Query Desinger 7.0 - cost centre variables

Hello All,
When in Query Designer 7.0 I am unable to view my uploaded variables under 'Characteristic value Variable'
e.g. I have uploaded the business content variables 0H_CCTRP and 0N_CCTRP (these are cost center authorizations variables), when I select the Cost center characteristic the variables are not displayed in 'Characteristic value Variable' folder.
Does anybody know the reason for this or where the variables can be located?
Thanks,
Nick.

Hi Kristoffer,
the 7.0 syntax to add a variable value to the URL is different to BW 3.5. Here is what you need to add:
&BI_COMMAND_1-BI_COMMAND_TYPE=SET_VARIABLES_STATE&BI_COMMAND_1-VARIABLE_VALUES-VARIABLE_VALUE_1-VARIABLE=<b>z_variable1</b>&BI_COMMAND_1-VARIABLE_VALUES-VARIABLE_VALUE_1-VARIABLE_TYPE=VARIABLE_INPUT_STRING&BI_COMMAND_1-VARIABLE_VALUES-VARIABLE_VALUE_1-VARIABLE_TYPE-VARIABLE_INPUT_STRING=<b>myvalue</b>
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Nils

  • Restrict Query By Cost Centre

I have a number of users who recieve a budget report. The query in the report is restricted by a variable on Cost Centre. There is an authorisation logged against the user in RSECADMIN for cost centre so when the report runs it knows they only have authorisation to view budgets for that specific cost centre.
However I want to design another report that shows overtime spend for all cost centres. If I give the users authority to view overtime spend for all cost centres the budget report restriction fails e.g. they have now got access to all cost centres and see all budgets.
    Is there anyway around this?

In that case it is very simple and yes you can separate both authorizations.
    In RSECADMIN built two authorizations:
    Aut_1:
Cost_center: only the cost centers the user should have
    0TCAACTVT: 03 (display only)
    0TCAIPROV: <The_InfoProvider_the_query_restricted_by_only_some_profit_centers_in_here>
    0TCAKYFNM: * (all key figures)
    0TCAVALID: * (Valid for ever)
    Aut_2:
    Cost_center: * (all cost centers)
    0TCAACTVT: 03 (display only)
    0TCAIPROV: <The_InfoProvider_the_query_restricted_by_all_profit_centers_in_here>
    0TCAKYFNM: * (all key figures)
    0TCAVALID: * (Valid for ever)
Give both authorizations to the user. When the user opens the query built on the InfoProvider that exist in Aut_1, the system will retrieve the Aut_1 authorizations values, therefore, only some Cost Centers.
When the user opens the query built on the InfoProvider that exist in Aut_2, the system will retrieve the Aut_2 authorizations values, therefore, all Cost Centers.
This is because, the systema builds union on 0TCAIPROV characteristic. If they are different, then, different values are granted as you wish.

  • Cost centre and Profit centre in one query - Authorisations not working!

    Hiya,
I have another problem related to Analysis Authorisations.
I have created an AA with Cost Centre and Profit centre access restricted to a certain node of a hierarchy (type 1 - this node and below). For example, the User can only run a query at Cost Centres level of Country Belgium - the query works fine. Now, the user wants to drill down by the relevant Profit centres. According to the log, the system checks for Profit centres like * and says the user is not authorised. All this, despite the fact that all Profit centres belong to country Belgium and user has been given access to see these profit centres.
What do I need to do to enable drilldown by Profit centre? I can't make a "*" access to Profit centre as the user will be able to run other queries at global level, which is not what I can allow.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello,
I don't know if it is relevant, but I had a similar problem when I had two characteristic each with hierarchy restrictions in one authorization object.
I "solved" it by separting each characteristic into its own authorization object.

  • Cost Centre Query

    Hi All,
What are the standard DSO's and Cubes used in Cost Centre reporting.
    0CO_OM_CCA_1
    0CO_OM_CCA_7
    0CO_OM_CCA_8
    0CO_OM_CCA_9
    0CO_OM_CCA_10
    Can we use
    0CO_OM_WBS_1
    0CO_OM_WBS_6
    0CO_OM_WBS_7
    0CO_OM_WBS_8
in place of CCA datasources or are the WBS used at project level reporting only.
    Appreciate any help.
    James

    hi,
there can be scenarios where WBS master data might not be useful to you where ur project has one WBS and multiple CC. and if you want to see the WBSE actual posted to CC.WBSE Master Data doesnt show up these details.
    also,
0CO_OM_WBS_1 gives actual/commitments at summary level and not at detail level.
0CO_OM_WBS_6 gives WBSE:CC relation for Actuals.
0CO_OM_WBS_7 does not give WBSE:CC relation for Commitments
similarly for CCA DS as well
so it  will depends on your business requirements.
You need to decide fields you need DataSources, if required doing necesarry enhancements in DS

  • Resrticting Goods receipt based on cost centre in EBP Version 2.0

    Hi,
I am working with EBP2.0 version & I need to know whether I can restrict the GR with ref. to cost centre in EBP. (ie. Receive any order functionality. We have not defaulted any cost centre & the user will enter the cost centre & GL a/c at the time of creation of shopping cart only.
Is it possible to restrict the Goods Receipt with ref. to cost centre in EBP2.0 version. If so then please let me know how to go about it.
Your immediate response is very much appreciated.
    Regards
    Raghu

    Hi  S.R.P.
There is no control  between GI and GR, you have to make a control using UDF
    for example
1.Add UDF in GR called GI Number
2.and make this field mandatory using SP
3.Ask the user to enter GI number
4.If user enter GI number in GR then choose the item code in GR means, using FMS you can also do automatically load a Warehouse, price,Account code what ever in GI.
5.using sql query report u will get control

  • Field cost centre is a required field for GL account Error

The error that I get during a sales transaction is: Field cost centre is a required field for GL account Error. Where or which transaction in FI do I use to maintain this setting.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Goto Tcode - OKB9. Search for that G/L account number under your co. code. There select the row, you can maintain the cost center directly. Else for Account assignment detail column, keep it as 1(Valuation area mandatory). Then under new entries maintain the valuation area, which is nothing but the plant, and against that maintain the cost center.
    Hope this resolves your query.
Please let me know if you need any additional information.
    Thanks,

  • Counter - Total by Cost Centre

I have a report that shows HR positions by there master cost centre. I created a KF with a replacement path variable e.g. = 1 for Position so that I can count the number of positions. I have display result set for cost centre so that I get a total for the number of psotions. However this only gives me a grand total for all the cost centres in my report. I want a total for each cost centre in my report. Anybody any idea how I might get that?

    Hi Joel,
If you want to go with creation of Counter on Total by Cost Centre  you should have Counter Key Figure in all the cubes.
Then only it will allow you to create the counter on Total by cost centre.
    Hope this may help you.

  • Dimension Design - Cost Centre

    Hi All,
I'm midst of designing a Cost  Centre, dimension which will need to have Entity, Profit Centre ID, Profit Centre Description, Cost Centre Group, Cost Centre, Cost Centre DEesription and Process, I see some of the will be Hiearachy rolling up. Starting from Entity to Profit Centre ID & Description and to Cost Centre Group, Cost Centre and Cost Centre Description and finally to Process
My query, is what is the element should be in Dimension and its memeber and properties ? I guess currency, owner ...
do I need to have a column of Profit Cetre from and to side by side, what about Business Unit, and how does EVDESCRIPTION fits into this scenario ? does it carry Profit Centre Description or Cost Centre Description ?
    Please advise
    Thanks
    Zan

    Hi,
You can maintain Entity, Profit Centre ID, Cost Centre Group, Cost Centre as IDs and all their descriptions in the evdescription. The entity type of dimension must have currency, owner and / or reviewer property. The rest of the properties will depend on the actual requirements.

  • Determination of cost centre during MIRO for tax account

    Hi,
We have the following scenario.  We need to raise an invoice via MIRO where tax is applicable.  As tax is not claimable, the automatically generated tax line is posted to a P&L account.  For this, being a P&L account, cost centre is required.  But as tax line item is always system generated, it takes the cost centre default from OKB9 configuration setting.
Actually, the default from OKB9 is incorrect and there should be a logic to determine the cost centre default. Is there a user exit which can derive the cost centre / BA based on certain logic?  Is there any other way of handling this scenario?
    Thanks.

    HIi Tanmay,
    I have 2 query
1 We need to raise an invoice via MIRO where tax is applicable. As tax is not claimable--- Who told you about this
2 why you want to post  the tax amount to a Cost centre?????????
As i know   there is always a tax  is attached to the invoice which again assigned to the G/L account  , so thease amount  you give to the tax authority and its chargaed my customer/ Vendor

  • Cost Centre Splitting

    Dears
I am not very much conversant with Controlling.
Still I am supposed to do the period opening activities in Controlling.
I need a clarification on the Cost Centre Splitting.
    Cost Centre 300001 is having 3 activity types : MACH001, LAB001, FIN001
In our case, there is a Split structure Z1 and there are 35 assignments to this structure.
When I go into the individual assignment, say, first assignment (defined as 10),
I see that the selection criteria is Cost element group : AB0001 (5 cost elements) & ActivityType : MACH001.
    What does this imply ?
I understand that the total plan cost for the cost element group AB0001 will be allocated to the Activity type MACH001 for this Cost Centre 300001.
This cost will not be available to any other activity type in the same cost centre.
    Is my understanding correct ?

    Hi,
Please look into the following to know the concept of splitting:
Here I am providing the necessity and importance of splitting structure,
Expense Analysis and Splitting in Manufacturing Cost Centers
Introduction In SAP Cost center work as a cost responsibility center, where all the expenses and cost are stored and analyzed for the purpose of management decision making.
The cost could be fixed or variable in nature. The difference between variable and fixed costs can be made in various ways in product costing in CO module.
Fixed costs represent the static costs incurred by the organization, which doesn’t change on the basis on manufacturing activities, which remain constant irrespective of production activities like rent for the premises, salaries of office staff etc.
On the other hand, variable cost varies based on the level of production activities; if production activities increase then variable cost also increased like electricity consumes raw material charges etc.
However all the variable cost doesn’t vary in direct proportion by quantity of goods produced.
In this document will try to define; how the Expenses analysis and splitting of cost done in manufacturing cost centers.
From controlling prospective, fixed cost remain constant regardless of operating activities, but if these factor changes, variable cost will fluctuate.
Basically raw material costs represent variable cost, but in this document main focused will be given to distinguish fixed and variable activity cost.
The segregation between fixed and variable cost is optional and is derived from the configuration and master data configured in cost center accounting and overhead accounting.
    Activity Price:
There are different methods that could be used in cost center accounting to determine the activity price. The simple way is the manually enter “Fixed” and “Variable” Activity cost (KP26).
However there are other methods used in Cost center Planning and Budgeting that automatically calculate the fixed and variable activity price.
Here the focused will be given on Planning and Budgeting activity and automatic calculation of plan activity rate in cost center.
This method aggregate planned costs by cost element and capacity by plan unit to calculate the activity price.
Activity independent costs are segregated among different activities based on Splitting Structure, while activity dependent cost directly used for the purpose of variable activity rate calculation.
    Fixed Activity Cost:
In product costing all those cost, which doesn’t vary based on the activities in manufacturing cost will represent fixed cost.
In a manufacturing cost centers there may be two or more activities performed.
To calculate the activities rate, the fixed costs are distributed to various activities on the basis of Splitting Structure defined for cost center.
    Variable Activity Cost:
Variable activity cost, which directly depend upon the activity type and fluctuate based on increase or decrease in manufacturing activities. In SAP variable activity cost are directly linked to the respective activity.
Activity Prices: Fixed and Variable Split
In Cost Center Accounting dividing the cost between Fixed and Variable requires appropriate split to be made in the cost entered for the activity. The process is described below:
    i.  Variable cost would be planned at activity level and expenses should be maintained at cost element in the manufacturing cost center by assigning activity and cost element combination.
In other word, the expenses should be planned on Activity type at the time of primary cost planning (KP06).
Then the variable activity rates are calculated on Total cost planned at Activity divided by Total number of activity planned at that cost center (i.e. capacity in KP26)
ii. Fixed cost would be planned at independent of activity type. These costs are maintained in KP06 at cost element level on manufacturing cost center.
Then the fixed costs are distributed on various activity types on the basis of Splitting structure defined at OKEW.
In Splitting Structure we define the rules, how the fixed cost will be distributed to Activities. For the purpose of this document, considering split of fixed cost on the basis of Capacity maintained in KP26.

  • Assignment of Activity Types to Cost Centre

    hi,
i am  creating a work centre and for costing purposes i need to give the activity type and the cost centre.
even though i have defined an activity type and in it used an allocation cost element which in term is assigned to a cost centre,in the work centre when i search for the activity type the system shows an error.....No activity types assigned to cost center X, controlling area Y on 07.02.2007 where X and Y are variables ofcourse.
what could be the possible reason?
      thanks and regards
    shekhar

    Hi shekhar,
Check using KL02 or KL03 again, especially the validity dates of the activity type and may be the coster center KS02, KS03 as well.  I hope, that controlling area is fine.
There must be some settings wrong, ...
Please reward, wenn it is useful.

  • Usage of Activity types under Cost Centre.

    Hi
I would like to know the usage of activity types under cost centre.
How to do direct and indirect activity type allocation.  Please explain indetail from scratch to finish with necessary t.codes at the earliest.
Appreciate your cooperation at the earliest.
    regards.

    Hi,
as far as usage of activity types under cost center is concerned it is addressed by ist reply to your query by another SAP Guru.
with respect to Direct activity allocation,
When we know the source cost center and target cost center then we allocate the activities from source cost center to Target cost center (T.Code KB21N)
The cost is picked from the planned price given at KP26.
Withe respect to Indirect activity allocation:
We do not know the Traget Cost center in this case.
First we need to enter the activity consumption in the sender cost center (source cost center).
Then we need to allocate then indirectly to the target cost centers on some allocation basis using distribution cycles
I am sure this will clear your query.
    Please assign points suitably
    Best Regards

  • Removing Controlling Area from Profit/Cost Centre

    Hi,
When I run a report the cost centres, cost elements and profit centres are displaying with the controlling area at the start of the field eg  DTC/P123456, DTC/C78910, I have tried restricting on the controlling area but that does not seem to change the display.
I cant reall edit the transformation either as they are attributes, any idea?
    Thanks

    Thanks
But i dont want to do this through the transformation.
Also when I do display data on the cube the the profit centre shows correctly P123456 and also the cost elements, the controlling area ccomes through on a different field?
So it is at the query designer level that something is happening.

  • Order settlement to G/L instead of Cost Centre.

    Dear All,
    My client has following scenario:
    1. Cost centers are created as sections of the plant.
    2. G/Ls are created with respect to activity (i.e normal consumption, project consumption, turnaround consumption).
In general maintenance order is settled to cost center that is copied from equipment master to order settlement rule. But, in above scenario cost should be settled to combination of "Cost Center + G/L" i.e. if mechanical section creates an order for any of the above said activities, the order should be settled to mechanical cost center and respective G/L account.
"One way around to this issue can be accomplished by settling the order directly to G/L defined in combination with section and activity."
Is this a correct practice if we settle maintenance order directly to G/L and do not use cost centers?
Your expert opinions and any other solution if you can suggest in this regard will be very helpful.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Maintenance Orders are generally settled to cost centres as maintenance activities are nothing but Expenses. Please note that Cost Centers are meant to capture costs through GL accounts which are to be created as a Primary Cost elements in CO and the costs are passed to the cost center through account assignments.
The settlement will require an assignment to a CO object which may be a cost centre, order,WBS etc.  If you are trying to simply assign the settlement receiver as "GL account" in Order, system will ask you for asignment to a CO obeject. Hence it is imperative to use cost centres.
For your scenario, you need to specify the range of cost elements to which settlement is allowed in the "Allocation structure" configuration. Tick on settlement by cost elements.Allocation structure is linked to your settlement profile.
When settlement process runs, your order cost will flow to the respective cost centre(from settlement rule) and the corresponding cost element will be affected. The details of debit and credit can be checked through the CO document which is generated.
Hope this throws some light on your query.
    Regards,
    S.Basu
