Distributing calls between two hunt groups

Hi all,
I've got a requirement to distribute calls to a number equally between two hunt groups when not answered and was wondering the best way of doing this?
So for example a receptionist should answer all the intial calls for this area of the business, however, when away from her desk they'd like the calls to then transfer and distribute on a 50:50 basis between two hunt groups.
Thanks in advance,
Ryan

Hi Ryan.
Because line groups on an hunt list are selected as they appear, I can suggest you to configure a third line group with all members of existing line groups.
EG.
New line group could be with following users
LG_ONE Member One
LG_TWO Member One
LG_ONE Member two
LG_TWO Member two
And so on
Than create a new hunt list with associated the new line group.
Create an hunt pilot with associated the newly created hunt list.
That hunt pilot number will be associated with forward busy or no answer rule of receptionist's extension.
HTH
Regards
Carlo

  • Need a way to equally distribute calls between queues for unknown area codes

I have UCCX 8.0 SR2 installed where my script
is utilizing an XML file with 240 area codes.  The script queries the Calling Number against the retrieved data from the returned data of the XPath.  Therefore, in my script I have set Enterprise data for a variable called "Unknown" for calls that have not been defined by area code in that file which is then sent to a single queue.  My customer does not have a the option to perform percent allocation in the cloud nor are they using Callmanager/gateway to perform this type of distribution since the analyzing of the area code is done at the script level.
I need to find a way to distribute these calls between two queues evenly within the scripting.  For example for every odd numbered "Unknown" call the call is sent to the queue B and every even numbered call is sent to queue A.  How can I script for this in UCCX 8?

What we did is to count the number of calls handled by these CSQs. Then do a MOD by 2 on this "count1" (1 to include the current call) to find if it is even or odd and then send to the respective CSQ.

  • Evenly distribute calls between numbers?

    (UCCX 8.5.1)
I'm trying to find a way to evenly distribute calls between multiple offices.
    Example:
Call comes into the main number, checks Holiday/ToD then sends the call to the first number, sends the second call to the second number and repeats until the last number has been given a call.  After the last number, the script sends call the next call to first number and so on.
Is there a way to count the calls and have the count direct the call and then reset after the last number has been reached?

The easiest method is not the most accurate method: random numbers.
Say for example you flipped a coin, it will land on heads 50% of the time and tails 50% of the time.  Kind of.
So if you wanted an even distribution between two numbers, you could randomly flip a virtual coin, and then send the call to the "heads" number or the "tails" number.  And this will get you in the neighborhood of a 50/50 split.
Take that idea to a 3 sided coin...err...let's drop the coin analogy for now, and just say three possible numbers: 1, 2, 3.  Then randomly pick one.  Well, statistically, you would pick each number about 33% of the time.  Almost.
If that doesn't work for you and you need an actual circular routing algorithm, then you will need to cache the last number used, so that you can increment by 1, and move to the next number.
Without using files and or databases to do this, you could use a Global Session Object to store this cached information.  Each and every call in the system can read/write to this Global Session Object, you just have to worry about race conditions, but honestly, since UCCX is not multithreaded, the chances of that happening are very slim, and the worst that can happen is you skip a number once out of every million calls.  Ok, I made those numbers up, but I think my point is still valid.
Search for some of my posts on working with Sessions, then Global Sessions, and see if you can get something put together to get you started.
If you want to go the file or database route I can help there too.
Let me know how you want to proceed.

  • Call transfer through Hunt group

    Hi,
we have a call manager version 8.6 where we have mutiple huntgroups configured. Following is the call flow
PSTN callers call a DID number from outside which after the translation on the gateway, hits a hunt pilot number on call manager and eventually the call rings on all the line members of the line group. One any of the line group member picks up the call and tries to transfer the call to any internal or external number, we get the following error message on phone screen and transfer does not work
    " External transfer Restricted"
Now this happens even if we dial the hunt pilot number internally from an iphone and then if one of the members tries to transfer to an internal extension or external number, we get the error message
    More Information:
There are many other hunt groups on the same call manager server and tries to transfer the call same way as the non working one and it works for them
So i checked the difference. All the members of all the hunt groups are device profile logged into physical phone. The only difference was that working hunt group members are logged into 6921 phone where as non working users are logged into 7942 phones (sip firmare) and the profile are created for 9971 although we dont have any physical 9971 phone
So it seems that call transfer through hunt group does not work only if the members are logged into 7942 (sip) phones and works when they are logged into 6921 with 9971 Device profile
I hope its clear. Please let me know if its a known issue or limitation with 7942 phone. Any help will be appreciated

Try changing the Block Offnet to Offnet Transfer CallManager Service Parameter to False and test again.  If it then works, we'll probably need CallManager traces to see why both numbers are getting marked as offnet.

  • Call Manager Express Hunt Group roll over doesn't work correctly

Hello,I have a wierd issue occuring on the CME portion of a client's UC520. Currently, I have a hunt group set up that has 1 user and then the auto attendant. Basically, I want to give a user a chance to answer the main line, and if she doesn't, it then roll's to the main auto attendant. This is working as long as I keep the time out on the hunt group under 12 seconds. The issue is that is about 2.5 rings. She'd like a little more time to be able to pick it up. When I put the time out above 12 seconds (say 16) and dial from an external number, it rings her phone correctly, then you can hear it attempt to transfer, but it transfers it back to her phone instead of rolling over to the auto attendant. You can even see on her phone that the transfer occurs and it transfers to herself. For an instance, it shows 2 calls with the same caller ID. Change the time out back under to 12 or under, and everything works great. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Generally not. Some service providers do offer that service though where you can setup X number of contacts and the calls between those numbers do not count as air time as long as they are local.

  • Can I interchange service/process calling between two or more composites?

    Hello everyone:
I'm working with Oracle SOA Suite 11.1.1.5, specifically Oracle BPM. I'm trying to conform a BPM Application as modular as possible. So I plan to have several projects into my application, each one dedicated to a business section. The problem starts when I got an exposed service that should be common for all the process I model and implement in the application, independently the project they belong. I know that for each project is created a composite which work as an independent module and when I include that service as an "Exposed Service" in the composite of one of the project, certainly is just available for that one. So I need to know if I can relate one project composite with another inside the same BPM application in order to that service could be available for all the composites. If that variant of solution it doesn't have any sense I'm all ears for any suggestions for the application design.
    Regards,
    isabelbernely
PS: There is any way to model a "father composite" which group and relate all the others?? Sorry by my English... I absolutely did my best.

    Dear Sprengel,
Followed your advice. Works wonders! Thanks a million

  • CallerID not correct when calling a Hunt Group #

Not sure what happened, but when users called the 4357(Hunt Group) the caller id would show "Helpdesk and also the callers name and ext" on the caller ID of the users in the 4357 (Hunt Group List).
Now when users call the 4357 the caller id on the (Hunt Group) end just shows the "callers name and ext".
We like when it would show Helpdesk along with the user info because we know the person is actually calling the Helpdesk and not calling directly. For example, my boss knows to only pick up calls that come into the helpdesk when he is the only one here, but now he is picking them all up because it looks as though they are calling him directly.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Aaron,
I have made the changes you told o make and its working now.
    Thanks.

  • Temporal error in IPPhones 6921 with Hunt Group

    Hi,
I have registered several IPPhones 6921 in cucm via wan, and trying to make a pickup Group, when I place a call, runs the hunt group, but when i try to pick up the call with Pickup Group softkey in the ipphones shows the message "temporal error" and fails.
I think this could be a bandwith issue, because end customer has a ADSL with only 200 Kb to upload between the two sites, although I have configurated region and Device Pool, still fails.
    Any idea?
    Regards!

    Hi,
I have registered the ipphones in a cucm via WAN, i think that could be a bandwith issue because only happen when they are connected in the cucm, when I registered them locally in my CME all runs properly, so only have this weird behavior when are connected to CUCM via WAN.
    Thanks!

  • Finesse and broadcast hunt groups

    Hi,
We have Cisco CCE with Finesse agent desktop. One of our ICM routing scripts is configured to send the call to a telephony hunt group label if no agents are available in Ready state.
The hunt group is a bradcast hunt group and all agent phones receive alert when a call to the hunt group label is placed. However when the call is ringing in Finesse, the caller ID actually lists all members of the hunt group. I can easily see that in the "Participants" XML tags on the Finesse server where multiple participants are listed.
Another problem is that when I answer the call from one Finesse agent desktop, all the other Finesse desktops show the same call as active on their screens with the option to End the call.
I know it is not a standard setup but we have a requirement to fall-back to telephony hunt groups if all agents are busy but an emergency call comes through.
Any suggestions how to fix this behavior?
    Thanks!

I just checked this behaviour in My lab and it just works fine, you might be hitting some bug.
also what instead of broadcast, you use some other hunting mechanism. like longest idle or circular?
    regards

  • Can u proxy between two LOCAL zones on a Gatekeeper?

Is it possible to proxy a call between two local zones on the same gatekeeper?
    Thanks for any replies.

I also tried this last year to overcome issues with Access Control Lists preventing school sites from directly communicating with each other, and unfortunately the answer is no! The proxy will only work with calls to remote zones.
However from version 12.3 (4)T of the MCM gatekeeper IOS, there is also a feature included called IP to IP gateway, which will do what you want, and will actually work better than the proxy as it is codec transparent (the proxy will re-encode your VC to H.261 and G.711).

  • Hunt Groups and Voicemail

Was not sure if this was the right group to post these questions. I believe that these will be super easy for this group, and I want to double check my thinking against you guys. So, here they are.
If we elect to use a BROADCAST type of hunt group in some of our departments (all phones in the hunt group ring simultaneously when a call is directed to the group) and then direct that call to a DEPARTMENTAL VOICE MAIL BOX in a BNA condition:
    1. Can the call ring with a unique ring that those in the hunt group can identify as different from a call that is directed specifically to their personal extension?
    2. If the call to the hunt group ends up in the departmental HUNT GROUP VOICE MAIL BOX, will all phones in the hunt group receive notification that a message exists in the GROUP voice mail box?
    3. If yes to 2 above, when any one individual in the group dials in to the group box and listens to the message, are all message waiting indicators subsequently turned off and does the person who responded to the message then become the owner of the message in his personal mail box?
Additional questions not related to hunt groups:
    4. Do internal station to station calls ring with a special tone that differentiates them from external inbound calls?

    Brian,
    1. There is not a distintive ring option in CM. You could create a 2nd line on your user's phones and add those lines to the hunt. From there the user can select a different ring for the line (this is a local phone option for ring).
    2. Setup alternate MWI on the group vmail box. Alternate I believe has a limit of 9. If you have more users than that then create a DN on each of their phones with the same # of the voicemail box. If that number is the original vmail pilot that is a CTI or other device then you wont be able to do that but you could create another DN and use a translation and the Multiple Tenant MWI option in CM service. Reply back if you need more detail.
    3. MWI is turned off. The message stays in the group mailbox, there is no forwarding unless the user manually forwards it.
    4. Not by default and I don't believe you have that option but not totally sure.

  • Hunt Group Queues

We are evaluating moving from an Avaya 8710 based enterprise PBX to a Cisco PBX. A sticking point we have come accross is how to do basic phone features supported by the Avaya system. A major one is the ability to queue calls in a hunt group. We have sites that have up to 3 or 4 hunt groups and if a call comes in and all members in the hunt group are not available then the call goes to Music on hold until the call can be picked up by the next available in the hunt group.
Is this really a limitation in Call Manager 5.x, 6.x or CME 4.3?

To answer your question about IPCC express, I know it used to be free with CallManager 4.x, not sure with 5.x and came with 5 licenses. But with IPCCx, you can do just about anything you want when it comes to queing, onhold, music, transfers, etc.
But from looking at the doc I sent you:
    Understanding Call Queuing
You can configure a pilot point to support call queuing, so when a call comes to pilot point and all hunt groups members are busy, Cisco CallManager Attendant Console sends calls to a queue. While in the queue, the callers receive music on hold if you have chosen an audio source from the Network Hold Audio Source and the User Hold MOH Audio Source drop-down list boxes in the Device Pool window or the Pilot Point Configuration window. The attendants cannot view the queued calls. When a hunt group member becomes available, Cisco CallManager Attendant Console redirects the call to that hunt group member.
You enable queuing for a pilot point by checking the Queuing Enabled check box on the Pilot Point Configuration window. You must also enter a value in the Queue Size field and the Hold Time (in Seconds) field. The queue size specifies the number of calls that are allowed in the queue. If the queue is full, Cisco CallManager Attendant Console routes calls to the "always route" hunt group member that is specified on the Hunt Group Configuration window. If you do not specify an always route member, Cisco CallManager Attendant Console drops the call when the queue size limit is reached. The hold time specifies the maximum time (in seconds) that Cisco CallManager Attendant Console keeps a call in the queue. If the call is in the queue for longer than the "HoldTime," the call gets redirected to "AlwaysRoute" member. If the "AlwaysRoute" member is not configured, no action occurs.
This is saying that the CCM Attendant Console will take care of what you need. It's basically a big queing machine. You dont have to have a live person answer to start the que from what it looks like, just point the calls to the pilot number and let the server take control of the ques.
You can do this one ccm cluster, or hub and spoke in your case. Just remember, that if you are queing calls, you are tying up WAN bandwidth the more you que. But it may work out ok, depending on how much bandwidth you have.
You can get MOH streams off your local router at the remote site, so you are not streaming MOH over the WAN, so that should take care of itself.
Unity can act as a poor man's que. Basically you can have ccm hunt the groups, no one answer, go to Unity voicemail, play a message, transfer back to the hunt group, hunt the group, then possibly back to Unity to play a message, then take a message. (just using a different mailbox and a different pilot number)
Sometimes you have to get creative with these products to make them do what you want them to do. Out of the box, it's not always the exact feature you need, but you have to tweak it.
Most companies that use hunt groups, understand that they are basica in CCM until you port it to IPCC Express. Unity does do menu trees very well, multilevel voicemail, multiply extesnsions to one account, etc.
My best advice for you, get together with your local Cisco SE to go over the features you require and see how it can be done.
    cheers!

  • Hunt group question

We have a customer who is currently set-up in the following manner: All external calls ring a receptionist. If she is busy or not available, the call hunts to another user and so on. There are currently five (5) users set-up like this. These users all have a button on their existing phones labeled “Available”. When this button is inactive (not pushed), they are in the incoming calls hunt group. When this button is active (pushed), the user is no longer available to receive calls from this hunt group. They can still make and receive calls to their internal extensions.
Short of installing IPCC, how can I mimic this functionality?
It’s easy enough to set-up a hunt group, but I don’t know of a way to take the extensions out of availability for the hunt group when the users don’t want to take these calls but still want to receive internal calls made to their extensions.
Thanks in advance for your assistance!
    Chris

    Chris,
You can accomplish this with Attendant Console. The users would have a piece of software on their PC that controls their availability. Please see the following link for details.
