DMZ on 5031NV not working
I just installed U-verse internet at my house and was trying to setup my Linksys EA6500 with the UV 5031NV. I want to put the 5031 in bridge/ passthrough/ DMZ mode. I tried with no luck. Waht happens is that if my Linksys get an private IP from the 5031 is able to get internet connection. When I setup DMZ+ on the 5031 to my Linksys, this one lost connection. A couple of things to note: When I enable DMZ+ my linksys receive the public IP from the 5031, and DNS is 192.168.1.254 what I think is ok. I tested with other devices, like a laptop and a tablet, to set them to DMZ and the issue is the same, even it shows the pubic IP, there is no connection to internet. I guess something is wrong with the U-verse device, but any ideas should help Thanks

This is what I did to use an "internal" router. I set my "internal" router to use DHCP for the WAN address, plugged it's WAN port in to the RG, reboot the "internal" router, let the RG assign a local address to the "internal" router and then set that address to the DMZ in the RG's management interface. When I go to the "internal" router's management interface it shows as having the same WAN, gateway, and DNS addresses that the RG uses.
I set the "internal" router to assign addresses to "my" side of the network in a different IP range than what the RG uses (192.168.2.* instead of 192.168.1.*) but using the same subnet mask (255.255.255.0). My internet works fine with no interuptions and local network tasks (back ups, streaming, etc.) work as expected.
I can also still access the RG from "my" side of the network when I need to without having to change any network settings or swap any cables. Leave DHCP running on the RG. You do not need to disable the firewall in the RG as the DMZ will open a pinhole through it to the address you pick (your internal router). If you have existing wireless on your router that your satisfied with and want to keep, just make sure to turn off the wireless in the RG.

ASA 5505 ver 8.4 DMZ to Outside not working
I have an ASA 5505 ver 8.4. The configuration is provided below. My INSIDE hosts are able to get to the internet via the Outside interface. The DHCP for my INSIDE hosts are handled by my L3 3560 switch. My DMZ hosts DHCP is handled by the ASA 5505. I've included packet-tracer results for both from the DMZ to the Outside address (DNS server) and a return packet tracer from the Outside interface to the DMZ host address. I see that the return is failing, however everything I have tried so far hasn't worked. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Airport Express dmz (Default address) not working same with port forwarding
My configuration is as follows: MacBook Pro w/10.5.4 Server and standard, Comcast HighSpeed cable, Airport Express.
With the laptop connected directly, all services work fine. Specifically Web serving, Quicktime streaming server.
With Airport connected, all browsing works. Forwarding to web server port 80 works.
Forwarding to QTSS doesn't work.
Setting the default address (DMZ) doesn't solve problem.
Ideas?I used the Expess presets. Ports 554 and 7070. I even tried adding UDP ports from the setup manual.
My real issue is that the DMZ should direct all traffic to the server and it doesn't seem to be working. -
SCEP definition updates for clients in DMZ via UNC is not working.

I have configured SCEP definition updates via UNC method for my Win 8.1 clients in DMZ and its not working.
Script is properly associated with task scheduler and downloading definition to shared folder properly.

Ping to Switch in DMZ not working from Edge Switch
Hi Everyone,
Below is my home Lab setup
Sw1----trunk ----ospf sw2-------direct conenction to ASA------DMZ ------SW3 -------
Switch3 has SVI IP 192.168.69.1
I can ping the IP 169.168.69.1 from sw2 as this has default static route to ASA outside interface IP address.
But i can not ping IP 192.168.69.1 from SW1 need to why ?
is this default behaviour?
On switch 1 i add the static route 192.168.69.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.11.1
Where 192.168.11.1 is interface IP of Sw2 which has direct connection to ASA outside Interface IP ---192.168.11.2.
Also i define Loopback IP 192.167.77.1 on Sw3.
This IP i can ping from Sw1 but IP 192.168.69.1 i can not ping.
I define below static route of Sw1
ip route 192.168.77.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.10.2
where 10.2 is vlan 10 IP on Sw2.

RV042 DMZ not working fully (FW: 1.3.12.19-tm)
Hi,
discover this weekend an annoying bug in the DMZ for RV042 (either way DMZ with second WAN port or via config menu)
I tried Exchange 2007 with DMZ (yes I know, should not be DMZ) receive email was fine but the OWA didn't work. Error after confirm the certification exception (looks like the certificate use the Router MAC as CN, what is strange) is:
501 Not Implemented
The requested method is not implemented by this server.
Doing DMZ with the Linksys Linksys WRT54GL (FW: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/10/09) std - build 13064)it is working like a charm.
so my conclusion is that the DMZ of my RV042 is not working properly.
Can I open a support issues with Linksys/Cisco for this, so there fix it in the next fw?

TiloThe firmware you are trying to install is only for the newer version 3 RV042's and will
not install on your device. You may want to try re-flashing your current firmware to see if that helps. -
ASA-5505 Site-to-Site Not Working
I am somewhat new to Cisco but to do have some experience. I am trying to connect two ASA 5505's together via site-to-site VPN. They are configured with public IPs and all other services are working. I have used the VPN wizard on both boxes successfully but the tunnels are not working. The two devices are on the Comcast network. Any help would be appreacited.

I've got some issues with a Lync 2013 setup.
The config consists of 2 lync servers. One FE and one Edge. All seems to work except audio in meetings and Sip.
The setup is like this (fake ip's used):
Front End:
Internal IP: 172.16.0.10
External IP: x.x.185.10
All ports open in Cisco ASA
internal AD DNS: dialin/lync/meet/lyncdiscover to Front end internal ip. edge/lsedge/sip points to edge internal ip
EDGE:
Interal IP: 172.16.0.11 (no gateway configured)
External IPS: x.x.185.11, x.x.185.12, x.x.185.13
All external IP's are direct internet facing, no NAT (a firewall is in place).
All external interfaces are using a wildcard certificate.
All server are running in a remote data center, so basically no internal users. We all connect to the external interfaces. The Windows domain name (AD) is the same as our External DNS (companyname.com).
Autodiscover works, we can logon, chat but there is no audio. The audio test failes. Also SIP is not working with a sip trunk.
External DNS: sip/webconf/av are pointing to their external ip's. sipexternal is a cname to sip. lyncdiscover/lync/dialin/meet all point to the Frond end External ip.
_sip._tls/_sipfederationtls.tcp/_xmpp-server.tcp all point to the sip.companyname.com ip.
I just can't figure out what is wrong.@PSingh123 I'll try the logs in a minute and get back with the results.
@PaulB_NZ Thanks for the input. In my opinion the FE does need an external IP. How else will you be able to connect if you are a remote worker?
The Edge is (asfar as i know) needed for Enterprise voice and Federation with other (external) sip domains. It's not needed for basic (chat/video/whiteboard etc) Lync functionality for both internal and external (remote) users.
The Edge is to communicate with services/users outside the origanisation.
I do still think that the basic topology (FE with internal IP and Nat'ed external ip working with an Edge with internal IP and 1 external IP nat'ed to 3 DMZ ip's) is correct in this case.
I can be wrong and in that case would like to be pointed to the correct configuration.

Image Buttons Not Working in IE10 Normal Mode
Hi Team,
Greetings of the Day!! We are supporting a project which included the technologies "ADF , BPEL , AIA , SOA".
We have a page developed in ADF and the page contains TABS.
We have a LOV which have 'Add Product' as one of the value.
When we click try to Configure the Line for a particular Product it is redirecting dmz-server where we have 'YES/NO' Buttons but this buttons are not working in IE-10 Normal mode and in other browsers buttons are working fine.
Could some one please help me on this.
ThanksFor that matter, the "return to menu" which is set to a Main button type, isn't working either. that is one of the three. After i had removed the damaged button and copied it from another it worked. Then i simply edited the text of a different button (mind you one that still works) and the "return to menu" quit along with the bottom 2 buttons. I just can't figure it out. I have shut the app down and restarted and nothing seems to be working

All nodes from cat3550 in vlan247 must go to inside nodes using VRF and tunnel, all others using usual routing (EIGRP).
So,we want to access mail server 192.168.7.33, which is located in inside net (not VRF), but not successfull.
As I see all packets from node in VLAN247 are go straight on to server (not via tunnel),and back packets go via PIX (because there are no subnets 192.168.247.48 255.255.255.248 and 192.168.247.32 255.255.255.240 in EIGRP routing, and PIX is a default routing point)
and I see PIX log message like this:
Deny tcp src inside:192.168.7.33/110 dst dmz:192.168.247.35/49384 by access-group "acl_inside"
(permit clause is from DMZ to INSIDE zone, not vice versa)
However when i do
telnet 192.168.7.33 110 /vrf MMM
from cat3550
it works fine!
and I see that packets go correctly via tunnel and then via PIX to server.
Accessing between subnets 192.168.247.48 255.255.255.248 and 192.168.247.32 255.255.255.240 is fine too! (why???)
I tried set
ip route vrf MMM 192.168.7.33 255.255.255.255 Tunnel1
but no effect.
What I do wrong? Why does it not work?

Thanks!I found that VRF work correctly when and only when destination host not in global routing (EIGRP in my case). But this happen with ip of nodes within VLAN, ip address of VLAN on cisco is access correctly anytime.
Why? Does anybody knows it?

Ichat video not working only to one person
I've read most of the post on "i chat not working"; but has anyone had it to not work only to one individual. This is my case. I can video i chat with my son in FWB FL. with no problem. He has an Apple also. I can take my laptop to his location and video i chat with my sister-in-law in Jefferson Ga. But, I cannot video i chat with my sister-in-law from my location, Valrico, Fl. to her location in Jefferson Ga. I have had a 3 way phone conversation going with Apple, My internet provider and her internet provider and no one can solve the problem. Does anyone have any assistance they can provide. I'm not computer savy; so be patient and go slow and detail with me; thanks. Norm
More often than not this is about the way a modem or router or combo at either end use NAT.
NAT is Network Address Translation.
It is the way a device shares an Internet connection with several devices/computers.
However NAT means different things to different devices and not all devices therefore are doing what is called NAT the same way.

So what you may have is a device at either end that does not or will not play nicely with another device.
This can be particularly the case if the device has to use Port Forwarding or Port Triggering or is using the DMZ to open ports.
Using UPnP reduces the problem in many cases.

Makes and models please with what they are doing to open the ports for iChat.
As Defcom has pointed out with certain connection it can be the Speed difference in the Internet connection both up and down that can be a factor.

My Video chat is not working with messages.
When someone tries to send me an invite for a video chat the green light shows up but I do not receive and invitation window to accept it.
I am using an aim account on messages and my server settings are api.oscar.aol.com, port 443, and use SSL is checked.
In connection doctor is says my router type is port restricted and that "This computer's network setup includes one or more devices that are not fully compatible with audio and video chatting. I am not sure if this is the reason my video chat is not working.

Most routers can be accessed via Web Browser.
The IP shown in System Preferences > Network > Advanced Button > TCP/IP tab in the "Router IP" box is generally the one to use.
You also tend to need a User ID and Password.
Apple Base Stations are different in that they have an App in the Utilities folder that accesses the set up screens.
Your router can have different methods of opening the ports.
Port Forwarding
This tends to be the oldest of the methods.
Essentially you point a port to an IP (computer) to allow it.
A collection of ports may need to be entered one by one.
Once set up, only that computer can use those ports.
Port Triggering
This cuts down the number of ports set to be Open as it involves "listening" ports that then open further ports
iChat/Messages needs some ports to be open all the time and you set these a bit like Port Forwarding but with listing the IP to send the data to.
The A/V side can have a listening port (port 5678 for the Visible part of the Invite)
The advantage is that multiple computers can use the same ports.
DMZ (Demilitarised Zone)
This is an ON or Off setting (Enable/Disable)
It opens all the port (65535 of them) to one IP (i.e only one computer can use this.)
It is sort of like Port Forwarding Extreme
UPnP (Universal Plug 'n' Play)
A setting that allows the App to tell the router which ports to open.
This means the router can carry on doing DHCP and multiple computer can use the ports involved.
Where these setting are varies at least as much as there are manufacturers.

Successmaker program not working behind Cisco SA520
My customer is a small school in British Columbia. They have used the Successmaker program (written by Pearson Education) to teach numeracy and literacy skills. Since installing a SA520 the teachers are saying that Successmaker does not work properly.
I am at my wits end.
I have disabled content filtering for the SA520, I have disabled IDS on the SA520. I am using the default outbound firewall rule allowing inside addresses access anywhere on the Internet, and I have created an inbound firewall rule allowing all traffic and all services from the Successmaker server IP address that their tech support gave us.Their app is still unable to work properly.
What am I missing?
Before the SA520 was installed the school was using PAT to map different ports on the public IP on the school cable modem to inside addresses. The whole school was a big DMZ, and any port scanning would have reached into their network. The port mappings were never communicated to the Successmaker folks, so I doubt they were ever relevant to the issue. The Successmaker App is web based, and according to their tech support uses "transfer encoding:chunked" technology. I read up on this and it dates back pre Web 2.0 (pre flash, pre silverlight, pre basically the silicon chip). It is discussed in RFC 2616, the SA520 is Linux based, not IOS based. Does that mean that it does not understand RFC2616? I doubt it, and even if it didn't understand RFC 2616 surely all the steps I have taken above would blow a hole the size of a barn door through the firewall?
If this weren't a school would not be as emotionally connected as I am to their situation. Without this firewall they will be without much protection at all.

I'm sorry to say that putting a student computer in the DMZ didn't resolve the issue.
In setting up the DMZ I made the following changes -
1) I confirmed that the Option interface was in DMZ mode, and that it had a static IP on a new subnet.
2) We also configured the DMZ DHCP to assign addresses in the subnet, using the firewall DMZ IP as default gateway, and using the firewall DMZ IP as DNS server.
3) I created a default firewall rule allowing all outbound traffic from the DMZ to the Internet, and created a firewall rule allowing all inbound traffic from the Successmaker server on the Internet (insecure) zone to the DMZ.
4) I confirmed that IPS was off for the DMZ (Default) and that the content filter exception for the DMZ was still disabled.
The same problem occurred, which makes me believe that the reason for the application not working in the LAN zone had nothing to do with IPS or content filtering. As far as the firewall rule goes, the impact of the inbound rule seems to have been the same - i.e. ineffectual.
Connecting the PC running successmaker directly to the school cable modem works.
The possibility that the application in question has traffic blocked because of a RFC (2616?) governing the way get and post requests should be formatted would still exist so long as integrity/compliance checking of packets is something that cannot be bypassed via the firewall configuration. Suffice it to say that the application appears dated and uses nothing of web 2.0. One of the options available to my customer is the purchase of the Web 2.0 version of successmaker ($600/seat), but they are only prepared to explore this option if the indications are that the older application, not the firewall is at fault. Pearson Education support swears blindly that thousands of BC school children continue to use the old app behind Cisco firewalls. I don't deny that the possibility exists that the Pearson support technician is stretching the truth, having an older application that has ceased to function with more sophisticated firewalls because RFC violations in packet formatting have become significant would doubtless present a solid easy-sell for their upgraded version, which is expensive, especially for a school. -
E4200 port forwarding not working (v1 1.0.05)
Hi there.
I'll try not to rant too much, but I've had nothing but problems with this 'supposed' high end router... and when I tried calling Cisco I got the old yee-ha to cough up $30 for tech support on a $200 router I got 10 months ago (/rant).
Anyway, following several speed drop issues with my router, I factory reset about 5 times. I later read in the internetz that QoS on these routers was causing the speed to fall to half no matter what settings are used, so I disabled QoS. This time I seem to have steady speeds, but no port forwarding method I use works! Used to work fine, but now Single PF, PF Range or anything else I can think of fails miserably. Even DMZ can't seem to open ports...
I am extremely disappointed in this router and please, don't advise me to factory reset: I've tried, it doesn't work and quite frankly I have way too many devices to painfully reconnect to not send me over the edge.
Please, if anyone has any idea what's going on, your help is more than welcome.

To protect your router against possible DNS Rebinding Attacks, certain actions will not work from behind a router. Typically, doing this is for testing purposes. What you can do to test if a certain application (port forward) works remotely, is to do it from outside your network.
To test this functionality, this must be done from the outside of the router (remote area). This includes even if the “Filter anonymous Internet requests” is unchecked.

Router Port Forwarding not working since Mavericks
I have an iMac sat behind a BT Home Hub 3 (an ADSL router, if you're not aware), with several ports (POP3, SSH, HTTP, etc) from the outside world forwarded via the hub to my Mac. Since installing Mavericks (from Snow Leopard), NONE of these ports are now open.
They're open on the Mac, and another machine on my home network can use them locally, but from outside the network, they're hidden. Shields Up shows them as Stealth.
Things I've tried:
Rebooting everything.
Setting the Home Hub up again, forwarding all the ports again.
Turning all the sharing off in Mavericks and then back on.
Trying the same services on different ports.
Trying different services.
Turning off the Mac firewall.
Turning off the router firewall.
Trying the Mac on another IP address and reforwarding everything to the new one.
Putting the Mac in the DMZ.
I can forward ports to other devices on my network (e.g. my NAS) and they work fine, so port forwarding isn't completely broken on the router
Here's the thing though...
On a completely separate network, on a separate Mac (a 2012 MacBook Pro) that went from Mountain Lion to Mavericks, also behind a BT Home Hub 3, EXACTLY the same thing is happening. No ports can be forwarded to the MacBook Pro, but all the ports are open to the local network.
Any ideas? I'm pretty sure this must be a bug in Mavericks as I can't see anything else it can be.It's not just single port forwarding that has bugs, the entire router has bugs and simply does not work as advertised. I have found the following bugs/aspects of this router that just does not work correctly: 1. If you have to open ports, and who doesn’t, this router will eventually stop accepting packets from WAN>LAN. You will still have Internet access but no open ports. A reboot will fix this problem. Oh, by the way, this router has no scheduled reboot option! <--That would be a workaround but a welcome one for this router. 2. Firewall Access rules do not work!! Yep, a Cisco router and basic functionality simply does not work. I called Cisco and even though the tech saw the router not working denied it was a bug! Said we have to do port mirroring, setup a workstation with WireShark and capture packets so we can debug the issues. That would take several hours. I told him I would have appreciated if Cisco would have debugged the issues with their router BEFORE they shipped the units. Stay away from Cisco Small Business Routers. I wish I had. And if there are any Cisco die-hards out there willing to prove me wrong, just reply to this and please, prove me wrong that the RV series and specifically the RV215W is not JUNK.
