I have been with Verizon for 15 years. I have a family share plan with 2 smart phones a standard phone and a jetpack for wireless access. I pay for insurance on the 2 smartphones. Approximately a year ago I made a payment arrangement to continue service on my account even though I had some business difficulties. I was told that while the arrangement was in place I could not make any changes to my account. However, since then I have had the following issues and when I try and contact Verizon to try and resolve them I am place on eternal hold or disconnected.
Issue #1: My daughter lost her phone in June 2014. (The contract on this phone was up in 2013) I have been told that I cannot replace the phone even though I pay the insurance premium of $9.95 a month. I have been billed for it and have also been charged $54.87 for the monthly service as well. The phone has not made or received a call since June 4, 2014 yet I have been charged $274.38 I just was able to have the service suspended at the store today, 11/29/2014
Issue #2 My phone has intermittent flaws, locking up and reuring rests, dropping calls, failing to receive calls etc along with horrible battery life. I went into the local verizon store and they ordered me a refurbished replacement phone which was subsequently sent to me. When I received it I took it to the store to have them assist me in setting it up properly. I was told that I should NOT set it up but send it back due to some physical damage present on my old phone that would most likely result in a $150 charge...it was recommended that I just upgrade my phones as they were all out of contract and that would be the best solution. I asked the manager if that would be possible due to the "terms" on my account and she said "it would not be a problem". I was interested in an Iphone 6 which was not in stock so I sent the replacement phone back and left, to wait for the phone to become available.
Issue #3 I had a JetPack that was recently stolen from my car. I stopped in to ask what to do about it (it is no longer under contract either) They suspended the service and recomended I wait until I upgraded my other phones and then get a new Jet Pack. I just received noticed that they were going to continue billing me for it this week, even though it has been out of contract for several months??????
I recently went to Best Buy to take advantage of their Black Friday deals and was told that based on the status of my account I was ineligible for any upgrades. We called Verizon from the Best Buy and they told me that I needed to address my account status (I just made the scheduled payment on the 23rd of Nov) either with Financial Services or go to a Corporate Store. I went to the store and was told there was nothing that could be done at that level, I would need to talk to financial services (which was closed)
So, I am extremely frustrated and upset with this whole situation and wanted to make one more attempt to resolve it with Verizon before I make a full blown complaint to the Attorney Generals Office, the Better Business Bureau as well as post this incredibly BAD customer service story on social media. I hope that I hear from someone ASAP as this is critical that I get things resolved immediately. I can be reached at [removed].

First you have payment difficulty so credit and the Edge program are not available to you. You have to be credit worthy to get any upgrade, unless you can pay full price for all those new devices.

You are trying to get new contract plans, but since you are having paying on time and in full issues you will not get extended credit from any carrier.
What I would do is go and port out to Boost or Virgin Mobile where you pay a reduced cost for each device and get unlimited everything for $40 to $50 a month, it is pre pay so if you don't pay you get cut off.
Verizon although with the best coverage is also the highest priced.

Yes, under the Settings for the store, you can turn off the auto download for purchases, that way if you purchase an app on another device it will not automatically download on that device. You would need to do this on both your iPad and iPhone.

Screen cracked, Need to turn phone off completely.
Off course, less than a week after my boyfriend gets this phone, he drops it and the screen cracked. We DO have insurance, but have to wait a week till payday for the deductible. Here is my problem.
Screen is cracked, phone is still on. I need to turn it off, as the alarms he has set for work keep sounding and are a pain to stop, as he has multiple each day. I know I can wait for the battery to die, of of course, BUT
I've read that I can do what is comparable to a battery pull with the volume down + power button for 10 seconds. I have done this, but it seems to restart rather than turn off. Is this what that action should do? Or am I doing it wrong. I apologize for writing a book, but I think explaining the full story may possibly get me a correct answer. I hope that someone can give me some insight as to what is the problem with my MacBook Pro. I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2008), model identifier: MacBookPro4,1 running OSX Lion 10.7.5 with 6 GB memory. My wife first noticed a problem with the display. Every so often it would get fuzzy with jumping lines going across the screen making it vitually unviewable. The final time that incident took place the computer froze which required holding down the power button to restart the computer. The computer started up to the point of the Apple logo and the spinning gear for quite some time until the screen darkened from top to bottom displaying the following message in five different languages: "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again." I have read other blogs and support communities where people get the message intermittently, but my computer would not go past that point no matter what. Through research and the Apple Store I was told that this is a Kernel Panic. The so called "Apple Genius" at the local Apple Store was unable to get the computer to boot past that point even with his gadget. It would not startup in recovery mode, safe mode or off of a disc. I forget exacty what he told me, but he said it was getting past the first two startup steps, but it would not get past the third step which is to mount the desktop. He guessed that it may be a problem with the hard drive; a loose wire or something or other. I disconnected the hard drive completely and took it out. Everything appered to be connected properly. Then I installed it back correctly, but it did not solve the issue. So I guess I disproved his theory of a loose wire... I purchased ProSoft Data Rescue 3 and connected my MacBook Pro to another Apple computer using a firewire 400 cable. I was able to get everything I needed off of the hard drive. I did some more research and I decided to restart the MacBook Pro in verbose mode (holding down the command button and V button). The computer magically started up!!! I was upset that I wasted my money on the ProSoft Data Rescue 3. I managed to take additional items off of the computer and back it up on to an external hard drive. After some time the computer froze. I repeated the power button process to restart and received the same kernel panic. I managed to get the computer to startup approximately six or seven more times via verbose mode; each time the computer staying on for a shorter amount of time before it would freeze. I managed to run Disk Utitlity. I performed first aid to fix the hard drive and it said that the hard drive appeared to be fine. After first aid I erased the hard drive and booted off of a Lion disc to perform a clean install or an erase and install. Lion installed until the progress bar got the the end where I received a message that there was an error installing Lion, please try again. Each time I attempted to install the software I would receive the same message. Eventually the computer would not boot from the Lion disc. I went back to the Apple Store and the Apple Genius was able to get the computer to boot off of his gadget where Lion istalled completely. I set up the computer as a new computer. He said that he partitioned the hard drive as DOS and then back to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) which would get rid of any errors the drive may have had. He guessed that the problem was the hard drive, but was not exactly sure. When I brought it home I installed all of the software applications I had on it previously. Approximately three days later, which may have been the fifth of sixth time starting up the computer, the display became fuzzy again and the computer froze. The computer did restart once and I was able to retreive a "log" which I have pasted below. After if froze for the second time it restarted once using verbose mode and froze almost immediately. After holding down the power key to shut it down and then restart; I received the same kernel panic after the Apple logo and spinning gear which put me right back to square one. Now the computer will not boot via any method. It freezes at the end of verbose mode which forces you to hold down the power button to shut down. I also read that poorly seated ram may cause this issue, but I removed and installed the ram multiple times. I even purchased new ram from Other World Computing (Mac Sales) 6 GB, but that did not make a difference. I think I may see six possible problems on the verbose screen mode, five errors and one warning; I will type them out here:
1. SMC: :smcReadKeyAction ERROR: smcReadData8 failed for key $Num (kSMCKeyNotFound)

I was hoping that someone could read my log to ascertain wether or not they see a problem that stands out. I was also hoping that someone could tell me if verbose mode provides any information that may be wrong with my computer. I just hope that someone can give me some insight as to what may be wrong with my computer. If it is the hard drive I will easily replace it, but I want to make sure that is the problem first before I waste money on a hard drive or anything else. Please let me know if anyone requires any other information from me.

I also was well aware that Apple offered a replacement program that ended in December of 2012. I was going to add that in my original post, but I discounted that theory because I put my faith in the so called "Apple Genius" when I made my second trip to the Apple Store. I brought the NVIDIA card issue to his attention and asked him if he thought that may be the problem, but he said no. He said if it was the NVIDIA card that the screen would be completely black and there would be no startup chime. When I experienced the screen issues I thought it was a problem with the NVIDIA card or the logic board. I asked myself, how can a flawed hard drive cause the screen to act funny.

I was hoping there was a way I could wipe the hard drive before I dumped the computer or attempted to sell it. I guess I will look into purchasing a new machine when I have the funds. After updating iTunes to 11.4, non eof my device is recognised (iPhone4 , iPhone5, iPad3), iTunes comes with a message saying : "
You need to turn on synchronization in isync preferences before you can sync contacts and calendars"

I need help, yesterday I installed and reinstalled the Yosemite system and take long to turn on my laptop, the bar takes to fill, and I'm worried.
Can you help? thankrevert back to Maverick that is what I had to finally do. This was the worst upgrade I have ever seen. Hopefully you have Time Machine backup and can revert back. It was pretty painless except for a few issues. I will wait until Apple gets their stuff together on this upgrade or may never will.

when downloading large files such as videos of a television season do you need to turn off autolock to prevent download from halting? And if so, if the download will take a significant amount of time (not sure how much offhand) how do you prevent burn in from prolonged screen image?
Among the alternatives not mentioned... Using a TiVo DVR, rather than the X1; a Roamio Plus or Pro would solve both the concern over the quality of the DVR, as well as providing the MoCA bridge capability the poster so desperately wanted the X1 DVR to provide. (Although the TiVo's support only MoCA 1.1.) Just get a third-party MoCA adapter for the distant location. Why the hang-up on having a device provided by Comcast? This seems especially ironic given the opinions expressed regarding payments over time to Comcast. If a MoCA 2.0 bridge was the requirement, they don't exist outside providers. So couldn't the poster have simply requested a replacement XB3 from the local office and configured it down to only providing MoCA bridging -- and perhaps as a wireless access point? Comcast would bill him the monthly rate for the extra device, but such is the state of MoCA 2.0. Much of the OP sounds like frustration over devices providing capabilities the poster *thinks* they should have.

I can't find a definite answer anywhere regarding whether or not you need to turn the iPad mini off before charging. So my question is should I turn the iPad mini off or leave it on before charging? Thanks in advance.
I rarely if ever turn my iPad off. I charge it when the battery is low or at night while I'm sleeping. Even then I close the Smart Cover and let it sleep but I do not turn it off. It doesn't matter when you charge the iPad.
The most efficient way to charge the iPad is to use the charger that came with it and plug that into a known good wall outlet. -
Ok so I am having issues with charging my iPad as well. So I took advice from this forum and yes, if you turn the brightness down my iPad charges. Thanks Apple I just went and spent money on a new charger I didn't need. Really you need to fix this issue.

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.

When i upgraded my IOS. I always find it hard to continue my search in internet. I need to turn off the wifi connection then on it after wards even though using the laptops and other mobile phone with wifi have a very good signal. Just like this message, i need to off it then turn it on again.
Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod. -
Need to turn off iMessage for an iPhone that no longer works
My daughter broke her iPhone and the motherboard is fried. We got her an Android as a temporary phone until she is due for an upgrade in a few months. The problem is that when we try to text her on the new Andriod, on our iPhones (and any other iPhone that tries to text her) it still sends as an iMessage. Therefore she cannot receive any texts from us unless we turn off our iMessage (which causes us not to be able to receive other iMessages of course!). We went to the Sprint store, and they told us that we would need to turn off the iCloud for her phone, since Apple is recognizing it as still on and associated with her number. I cannot figure out how to do that since we can't access the phone settings. She is traveling this week alone with other family and I really need to be able to text her! She is 12. I appreciate any help.
This is an iPhone 4, with Sprint. We have 3 other iPhones, an iPod 4 and an iPad 2 on the same Apple ID account. We don't use the Cloud storage but I think the iCloud on the phone was turned on for a few things like Calendar.

She would have had to register the phone using her Apple ID/password.
Changing her Apple ID password is the only other way to fix this if you don't have access to the phone.
You can also "try" calling AppleCare. -
Remote App on iPad connects but drops after about 20 mins. Need to turn off wait about 1 minute, then turn on wifi on iMac before it can reconnect. Need some help please.

I got my artwork and saved it to my Desktop
Opened up Microsoft Paint and clicked on "File" and "Open" and found it to get it on the screen to resize it
Clicked "resize" and a box for changing it opened up
Checked the box "Pixels" and "Unchecked maintain aspect ratio"
Set Horizontal for 640 and Vertical for 480
Clicked on "OK" and went back to "File" and did a "Save As" and chose JPEG Picture
It came up "File Already Existed" and clicked "OK" (really did not care about the original artwork I found because wrong size)
Went to iTunes and on the movie right clicked on "Get Info", clicked on "Details", then "Artwork"
Go to the little box on the top left that shows your old artwork and click on it to get the little blue border to appear around it and hit "Delete" to make it gone
Click on "Add Artwork" and find it where you put the one from above on your Desktop and hit "Open" and OK and your new artwork is now there and all good.
Sounds like a lot of steps to follow but after around 5 or so you will fly through it. This worked perfect on my iPhone 6 Plus and I have artwork on my Home Videos now. -
What a ding dong, I put my entire question in the subject line. First time user, sorry. My husband purchased desk top Mac, and without importing anything via USB cord, it automatically is picking up my itunes library. He closed out, and signed in with his user id and password, and it still will only pick up mine. Someone told me it is because I have turned on "share wifi" in my itunes account, and need to turn that off first, but cannot figure out how to do it. Any suggestions?
You either have an incredibly complex computer setup or I think you are confusing terminology here. If you have iTunes set to share your library with others in your iTunes preferences then other computers in the area will see it as an item when they are running their iTunes and have it set to check for shared libraries. Your husband is probably seeing this when running iTunes on his computer. You can disable this sharing on your computer and/or he can set his not to pick up shared libraries.
By the way, an iTunes account is something you log into when you want to buy something from Apple. On your computer it is simply your iTunes collection or your iTunes application. So you need to turn off sharing in your iTunes application preferences.
Your husband is seeing "his" iTunes collection when running iTunes, but it is possible he doesn't have anything in it if it is a brand new computer.
