Displaying a larger image from a thumbnail [was: Question]

I would like to display a larger image from a thumbnail inserted on the web page. I inserted a rollover image, used the thumbnail as the original and a larger and different jpeg image as the rollover image. However, when the mouse rolled over the thumbnail, the new rollover image (different then the original) was the same size as the original. Is there an easier way to display a larger image from a thumbnail? What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Could you also provide a CSS solution to opening a non _self page that is the same size as the image displayed on the page.
Not possible with pure CSS. Sorry. Your best option is to use one of the jQuery Lightbox scripts mentioned below.

Hi there
For a mouseover you would have to add some custom developed JavaScript. You could probably find some pre-made on the web if you poked around.
Generally speaking, any way you slice it you will be using two images. One for the thumbnail and one for the full sized image. You could employ the popup functionalty to pop up the larger image.
I used to simply create DHTML drop-downs and insert the large images in the drop-down area.

Opening an image from the thumbnail

When I open an image from a thumbnail I get a ! surrounded by a dotted line box. I can't find any help on what the problem is. It was fine last night

This is caused by the high resolution photo being disassociated form the iPhoto database. User activity within the iPhoto library can cause this as can random computer or disk error.
If you have not made any changes in the iPhoto library a rebuild may fix it -backup your iPhoto library and launch iPhoto while depressing the option (alt) and command (apple) keys and use the first three rebuild options

How can I get iWeb gallery to display high-res images from iPhoto?

Since iWeb has been discontinued by Apple I'm skeptical if you'll get any help on how to hack the application in order to have larger images in the slideshow. Since MobileMe will be discontinued this June 30 and with it the galleries you might stat looking for an alternative.
One alternative that gives the user considerable latitude in image size and quality is Jalbum. It offers nearly 100 themes or skins. This demo page has one theme that lets you change skins on the fly: Jalbum Examples plus a couple of others.

CS3 How to style larger image window that thumbnail links to

Hi,
Can anyone advise on how to format the larger image a thumbnail links to? When I click on the link created from the thumbnail, the larger image just comes up tucked in the top left corner. I am creating this gallery manually because I don't have Fireworks, only CS3, which Fireworks didn't come with.
Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This has to be simple, and I am just missing it.
I am displaying an image in an interactive report, using apex_util.get_blob_file_src.
I need to add a link to "Click to popup larger image".
This is an upgrade of a form that did this the old way, using custom image display.
Is there a way to do this using apex_util.get_blob_file_src?
Perhaps I am just getting the syntax wrong -
The image is displayed as in the sample app - I just the the correct syntax to open the image in a popup window on click, presumable using popupURL or popUp2.

That is exactly what I have already done - seemed the cleanest, fastest way to get the job done and move on.
With a bit more research, I suspect I could implement a jQeury solution that nicely displays an image in a popup - but as this was an upgrade, the task was to get it working.
Using the APEX page, single region, image item is a nice clean way to make it work.
With a little styling to control the size of the image (these were not controlled upon input, as they should have been in this case), all work smoothly.

Problem in displaying a selected image from the browser

How come I always get the same image (the last) when I select an image from a browser. I used IMAQ Browser Forcus (with mouse click)to send an index to Index Array, then with IMAQ WindDraw to display the image,but it is always the same image (the last) that shows in the new window.

Print a large image from browser on one page

How can I print a large image that is generated by one of my servlets in a response page on one single paper page, (e.g A4 format). When I choose to use Print from Internet Explorer or Netscape the image is printed on 3 pages. Any stretch that I tried with Javascript does'n work. I dont want to use a plug-in. Can this be done with an applet or other way?

So you are asking "How can I take an image in my browser and shrink it to fit on a single page?" This has nothing to do with JSPs, of course, because once the image is in your browser the JSP or servlet is long gone. What I usually do is to save the image to a file, then I use the (Kodak) Imaging for Windows accessory to load that file and print using the "Fit to Page" option.

My PSE 5.0 Organizer catalog now won't display any new image from the Editor

Every attempt to Save As from the Editor gets the message, "There was a problem acessing the Organizer catalog. It may be in use by another process, or a disc error occurred."
Then when I attempt to get the same image using the FIle menu and Get Photos ...From Files and Folders, even though the newly saved file is correcly in there as shown by the thumbnail, I get this message:
The ODBC data source reported the following error: "[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Acess Driver] Cannot open database 'I'. It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt."
I have repeatedly shut down the programs and the whole computer, and although this problem occasionally occurred in the past, now that's all I get.
How can I get my Catalog to show these images?

Problem displaying binary tif image from rfc

The problem is that I get a corrupted file and i cant see or open it .
Some more details:
The original image size is 42,234 bytes
i get from the RFC after merging the array 43,008 bytes i think that the extra bytes that a get are the problem , but i don't have any idea how to get rid of them or solve the problem .
My WAS version is nw04 sp19
Does any one encounter this problem? Or can guide me what to do?

How can i see the previews of a folder's images from the Thumbnail View?

I mean, in windows XP if you set the Thumbnail View, inside the icon of the folder you can see the preview of the images inside ( like this http://mowd.idv.tw/LonghornPDC/folder_preview.JPG )...
Is there a way to do it on Mac OS X? Maybe some plug-in, some file manager: anything...i often have to check out thousands of photos to find the reference for an illustration, and it's pretty frustrating having to open up every folder...

but none of these two options allows me to see a folder's images BEFORE opening it...
You want to go back and try that again... just right click on the folder - you don't have to open it - and choose 'Show In PicturePopPro2'.
Check out the icons on the menu bar - you can get a contact sheet view, move from shot to shot using the arrow keys... it'll do what you want.

Show larger image from database

Hello.
On my detail page I have a small picture that shows a product
generated from an access database. The particular record is linked
from the master page by url. What I want to do is enable customers
to click on that image and by doing so show them a larger version
of which I made a seperate variable with the path name (Works). How
do I do this? What is the best and most elegant way? Pop up?

Safari does not display my background-image from my CSS

I am creating a web site in which I want an image to be seen in the backgound with the text "floating" over it. The code is listed below.

Display a large image

Can anyone tell me how to display alarge image(i.e. map.jpg) in a JPanel with a scrollbar so that I can scroll the whole image?

use a jlabel to display the image and add the jlabel in a jscrollpane(enable the scrollbars as neccasary) and add the jscrollpane to a panel r jframe..

i think the way the html code is written for the page that the picture may be squished into a space that is smaller than the actually photo. However, I'm no html expert i could be wrong. Hope this helps
