Displaying exact playlist length for CD burning

I like to burn my own CDs of my assorted favorite music, and I like to get as much music into a single CD as I can -- the full 80 minutes. However, iTunes will not display the playlist length in minutes once the length gets over an hour, so I'm forced to approximate around 1.2 to 1.3 hours. Is there a way to get the length of a playlist to display in minutes no matter how long it is?
Windows XP

That's fantastic. I've needed this solution for a long time, and I can't believe it never occured to me to just try clicking.

The Friend: Thanks from me too for that super simple fix!! I feel kinda stupid for not knowing that.
    Too bad Apple didn't:
Give it a more intuitive name than "Status Bar"... "status" is what is shown at the top of the window along with the Artist and Song Title, e.g.; how far into the song/podcast/video I've played and how much is left,
Put the keyboard commands in a more prominent place in their release notes when version 11 came out so we could more easily find the information they decided to hide in this attempt to make the desktop less cluttered and
Allow us the option of displaying the data size along with the song count and duration just beneath the playllist title. The status bar is a redundant listing of information except for the data size!  Poorly conceived!
Perhaps Apple will remedy this in a future release. For those of us who like to burn our playlists to CD, DVD and even a thumb drive this information is essential. WIthout it, we're left to guess whether a given playlist will fit on our target device.
    Thank you!

    Many thanks for the diagnostics.
Failed while scanning for CD / DVD drives, error 2380.
Error while opening iTunes CD driver.  This could be caused by a corrupted iTunes file or a conflict with other older CD burning applications, either currently installed or previously installed and uninstalled incorrectly.
With that one, I'd start with solution 3 from the following document:

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

  • Set horizontal length for Bridge display?

As a new Bridge user, I'm finding the program potentially useful but a bit frustrating.
When I view a file of pictures in Bridge, I'm finding that the number of pictures I can view entirely depends on the scale that I specify in the bottom slider. The pictures that Bridge doesn't have room to show simply dissapear off to the right hand side of the window.
The only "solution" that I've been able to find is to reduce the scale of the pictures shown on the viewing screen down to such a tiny size that I can no longer see the picture (or sometimes even the entire file name).
What I'd like to do is set some sort of a finite length for Bridge's effective viewing screen, and have the program move the pictures that don't fit at top down to the next row below. Is there some way to do this?

This is not normal, but have seen posts on this before. My memory is dim so can not remember what the fix was.
Things to check - is monitor set to native resouliton?
Do you have it set up for a 2 monitor views even though you only have one screen?

  • What's the maximum size a playlist can be when burning?

I always need to leave a few meg under 700 when burning a playlist to 700meg cd and was wondering if anybody knew the maximum a playlist can be to burn? Not sure if the media has anything to do with it. Would just be nice to be able to plan ahead since I make a lot of comps and sometimes need to cut a song at the last moment.

I'm making mp3 cds. Technically I'm using CD-R Audio discs (80min/700mb) as I have a home-audio cd burner and these discs are compatible with both. The problem is that I have tried to burn playlists that are close to 700mb but wouldn't burn as iTunes said it was too large for the disc, so I need to leave ~3-5mb free for it to burn. I guess it uses that space for the index/xml or other data. I was just wondering if anybody knew exactly, or very close to the maximum you can burn.

  • How do you display exact duplicates in Itunes 11. It is now missung under the file?

How do you display exact duplicates in Itunes 11. It is now missung under the file?

Right-click on this direct link to ExactDuplicates and "download" or "save link as..." to a location of your choice. Double-click to the file to run it. You should get something a bit like this:
If your system will allow it my script will produce a progress bar so you can see what is going on, otherwise you will have to be patient, it will carry on working in the background.
After scanning for duplicates it then adds them to a new playlist. For large libraries this process can be quite slow. (Very slow if you also have old hardware like me.)
Finally you'll get a results window like this (from a different test run, as I didn't have time for the full one to finish when I was grabbing screenshots).
You can use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist. Leave at least one track behind from each repeated group and don't send anything to the recycle bin unless you are sure you have more than one physical copy.
The DeDuper script has several advantages over cleaning by hand. Automating the process allows preservation & amalgamation of ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. See this thread for more detail.

  • HT2905 Display exact duplicates is grayed out - cannot access

When I go to View, Display Exact Duplicates, it is grayed out - cannott access. Even if I could access, will it give me option to delete all duplicates?

Make sure you have updated to iTunes 11.0.1 (or later).
Enable the menu bar with ctrl-b if needed
Use Edit > Preferences > General > Show list views for all media
In Music use the Songs view, or select the List view for other media/playlists
Use View > Display Duplicates or, more usefully,  hold Shift and use View > Display Exact Duplicates.
Keep one of each repeated group of files and don't send to the recycle bin unless you are sure that there are multiple files on the disc as opposed to multiple entries to the same file.
There is also my DeDuper script if you don't want to do it by hand. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background on deduping and the script.

  • How do I display the playlist(s) to which my music has been assigned?

I know that I have music in my library which is not in any of my playlists. The question is, "Which songs?" I suppose I could look in the playlist I think it should be in to see if it's there, but by number 500 or so my eyes get kind of tired; and what if I put it in the wrong playlist by accident; or what if I overlooked it? I suppose I could just start from scratch too, but I hope I don't have to do that. I think it would be a lot simpler if there were a way to display the playlist to which a piece of music is assigned in the music library window. That way I could see what playlist each piece was in as well as see if there are pieces that are not in any playlist. It would even be helpful if I could just click on an individual song to see what playlist, if any, I have it in. Is there a way to do either of these things? I hope so

Using the Smart Playlist idea was a great help. It worked perfectly! Thank you very much for the suggestion. I really appreciate it. Now all of my music has been assigned to at least one Playlist. I always worry, though, that I may have accidentally dragged a song to the Playlist above or below it; or maybe I should have put it in different Playlist; or more than one Playlist. I guess I have a little OCD. Anyway, it would be nice just to be able to review all of the music information, including the playlists that are assigned, in the music list. It would be a lot easier with a lot less clicking. Thanks to your suggestion, though, I now know that all of the songs have been assigned to Playlists. Again, I appreciate your help. Thank you.

  • How to find the exact user exit for our requirement?

    Dear Mr. keerthi,
can you please explain me how to find the exact user exit for our requirement?

    Hi sandip
There is more than one method in which you can check for user-exits.The following method is used very often.
<b>How to find the exact user-exit for your requirement.</b>
    1.     You can check the user exists using transaction SE85.
    2.     Repository Information System -> Enhancements -> Customer exits
    3.     You can search the user-exits by package name.
    4.     Double click on each exit name to check the function module exits.
<b>The procedure to find the package name.</b>
    Execute transaction SE93
Enter the tcode of the transaction for which you want to check the user exit.
Example: if you want to find the user-exit for purchase orders while changing, enter ME22n  and press display.
You will get to see the package name
But you need to confirm that the user exit will get triggered at the appropriate event.
( example: you might want some validations to be done ON SAVE of a purchase order)
<b>Checking if the user-exit is getting triggered or not.</b>
    1.     Open the user exit function module (that you have got in step 4) in Tcode SE37.
    2.     Click on where used button. In the pop up that immediately appears choose only programs .
    3.     You will get a list of programs. Double click on the program name.
    4.     You will get the list of location where this function module user exit is used.
    5.     Place session break points at each of these location ( at each CALL FUNCTION statement)
    6.     Now go to your transaction ( say change purchase order tcode:Me22n) and check if the user exit is getting triggered on appropriate event.
    regards,
    Prasad

  • Preparing audio for CD burning

I think that the information here applies to all versions of Audition, including CS5.5, because it relates to using an external burner. There may be small variations between different versions, but I will check this out and modify the document later, if needs be. Ozpeter's original guide (which this mainly is) will certainly give you the basic information you need, though:
If this is the first time you've tried this, you might consider using a  suitable test file to experiment on, and burn to a re-writable CD.
Assuming  that your material is fully prepared - that you have got a single  44.1kHz 16-bit stereo file displayed in edit view, possibly as a result  of a mixdown from the multitrack - you can proceed as follows:
Right click on the time scale at the bottom of the waveform.
Choose 'Display Time Format>Compact Disc 75fps'.
Right click on the time scale again
    Choose 'Snapping>Snap to frames (always)'.
Those steps should help ensure click-free transitions from one track to another.
Go  to the beginning of the file and click there, so that the cursor is at  00:00:00:00 - press F8, and that will drop a cue mark there representing  the start of track one on the CD. Now place the cursor at the point in  the file that you want to set as the beginning of the second CD track.  Press F8 to place a cue mark there. Proceed through the file in a  similar fashion until the start of every track has been marked. Then  finally place a cue mark at the end of the last track, normally the end  of your displayed file.
It might be a good idea to save the file now, with the cue marks in it. To ensure that the cues are saved, use "save as..." and put a check mark in the "save non-audio data" box. The program should default to this setting in the future.
    Now select 'View>Show Cue List'.
In normal Windows fashion highlight (select) all the cues listed there.
Press the Merge button that is part of the cue list window.
Your  cues have now been changed into ranges , which represent the start of  track one to the end of track one, the start of track two to the end of  track two, and so on.
Now highlight all the ranges, and press the 'Batch' button.
In the dialog that appears, click on the 'Save to files' button so that the lower part of the dialog is enabled.
Enter  something relevant in the 'Filename prefix' box - like "Track" or  "Song" or whatever - this will ultimately create files called "Track1,  Track2" etc or "Song1, Song2...."
    Set Seq. Start to "1".
Specify the Destination Folder in normal Windows fashion.
Set the Output Format to "Windows PCM".
    Click on "OK"
This will generate in the directory you specified the files you will then burn to CD using Nero or whatever.
In  Nero, the audio CD wizard should guide you through the process. Each  file will become a separate track with a separate track number.
If  you have allowed space between the tracks when you laid them out in the  Edit view in the first place, you probably don't want Nero to add 2  seconds between each track. The same applies if it is continuous  material like a live concert - you don't want silence between the  tracks. So in the Nero list of tracks, highlight all but the first  track, right click and select Properties, then set 'Pause' to zero.
In the burn dialog, make sure that you set the Write Method to 'disc at once'.
Sounds  complicated? Not really. Once you've done it the first couple of times,  it will only take you a few moments. Once you've seen and understood  what's happening you should be able to adapt these instructions to suit  different circumstances as the need arises.

An alternative approach to preparing material for CD burning using Adobe  Audition is provided through the use of "CueListTool", a small freeware  program available from http://www.stefanbion.de/cueltool/ which prepares a Cue List which Nero and EAC and other packages can use.
It's  simply necessary to insert cues in your mixdown at the points where  each track begins. You don't need to use the 'Merge' and 'Batch'  processes described above - you'll be burning direct from the single  master file. CueListTool will write a Cue Sheet containing the points  you've marked. Then in Nero use 'File > Burn Image" to create the CD.  Or in EAC use 'Tools > Burn CDR... > File >Load Cue Sheet'.
Yet  another method is possible if you have the Nero CD burning program -  proceed in Nero as if burning an audio CD containing one track, using  your entire mixdown (or other) file which contains cues where you want  each track to start. Then, still in Nero, right click on the file and  choose "Properties", then choose "Indexes Limits Split" tab, and click  on "Split at index positions" and follow the subsequent prompts. Nero  will then create tracks based on the location of your cue marks.

Having  prepared (in Audition or CE) a 44.1/16 stereo file with track cue  points at each place you want a track to start, including the beginning  of the first track, and saved it, and closed it, then....
In CueListTool ver 1.7 - using strip of "buttons" on right side -
Click Wav (topmost button) - and select file to burn
Click Wav (next button down with green arrow) - to list cues
Click Cue (7th button down with floppy disk icon) - to save cue sheet
Fill in resulting dialog as required, then click "Save and Burn" at the bottom of the dialog
Fill in resulting "save cue sheet" filename dialog
Fill in resulting "Burn CD" dialog - here the two boxes read...
    "C\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\nero.exe"
    and
    "%s"
    in quotes in both cases.
    Click OK
If  you have Nero installed that will then invoke it - if you know the  command line parameters for calling Nero, which appear somewhere in  Nero's documentation, you can add any other parameters you want in  addition to the "%s" - such as setting the speed. Here, when Nero runs,  you get the chance to set the speed anyway. I don't add extra  parameters.
Sounds complicated when set out fully like that, but  once you've done it the first time, thereafter you can normally just  "click through" the dialogs, as they present themselves with sensible  last-used values, so it actually takes about 5 seconds.

  • Display instantly the length of the text entered in the rich text editor

    Hi everybody,
I'm developing an apex application with apex 4.1.1 and Oracle 11.2.
I have a page in which I have a form that allows to create a new message on the database.
A message has a title, description, text and date.
For the text I use the item "rich editor text". The problem is that item doesn't show the length of characters entered (character counter for the textarea). In the database the corresponding column is varchar2(2000). What I do is a validation after submit that checks if the limit 2000 was exceeded or not.
But what I want to do more is to display instantly the length of the text entered in the editor. I have tried to do that through a dynamic action. But the event "onChange" for the item "rich text editor" didn't work.
Has anyone any idea about that issue?
    Thanks for helping.
    Kind regards,

sorry about that, I missed that tidbit in your OP... well I think there is a good reason why there isn't a count character option -- due to the hidden "html" characters responsible for the "richness" (bold/color, etc) applied to the text would be difficult to count true characters.. if I was bent on doing this, I'd continue using the item you are using, but have a HIDDEN text area that is updated via javascript onkeyup for each keystroke (again, keeping in mind you'd have to filter certain keys) and then that intelligence could be used. I would probably dig through the javascript responsible for the rich text editor (is it still fckeditor??) -- there might already be code in there that isn't clearly visible to you that does this already.. alas, I see now the validity of your challenge.
