Displaying PDF & PowerPoint files

How can I display PDF files on a TV that only has composite? I already bought the cables for connecting my iPhone 4s to my TV but I have not yet found a way to display PowerPoint, PDF, or other files on the TV screen.  Photos and videos work fine though.

Hello,
Reports does support BLOB and CLOB datatypes. This means that you can fetch and display data stored in these datatypes in the database. But note that the Reports display formatting engine cannot 'understand' data in PDF/Word/Excel formats. Hence you will not be able to display these files in Reports previewer. Instead, you can generate your report to a text file containing the BLOB/CLOB column's data, and then open it in the appropriate viewer.
Thanks,
The Oracle Reports Team.

  • Oracle reports to display PDF/Excel files stored in the Database

    can we use Oracle reports to view/display PDF/Excel files stored in the Database? Thanks Lalitha

    A document stored in the database can be easily retrieved in or via the browser using mod_plsql. Simplified:
    select content, mime_type
    into v_blob, v_mime_type
    from ...
    owa_util.mime_header(nvl(v_mimetype,'application/octet'),false);
    htp.p('Content-length: ' || dbms_lob.getlength(v_blob));
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    wpg_docload.download_file(v_blob);So, the link in your report should point to this database procedure.

  • Best ways to view/display PDF/Excel files stored in the Database

    What are best ways to display/view PDF/Excel files stored in the Database? thanks L

    Thanks tom, sorry let me explain. Currently we have oracle forms screen, using webutil to store/view files into DB. client won't like the interface, they want us to make it more friendly, drag and drop if possible, load multiple files, as possible.. So I am exploring different ways to improve may be java (or jdev/any any other), different screen designs, different features for fileupload/download/view options.

  • Displaying pdf from file system in OA framework pages

    Hi,
    If anyone could help me with this I would be very grateful.
    We have a number of pdfs containing sensitive information, held on our Unix file system in directories not publicly available.
    I want to create an OA framework page which takes the name of a pdf as a parameter and displays the content of that pdf on the user's browser. I cannot simply do a redirect because the pdfs are not publicly available.
    I've found some sample java code that allows you to set InputStream and OutputStream and read the content of the file. However, I cannot see how to redirect the output stream to the browser. Of course, this may be entirely the wrong approach.
    Can anyone suggest anything or point me to some documentation that might help?
    Many thanks,
    Mike Thorn.

    Hi Shiv,
    Thanks for responding. I'm not sure whether I've explained my problem properly, so I've included a code snipet below.
    I've got my head around how to stream the contents of a file to an output string but cannot see how to bolt this into the controller region for an OA framework page. In the code below, you'll see I have a dofile which reads from my D: drive and streams to the System.out. I'm calling this from the processRequest for the page controller but do not understand how to get the output stream into the OAHTMLWebBean (my inclusion of Google works just fine).
    All this Java is rather new to me I'm afraid.
    public static void dofile()
    try{
    OutputStream outStream = System.out;
    String fileName= (String)"index.htm";
    String filePath = "D:\\Jdeveloper\\jdevdoc\\";
    File f = new File(filePath, fileName);
    String fileType = fileName.substring(fileName.indexOf(".")+1,fileName.length());
    byte[] buf = new byte[8192];
    FileInputStream inStream = new FileInputStream(f);
    int sizeRead = 0;
    while ((sizeRead = inStream.read(buf, 0, buf.length)) > 0) {
    outStream.write(buf, 0, sizeRead);
    inStream.close();
    outStream.close();
         catch (Exception e) {
              System.err.println(e);
              System.err.println("dofile error");
    public void processRequest(OAPageContext pageContext, OAWebBean webBean)
    super.processRequest(pageContext, webBean);
    dofile(); //but how do I egt the output to the OAHTMLWebBean?
    // the following works fine to include Google
    OAHTMLWebBean outRegion = (OAHTMLWebBean)createWebBean(pageContext, HTML_WEB_BEAN, null, "IFRAME");
    outRegion.setHTMLAttributeValue("src","http://www.google.co.uk");
    outRegion.setHTMLAttributeValue("width", "100%");
    outRegion.setHTMLAttributeValue("height", "60%");
    outRegion.setHTMLAttributeValue("title","My title");
    outRegion.setHTMLAttributeValue("name", "My name");
    pageContext.getPageLayoutBean().addIndexedChild(outRegion);
    Many thanks again for any help you can offer this Java virgin,

  • How to open and display a powerpoint file.

    I'm working on an app that I would like to have open and view a powerpoint presentation. How would I go about doing this? Is there already some framework available that'll do it for me? Is there something that'll let me convert it to a pdf?
    thanks for any help

    And there may be, but you won't likely find that here. Do some time searching Google and maybe you'll find code that someone was nice enough to make freely available, although I wouldn't count on it. Were i a programmer and took the time to read those docs and write the code, I'd want to be paid for my time. But there are a lot of programmers who swear by freeware! You may get lucky.

  • Unable to open file PDF - powerpoint

    Cannot download my powerpoint file that I converted from PDF

    Hi,
    I'm sorry that you are having trouble.
    After you use Export from PDF, the file will be displayed in the lower half of the browser window (see screenshot below). Click in the checkbox to the left of the file name and the actions that you can take with that file are displayed (download, delete). Click download.
    Converted files are automatically stored in files.acrobat.com, where they can be organized, renamed, and downloaded. Click the Files tab at the top to switch to files.acrobat.com.
    Hopefully this helps. If not, please include more information regarding what you are experiencing.

  • I need to configure Acrobat to display PDF files in Safari, but I have a lot of troubles to do it.I have OX S yosemite, I unistalled adobe acrobat, I closed safary and I installed the new version of adobe acrobat.

    Dear everyone
    I need to configure Acrobat to display PDF files in Safari, but I have a lot of troubles to do it.
    I read a european commission document explaining that
    http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/data/support/sep_usermanual.pdf
    If Safari does not display pdf forms in the browser window, uninstall all older versions of Adobe Reader and download the most recent one. First close Safari and then install Reader. Launch Safari and you ought to be able to open the pdf files inside the Safari window. If you install Adobe Reader 10.1.x without first closing Safari, Safari will not display the pdf file inside its browser window until it is re-launched. For further help, please see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-safari-plug-acrobat-x.html
    I have OX S yosemite, I unistalled adobe acrobat, I closed safary and I installed the new version of adobe acrobat
    but when I open a web page that I need to allow me to display and modify PDF files it is not working.
    I checked the following web page
    Troubleshoot Safari plug-in | Acrobat X, Reader X
    that is recommending the following:
    The AdobePDFViewer plug-in is used to display PDF files in Safari using Acrobat and Reader.
    This plug-in is installed as part of the Acrobat X or Reader X installation. The location of this plug-in is:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin
    but after the new installation with this folder is completely empty and I am still
    unable to open these pdf.
    Does anybody knows anything else I can do?
    Best regards

    I cannot get Safari to display PDF files, it shows a blank screen with the comment that Safri has blocked PDF, however when you unblock it still does not show the PDF, I have had to rely on Firefox for this, which I find not too good. Any help very much appreciated.

  • How to display Pdf file in iPad site

    Hi
    How to display Pdf file in web page which can able to view in iPad safari?
    Thanks,
    Arun

    You can't really.
    You need to use DHTML in the swf-wrapper HTML file, usually a
    division wrapped iFrame, and load the PDF into the iFrame as an
    overlay to the Flash.

  • How to display pdf file with java code?

    Hi All,
    i have a jsp pagein that page if i click one icon then my backing bean method will call and that method will create pdf document and write some the content in that file and now i want to display that generated pdf document.
    it should look like you have pressed one icon and it displayed pdf file to you to view.
    java code below:
    FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ExternalContext ec = fc.getExternalContext();
    HttpServletResponse resp = (HttpServletResponse) ec.getResponse();
    resp.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "filename=\"" + temppdfFile);
    resp.encodeRedirectURL(temppdfFile.getAbsolutePath());
    resp.setContentType("application/pdf");
    ServletOutputStream out = resp.getOutputStream();
    ServletUtils.returnFile(temppdfFile, out);
    out.flush();
    and above temppdfFile is my generated pdf file.
    when i am executing this code, it was opening dialog box for save and cancel for the file, but the name of the file it was showing me the "jsp file name" with no file extention (in wich jsp file i am calling my backing bean method) and type is "Unknown File type" and from is "local host"
    it was not showing me open option so i am saving that file then that file saved as a pdffile with tha name of my jsp file and there is nothing in that file(i.e. empty file).
    what is the solution for this. there is any wrong in my code.
    Please suggest me.
    Thanks in advance

    This is my action method which will call when ever i press a button in my jsp page.
    This method will create the barcode for the given barcode number and write that barcode image in pdf file
    (i saw that pdf file which i have created through my above method, This PDF file opening when i was opening manually and the data init that is also correct means successfully it writes the mage of that barcode)
    This method taking the jsp file to open because as earlier i said it was trying to open unknown file type document and i saved that file and opended with editplus and that was the jsp file in which file i am calling my action method I mean to say it was not taking the pdf file which i have created above it was taking the jsp file

  • Safari will not display pdf files since installing OS 10.8.2

    Safari will not display pdf files uner Lion 10.8.2

    Back up all data.
    Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
    from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
    From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
    The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
    If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
    If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Display PDF file in the Apex query report using HTML Expression

    Hi Folks,
    I have PDFs stored in BLOB columns along with FILE_ID column in the database.
    I want to display these to the APEX user on the page at runtime.
    I have created a SQL Query report page to display FILE_ID column.
    I am using HTML Expression property of the FILE_ID column to pull the image from the table using PROC_DISPLAY_DOCUMENT procedure.
    I typed folowing code int the HTML Expression text area of the FILE_ID column of the report page :
    <img src="#OWNER#.proc_display_document?p_id=#file_id#"/>
    I am using following Procedure code:

    n_length number;
    s_filename varchar2(400);
