Distinguishing between an object and a -1 item array-

this was a problem we came up building flex applications with
httpservices that return standart xml files for data.
assume there is a service called getEmployees.php which
returns an array of employees like
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
<employees xmlns="
http://www.foo.com/employees">
<employee id="123456">
<lastname>Smith</lastname>
<firstname>Edward</firstname>
</employee>
<employee id="127937">
<lastname>Johnson</lastname>
<firstname>Neil</firstname>
</employee>
<employee id="127493">
<lastname>Brown</lastname>
<firstname>Joe</firstname>
</employee>
</employees>
spry environment will automatically implment
employees/employee as an array(i.e. dataset). however if we have
pnly one employee in db, getEmployees.php will return
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
<employees xmlns="
http://www.foo.com/employees">
<employee id="123456">
<lastname>Smith</lastname>
<firstname>Edward</firstname>
</employee>
</employees>
now employees.employee will both look like an array with 1
element and an object.
to solve this problem we inserted a few attributes into the
xml and write a class in flex which makes a reliable conversion
from -our standart of xml- into native as objects.
i wonder if this problem occurs in spry, thatis will spry
convert employees array with a single employee correctly into a
dataset or will we handle this case again???

No, no, yes.
1. No. The code that is stored in an InDesign library file is the same as the code that forms a snippet. And that code is basically a subset of the IDML language. So: You cannot store snippets in a library, but objects on a spread.
2. No. There is nothing linked. Every time you place a snippet, every time you drag an asset out of a library, a new object is generated that does not link back to the "original" one.
Images, that are "linked" to an InDesign file are *not* stored in the asset. They are *not* stored in a snippet. Only their paths that point to the original somewhere on a volume are stored within.
However, if you place an image in InDesign and *embed* the image in the document, that embedded code is stored as well in the asset or the snippet file.
3. Yes. See answer #2. It is unique in a sense: A duplicate of its representation as a file (the snippet *.idms) or as an asset stored in an InDesign library file (*.indl). It cannot be edited "inside" of the library. You can "only" remove and add assets to a library.
However snippets can be edited with a "normal" text editor. Changes can be made in the XML of the snippet.
And if you place that edited snippet file InDesign will interpret the changes (if it can).

    Try to repeat this using a function group and I think you'll undestand because it'll be very hard to do it.
    By only one function group how can u read the data of a certain vehicle?
    Yes you can create in the function group an internal table where u store the data of every car: in this way u use the internal table like it was an instance, but you should consider here the example is very simple. Here we have only the speed as characteristic, but really we can have many complex characteristics.

  • Difference Between Business Object And Class Object

    Hi all,
    Can any one tel me the difference between business object and class Object....
    Thanks...
    ..Ashish

    Hello Ashish
    A business object is a sematic term whereas a class (object) is a technical term.
    Business objects are all important objects within R/3 e.g. sales order, customer, invoice, etc.
    The business objects are defined in the BOR (transaction SWO1). The have so-called "methods" like
    BusinessObject.Create
    BusinessObject.GetDetail
    BusinessObject.Change
    which are implemented (usually) by BAPIs, e.g.:
    Business Object = User
    User.Create => BAPI_USER_CREATE1
    User.GetDetail => BAPI_USER_GET_DETAIL
    CONCLUSION: Business Object >< Class (Object)

  • Differeence between Lock object and enqueue_e_table

    Hi  ,
    what is diff between Lock object and enque_e_table.  Where to use enqueue_e_table and where to use lock object.
    I think with a lock object i can lock more than one table (passing tables  in secondary table). Please correct me.

    A lock object does not really "lock a table" though most of lock objects refer to a database table.
    I explain:
    The principle is that when 2 programs lock at the same time with the same lock object, only the first will succeed.
    If you have a program which does not use the lock, it may update the database table without any problem.
    All programs which update a table have to use the same lock object. Note that users are always able to update this table via SM30 as they don't know the lock object to be used.
    enqueue_xxxx is the name of the generated function module used to lock the xxxx lock object. E_TABLE lock is ONLY used by SM30 if I remember well, so that to prevent one table from being updated via SM30 by 2 persons at the same time. But it is not related at all with programs which would also update this table.

    PA is based on Infotypes 0000-0999. PD is based on Infotypes 1000-1999, chief being Objects Infotype 1000. Objects Infotype is the source of different Object Types such as Person, Position, Org Unit etc. You can check that through transaction OOOT.

  • Distinguish between pure AS3 and Flex project

    Hey,
    how can I distinguish if I am compiling currently an AS3 or a Flex project (mxml vs. pure as)?
    I acutally want to look something up in the "evaluate" method of a GenerativeFirstPassEvaluator before doing the processing. So I need to know it there.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Best,

    MXML is converted to AS3 code as part of the compilation process, then the AS3 is compiled normally like the rest of the project. I don’t think that GFPE is run over anything but an AS3 tree. There
    may be a way to figure out where the original source came from, e.g. .mxml or .as file, but you’d have to interactively debug and scan the data structures — I don’t know off hand.

  • Distinguishing between bookmark page and ordinary jsp

    If I bookmark a page in my project and close the browser , and again on restarting the browser

    All the links should work.
    It is working , but problem arises here
    how to
    distinguish between bookmark page and ordinary jsp

    The problem is not the bookmark.
    Review your JSP, you may find it does not check the session id.
    In this case, everyone can access the page without login.

    Hello Vamshi,
    As per the OP's requirement he has to print 3 copies of the invoice. Which according to my understanding should be printed at the same time ? May be i am wrong in interpreting this.
    You must be knowing you can control the print params of the SmartForms in CONTROL_PARAMETERS where you set the NO_DIALOG & in the OUTPUT_OPTIONS pass the number of copies.
    I think the solution you have proposed the "Original Copy" will be printed only once. (Correct me if i am wrong)
    Every time the user prints the invoice again he will be getting a "Duplicate Copy". If this is what the OP wants the logic is perfect

  • Distinguish between 'Edit Page' and 'Customize'

    I have a portlet/provider that needs to be able to distinguish between 'Edit Page' and 'Customize (Page)' (top level). In both cases you can add portlets, but I want to implement different logic for both instances.
    Thanks,
    Jan
    null

    Okay, so here goes!
    Oracle Portal stores the way a portlet instance is shown/put on a page in the db-column 'wwpob_portlet_instance$.include'.
    In the portlet 'register' call you can find out what the originating action was for this portlet to be placed on the specific page. At this stage only two possible values are interesting:
    3: WWPOB_API_PAGE.PORTLET_CUSTOM; The originating action was [Customize Page - Add Portlet]
    1: WWPOB_API_PAGE.PORTLET_BASE_SHOWN; The originating action was [Edit Page - Add Portlet]
    For now this gives me a hook to process the two originating actions differently.
    Please let me know if you know of any other (less hacked) way to do this.
    Thx,
    Jan.

    Hi rohit,
    If u have multiple receiver system then to determine the reciever u can use context object.....
    Context objects are alternative to XPATH expressions. It is like macros in other programming langugage. If you define this , you can use this object in the receiver determination while doing conditional receiver determination

  • A way to distinguish between 'Parent' keys and 'Referential' keys

    Hi,
    We use referencial keys to specify the FK to a parent table and also link to other tables... I need to write a script that needs to distinguish between a 'Parent' key and and a 'Referential' keys. In the database they both look the same, as they are both foreign keys...
    What's the easiest way to determine whether a FK is a link to a parent table or a link to an unrelated table..
    I hope this question makes sense...
    EDIT:
    Here's an example of the tables, and a better explanation
    CREATE TABLE PARENT_TABLE(
    par_id number PRIMARY key,
    par_name varchar2(200)
    create TABLE RELATED_TABLE(
    rel_id number PRIMARY key,
    rel_name varchar2(200)
    create TABLE CHILD_TABLE(
    kid_id PRIMARY key,
    kid_name varchar2(200),
    par_id,
    rel_id,
    CONSTRAINT kid_par_fk FOREIGN KEY(par_id) REFERENCES PARENT_TABLE(par_id),
    CONSTRAINT kid_rel_fk FOREIGN KEY (rel_id) REFERENCES RELATED_TABLE(rel_id)
    )Ok, as you can see the child table has 2 references but no way to tell which one is the parent table.. In our database we have this hirearchy of parent-child tables (where it's one-to-many relationships) where we consider a table a parent of other.. And also we have a ton of other foreign keys that link to related tables (many-to-many) relationships...
    Now i need a clean way of distinguishing between PARENT and RELATED table.. A more elegegant solution to a keeping a hierarchy table of parent, child tables.. I'm sure others have this kind of structure..
    let me know if there is more clarification needed.. Sorry for the confusion..

  • Relationship between Sales Order and Delivery line item

    Hello,
    Can any body explain me the relationship between Sales Order,Sales Order Line Item, Delivery and Delivery line item,Shipment and Shipment line item,
    Please provide me the documentation if you have with the entity relation ship diagrams.
    Thanks,
    Ganga

    Sales order is the order from your customer and delivery is when you are delivering the item.
    Shipping: In general  when the item is dispached from the warehouse, we can say the item is shipped,where as delivery is item/product reaching to the end customer.
    Hope it helps,
    Kiran
