Do I need LTE on a i-pad if i have a i5 phone
Do I need LTE on an i_pad if I already have and i-5 phone?
If your phone contract includes the hotspot service, then no. But there are some advantages to cellular ipads, like GPS that is in included in a wifi-only ipad.

How do I find my iPad serial #? I have left it on an airplane and need the number for the report. I do not have a computer but do have an I phone
Try logging in to Apple product registration and if you registered the iPad it should be there with the serial number. If that does not work you can try calling your country support number from http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 and see if they can help get the serial number...of course they will want proof such as an Apple ID and password.

I am purchasing an i pad 2 and have an i phone i os 5.0 both with access to the cloud. i have backed up my i tunes files to the cloud. Is there any way to back up all of my existing i photo files and i work files to the cloud so that I may access them with my i pad? It's probably time to replace my mac but would like to postpone this expense for another year if possible.
There is limited iCloud compatibility on 10.5.8. To learn what iCloud compatibility exists, visit this article:

Does one really need 3G if they already have a cell phone
Does one really need an iPad with 3G if they allready have a cell phone.
It depends on the situation. For some people, they may either not need the iPad to connect to the Internet when away from WIFi, or have an Internet-capable smartphone and can tether the iPad to the phone to use the data connection and don't mind carrying both. For others, that's either not possible or not practical, or they wish to have the GPS only available in the 3G iPad, not the WiFi-only iPad.
If you're asking whether you need 3G in an iPad, we can't guess without having more information about your needs.

How can I create multiple accounts without the necessity to create multiple email addresses? I now have 2 i-phones (mine and my wife's), 1 i-pad (mine), 1 i-pad mini (10 year old's), and 1 I-pod touch (11 year old's). I would like to maintain purchase control, but would like to be able to have a separate account ID for each person. Is that possible?
Each email address can only be on one iTunes account, and all purchases are tied to the account that buys them. If you want to have separate iTunes accounts on each then you will need separate email accounts for each iTunes account

I have an I-phone and an I pad, both using the same I-cloud account.
I have an I- phone and an I pad with the same I cloud account on both
If I delete the account from the I pad - am I just deleting it from the I pad
or will it delete my I-cloud account in general and not work on my I - phoneHi printer Mike!
I have a link here that can explain to you about iCloud and turning off features of iCloud:
Change iCloud feature settings - iCloud Help
http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmb1de40d9
When you turn off an iCloud feature on a device, your up-to-date iCloud information for that feature is no longer available on it. In many cases when you turn off a feature, you’re asked whether you want your device to keep a copy of your information stored in iCloud for that feature. You don’t need to keep a copy if you have other devices set up for the same feature, because your information is still available on them. For example, if your iPhone and iPad both have Contacts turned on, you can turn off Contacts on your iPad without keeping a copy of your iCloud contacts on it, and still access those contacts on your iPhone. If you turn Contacts on again on your iPad, your latest contact information reappears on it automatically.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

I have an I-Pad I purchased in March 2012. i also have an I-Phone 5 and an I-Pod. We are traveling to France and I would like to know how to charge my equipment their. I understand they have different plugs and run 220 vs 110. I see converter plugs but they don't reduce the voltage. Do I also need to reduce the voltage?
All Apple chargers work from 100-240VAC, 50-60Hz power. All you will need is a plug adapter for the country you are in.
FYI - You can use the iPad charger to charge your iPhone.
Cheers, Tom -
My iPad will not charge and every time I charge it. It comes up with the iTunes icon and I will not charge, it is not a new I pad and the same charger I use for the I pad I use for my I phone and it will charge. What is wrong?
What exactlyare you seeing on the iPad's screen ? If it's the iTunes icon and a cable then that means that it's gone into recovery mode - you will need to connect it to your computer's iTunes and you should be able to use that to reset it back to factory defaults and you can then restore/resync your content to it.

HT4623 My I pad does not have a software update tab, how can I update?
My I pad does not have a software update tab when you go to settings and general. Is there another way to update?
The Software update button was only added in iOS 5. If you have anythng less than that you will need to connect your iPad to a computer running the latest version of Itunes and update through there.
In the article you came from, scroll down to the section titled Update your device using iTunes. And follow those steps to update. -
Last weekend I went to the Apple store to replace my phone because the WiFi on my phone is nonfunctional. I need to back up to iCloud before I can replace my phone because I have information on there that needs to be saved. The worker at the Apple store said that, since I cannot connect to WiFi, I needed to plug my phone into my computer in order to back up. I went into iTunes and turned iCloud on, but my phone still will not back up to iCloud. So, I need to know exactly how to back up my iPhone to iCloud without WiFi?

should I restore from an old icloud back up from last month and see if my wifi comes on then?
Unfortunately, you can't restore an iCloud backup without using wifi so that isn't an option. -
My husband and I have upgraded our phones (iPhone 4s and iPhone 5) to the iPhone 5s. We have given 2 of our kids the "old" phones and want to set them up as an iPod touch. Both kids have email and need to be able to text (iMessage).
I have read multiple posts on how to do this and I am still confused.
Apple ID/ICoud:
We want to be able to monitor what they do, but do not want their devices linked to our emails/contacts/etc... Each kid has their own email account. So, from what I have read the best way to do this is to use our family Apple ID, but set them up with a separate iCloud account? Is this correct?
Reset/Restore/DFU:
To start fresh we have done multiple factory resets. I did one that someone said was a DFU and a plan ol' factory reset, etc... Not sure the difference. However, when I do that I get the "hello" screen and am able to start setting the phone up anew. However, when I go to set the phone up as an iPod I end with the same result.
So, here is what I am doing (tell me what I am doing wrong):
Hello Screen
Asks me to select language and selecting: English
Select Your Country or Region: United States
Choose a Wi-Fi Network: select my home wi-fi network
Enter password: entered my home wi-fi network password
Activiate iPhone - wants me to enter Apple ID and Passwordsays that this iphone is currently linked to an Apple ID (k*******@gmail.com). Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPhone.
Location Services - I have enabled location services
Set Up iPhone
Set Up as New iPhone
Apple ID
Options are to sign in with your Apple ID or Create a Free Apple ID
Or I could "skip this step"
I signed in with my Apple ID
Terms and Conditions - Agree
iCloud - I can select either to use iCloud or Don't Use iCloud - I selected use iCloud
Find My iPhone - I can select either to use find my iPhone or to not - I selected use find my iphone
Once I do this it says iMessage and FaceTime and shows the following:
my email
my other child's cell phone number
and my husband's work phone number
This is where things do not make sense. I only want the phone set up with the current child's email address. Where did I go wrong? There are a number of Apple services: iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud, Game center, Find My iPad, etc.
Now, to share apps, music and books you need to have the same Apple ID:
iPad's Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID > Your purchasing Apple ID.
For the other service, your wife should have her own Apple ID.
All she needs is a valid e-mail address, apply Apple ID below:
https://appleid.apple.com
Here's a limk with useful tips: Note: It's also valid in IOS 6

Regarding passport registration issues, I need to have a letter from you including both the old and new imei numbers. Could you please send me an email mentioning that I have changed the phones with the given imei numbers?
