In the next logical step within our environment a uninstallation of the SAP GUI gets started:

Every first installation of SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 is affected. This is a cross-platform issue (Windows 7 and Windows 8.1). If there was our older package version (SAP GUI 7.30 PL4) installed, the installation of SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 gets done without problems.
Every new client with the SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 assigned or the re-installation of it, and every first installation of the package on a client without SAP GUI leads to the mentioned issue - package gets installed with the mentioned error, afterwards the uninstallation gets started by our environment and finally the installation gets done with the second try. This is not a practicable method for our support staff.
Are there any hints how to resolve this issue. (A upgrade to the newest patch level of SAP GUI is not a practicable solution)

Hello Christian,
For older releases of the SAP GUI client a good approach is to create package for uninstalling old SAP GUI. Depending on the state of the old SAP GUI's you're upgrading those may not be "clean" enough to warrant upgrading in place.
The older GUI's have component's no longer provided with the newer releases so most recommendations are to uninstall completely an do a fresh installation.
I credit Matt Fraser for this information and suggest reading his documentation. The last 4 articles are germane to you're situation. I hope this helps you.

I have (stupid perhaps) question.
Is this scenario possible:
SNC connection from SAP GUI to SAP Router, and non-SNC connection from SAP Router to SAP System.
I know how to set up scenario like this:
SAP System --- (non-SNC conn) --- saprouter1 --- (SNC conn) --- saprouter2 --- (non-SNC conn) --- SAP GUI.

To be sure myself and Marek understand, can you confirm the different scenarios supported:
Scenario 1:
SAP GUI --- (non SNC conn) --- saprouter1 --- (SNC conn) --- saprouter2 --- (non-SNC conn) --- SAP System
With this scenario, it would be possible for a user to logon using SAP GUI onto the SAP System, but without SAP GUI SNC.
Scenario 2:
SAP GUI --- (SNC conn) --- saprouter1 --- (non SNC conn) --- saprouter2 --- (SNC conn) --- SAP System
With this scenario it would be possible to logon to the SAP System using SAP GUI, and using SNC authentication.
Also, with this scenario the SAP GUI software and SAP System software would consider this to be similar to:
SAP GUI -- (SNC conn) -- SAP System
Scenario 3:
This is the scenario mentioned by Marek in his initial question:
SAP GUI -- (SNC conn) -- saprouter1 -- (non SNC conn) -- SAP System
With this scenario it will not be possible to logon to SAP System using SNC, and only possible if the SAP GUI is configured to not use SNC. In other words the SNC connection between SAP GUI and saprouter1 is available, but cannot be used.

According to SAP help you need to implement Organizational management at least in order to be using Personnel Cost Planning.

After lunching NSP-->Start Application Server, all is ok.

Load a flat file into BW-BPS using SAP GUI

We are using BW BPS 3.5 version, i implemented how to guide " How to load a flat file into BW-BPS using SAP GUI" successfully without any errors.
I inlcuded three infoobjects in the text file   costelemt, Posting period and amount. the same three infoobjects i inlcuded the file structure in the global data as specified in the how to document
The flat file format is like this

Is it possible to load a flat file like this
They wants load a single row instead of 13 rows for each costelement

In the infocube we have got only one Info object 0FISCPER3(Posting period) and one 0AMOUNT(Amount)
do we need 13 Infobjects for each posting period and amount.
Is there any possiblity we can implement any user exit which we use in BEX Quer's

Hi,
There are 2 ways to do this.
One is to change the structure of the cube to have 12 key figures for the 12 posting periods.
Another way is to write an ABAP Function Module to fetch the values from each record based on the posting period and store it in the cube for the corresponding characteristic. This way, you dont have to change the structure of the cube.
If this particular cube is not used anywhere else, I would suggest to change the structure itself.

SSF: verification of third-party signed documents on SAP GUI/AS

Hello everybody,
I try to test SSF infrastrucure in SAP R/3 using SAPCRYPTOLIB, however, signing and verification of documents works fine when I use standard system PSE (SAPSYS.pse) and standard server certificate (CN=MEI) only.
I need to realize the scenario when I sign a document in web browser using an Active-X component available on the market (I use my personal certificate of type RSA SHA-1 from web browser). Then I want to verify the signature of signed document on WAS. I use the standard function SSF_KRN_VERIFY, but I always obtain SSF_API_DECODE_FAILED. The same thing happens when I try to verify the signature on SAP GUI. I made a RSA PSE into which I placed my personal certificate for verification.
I know it relates to problem with conversion to ANS.1 format, however, I do not know how to fix it. May be, there will be another problem with private key length used for signing which is 1024 bits. I don't know if SSF supports it. Do you have any suggestions ?

Automatic closing of SAP GUI generated by RRI in WAD

BW experts,
I am having a showstopper scenario in our project. Basically i have a webbased report produced by WAD 7.0 and it is working correctly. I have an RRI connected to it. The RRI receiver is an ABAP program which we execute based from the item in WAD (i.e document number).
However, it always open 2 browsers. 1 is for the SAP Gui session generated by RRI and 2nd browser is open due to the code we have in our abap which calls a browser (CALL_BROWSER).
My question now is, is there a way to put an IF-THEN condition somewhere, perhaps in javascript, where the 1st SAP gui session can be killed immediately and the 2nd browser opened?
I have already used different components like RRI, ClOSE_WINDOW, Script_item in WAD but with no avail.
Any ideas is highly appreciated.

Im glad that you answered me. Your feedback was helpful for me and a source of good news for our project.
I saw the B1DE form generator, it is still axed on the screen painter, and also I saw Ibais project.
I realize that SBO developers need a more powerful tool for developing their add-ons. For the same reason we have started this project and well continue to develop it.
This is not just a .srf generator and converter. A powerful feature is that our visual objects have implemented the business objects from DI API (of course you choose with what business objects the visual objects are associated, obviously for performance reasons). The business logic can be made at the designer level. It is improper to say that they generate code because the code is embedded in the visual objects, and no code line is added. For example a complex choose from list can be made in a few minutes without any code writing. In a month the SBO UI add-on generator will be ready. So you can have the add-on developed with Axel Controls in Windows forms without writing hundreds of lines, and additionally with a click the SBO UI add-on will be generated automatically (srfs, functionality, menu and the .exe). And lets not forget that the Windows forms solution made with Axel Controls has the same feel and look as the SBO.
If you still have ideas or suggestions please post them.

DMS: CV02N without delete original option...any Authorisation object exist?

I have a requirement that a person requires to link WBS element, PO item or PR item to some documents which he doesn't has no authorisation to create or change since those are not created by his Dept. but he wants to links them to his WBS lement or PR item.
So i was thinking of creating a role for him by giving a change mode athourization to those doc types but then he also gets the authorization to delete the original,
Which he should not get.
So is there any athuo. Obj. to control it or by any other method i can control it.

Delete authorization comes automatically with change role.
So if you want this solution in SAP GUI then you have 2 options
1. Make a ZTABLE with User IDs whom you want to restrict deletion activity and maintain the same in the cv02n user exit. This will disable your delete button.
2. There is a BAPI i.e Document_Auth01 implement that and then remove the activity 52 from Auth Object C_DRAW_TCS. This will also restrict users from deleting originals.
Else if you also want this solution is Easy DMS then to make you aware both above changes will not have any affect on EASY DMS there you can achieve this via registry Entries or Via ACL's.

Customers want to pay for such interactive applications: SAP GUI subscribes to external events, provides visual feedback for these events, and popups other screens related to events. And all this without user action (almost:).

You can deploy both Applications and Packages using the Application Catalog.
Just make sure to target a user collection.
Deploy to users as "Avaliable" and it will show up in the Application Catalog.

How to log on to SAP GUI 6.4?

after installing SAP gui 6.4 i have to log on into sap
i read many Documents that says i have to copy a saplogon.ini
to the SAP directory when i copy this file in description
i have logon names.when i logon with one of them i have to connect to Internet and have a username and password.
but i want to make logon without connect to internet.
what should i do?

Hi Javad,
the server installations I mentioned are compete insofar as you can run them and connect to the server using SAP GUI. You can also run the basic transactions and do ABAP development.
I assume when you say 'complete system' you mean including all business applications. This is not available as some sort of download, and I don't think it's feasible to set this up just for testing.

SAP GUI with SNC logon and Hummingbird Exceed - SAP GUI window size issue

We have discovered an issue when SAP GUI 7.10 is used to logon via SNC and Hummingbird Exceed is used on the same workstation to logon to a UNIX system either via x-windows or telnet.
When the user logs onto a UNIX system using Hummingbird Exceed, then uses SAP GUI to logon to a SAP system with SNC authentication, the SAP GUI authentication works, but the favourites list is not fully displayed and has to be resized before any of the entries are available.
Has anybody else seen this issue, and do they know if there is a fix available ? We wondered if there might be an issue with fonts or some other sort of conflict between Exceed and SAP GUI, but it is strange that the problem only occurs if SNC authentication is being used, and when userid+password is used to logon to SAP the problem does not occur.

I was curious too as I found it interesting... so I tested a few combinations, but could not reproduce what Tim has described, at least not before my CPU reached 100% and the applications stopped responding (~2GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 48 kbps connection, latency ~ 2 x width of the Pacific Ocean, but Backend 7.00!).
However I did notice some indications which might be a help (based on 7.00!):
Back in 4.?? there was a problem in that large menus could not be searched(!). Sorry, I don't have access to SAP now, but from memory the note # was 444043 (or very similar) and introduced a form routine for large menus - from a printscreen I still have the message number which led me to the note - 'I476(S#)'.
The system certainly distinguishes between MENU_TYPEs and the above note corrections could be found in several locations relating to the SAP menu 'S', the role menu 'A' etc, but I could only see that for favourites 'F' this is implemented for the menu search (when searching, not when loading).
@ Tim: Ask you customer to create a favourites menu which only has 1 node or max 2 (certainly not more than 4!) and ~ 20 executable objects in it (not more than 30!)? Can they under any conditions achieve the described problem with such a menu?
If not possible to reproduce, then the closest I could guess is a maximum limit of 4 nodes and max 30 objects for a 'F'avourite menu, before it is a minimum candidate for "performance problems" and consideration to be converted to a role ('A'ctivity group) menu instead.
Sorry that I can only help by speculating, because I could not reproduce what you have described.
Hopefully this problem will not happen to me in the New Year, and hope you will solve it for the rest of the year

Username and password issue in SAP GUI logon-Please help

Usually I download the tx.sap file from my work system it downloads and opens the main screen directly.( password is disabled for us). Now when I connect from home(home system through VPN) ,i can download tx.sap file from my company's SAP web portal ,but when I open the same through SAP GUI on my system it pops up a password screen- the issue is my employee ID is already populated in the username tab, but when I provide my domain password (i tried all my passwords),it throws an error -you do not require a password, now when i try without a password it shows fill in all required entry fields. Please assist.

If you enter just the username, the network is not sure which "AD Domain" to contact tp authenticate you as a user. So you need to specify the domain name in any of the below 2 formats. Give it a try.
Format 1 - [email protected]
Format 2 - DOMAIN\UserName

Adding link on SAP Gui logon page

Hi All,
I have the problem that I need to add a link on the SAP Gui logon page.
Within the transaction SE61 I have added the general text ZLOGIN_SCREEN_INFO.
When I click on the Insert Command I have the possibility to create a link but the char. format F4 list is empty and it does not accept the link creation without it being filled.
Does anybody have an idear?

SSO to mulitple SAP GUI based systems in the Portal

Hi Experts,
I need to create links for multiple SAP Systems (based on the SAP GUI) in the portal and implement SSO for them. Can someone tell me where and how to place these links in the portal? Is there a standard approach for this, like a "Systems" iview or something?

Hi,
So have you created 5 diiferent systems on Portal corresponding to your backend systems :
SAP ERP Dev
SAP ERP Qua
SAP ERP Prd
SAP CRM Dev
SAP SEM Dev
Once you create the systems and the alias to these systems, you can create 5 iviews, one for each of these systems using SAP transaction iviews. The transaction code could be S000.

To open these iviews as a pop-up or in a new window, set the following property for each of these iviews in the property category "Drag and Relate" : Launch in New Window = Display in separate window.
