Display String in cross tab in place of blank cell

Hi,
I am using CR 2008  and my issue is when i run crosstab i am getting a blank values fro some data becuase which that criteria there is no data in Database . I need to display a string in that area. How can I achieve this?

Hi Venkat,
There is a Display String formula for fields, accessed by right-clicking the field and selecting Format Field.  This is used to tell Crystal exactly what should be displayed for the field.  Add the following logic (basic syntax):
if CurrentFieldValue = 0 then
  formula = "your display srting"
else
  formula = cstr(CurrentFieldValue, "0.00")
end if
This will cause all zero values to display as blank.  I added the "0.00" parameter to the cstr() function to show that's how you tell cstr() how you want the number formatted.  See the online help for cstr() for details.

  • Seconds to Time Conversion for Display on a Cross-Tab

    I am doing a cross-tab report of login times for hours logged into a system. In the cross-tab if i use the time, I can't sum. So i have the time converted to seconds to allow for a sum and totals.  Now I need to change the display of the field to time.   When I go to my Format Field of the field in seconds, under Common tab i go to Display String.  I put in the following formula: totext((/60)/60,0,"","") & ":" & totext(truncate(remainder(/60,60)),0) & ":" & totext(remainder({Secondin_Logins.T},60),0);   My problem is it changes all to report the same time; no time is different. And the formula is wrong becuase when i do the hours if it is .501 or high it rounds up. Anyone have any solutions to convert seconds to Time?

    Part of the probem may be the crosstab,   any way, this example uses a group but should be generic enough to give you some ideas.
    whileprintingrecords;
    StringVar Hours1;
    StringVar Minutes1;
    StringVar Seconds1;
    NumberVar time2;
    time2:= 0;
    if Sum ({Work Time}, ) = 0 then 0 else
    time2:= Sum ({Work Time}, );
    If time2 <= 0 Then

    Else

  • Display Data in Cross Tab Format...Per Quarter

    Hi Team,
    I have following issue...which i am struggling to solve...
    My current report format is
    Material Technology -  Q1(Qty) Q2(QTY) Q3(QTY) Q4(QTY) - Q1(Pirce) Q2(Pirce) Q3(Pirce) Q4(Pirce) - Q1(Rate) Q2(Rate) Q3(Rate) Q4(Rate)
    I have generated cross tab report...in which i am getting following display...
    Material Technology Q1(Qty) Q1(Price) Q1(Rate)  and so on...
    Is there any way i can get the required format...please assist..
    Q1 to Q4 - Quarter 1 to 4...
    regards
    nic

    Hi Nic,
    The problem is you have 3 measure objects available: qty, price and rate.
    If you put them in a vertical table then you will have 3 columns. As soon as you put in the quarter to create the crosstab BO will the for each quarter display the qty, price and rate.
    To solve your problem is to not create a cross-tab, but a vertical table.
    For each measure object you crreate 4 new variables (type measure) using the the formula:
    E.g. for the quantity in the first quarter you create variable like: qty_q1
    =<qty> Where (<quarter> = 1)
    The same you do for the quantities for the other quarters.
    And you do the same for the price and rate.
    Ending up with 12 new variables which you can put in a vertical table in any order you like.

  • Rows limit in Cross Tab

    I receive this message "The numbers of rows or columns exceeds its limit,65535" although it reads more 100,000 records but does not shows
    Can anybody help please.
    Regds
    Basil

    Hi Basil
    Cross tabs have a limitation on the amount of rows and/or columns that can be displayed within the cross tab object. This limitation is 65,535.
    To work around this limitation, use grouping within the cross tab to limit the amount of rows/columns displayed.

  • Date Formatting in Charts and Dynamic column resizing in Cross tabs

    Hi All,
    I am new to Design Studio, so am in desperate need of your help on the following:
    Is there a way we can change the date format in x axis in charts?
    For ex: Am getting dates as mm/yyyyy from BW but requirement is to show in yy-Mon
    Requirement is to display data in cross tab just below the charts. How can I make the column widths in the cross tab the same as x-axis divisions in the chart? Also, this will be dynamic as depending on filter selection x axis scaling in charts will vary.
    In cross tab, can I hide the column header?
    Would really appreciate any kind of help from you.
    Thanks & Regards
    Swasti

    HI Swasti,
    To answer your first question, in Design Studio it's what you see is what you get! so it shows the Data Labels as it is in the BEx output, if you have to modify this you have to change it in the Background.
    There might be CSS workarounds, but I am not sure if that will satisfy your requirements.
    You can fix the Column width, but it would be constant, aligning that to your X-axis would require a lot of Effort.
    You cannot hide the Column header directly, but one workaround would be to use a white BG text component to overlay on the Crosstab.

  • Crystal Reports 10 Cross Tab Report Issue

    I created a Cross Tab Report with multiple rows of data.  It has two columns to return data for Year 2008 and Year 2009.  When reading the database the report does not return data for rows that have a result of 0 in both columns even though Suppress Empty Rows is NOT checked in the Cross Tab Expert Customize Style Tab.  Any suggestions as to how to get all of the rows to display including those with results of 0?

    I'm guessing that your issue is that "results of 0" is really a lack of data, not that something is there and is summing to zero.
    In that case, you need to base your report on an SQL Command.  Take the SQL that the report is currently using, and UNION it with another select statement that returns all of the rows that you are looking for with zero values; something like this:
    UNION
    select category, 0 as PY_Value, 0 as CY_Value
    from categories
    This will cause the data to be there, which will cause the rows to display on the cross tab.

  • Display two different column types in cross tab

    I am using Cross Tab template in crystal XI and I have to show two different column types one is of type int and other is of type string. Below is the format of the report
                                  AmountGiven             Amount Spent            Attended
    Mike                       5000                              3000                         Yes
    Steve                     200                                 200                           No
    Is there a way I can do this showing "yes" or "no" in the third column???
    Thanks...

    Hi
    If you are trying to show "yes" or "no" for a column value in a cross tab, then yes we can try using a formula for it.
    I would suggest you 2 ways that you can try at your end:
    1.
    a) Create a formula in the cross tab expert and write your condition.
    for eg: if Sum({Orders.Order amount}) > 5000 then "yes" else "no"
    b) Then select that formula in the summarized fields in cross tab expert and change the summary to MODE.
    c) You can see the "yes" and "no" Within the same box.
    2.
    a) Add a field to the colums in the cross tab expert.
    b) A column gets inserted in the cross tab.
    c) Right click the field and select format field.
    d) Go to Common tab and write a formula for the display string.
    e) Write the condition in that formula.
    f) You can see a new column with the expected values.
    Hope this helps you..

  • How to Display two different objects in a single table header in Cross Tab?

    i All,
    I've a reqiurement for a Cross Tab Report like I need two different objects that should be displayed side-by-side, one object's values after another in a single header. In the picture below I've shown the objects separately in two rows, top header having BSNLNL,MTNLNL,RCOMNL and Header-2 having AIRTIL,RCOMIL. But requirements needs to be showing like this,
    BSNLNL
    MTNLNL
    RCOMNL
    AIRTIL
    RCOMIL
    Actually, the data for the header comes from a single object called Operator. I've show the Operators name ending with NL and after that names ending with IL. So, i've separated the data into two variables using the below formulae.
    IL:
    =[Billing Operator]
    Where
    Match([Billing Operator];"*IL")=1
    NL:
    =[Billing Operator]
    Where
    Match([Billing Operator];"*NL")=1
    Also, the NL data should start first and after the NL data's last value ends, the IL data should begin.
    One more thing is that I've to show '0' for null values. So i've used the below formulae on the column data. You can see below that except the "Outgoing ILD Mins in the month from Mobile Network" everything else showing fine. I don't understand why.
    =If
      Substr([Franchise];3;1)="M"
      Then
       [Mobile Outgoing Charged Usage Minutes]
       Else
       0
    I tried different approaches but couldn't find a solution. Could you please help me?
    I'm using BO WebI 4.1 SP1
    Regards,
    Naren Vema.

    Hi Naren,
    No need to split Billing Operator object. Create a variable-
    V_IL_NL= If  Match([Billing Operator];"*IL")=1 Then "IL" ElseIf Match([Billing Operator];"*NL")=1 Then "NL"
    1) Put V_IL_NL variable below Billing Operator object header.
    2) Sort and create break on this variable.
    3) Delete Footer column. it will automatically create when you apply break.
    4) Hide V_IL_NL variable from this header.

  • How to display a row in Cross Tab when the count summary is zero

    My customer wants a row for all possible data, even when the count is zero.  How can I get a row to display when there is no data?  Using an example:  Display status for incidents - possible five statuses, but selection only results in four statuses because no incident were cancelled.  Customer wants all five statuses to display in cross tab with cancelled showing '0' (zero))
    Open
    WIP
    Cancelled
    Pending
    Closed

    This worked for the last guy who had a similar issue.
    Take a look at what it's doing. You should be able to use the same principal to meet your needs...
    I'm assuming that you'll only need to show 4 weeks at a time on your report.
    The easiest way to do it is by creating 8 separate formula fields:
    W1A
    W1RT
    W2A
    W2RT
    ... and so on
    I don't know how your data is coming across but the formula should go something loke this:
    W1A... IF datepart(ww,currentdate) - datepart(ww,) =0 THEN
    W1RT... IF datepart(ww,currentdate) - datepart(ww,) =0 THEN
    W2A... IF datepart(ww,currentdate) - datepart(ww,) =1 THEN
    W2RT... IF datepart(ww,currentdate) - datepart(ww,) =1 THEN
    ... and so on
    If I got you weekly criteria wrong, sorry. It's just a best guess.
    Anyway you should be able get the idea. It gives you the effect of a crosstab without the headaches of a crosstab.
    Hope this works for you,
    Jason

  • Hierachichal display is not coming for field in cross tab crystal report

    Hi,
    I have a dimension  "Cost center" in DSO on which Hierarchy is defined in SAP BI.
    When I developed one cross tab report on this DSO, values for Cost Center fields are displayed in flat mode and not in Hierarchical mode.
    I also set group option on this "Cost center" field  in report And in Report menu "Hierarchical Grouping option" also check box ticked for "Sort data hierarchically" and also selected Instance id field.
    how to get this?
    **Note: same problem when report is developed on Infocube.*+
    Please help me.
    Thanks,
    Dhana.

    Hi Dhana,
    I've created a similar report to show matrix WBS x RBS, and WBS are grouped hierarchically.
    My report developed in this way:
    - I've created Hierarchical group located in detail section of report. In detail section I've put the row field of cross table.
    - I've suppress all this section: group header, group footer and detail
    - I've created the cross table in Report Footer
    The report show correctly

    i tried sum,cell sum but didn't worked out.
    and i am not suppose to use cellsum distinct (status_cnt is repeating.)
    how i have to display subtotals and grand totals in my cross-tab report.
    i am using OracleBI Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.1)

    Hi,

  • How to display Zero(0) values in cross tab format in Webi???

    Hi All,
    Is there a way to display the zero(0) or null values in cross tab format in
    webi. I can able to display in Regular tabular format in Webi as u got an option
    in Properties --> Display --> Show all rows/columns, but it is not working when
    i am using Cross Tab format for the same data.
    Regards
    Ram

    Hi Sunil,
    Happy to see your solution. My requirement is that if you have a data like
    SBU,                   Cadre,                Value
    Chemical Buss,     Manger,                  45
    Crop Buss,            Workmen,               63
    Agri Buss,              Executive,              70
    Chemical Buss,     Executive,              84
    Agri Buss,              Workmen,              -
    Crop Buss,                 -,                        -
    So now we need to get the rows or columns that are having blank values. Say like if Crop Buss is not having any values so it wont be displayed, but actually it has to be displayed.

  • Displaying Alternate row as colored in Cross tab

    Hi,
    I have a report where I need to display alternate rows as colored.
    There is some data in detail section followed by a cross tab in the report header section.
    While I am able to display alternate rows as colored in Detail secction for displaying alternate colored rows in Cross tab data I need some help.
    Data in cross tab is like this
                  history geography
    Tammy   90          60
    Sid         80          50
    Julia       70        40
    In cross tab for displaying alternate colored rows ie for alternate student names  I am using two formulas
    - for displaying row values I am using this one
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar d;
    d := iif(d=100,255,100);
    color(255,255,d);
    For displaying alternate colored inner cells ie marks  I am using this formula
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar c;
    c := iif(c =255,100,255);
    color(255,255,c)
    I got these formulas after doing Googling
    My cross tab is present in report footer and in the generated report it comes separeated in two pages.
    In the first page data for Tammy and Sid is displayed while Julia is displayed on next page.
    Now the Tammy is coming as yellow colored and as expected Sid is coming as white colored. However Julia which is on next page is coming as white , but logically it should have come as yellow. On the other hand my column data ie marks column is coming fine. Data for tammy and sid is coming as alternately colored and data is Julia on the next page is coming as yellow(as data for Sid is in white)
    I am not able to understand why this is happening and what is the correct way to do alternate row coloring in cross tabs

    Where is your variable c being reset.
    If in page header or group header and you have repaet group header on new page then c will be reset on each page.
    If In groupheader try adding this to reset formula
    if not inrepeatedgroupheader then
