Displaying maps using oc4j and mapviewer

This may not be the correct forum for this question, but since it involves displaying a map using mapviewer with oc4j, I thought this might be the place to post this question.
My problem is this:
I would like to display a 'busy, please wait' or change the cursor to an hourglass until my map is completely rendered. I'm using a java server page developed through jdeveloper and using internet explorer. I've tried the cursor_wait() routine, but found that as far as the jsp is concerned it is finished, and even though my map has not been completely displayed, (I have fois) a user looking at the screen thinks it is finished. Even the internet explorer flag, which waves while ie is processing stops, but my fois haven't been displayed on the screen yet. My users complain that the application is not working, whereas, in reality, it just hasn't finished yet.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to work around this problem I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.

Ok, I do exactly as you specify here. In addition I import the needed jars from the import folder of j2mepolish. Also, I put the resources folder from the polish sample (MenuMidlet) in the project, and all marked errors disappears.
Then I try to run it as an Ant build, and get the following error:
BUILD FAILED
D:\Program Files\eclipse31\j2me\sample\build.xml:115: The MIDlet [source.src.de.enough.polish.example.MenuMidlet] could not be found. Check your <midlet>-setting in the file [build.xml] or adjust the [sourceDir] attribute of the <build>-element.The MIDlet should be in D:\Program Files\eclipse31\j2me\sample\source\src\source\src\de\enough\polish\example\MenuMidlet.java
Ok - so it seems that it for some reason gets "source\src" two times. So I go back to the <midlet class and remove the source.src, leaving just de.enough.polish.example.
Then I run as Ant again, and it compiles successfully.
However, when I try to run the MenuMidlet class as a j2me midlet (in eclipse) it starts, and then crash with this error:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: de/enough/polish/util/Locale

So - seemingly - to compile it I need to give it one address, but for the midlet to run it must be compiled with an address that won't let it compile :-)
Well - then I create a J2ME package from the project, and run the deployed/sample.jad file. Then the midlet actually starts, but when I click Launch, the display shows:
New Midlet de.enough.polish.ui.MenuBar Exception: java.lang.classNotFoundException: de/enough/polish/ui/MenuBar
I can't find a reference to MenuBar anywhere in the sample code.

Custom Map using latitude and longitude data points

Hi,
I am new to Apex and I want to lost custom data points using latitude and longitude data points. I
have seen posts referring to the chart example (http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=36648:65:2214483882702::NO:::) ; could someone help me with the following:
1) How to add On Demand Application Process to a map page (step 4 in the demo)
2) What is a hidden item and how to add it to a page (step 6)

I am trying to do the same thing. I have got the get_data function working to create the desired output. However when I replace the xml <data> block with &P65_DATA, it does not work. If I display P65_DATA on the page, it has correct output. If I cut and paste the output into custom XML, it works fine. Anyone have come across this issue..any ideas how to fix it?

I am unable to see the maps that I try view on screen. The page comes up and says:" Sorry, we have no imagery here". The terrain details are not visible, names however show up.

Sounds like the work of Norton. Don't ever use the word
'banner' in any part of your images. Rename the image and alt text
and see if that works.

OC4J and Mapviewer Licensing

What minimum licensing would we need to run mapviewer under a standalone oc4J?
Does standalone oc4j require a seperate license? (We are using Database SE one)?
Is it possible to run mapviewer under jboss?
If so would it need a license?

Is there a best practices way of using Geocoding functions w/ Mapviewer? I purchased the Apress Spatial book and was planning on following the code examples but remembered seeing a Geocoder.ear setup awhile back and was wondering if it is still around and if it is the recommended approach.

When I use Firefox to access jobs on local hospital website not all jobs displayed. Used IE and accessed all posted jobs. Could access all posted jobs with Firefox before hospital changed format. Could this be setting on my computer/Firefox?

I've been using Firefox for more than a year and prefer it to Internet Explorer. I'm unaware of any websites or information on a website that I've been unable to access with Firefox before this.
My question contains all the details. I don't know anything about the hospital's systems or website except that they used to have jobs listed under categories and now have a grid format. There are many more jobs posted and accessible through IE than Firefox.

Thanks for suggestion. I cleared everything, closed Firefox, rebooted and checked the website again with Firefox and IE. Results same as before. (I clear history, cache, etc. pretty regularly.) From what I can see the website looks the same with both browsers, except for difference in job postings. When I called hospital and asked about it, the HR person I spoke with seemed surprised that I had a problem. Local computer columnist is a big advocate for Firefox, but I've no idea how many people in local area use it, i.e. would see the problem and call to ask about it. For whatever it's worth, the program the hospital uses is from SPECTRUM Human Resource Systems Corporation.

Display map in mapclient.jsp

i really have done create base map and theme using map builder. i can display map using sample map request. but when i want to dispaly map using mapclient.jsp there is no map, only background and title were display. how i can dispaly map using mapclient.jsp?

Verify the parameters that you entered on mapclient.jsp page.
1) Data source name must exists on MapViewer service
2) Base map name must exist on data source
3) Center and size should define an area that intersects with base map data.
If you think the parameters that you entered are right, then take a look on MapViewer's log for additional messages.

JMS1.1 Domain Unification sample using OC4J 10g

I am trying to run the JMS1.1 Domain Unification sample using OC4J 10g
I am not sure why I get the Invalid provider URL exception at run time when trying to run AsyncClient using listenTopic in Ant. The code prints out the provider URL accurately from my ConnectionParam.java file but exception happens after that. I am running the J2EE container using OC4J and can access http://localhost:8888/adminoc4j as an admin user.

OC4J and BC4J Runtime installation for Solaris (Unix)!

We have successfully installed, configured and deployed JSP/BC4J apps using OC4J and BC4J on Windows NT/2000. However, our production environment is Solaris.
We have installed OC4J on Solaris, with some difficulties. How/where is the installation process for the BC4J Runtime Installation? The download (bc4j-ojsp.zip) for this utility is Windows only.
Is there a method or process to install BC4J Runtime on Unix? If not, we are stuck.
We cannot use JServ (servlet limitations) and refuse to use OSE (to many issues).
Any guidance or assistance would be greatly appreciated...

Stephan,
I have located multiple "connections" files and will remove all but the default located in the OC4J classes directory. We have been developing with JDeveloper and it often created multiple connections files that appear when you "jar" project components.
We also installed JDK1.2.2_008 and are using this. However, when I use the classpath method of starting OC4J, I receive numerous errors. Using the jar method, everything works, with the exception of BC4J apps. I'll have to look into the errors more.
Thanks for the response. At least I know one other person (organization) is using this successfully. I hope to join the "success" crowd tomorrow!
