DNS set-up for multiple servers?

I need some DNS advice....
I am replacing our old OS Leopard server (that provided web hosting, email, file serving, dns, etc.) with four new Mac Mini Servers (Maverick) to distribute the services. We had an issue on the old machine's fileserver service that brought all services to a halt and then the employees to a halt.
Since one machine was the central hub of everything it was easy to set-up the DNS to point to it for everything. Now that I have four machines (one of them serving the DNS) I need to know how to point to the other services. The DNS user interface only allows me to input DNS infer for that particular server. How do I add names and address in the DNS to point to the other three servers?

To add to MrHoffman's advice, as long as the two machines have different IP addresses, they will only know about each other if you tell them.
For example, server.gilliland.com is running Leopard and is at address 172.16.0.10. You want a new device to also be know as server.gilliland.com but don't want to shut the other one down. Ok, give it another address, 172.16.0.11 for example and define on it DNS that points server.gilliland.com to 172.16.0.11. As far as the new server knows, it is server.gilliland.com and is start of authority for the gilliland.com domain. The old server thinks the same thing. But as long as you don't tell either about the other, they will live happily in the belief that they are the one and only server.gilliland.com server.
Now, as longs are you are already relying on DNS (meaning nothing is linked via IP), then you can completely build you entire new OD cluster while the old systems is still running. DHCP will tell everyone to use DNS from the old server. You new servers will be configured with new DNS and they will all be in on the new secret. When you are ready to make the migration to the new cluster, change DHCP and push new DNS out to the clients. As long as they connect by name (server.gilliland.com) they will not miss a beat.
Depending on your services, this can be done with almost no downtime. Got lots of data? rsync it. The biggest headache you will have is likely the mail migration. That is a torture I wish on no one. Make sure you have a backup plan, a regression plan, a head for the border plan, and then an alternate plan for when all of those plans fall apart. I also suggest closing your port forwards on the firewall when you decide to move mail. This will allow you to validate the migration without new mail coming in. Thus, if something goes wrong, but not completely "the sky is falling" wrong, then you can restore the old server, open the firewall, and live to try again another day.

Or you can simply use the Restore option of Disk Utility to clone the drive to the backup:

Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.

Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.

As I understand you want to publish single stream to multiple server, so that you can load balance the subscribers..
So the answer is .. that this is possible with FMS.. FMS provides ways to scale you infrastructure.. So you might use "Multi-point publishing feature" of the FMS. This feature allows you to forward your RTMP streams from one FMS server to another FMS server..

There is another way to publish the same stream to two server.. From FMLE, you can publish the same stream to at most 2 server.. In FMS you can simultaneously connect to at max two servers.. There are two connection URL edit boxes " FMS URL, and Backup URL" You may provide both for two different FMS servers..
Let me know does the information help.. It would be really good if you can elaborate your use case.. because just for the purpose of scaling.. there are multiple options, like edge-origin server topology, DVRCast or live cast set-up, multipoint-point publishing etc.. But what to use actually depends upon the use case...

Set Category for multiple IR's via Button in Taskbar

I have been searching the net for this for some time now, but wasn't successful, so maybe here is somebody who could help me. Hope I did select the correct forum for this thread...
In SCSM 2012 - is it possible to set the category for multiple IRs in one step via button in the taskbar, same like being able to assign multiple IRs to Analysts or change Status via button in taskbar, without need to open each IR and set it in there?

Yes it's possible, but I'm unaware of any solution out there that you can just plug&play. (Somebody might know of one, though!)
If you're a developer (or know a developer), then you can create a custom console task in Visual Studio, bundle it with a management pack, and import that management pack.

To solve your specific request, the console task code will (again, at a high level) present a window for the user to choose a classification category. Then, after clicking apply on that window, the console task code will iterate through all of the "nodes"
sent as a parameter to the console task. A "node" represents an incident selected by the user in the incident view. For each incident in the list, set the classification category to whatever value the user selected, then apply the changes to
that incident.

Setting property for multiple objects?

I need to set the access property for multiple objects based on the selection of a radio button group. I assume I have to use resolveNodes(), but cannot for the life of me get it to work. Here's what I've played with :

This approach will only work if your fields are all under OtherCase_gp, Radzmar's solution is more general if your form has a more complicated hierarchy.

Selective IP filtering for multiple servers in a domain?

Is it possible to have IP filtering on for certain servers in a
domain, and not for others?
This is the situation:
I am deploying two servers in mydomain, so let's call it serverA
and serverB. I want serverA to accept all connections while
serverB accepts connections only from certain IPs. I know you
can do IP filtering using SimpleConnectionFilter in the
"Connection Filter" option in Security->General tab of the Admin
console, but this turns on IP filtering for BOTH serverA and
serverB! How do I turn it on for one, and not the other? Any
help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
Yes you can have muliple servers in a domain. You can create as many managed
servers as your hardware can handle. When you added the server, did you use the
startManagedWebLogic.sh (or .cmd) script to start the server. Once you do that,
you should see the server as running.

I have web dynpor alv tables set up for multiple selections but not working

I have numerous alv tables within my application and i have following the steps needed to set them up for multiple selection.
The context node selection property is set up as 0..n
I also have the modify method set up with the method call

I also have the no lead selection option set so initially there is no entry selected
I can select one entry without a problem.
I can also select one entry and then if i use the shift button when selecting another record it will select all the records in between.
However i cant pick numerous individual records at the same time.
I try by selecting a record and the n using the control button to select a second record but it wont work.
Any ideas what i am missing or what i am doing wrong.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Best wifi set up for multiple routers and appletvs

Hi, just got the new June 2013 "tower" airport extreme in my ongoing quest to improve non ethernet wifi in my large house (lots of bathrooms and solid block walls, no cable)
Trying to figure out best set up for the various routers and whether or not to use "Bridge" mode. Have the following
New tower airport extreme
2 x older airport extremes
3 airports
5 apple tvs each in a different room for streaming media to 5 televisions
SO planning to factory re-set all my old airports and then install the tower airport in prime receiving position. It will recieve the wifi signal via an ethernet cable from the "radio" on my roof which receives my internet signal. (Actually faster than most wired internet in the small town I live in).
Tower = main receiver and distributor of internet
1 x older airport extreme distributing this signal further into the house - SHOULD THIS BE IN BRIDGE MODE?
2 or more others distributing the signal from the older airport extreme further into the house - SHOULD THEY ALSO BE IN BRIDGE MODE?
I'm very unclear on the benefit of bridge mode. Currently all my routers operate freely and are just extenders - not in bridge mode. Devices just hook into whatever router is nearest - some of which show Excellent wifi and the furtherest show only "Good wifi. I have one room at the very end of my house where the wifi is pretty weak.
Any comments on set up or especially the value of Bridge mode and whether all down-stream routers should be bridged or just extended much appreciated. I guess there is a possibility that I place the 2 older extremes in two main extending locations. One for one section of the house and the other to receive the signal direct from the Tower Airport Extreme to distribute the other end of the house section. So should they both be bridged....?

When an AirPort is properly configured to extend the wireless range of another, it is automatically reconfigured into Bridge mode.
Each of AirPorts that you will use to extend the new 802.11ac AirPort Extreme would all need to be configured as such. Please check out this Apple Support article on how to extend AirPorts.
The key here is to understand that the extended network works in a wheel-like fashion with the base station being extended at the hub of the wheel and each of the extending ones on one of the spokes. I've found the same problem in OS X Lion, with Mail, iCal and Address Book getting confused when two Exchange accounts on the same server are configured, resulting in either missing or duplicate entries (despite everything appearing fine when accessing the accounts individually via Outlook or OWA). iOS doesn't have any problem with this setup; two Exchange accounts on the same server work perfectly; the issue seems specific to Mac OS X.
After some experimentation I've found a workaround. Since the issue crops up with two Exchange accounts on the same server, it seems possible to trick OS X into thinking the accounts are on two separate servers through a little DNS manipulation (which I realize may not be a practical option for everyone). Here's what resolved the issue for me:
My external and internal DNS FQDNs for the mail server were mail.mydomain.com.
I set up a new DNS entry - mail2.mydomain.com - as a CNAME for mail.mydomain.com.
On my Mac, I set up Exchange account #1 with the server set to mail.mydomain.com.
I then set up Exchange account #2 with the server set to mail2.mydomain.com.
Even though both FQDNs resolve to the same IP, this seems sufficient for Mac OS X to consider them as separate servers, elliminating the problems I had before when I set both Exchange accounts to the same mail server FQDN.
I've only tried this on OS X 10.7 Lion, and the recent 10.7.1 update, although I wouldn't be surprised if the same trick works for earlier versions of OS X.

Renew Machine Certificate for multiple Servers

Hi,
We have Windows 2003 Enterprise CA which issues certificates to servers which are used for various purpose like Wifi Authentication, Secure RDP. We have checked that the certificates are going to expire within few weeks. We want to renew certificates before
expiry but the number of servers is high so we cannot do it manually by logging into each server.
We doesn't have ACRS enabled for computer certificates and even if we configure it now that will not help.
Is there a way to renew the certificates for all the servers remotely.

I think that you're confusing Automatic Certificate Request Services and
autoenrollment. In your first post in this thread you mention ACRS, however
the above settings are for autoenrollment. ACRS is only for certificates
that are based upon V1 certificate templates and then only for machine
certificates. Autoenrollment on the other hand does not work for anything
less than V2 certificates and supports both machine and user certificates.
If you're using V1 certificate templates then you can set autoenrollment
settings in a GPO and it will not have any impact at all.

I have install exchange server 2013 and working fine but right now i have some change in DNS server record and my mail services stop. what record add to start my mail services ( sent and received). till now exchange server mail box give the error mail not
connected with server. Please revered ASAP.

couple of things to notice. if you saying your exchange services stopped... this wont happen because of DNS or are you saying you exchange is not working/mail flow.
now i would suggest to quickly check the mail services. run a test for inbound and outbound at exrca.com there you will have the proper answer that what you have missed.
and at last.. for DNS.. you need MX and A record for your email server for basic functioning .. and for autodiscover couple of more. lets verify the MX and A record first and then verify the send and receive connector. to verify MX do a Nslookup as below
>cmd
>nsloookup   {This should resolve to your local DNS if you running this from exchange server, which is recommended and should not time out}
>set type=mx
> your-domain.com {This should result "A" record / FQDN of your mail server}
> set type=A {To verify the above FQDN should point to right IP}
> mail.your-domain.com [assuming that in MX output you got mail-your-domain.com]
> 1.1.1.1 [IP of your email server]
if you are able to verify above then your chances are you dont have issue with DNS.
Make sure from oursite you are able to telnet t tour exchange server on port 25 and from inside you are able to resolve names from your exchange server and also have internet access.if you able to verify till this point then its the turn now to verify send
and receive connector. one easy way is exrca.com and then share the results.

Condition records- setting printer for multiple vendors at the same time

Hi all,
I have maintained condition record for POs for Key combination of Doc type,Purch Org and vendors.Now for a particular doc type and P.Org , I have around 50 vendors. I need to change the printer for all these 50 vendors to 'printerx'.Is it possible? I tried selecting multiple vendors at a time and changed the printer but its not working.

You can achieve this through SCAT transaction.
For running SCAT take the help of ABAP team.
I hope u might be having the list in the form of text file.
If not , download the same from NACH table.

Open same port for multiple servers.

I am sorry if this sounds rudimentary, but I wanted to make sure. I want to open up port 80 to more than one web server. I already have port 80 open on one public IP address and have another one ready to use for another server. My assumption is that I should just be able to create a policy using the additional IP address and use port 80 without any issues. Is that correct to assume? I would also like to know, how one would do this is they only had one public IP address. I believe these should be relatively easy questions for the experts here. Thanks.

If you have a netblock from which you can assign multiple IP addresses then, yes - just asign additional access-list entries and static NAT entries.
If you only had a single (or limited number all in use) public IP address then you would have to use some sort of PAT (port address translation). for instance:
server 0 is <outside address>:80
server 1 is <outside address>:81
server 2 is <outside address>:82
..etc. Your remote users would then have to specify the non-default port (80/81/82) when browsing to the site.
