Do I have the slowest BROADBAND in the country?

I Live in a 5 bedroom, house, only 8 years old, and a fairly new estate of several hundred houses. I live in a Village but it is Urban all the way to my nearest town Mansfield 5 miles away.
Having checked speedtest.net 15 countries in Africa have average broadband speeds faster than me. South Africa ill take on the chin but Ethiopia and Uganda hurts. It hurts badly. A slight wave of Euphoria hit me when I saw I beat Mozambique by 30kbps on a good day.
I spoke to script woman in Mumbai, many times. It always sounds promsing, I try to skip the off and on trick, scanning my brand new computer for virus's, the usual spiel, one lady promised me she could help. Then (And I am not joking) she tried to dial onto my computer. She struggled to do anything explaining "its a little bit slow for me to connect". Even she seemed frustrated. However, she offered me the following AMAZING deal:
She would send an engineer to my house to fix it, but if it was MY FAULT it was slow, I would have to pay. Does the list of things which are "My fault" include where I live?. I was told I live too far away from the exchange. I insist, the exchange is too far away from me. And the other 2000 people here.
I have had the engineer. He laughed. This is my speed. Nothing can save me.
I cannot watch BBCiplayer. My bandwidth cannot take it. I cannot watch anything on youtube in 720p. And as I have a big house, the fact that this amazing router only allows 4 simultanious connections is appalling. We have more phones than that. No gues can use my wifi.
EVEN WORSE, I have that BT FON activated. Do I seem like the kind of guy that needs to share his internet? Any unsuspecting punter connecting to this would be dragged down with me.
Can I just connect each device in my house using BT FON to different routers in my street? An all out bandwidth attack that makes anything function even slightly and not have to dip into my vast 800kbps? (I say that, I have never EVER seen a download from anywhere show more than 120kbps)
When I read about "infinity" and "lightspeed" I want to cry. By the time I have downloaded my latest BT Bill people will be on BT Telepathy, ill still be sat trying to buffer a repeat of "Have I got news for you".
I have suffered this for nearly 4 years now but I think im going to crack....

My wall socket is the only socket in the house I can use for internet. Despite many phone sockets. And it is up on the 3rd floor. Since the router apparently doesnt like sending the signal downwards this also means in my own house in the Kitchen (below) I have no wireless. The wall socket has two little sockets, one says ADSL on it, the other is for the phone line. I dont use the landline at all, just the one on my moanhub. What I want to know is, why should I pay the same as someone with 20mbps? Now that web pages are stacked, its as slow as my dial up was years ago.
I found today I could not even view a 420p youtube vid. And why is my upload faster than my download is that normal? Why is a NEW service, infinity being rolled out, when I can only get this unusable service? Its a smack in the face.
If I were a lone farmhouse I would understand, I am not. This is a new estate of hundreds of houses, there is a guy on my street with a Ferrari! Oh also, because its in a dip, I dont get much 3G, if I go to the top though, speedtest on my 3G is about twice as fast as my "broad"band. Best regards Spence

I have a requirement as under:
the Smartform has to display the COUNTRY NAME - always and it should be printed in ENGLISH only.
The Smartform is having a Alternative option(for printing the Address) and for YES part(for certain countries) - the fm "ADDRESS_INTO_PRINTFORM" is being used and for the NO(for the rest of the countries) part an ADDRESS TEMPLATE is being used....
The issues are:
- the fm 'ADDRESS.......FORM" is printing the COUNTRY Name for certain cases and for the rest it is not...
- the Address template has no option to do any manipulation on the COUNTRY Name to come
how can have the COUNTRY NAME to appear in both the cases(YES part and NO part) printed in ENGLISH always?
I tried for a USEREXIT "EXIT_SAPLSADR_900" but still not able to tweak it and get the COUNTRY NAME always in ENGLISH.
Kindly provide your valuable inputs.

Download the apps on your syncing computer and then sync to the iPod. Note that you can only sync apps for the one syncing computer you use with the iPod. You can manage music and videos among different computer.

Most commonly used backup methods
Th problem with HD video is it needs a fast external interface, so you should pick a external drive that uses the fastest interface your computer has to offer.
Performance rank fastest to slowest is
Thunderbolt, USB3, (newer Mac's)
Firewire 800, USB 2, Firewire 400, USB 1 (older Mac's)
Newer Windows PC's have USB3, older one's USB 2,1.
You need to format the drive if it comes FAT which a lot do, as FAT has a 4GB file size limit, so this won't work with large HD video files.
So if your going to use the drive only with a Mac, then head to Utlities > Disk Utility and format it Options: GUID Format: OS X Extended Journaled. (select the drive makers name and click Partition tab)
If your going to use the external drive with a PC, take it to the oldest PC you have and right click and format exFAT.
If you have a Windows XP machine and there is no exFAT, it can be downloaded for free from Microsoft.

A few months ago, I purchased a new iMac. I recently created a movie using iMovie. Then I found out that iDVD is not included. So I have the problem that I want to burn a movie that I can play on my DVD player and watch on a television. I rang Applecare and was told that I need a program called BURN.
Is this correct? I can export the movie from iMovie in a m4v format, but I think I need to convert this to iso format before I can burn the disc.
I know there are programs like TOAST that will do this, but it is expensive.
I would be very grateful for any assistance.

Burn will not do what you want, and there is no real substutute for iDVD.
Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac?
Apple insists that the entire world has access to fast broadband (and are prepared to pay for the considerable bandwidth usage) and wants to distribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud, YouTube, Facebook, whatever) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that in reality not all users do, has so far had no effect on this policy. If you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone Apple may send you a free copy of iDVD. Stating that they would return their brand new Mac unless they received a copy of iDVD worked for some, but that is now said to have been withdrawn by Apple.
Also, you can complain bitterly via Apple’s Feedback link, perhaps suggesting that Apple could have provided a choice between burning DVDs and distributing home movies by other means. You may feel that Apple should not dictate how you destribute family videos or photos to distant relatives and friends, and should not assume that every user is prepared to pay for the excessive bandwidth usage charged by ISPs for huge downloads from the App Store:

Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that came with OS 10.7 Lion (which also omitted iWeb) or that comes with OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. And it is no longer included in the iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/ilife/. Your only solution is to look on Amazon or eBay and try to get an older version that includes iDVD 7, i.e. iLife version 9 onwards. You should also do this if you plan to buy a new Mac anytime soon, as stocks of iLife that include iDVD will not be available for ever.
However, the vastly more expensive FCPX can burn a DVD without iDVD or DVD Studio Pro involvement, but lack the themes etc of iDVD. Also, of course, there is Roxio Toast, which is the best software for burning anything but again does not offer the flexibility of iDVD.

In other words, computer manufacturers have declared optical media as dead, long before consumers are ready to stop using them, which is fine as long as they offered us a choice, but they won’t even do that. Flexibility and intuitive use of a computer seems to be a thing of the past.

Mobile Broadband Activation - my country is not featured in the list

Hi my unknown friends. I assembled a modem to my W530 and during instalation of the "Mobile Broadband Activation" application I was asked to "select the country where I was located". Unfortunate I currently live in Iceland but Lenovo does not seem to know this country, to which they sell so much of their stuff and have they authorized service and shop there, even existed and did not deign to place it on the list. They even did not bother to put there an option like "other". What should I choose to properly and correctly complete my installation process? Thank you in advance.

hello guys, i live in lebanon too and i was so frustrated by this. however i found the solution. when setting up icloud keychain, before creating a password for the keychain press on advanced options and choose not to create a password. you will ahve to use your account password to activate keychain on other device. this will bypass the sms confirmation

2 months + to have the phone, ... in London???!

I first contacted BT on the 11th Aug to transfer our telephone line and have a broadband installed in our new flat. Nothing
extraordinary for an institution like BT, as we live in central London (W1) and we just moved a few blocks away…
Delay after delay, it took them more than 5 weeks to transfer the phone line to our flat (connection 17 Sept).
At that point, as the broadband was still not likely to be connected soon, we decided to cancel our request, and asked another provider (Vxxxxx) for the broadband connection.
Soon after, we realise the phone stopeed working (4th Oct). We called BT to declare a fault. The day after, I receive a SMS saying that my claim had been cancelled, although the phone was still not working. I called again, a technician was sent to our place (6th Oct), or that was what we both thought, except that he was sent to our old address, because, as we discovered then, the line had been transferred back to the old address, without any reason.
It seems that since then, any attempt to ask for a connection is somehow cancelled without any warning. We are given references and codes that we are told afterwards are not relevant to our problem (ex: Simultaneous Provide). Each time, we are told that the request made the day before was not dealt with properly and each time the connection date is delayed
another 2 or 3 weeks.
Ex: On Friday 7th, I am told the connection will be working on 13th Oct, but 3 days later, I am told this request didn’t go through again and that we have to book another date, but now, the earliest offered is 31st October!
As everything has gone worse since we cancelled the BT broadband to go with Vxxxxx, we have the strong feeling that BT is bullying us and trying to stop us from joining a competitor. As, Vxxxxx cannot make a broadband connection while the phone line is not working at the current address, we have been therefore completely cut out from any communication media
from home for 2 months now!
Complaint put a week ago on BT site, not a word in reply since then.
Can anybody help or should I just drop the case and run away from BT?

Disable anti virus software.
Apps such as Little Snitch, Net Nanny, and Hands Off can prevent apps from downloading including Mountain Lion as well as third party download managers.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.

The application Acrobat provides no language translation capability.
If you localize the language for OS, MS Office applications, Acrobat, etc to the desired language try again.
Alternative: transfer a copy of content into a web based translation service (Bing or Google provides a free service).
Transfer the output into a word processing program that is localized to the appropriate language.
Do cleanup.

I have the latest version of Pages installed, yet there are documents I try to open and the message "you need a newer version of Pages to open this document". Help?

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.01 can not open Pages 5.2 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5.2 files can not be opened in Pages 5.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed over 95 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

I was trying to move several albums onto a USB drive and it stated all other files exist at this location. They are pictures taken at different times and have the same number I guess.

In iPhoto albums may contain photos with the same file name - iPhoto handles that just fine
If you are exporting them to move somewhere else use the sequential file name feature of export to give each file a unique name

I have an iMac and a Macbook Pro with two different iTunes libraries. I want to have the same library on both computers with playlist and all, so that if I do anything on the iMac, the macbook will sync. Anybody who can tell me if this is possible and how to do it? I also have a timecapsule if that matters?

How to have the same iTunes library on a laptop and a desktop and be able to sync an iPod and iPhone to each one

I currently have iTunes 10 build 10.6.1.7 on my Win 7 home premium 64 bit laptop. I used this computer as my desktop for a few months until I rebuilt my old desktop. Now I want to put iTunes on the new desktop Win 7 64 bit computer. I have both an Piod Classic 80 gig and an iPhone 4 16 gig. Do to space limitations, I only sync a few of the items in the library with the iPhone. I sync the entire library with the iPod.
I want to be able to have the same library on both the laptop and desktop and sync both devices as descrbed above. Is this possible? If not possible, what is the reason for being able to have up to five machines auithorized for iTunes? I'm thinking that it h as something to do with the apple ID, but I'm not sure.
If I can't do this as I've described, what is the best way to accomplish something similar?
BTW, iTunes on the laptop says version 10.6.3 is available, but when I click download, nothing happens. How do I fix this?
I've always found iTunes to be vrey confusing.
