post separately.
Here was my thought process and you can tell me if I am right or wrong. I was working with multiple pages that I was using Spry. I had only one folder set that all the Spry Assets were being saved into. My thinking was that they were getting over written. So I deleted the folder and re-built the page. When I deleted Spry Assets folder it showed me I had 6 pages linked to the Spry Assets folder. I also deleted my Spry Assets folder on my hosting server....thought I would really start from scratch. When I went to upload the files I created a SpryAssets folder and what I realized I had originally put a space between the y and a of the folder name. So I am not sure if the elements in the Spry Assets folder were getting over written or it was because I had a space in the folder name. Thanks again, Mike

How to "Show notifications when display is off"

Hi,
In Mavericks Beta the notifications from Mail, Messages, Facebook etc. were displayed even when the screen was turned off. It lit up the screen for a while showed the notification for few seconds and then the screen was turned off again. I really liked that feature cause I could see whats happening on my iMac even if I wasn't using it.

But the option to enable it is no longer in the Notifications settings, instead there is "Show notifications on lock screen".
So please let me ask, is there some possibility to show notifications on turned off display? Maybe by editing some preference file or something like that?

I too would like to know a way around this problem. In the prior version of iCal, you could enable alarms only when iCal was running. I routinely sync three computers, sometimes hours to days apart. So unless I remember to turn alarms off prior to shutting down the machines, the alarms are not properly updated upon syncing when an idle machine is turned back on.
Hope this makes sense. Either way, it would have been better if Apple had not gotten rid of this feature in the new iCal.

I have created a document library in which m uploading a excel sheet with values in it and i have created a custom list with same no.of.rows and columns in the excel sheet given the same name of columns. Now i have to make sure that whatever changes i do
in the excel sheet should automatically gets updated in custom list in sharepoint

You'll need to create an event receiver for when you add/update a document on the source library (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/gg749858(v=office.14).aspx)
Then, with code open the excel file and count the rows. You can use the OpenXmlSDK to do that (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5124)
