Distributing LLB and shared libraries - making previous versions

I'm fairly new to labview, so I hope these questions aren't too simple.
I have a product that I have designed a set of labview VIs and custom controls for and need to distribute them to customers (CD included with product). I would like only the 5 or 6 VIs that user's need to buld VI applications with our product to appear in the menu, and the other 10 to 15 VIs be semi-hidden. I would like only the main VI's to appear in the user library function pallette, but would like to have the other VIs accessable a customer wants to custamize it. I think a LLB would be the way to distribute the VIs, but I haven' t found a way to have the LLB only put the desired VIs in the function pallete. My management has also asked for a custion button in the function pallete like I get when I install NI modbus. How is this done. Should we deliver a shared library or LLB? Is there a way to make a setup to install a shared library. Any ideas?
Lastly I need to save my VI's for previous labview versions. I only have 8.2 on my machine. I seem to only be able to save back to 8.0, but when I create the LLB it converts the VIs and LLB back to 8.2. Do I need the previous labview versions installed to make a version of the LLB for an older version. We want to go back to at least version 7 for customers that haven't upgraded.

One way to create a LabVIEW installer is using OpenG package builder.
This is basically an advanced copy function. (to install you need VIPM)
You should install the VIs in vi.lib\addons\%toolkit%
Start each llb with an underscore '_' so LabVIEW won't index the file.
Also create an mnu file that shows the VI you want to have 'public'
You can't backsave to 7.0 in one step. You should have (legal) installs of all versions back to 7.0.
Not only for the backsave but also for some debugging, a lot of functionality you use is probably not accessible in older versions.

We are using PRO C to generate the client C code.
We can compile both dynamic and static versions of our Oracle client.
Our question is:
is it possible to compile a dynamically linked Oracle client in say version 10.1.0.2 and actually run the application against say version 8.1.7.0 environment ?
That is, can an Oracle client dynamically link to the Oracle shared libraries if the versions are different ?
If it is possible, then how to modify the makefile
to enable Oracle client to reference different versions
of shared libraries ?

The title implies "importing photos & videos from previous versions" and only deals with "Organizer". It does not mention if regular "JPG" or other formats need to change. It does not discuss if images have been moved from one location to another folder or directory. It does not discuss any issues of previous versions or backward compatability of formats.

I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?

I have had terribble experience with Firefox 4.0.1 - it hangs and crashes all the time. Is there a way a can uninstall it and go back to previous version?

A lot of times when it crashes it gives an error when should send out the crash report - says it can't be sent, but this is the crash ID from 3 days ago - hope it will help. I also have the problem with the FlashGet extension. In previous version of Firefox it used to easily pick up the download, now it doesn't and I have to manually enter the link into FlashGet itself. I was always so happy with Firefox. Other browsers like Safari or Chrome just didn't do it for me, but now it's just impossible to work like that.

That message appears because your phone was hacked to unlock it in order to use it with the carrier you're now using. Updating software or restoring a hacked iPhone will re-lock it to the carrier it was originally locked to. You have two choices: re-hack it, or get it officially unlocked(only the carrier it is locked to can authorize such).

HT1904 parental controls and shared libraries

We're slowly migrating towards having all our music and movies in iTunes.
One item that's crutial to this migration is proper parental controls, especially with shared libraries. They seem to work well on the kids iTouch devices and hide the content that's higher than their allowed rating level.
However, on my daughter's computer (Vista SP2 with iTunes 11.0.2), the shared libraries with content higher than her allowed rating are visible and can be started, even when the parental controls are enabled.
What am I doing wrong?

It seems that the parental controls only apply to iTunes store, not the iTunes library?
Correct; parental controls do indeed only apply to iTunes Store purchases.
The only reasonable workaround I can think of that the kids can't easily get around to have separate iTunes libraries, one for the adults in the house and one from the kids.

Pmap and shared libraries

I'm trying to subtract the "shared" mappings from the output that pmap
produces and show memory usage per process and a separate shared
memory usage for the system.
Pmap shows shared library mappings like this ...

It looks like all processes that have access to libc.so have
the same mapping. It was my understanding that the Shared and Private allocations (at least in the read/exec mapping) were a fixed
characteristic of the particular shared library.
Where is the 40 Kbytes that are not currently used? Virtual, swapped
out?, but would it be Shared or Private?

No, not all processes mapping a shared library have the same
shared/private .text section allocations.
The shared libraries are tuned for maximum sharing, that is they
are compiled as position independant code so most of the .text
section (program code) can be mapped without changes into each
process, at whatever virtual address is appropriate for each
process. All the code that needs to be adapted for a certain
virtual address is concentrated at one place in the .text section
(procedure linkage table, global offset table, ...). This part
of the shared library cannot be shared between processes and is
typically what you see as the "private" part of the .text section
in the pmap -x output. The non sharable .text section part is
just the procedure linkage table, global offset table, ... and
thus is ~ the same size for each process.
By using mprotect on the .text section or by setting breakpoints
into the .text section (to name two exceptions) you are able to
make changes to more parts of the shared .text sections, so that
you get more 'private' pages in a processes' address space. Here's
an example with breakpoints:

libc.so with several breakpoints (=changes, private copies) in the
.text section has more private memory allocated:

The 40Kbytes difference you've observed between the .text sections'
size and the resident size are VM pages not loaded in main memory.
If these VM pages have not been changed, then they can be paged in
from the shared lib's file, else there have been changes to these
pages and they resides on the swap space.

Integrity of my music in itunes playback stutters & skips and has in all previous versions

curently running itunes 10.6.1.7 on desktop. But in all previous versions I had the same problem, in about half of my library of music at the beginning of songs it stutters and skips, is as best I can explain what it is. but when I play the same songs in another player such as winamp I don't get this problem, I just tried to record the situation ( problem) and upload it to youtube and post the link here, but it's not doing it at the moment. weird.. well when it does i'm going to record it and post a link to it on youtube so that'll be the best way for readers of this thread to hear what I mean, but maybe Apple already knows theirs an issue with that.

Are all your songs etc. still in the usual folder(s) on your computer? Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when opening iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista). Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

Clear process to unisntall Folio Producer Tools and go back to previous version

Does anybody know where we can find a clear process/tutorial to uninstall the last version (v19) of the Folio Producer tools AND go back to the previous version please ?

Neil is right that Add/Remove Programs works to uninstall the most recent versions of the Folio Producer tools. If you have a much older version (such as v12 or v13), you need to uninstall InDesign CS5.5 to remove the Folio Producer tools.

Okay, I found the prior version of DesktopManager for Mac in one of my old backups from March of this year. The new 1.0.3 dmg has an uninstaller next to the installer. I am going to remove 1.0.3. from all of my computers, and install the prior version, and set the preferences for do NOT (NEVER!!!) upgrade / update!

So -- did it work? I've heard people have gone back to the previous version and mysteriously, the syncing problems followed along, even though they weren't there before v. 1.0.3.
BTW, where do you find the uninstall piece on the application? I looked for it once and didn't find it where I thought it would be.

Downloads to iPhone gone after sync with iTunes 9 and shared libraries

I have songs that I downloaded directly to my iPhone 3g-s. After the first time I synched the iPhone to my laptop after installing iTunes 9 and sharing songs with my desktop, songs have disappeared from my iPhone. When I search the song, the title is there but when I click the song, it says to purchase the song from iTunes. The songs are on neither of the 2 computers sharing songs. However, only some of the songs that I had downloaded directly to the iPhone from iTunes have disappeared.

I read another post here and the solution is simple: goto file and select 'Transfer Purchases from iPod". It works perfectly!

Silent install of 10.1.0 (MUI) Reader and patches leaves teh previous Version in Add remove prog

having major issues with a silent install to 3300 users.
I Have a vb script that runs in SCCM to install reader 10.1.0 (MUI) and the increnetal patches for 10.1.1 and 10.1.2 both MUI. I have created a transform to not use a desktop icon, turn on protect mode and supress the eula. 3 problems.
1. The script searches for old versions and completly install the mui version over all with the following command line:

Problems on about 100 computers so far:
1. If the system had 10.1.1 and not the 10.1.1 MUI and 10.1.2 MUI stay in Add Remove Programs
2. Systems that get the full uninstall and reinstall even if adobe is closed and browser is closed and user can not read files from the web or email after the complete install to 10.1.2 mui. Adobe works locally.
3. Some systems appear to upgrade fine.
HELP PLEASE!!!!

With Administrative Installation Points I've always found it best to remove the old version first with a script using [msiexec.exe /x {APPLICATION_GUID} ] before installing the new AIP. You should read the documentation about 10.x AIP though.
