Display oddity- What in the world?
A grand total of two times, the screen on my MacBook Pro (13' Mid 2010) has demonstrated the symptom in the picture below. Both times, in conjunction with Mail.app being in use and the "frontmost" application. Quitting Mail would remove part of the funky display, but any further opened windows would also show some of this oddity. A reboot fixed both times. It has been nearly two months since the last occurence.

Yes, you are seeing that correctly - a perfectly clar right angle/rectangle.
That's why I was pondering that it was a code glitch - the only affected area of the screen is the partial content of the mail.app window - and only the portion of the window where the mail message would be displayed (no message was selected at the time - so nothing was in that part of the window).
And as I said - it happened both times on launch of Mail.app. Never has affected any other apps - just the two times (separated by nearly 2 months) launching mail.app.

What in the world? Exact same colors displays darker on new CC document.
Looking at the screen shot - the color on the left is the PMS color I've been using for a client. I just switched to CC and now when I use the exact same PMS color it shows up looking like the window on the right (darker). I've double checked that both docs are setup CMYK. What in the world is going on?
That 874C is a metallic ink and is very difficult to render on-screen and in a digital proof. Neither your lighter version nor the darker version render halfway decently to a swatchbook, unfortunately. The darker one is a better choice viewing on-screen. The deception is and always has been that colors on-screen will print darker. So, if the preview color on-screen is already darker, then it will print darker and therefore, hypothetically, will never be where it is supposed to be in a proofing environment. It seems they've compounded an already existing problem in favor of a new softproofing workflow. Big mistake.
The 167...same thing. The darker screen shot appears closer to my Pantone Spot color swatchbook. I would be interested in knowing how you guys proofed the jobs and what the differences are in a proof workflow. I suspect my theory will hold up. Again, historically since monitor color was invented, prints and/or proofs always appear darker. So, users have been accustomed to the lighter screen color vs. the darker and more accurate print / proof color.
Now, if for some reason I am wrong, then Pantone and Adobe have solved the differences between transmissive color vs. reflective color, plus lighting differences and the inherent differences in everyone's monitors, and the differences in paper Whiteness. Pure genius and scientifically improbable.

I'm in a bit of a quandary. I have three email addresses, and I'm TRYING to pare down the number of addresses that I use. Thus, I am trying to change my Appple ID to one of those email addresses. Having said that, I tried to Change my Apple ID (which is an email address - one of the ones that I need to get rid of) to one email address that I constantly use. However, the screen tells me that the new address I wish to use, is my rescue email address, despite having deleted that rescue email address. What in the world can I do? I'm about sick and tired of Apple ID's.Ok I'm goin to call your old Apple ID #1 your new email you want to use #2 and another email #3.
- go to http://appleid.apple.com
- select manage your apple id
- sign into #2
- edit primary email and change it to #3
- save changes and sign out
Now
- sign into #1
- edit primary
- change it to the email that was used for #2
- save changes
- check #2's email inbox for verification email
- verify account
If done correctly you should be fine, also in terms of #3 that would be an email you have that you dont mind being an apple id that you wont use. Sorry for the funny way of explaining just thought it would be shorter to type out lol.
Note: Once changes have been made you must sign out of features such as iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, iTunes & App Store as they will still display the old Apple ID. Sign in with new email but same password as normal. -
Everytime I use IE, first I have to click on the IE bar to allow blocked contect to display. What is the content that is being blocked from IE? viewers may not know what the problem is and see my site totally out of format.

The retina display has four times as many pixels as the non retina display.

I just rented a movie on my Apple TV and waited 2 1/2 hrs for it to download, which is fine, but when I paused it to run to the kitchen and came back and resumed...it said "Ready to play in 5 hours and 16 minutes. What in the world!? My 24 hrs will be up b4 I can watch
You must have a slower connection if it took 2.5 hours, did you pause it or exit out to the main screen? I've paused movies many times and it resumes..it could be due to the connection as well so what is your actual speed? Check www.speedtest.net Wifi or ethernet? Have you changed the DNS settings?

Photos, viruses, what in the world???
Please help if you can... I updated my husband's nano today, 1st time on this computer since he returned from overseas... his ipod now has over 400 pictures on it, however, my computer currently has only about 30. Our computer has been having issues for a while now. These are all older photos that I thought were no longer on my computer but somehow got onto his ipod and they were not originally put there before I sent his ipod to him, nor were they on the computer he used while overseas. So my guess is when I updated tonight they got on there somehow. When I tried to use the ipod as disk to get the photos back onto my computer, it only shows thumbs in the file which I guess is b/c full res pics wasn't enabled, but when I tried to open things in the files, Norton said it found a virus and deleted it. The photos are still on the nano though. Have you heard of ipods having viruses and did the virus come from my computer or from the ipod? The problem with the photos is I'd like to recover them if possible, b/c I can't find them on my computer or external hard drive, but if they are only thumbnails, how? And are they still somewhere on my computer which I'm guessing is where the ipod picked them up tonight,(but they are not in itunes, not in my pics, not in recycle bin, etc...) and if not, how in the world did they get on the ipod? Anyone with some computer knowledge, please please help
...and neither do we. Sorry, you need to provide a lot more info. You do not even tell us what you are doing, so this is - no offense - just pointless mumbling at the screen. What program do you use/ plan to use? What problems do you have? Download? Install? What system? What errors/ warnings?

An official site incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in requires .XML files to be uploaded. When .XML files are uploaded without digital signatures there is no problem. When digital signatures are required for signing the same a message 'CANNOT READ THE FILE FOR SIGNING" is displaced. It happens with CHROME and IE also. The solution which I have devised is that I copy the .XML files in a folder called FAKEPATH in C: drive and pick the file for signing from this folder. The browser allows the file to sign with digital signatures. What is the solution.

CUCM Licenses - what in the world is going on?
I'm utterly confused with my CUCM licensing and could really use some help.
We have a CUCM 9.1.1 that is having user license issues. We previously had 30 CUWL Standard (9.0) licenses, but were running out, so I purchased 10 of the L-CUWL-ADDON-STDK9. Once I had installed them, it said I still had 30 Standard, but also 10 CUWL Premium. So right off the bat I'm wondering if this is right.
I'm being told in CUCM that I'm using too many licenses. My usage in CUCM is as follows:
CUWL Standard: 3 used (3 users)
Enhanced Plus: 21 user (21 users)
Enhanced: 9 (9 users)
Basic, essential and Telepresence Room: 0
Note that when I click on the 21 Enhanced Plus Users, it gives me a report of these users. For some reason when I click on the Enhanced users, it just says "9 records found" and doesn't show me a list...
In ELM, apparently the problem is my Enhanced Users. I see the following:
CUWL Standard: 3 required, 30 installed, 0 unused
Enhanced Plus: 21 required, 0 installed, 0 unused
Enhanced: 9 required, 1 installed, -2 Unused
So my questions are:
-Can someone help me to understand how the math works, here?
-Should I be assigning an additional device to the Enhanced users to make them Enhanced Plus users? Will that fix the issue?
-What happened to my "CUWL Premium" licenses? How do they factor into this?
-Why won't CUCM show me which users are using Premium licenses?

2 for Enhanced would be showing out of compliance.

What in the world is going on?
I'm having trouble with making a DVD in iDVD6 on my Apple laptop. I decided to burn a copy of all 500 photos and put them on my iMAC and start making the DVD all over again.
1st problem - I burned the images in the albums, along with burning the saved slideshow but after it's saved onto my iMAC there is no official saved slideshow with the double slide icon in front of the slideshoe. It only has the word "slideshow" typed in the description.
#2 problem - When I highlight all the images and then click "slideshow" to make a savd slideshow it does indeed make the saved slideshow. The problem is 90% of the images show a gray screen with a dashed outlined square with an exclamation mark in the middle. But just for a second on each of these images the actual images flashes for a second and then the gray screen with the dashed outline appears. 10% of the images show up perfectly.
No way in the world making one DVD for a friend should be this hard. I really appreciate all the help I receive here.Deborah:
Try the following:
First download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, substituting your account name for mine. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. Also select one of the original files in the Originals folder of the iPhoto Library folder and bring up the Info window - Command+I. Then select Preview as the default application, even if it's already showing reselect, and click on the Apply to all... button.
If that doesn't help download iPhoto Library Manager, launch it and use the File->Rebuild library menu option to rebuild that library. Depending on the size of the library it could take a while, about 12 hours for a library of around 5000 photos.
Question: are you creating the slideshow in iPhoto and sending it to iDVD? If you're just creating the slideshow in iDVD you can export those photos to a folder and then import that folder into iDVD. Saves going thru iPhoto. Might be a workaround if needed. Good luck. -
IMac 8.1 dual core intel 21.5" 2007/8 has vertical streaks on display screen, what is the cause
my display has verticle streaks tat seem to be on everything, they are not differently colored than the background, just spaced about every 2.5-3 inches with a light dark light band space of about 2 inches and then again, repeated across the screen. It shows up on everything, but is more visible on some content than others. is it a video card going or what?
Thanks a lot! If i am going to spend a lot to get it fixed, i think I will wait a while and maybe get a new Imac or maybe a mini mac. with a separate monitor. I do love my imac, and before we got our macs we had many problems with viruses, crashed hard drives & various other problems. With the Imac, even though my husbands and mine are supposed to be the same they have suttle differences. but I have had a problem with the computer I have on warrenty it needed something replaced, Then this last fall we had 3 power outages in a row. They are on surge protectors, but even so, they shut themselves off, or the power did like a cold boot. after the power came back on, I turned it on, and then shortly thereafter the power went off again. Thensame scenario. and one more power failure. i think it was not the surge as I don;t think there would or could have been one, but because it was basically a cold boot 3 times in a row and the computer did not shut down properly, it crashed and would not come on. My husband, worked on it for a week and finally got a blue screen, and was able to get it going enough to format the hard drive. and re install everything. But a lit of files would not reinstall. I had a small 1 terrabyte backup and it was plugged in and programmed to cycle every day at certain times. Well to make a long story short, it did not like the cold boot any more than the computer. we ere able to save about 1/2 of my files. part of which was my photos. I had had 23,000 photos, and now i had 87,000, unorganized photos with many duplicates. it is a slow proceedure, but I have got that # down to 60,000 so far. I am missing my best folder I had with some genealogy info & other stuff in it. Was my personal folder. It would not load into the re done computer. but I still have the hard drive in case things change. I'm on a new Mac Mini running 10.6.4, bought in January and loaded with what I assumed was the latest version of FireFox--what I have is 3.5.2. I know I upgraded at least once since January
When I try to download 3.6.8, it says that I "don't have access to some of the items."

Try this:
- uninstall your current version of Firefox (no data will be lost)
- delete it's Firefox install folder (not your profile folder)
- install the new version
That should circumvent this problem. If you can't delete your Firefox install folder, after having uninstalled it, maybe it's because some of the files are locked. Try rebooting the system. If that doesn't help, ask Apple for support. -
I received a message that an update of QuickTime was available. I decided to update. When I re-started my computer, a shrill noise (error noise) occurred and a message popped up in a box: The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll Does anyone know what this means and how to correct it?
