  • Display CLOB field in Dashboard

    I have a column type as CLOB in my database. I want to display contents of a that field in the Dashboard, How can I do so ?
    On importing the column in the physical layer it maps the data-type to LONGVARCHAR(32768). It doesnot not display the contents on creating the reports, and even on casting to VARCHAR there is a limit upto 4000 characters.
    So, how can I display?
    thanks
    Rishabh

    There are a couple of approaches that you can use. I have blogged about both the approaches here http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/11/12/oracle-bi-ee-101332-working-with-clob-fields/ and http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/12/10/oracle-bi-ee-101332-displaying-blob-images-using-plsql-gateway/. Though the 2nd blog entry is on BLOBs you can use the same concept to display clobs.

  • ASP & Clob fields in the Oracle Database 8i

    Hi All,
    This is the first time I am posting a question. We are having a problem interfacing ASP pages with Clob fields int he Oracle Database.
    We are trying to display clob fields in an oracle database from ASP PAge. The ASP Page does a select to a clob field from a table. But we lose the formatting od the data inside the clob field when we display it out using ASP. We display it as a
    single stream of data. But when we display the clob using SQLPLUS we do see the formatted data.
    How can we solve this issue or circumvent it ?
    We are not looking to parse through the clob field in ASP, rather we already have a stored procedure that parses the data for us. The parsed data is then stored in a clob field already formatted the way we need it. The problem occurs when the ASP
    page reads the clob field. The ASP page reads it as one continuos string instead of the formatted data that exists in the clob field.
    I imported the data from Oracle to Access in order to view the raw data. The data is shown formatted properly in Access, so we know our stored procedure is doing what it supposed to do. As far as getting the data to display. The only way to retrieve (as far as I know) a clob field using ASP is by a built in function called GetChunk(). Is there a better method of displaying the formatted data aside from parsing on the client side, using ASP?
    Let me know if anyone has a solution to this problem.

  • How change a string in a CLOB field

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to explain my problem.
    I use an Asp procedure to load a html text in a Clob field.
    The simple algoritm is:
    - The first time that I visit the web address, I write in a field
    Desc_Webb_Attu --> CLOB
    - The second time that I visit the web address, I write in a field
    Desc_Webb_Attu_Temp --> CLOB
    - I see if there are differences between the first and the second visit, using this statment
    SELECT      dbms_lob.compare(Desc_Webb_Attu,Desc_Webb_Attu_Temp)
    From table
    The procedure run ok, but in the case of web addresses have a banner, counter or reloy, I'll have always that the web address will be modified :(
    I'm thinking to do in this way:
    If I can know where is the string of data (for example) I would change this string with blank, after to use the stament "compare".
    Do you know if is a statment or a procedure (I use Pl/sql) to resolve this?
    I hope that I have explained good
    Thank's for any suggestion

    for(i=0;arr!=null;i++)
    That's an infinite loop.OP: when you post code, use the code tags described here:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/help.jspa?sec=formatting
    The idea is that you put [code] at the start of your code and [/code]
    at the end. That way something like:
    [code]if(tagsUsed) {
        System.out.println("Output is nice.");
    }[/code]
    ends up displayed asif(tagsUsed) {
        System.out.println("Output is nice.");
    }This is especially important when arrays are used because otherwise
    bits of your your code "dissappear" (as you have found) and this causes
    confusion.

  • Addition of a field to Web UI

    Hi Experts,
    In SAP GUI, if we see the properties of the uploaded documents in the product catalog, you can see and edit properties like name, visible in search, keyword, filesize, version number, etc.
    On the Web UI , in product catalog management, if we see advanced properties for the documents, we can see properties like URL, Description, filename, etc . My problem is I can't see the version number of the document on the Web Ui. It is not there in the available fields of the view. The corresponding component is GS_CM and the view is EditProp. It has only one context node - 'Document' which does not have attribute corresponding to version number. I want the version number of the document to be displayed and edited on the Web UI. I have found out that the version number is stored in the table 'BDSPHPR18' key being the OBJECT ID and PROPERTY NAME.. for example.. for document ID  x .. property 'version number' .. value is 'y' ... where y is the version number. Rest of the properties are stored in some other tables.
    How can one proceed doing this?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Yaseen

    HI,
    The DOCUMENT context node is of type CMDocument and the version number should be available in the relation of that entity "CMDocumentVersionRel". You should create a context node in the same view with parent context node as CMDocument and it should give u the child entity as "CMVersion". The child context node will have the version details. See the structure in the genil_model_browser with component as CM. Then you use the proper field in the view from the created context node..

  • Adding a field in Web dynpro java in Travel Request application

    Hi All,
    How to add a field in Web dynpro java in Travel Request application or can we copy the Web dynpro java application to Web dynpro ABAP and add a field. Experts, Can you please suggest me step by step in resolving the problem.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kumar

    Hi Kumar,
    First, in order to customise the ESS webdynpro Java iViews you need to be aware that, you are about to change the SAP standard iviews. In order to avoid this you can make a copy of the SAP standard one's and then try to customise the copied one's.
    Now, you should have NetWeaver Development Infrastructure(NWDI) installed. Once it is installed you should also install the Netweaver Developer Studio (NWDS) on your computer.
    Once you have these two installed, you should deploy the ESS Business Package onto the NWDI by creating tracks. There is a cookbook available on SAP Service Marketplace for configuring NWDI for ESS.
    Once you have all the above mentioned tools, have a look at the following blog which clearly explains about the procedure of customising ESS iviews.
    /people/vinoth.murugaiyan/blog/2007/08/24/essmss-customization-150-make-it-simple
    Also check the following Wiki, this might be useful!
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/erphcm/employee%252bself%252bservice
    I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any issues.
    Dont forgett to contribute points if this is useful! All the Best.

  • Adobe Reader DC, doesn't disable "Display PDF Document in the web browser" when option is unchecked.

    The option under Accessibility>Setup Assistanct to uncheck the "Display PDF Document in the web browser" doesn't correctly disable Display PDF in browser when unchecked, it still defaults to opening in Internet Explorer even after restarting the browser.  Confirmed this tested agianst with IE 8, 9, 10 and 11 with the same behavior.  Moving back to Reader 11.0.10 and using this same setting works flawlessly.  Anyone else experiencing this issue?

  • Clob fields in OA Pages..

    Hi,
    I have a table with two clob fields and want to display them on a OA page. So that user can enter as much data he wants in different paragraphs. To accomplish this which type of "Item Style" should be used. Appreciate your help. Thank you.
    Vasu.

    The maximum size limit for LOBs is 8 to 128 terabytes, depending on your database block size. Why would you want the user to type out even 8 terabytes of text? Are you aware that your middle tier and all the applications running on it would be at the mercy of the user, and that he could force your application server to run out of memory just by uploading text more than the system memory.
    The VARCHAR2 column supports 32767 characters. If you expect the user to paste more than that, I think you should be using OAMessageFileUpload to load the file some file to a CLOB instead of making it user-enterable.

  • Radio buttons on Customer_H fields in Web UI

    Hi Experts,
    I have a requirement to include the Customer_H fields in Web UI. In the Customer_H table, there are 8 fields, which are currently used in the GUI as follows:
    Field 1 & 2 - Type char1 - Checkbox
    Fields 3 - 8 - Type char1 - 3 radio buttons for each field
    (depending on the selection of a radio button, a corresponding char value is set to the field)
    How do I use the same combination of radio buttons for fields 3-8 on the UI? On the UI, I see checkboxes by default for all the 8 fields.
    I have tried the following:
    For each of fields 3 - 8, I have set the following code in their P_GETTER methods:
      CASE iv_property.
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_fieldtype.
          rv_value = cl_bsp_dlc_view_descriptor=>field_type_radio.
      ENDCASE.
    Thus, in the configuration tab, I can see "Radio button group" written against these fields and field type as "Radiobutton" in the field properties.
    However, on launching the UI, I still see all these fields as checkboxes.
    Please help me in:
    i) Setting up the radio buttons for these fields (do I need to use value nodes?)
    ii) Displaying the radio buttons on the UI
    iii) Capturing the selected radio button's value and updating the customer_h field.
    Look forward to your reply.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Vicky

    Hi Stephen,
    I understand your point and agree to it.
    However, I have been able to solve the issue now.
    Solution:
    We need to use the P_GETTER method of the EEWB ZZ field to define:
    i) the field type as radio button,
    ii) the radio button group,
    iii) The way radio buttons should be arranged (horizontally or vertically). If we put no. of cols = 1, then these will be arranged vertically.
    We need to use V_GETTER of the same ZZ field to:
    Assign the key & value to the radio buttons (coding is similar as for dropdowns).
    Following is the code:
    *method GET_P_ZZCUSTOMER_H0101.*
      CASE iv_property.
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_fieldtype.
          rv_value = cl_bsp_dlc_view_descriptor=>field_type_radio.
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_radio_cols.
          rv_value = 3.
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_group.
          rv_value = 'R1'.
      ENDCASE.
    endmethod.
    *method GET_V_ZZCUSTOMER_H0101.*
      DATA:  lt_ddlb     TYPE bsp_wd_dropdown_table,
             ls_ddlb     TYPE bsp_wd_dropdown_line.
      IF GR_DDLB_FIELD0101 IS NOT BOUND.
        CREATE OBJECT GR_DDLB_FIELD0101
          EXPORTING
            iv_source_type = 'T'.
          clear : ls_ddlb.
          ls_ddlb-key = '1'.
          ls_ddlb-value = 'P1'.
          append ls_ddlb to lt_ddlb.
          clear : ls_ddlb.
          ls_ddlb-key = '2'.
          ls_ddlb-value = 'P2'.
          append ls_ddlb to lt_ddlb.
          clear : ls_ddlb.
          ls_ddlb-key = '3'.
          ls_ddlb-value = 'P3'.
          append ls_ddlb to lt_ddlb.
          GR_DDLB_FIELD0101->set_selection_table( lt_ddlb ).
      ENDIF.
      rv_valuehelp_descriptor = GR_DDLB_FIELD0101.
    endmethod.
    Say the field label of the field ZZCUSTOMER_H0101 is "Grade", then it will show in the UI as below:
    Grade    () P1       () P2       () P3
    () = radio button.
    Hope it helps.
    Cheers
    Vicky

  • Extracting xmldata from clob field in oracle

    I have an xml document stored in xmltype (clob)field in oracle
    Below is the xml data inside the xml ( I have kind of 300 elements similar to this inside the xml)
    <ns1:E-I12_IS_13 ObjID="I12" ObjType="e">5437090</ns1:E-I12_IS_13>
    <ns1:E-I13_IS_14 ObjID="I13" ObjType="e">5</ns1:E-I13_IS_14>
    <ns1:E-I14_IS_15 ObjID="I14" ObjType="e">9</ns1:E-I14_IS_15>
    The requirement is to get all the elements from the xmldata and compare against the 15-16 oracle tables ( here xml is converted and stored in these tables by a tibco process)
    select dbms_lob.instr(clobcolumnname,'E-I13_IS_14') from tablename  where  ( given condition to extract specific transaction)
    the above statement gives me position of the string
    select dbms_lob.substr(clobcolumnname,6( length of element value),870(position from where the value starts)) from tablename where  condition
    the abv statement gives me the element value
    but I want to extract the value for  any element by giving the element name ( if u see any value comes after objtype="e"  between > and < tags)
    can anyone on this forum tell me to extract the element value just by giving element name ( since I have to do the same for n number of elements - how to find position of > and < tags??)

    I had the same issue a while ago.  I ended up with an assistance class with  set/get read only methods.  I then used the following type code to set the read only property in the WDDOMODIFYVIEW:
    DATA: lr_start_date TYPE REF TO cl_wd_input_field,
            lr_end_date TYPE REF TO cl_wd_input_field,
            lr_pernr TYPE REF TO cl_wd_input_field,
            lv_read_only TYPE abap_bool.
    lr_start_date ?= view->get_element( 'INP_START_DATE' ).
      lr_end_date ?= view->get_element( 'INP_END_DATE' ).
      lr_pernr ?= view->get_element( 'INP_PERSON' ).
    lv_read_only = wd_assist->get_read_only( ).
      IF lv_read_only = abap_true.
        lr_end_date->set_read_only( abap_true ).
        lr_start_date->set_read_only( abap_true ).
        lr_pernr->set_read_only( abap_true ).
      ELSE.
        lr_end_date->set_read_only( abap_false ).
        lr_start_date->set_read_only( abap_false ).
        lr_pernr->set_read_only( abap_false ).
      ENDIF.
    All my business logic is within my assistance class so it makes it easier to maintain.

  • BLOB/CLOB field issue

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement where there are BLOB/CLOB fields in the database containing word documents/gifs/
    pdf files which need to pulled in the report as attachments. The attachments then need to be opened using the
    respective applications like MS word etc.
    Please let me know if this is feasible and if Oracle BI EE supports BLOB/CLOB data types. Are there any projects
    which have implemented similar requirements?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Andy

    This can be done, but might need lot of work. Have you taken a look at this, especially first one.

  • How could we add fields in web ui

    Hello Expert,
    Could  any body say that how could I add new field in Web UI... Please revert...
    Thanks
    Satish Lath

    Hi Satish,
    What Silpa has replied is the approach to bring an existing field into webui. If you have a requirement to add a new field then you can do it either through AET or EEWB.

    Follow the above blogs to know more about EEWB and AET.

  • Displaying only populated fields

    Is there any quick way to display only those fields that are populated with a value ? We have a third party help desk application running on Oracle 7.3.x. Some of the tables have been defined with MANY fields. I need a way of displaying the contents of only the populated fields.
    Thanks in advance,
    David

  • Getting all occurrences from a clob field

    I created a clob field to store an XML document. I have tried the SUBSTR, INSTR, REGEXP_SUBSTR, DBMS_LOB.INSTR functions to extract all occurrence of the XML tab <systemLink>.
    I just get 1 occurrence of the XML tag.
    Has anyone done this before.
    Thanks.

    All occurrences in a single row
    select extract(xmltype(your_clob_field),'//systemLink')
    from dualOr all occurrences in distinct rows
    select *
    from TABLE (XMLSEQUENCE (EXTRACT (XMLTYPE (your_clob_field), '//systemLink'))) ; Max
