DO NOT BUY IPODS FROM FUTURESHOP OR BEST BUY

The warranty policy for both are ridiculous. They charge the same amount as Apple does. Get this, they don't even touch any ipods that need service for the first year. On top of that, any repairs that are made to the IPOD after the one year manufacturer's warranty will end once the IPOD is replaced once. They do not repair IPODs they simply have you pay $60-90 for a warranty that they hope you never use. You are better off getting the Apple Protection Plan for the same amount, and it covers 2 years and the warranty is transferred to any new IPODs for the remainder of the protection plan.

You must've had a great sales man.

- instant exchanges for the first 30 days at least (I bet my local store would go way beyond that)
- they will repair or replace the item while the apple warranty is in effect as many times as needed (and if I'm not happy there is a chance they will simply exchange for a new one)
- after the first year, they will replace the ipod once if needed "
1) You have no chance at returning anything at Best Buy after 30 days. At any of the stores I've worked at they are super d*cks about returns. Best Buy is EXTREMELY competitive and hate margin loss (returns).
2) Each time BBY has to repair something it will take at least 30 days (and up to 2 months during the holiday season). Think about that. If you have three problems with the iPod that's going to be a third of the year you're not eve going to have the thing. Also, they don't care if you're satisfied or not with the iPod. If a Geek Squad rep. sees that it works he'll make you take it back. Only the forth time you bring an item in for service will you get a new one (lemon law).
3. Going back to the service issue -- After you bring an item in to be fixed after the manuf. warranty is up, you only have one chance to get it fixed. It takes 4 chances to get a new (service) item.
Like I stated before -- if you buy any other type of MP3 player (other than an Apple based one) at BBY you won't have to deal with that whole service issue. Stick to Apple Care my friend.

    I would imagine the drivers supplied with the printer will not be compatible with your existing operating system.
    Download the older drivers for your OS here, and then try the install again.

  • Defect in aluminum? no help from Apple or Best Buy

    So I am the owner of a new MacBook Pro 15" rig, purchased on Oct 19 online from Best Buy, picked it up at local store. Noticed a small defect in the aluminum case next to the power button. At first did not seem like a big deal, but the more I looked at it, and considering what I spent, I thought it should be looked at. I took it back to the Best Buy store and was told by Geek Squad guy that it appeared that something underneath was pushing up. He then said because I was (7 days) beyond their 14-day exchange/return policy, that there was nothing they could do for me, and that I had to call Apple.
    I called Apple and after being handed off from two other CSRs, was inbformed by the third CSR that becuase the defect was not something that was affecting the performance or operation of the machine, there was NOTHING THEY COULD DO either. She said that I could take it to a repair center and pay for a new case, but because the repair guys would be replacing a part, that my warranty woud be voided. Hmmm...I spent over $1800.00 on this less than a month ago and expect to have the unit for many, many years. This is a glaring example of VERY POOR SERVICE. I can live with the cosmetic defect, but the customer service that I have so far received from Best Buy (not surprising) and Apple (who claims "award winning service") makes me think twice about what and where I will purchase in the future.
    If anyone from Apple is monitoring this blog, maybe you can intervene here and win me back!

With that said, I do apologize for any confusion you’ve endured if you’re not seeing points for both the reviews, as well as the Get $10 promotion.
    Both of these promotions usually take up to 20 days for the points to appear on your account. Shadow of Mordor came out 9/30, so it may be a few days yet before you’ll see those points. In regards to the product reviews, there are a few reasons you may not see your points, aside from the fact that it can also take up to 20 days. First, the review must be approved and published to receive the points. Also, a maximum of 8 reviews (total 200 points) will be awarded per calendar year per member. Lastly, your My Best Buy membership does need to be attached to your BestBuy.com account to receive the points.
    I’m hoping these details help clear up why you’re not seeing any points yet in these two instances! Please don’t hesitate to send me a private message if you’re not seeing the 500 points from your Shadow of Mordor pre-order after 20 days of having picked up your copy, or it being shipped.

  • Could not download Lion from App store after buying it... Forbiden

    I even went into an Apple store to try to get it installed today using their internet, but all I got is the same error message. Teething problems or something more serious??? Hmm
    No doubt Apple will sort it out before long, but maybe they should have also kept the old disc option too, at least until all the OS downloading problems are fixed, 2nd Lion release / update? It's a new way of getting the OS, & maybe this option is not good enough yet.

  • Anyone buy their iPhone 4 at Best Buy AND get their protection plan?

    Well I did but I cancelled the protection plan (which was $15 a month) once I got the bumper case from Apple.
    After I cancelled the plan they emailed me and called me asking if I wanted to renew. Well, I did plan on renewing it it in the future because the $15 a month was a little steep for me at the time.
    Well last night I went and celebrated the annual zombie crawl in my city and I hooked up my iphone to a dock to play music. Unfortunately it didn't fit with the bumper on so I took it off, boom 5 minutes later it falls out and the front screen is cracked.
    Well I'm looking for some way to replace it and I wonder if I can still renew my plan lol, but I assume I have to go in store and have my iPhone on hand. Paying a $15 fee for 30 days of protection would be nice lol. Otherwise I guess I'm forced to buy it outright for normal retail price?

    You could also look at getting it repaired locally or repaired out of warranty by Apple. It would be cheaper than buying a new phone outright.

    My name is Paulo {edited per forum guidelines}, I am current a Elite Plus customer for more than 1 year now. Somehow, some mess up with my log in since BEstBUY changed the credit card companies from Capital One to Citi. It’s been 2 more than 2 months nobody I am for real NOBODY can help me, nobody seems to care enough, NOBODY from the SPECIAL customer service from Elite Plus could helped. It is a shame and embarrassed from such company do that. If you do not have, enough professionals do be a customer service what is the point to have them?
    I encourage you take you business to another store. Best buys for me SUCKS. 2 Months to change a password it not acceptable. More than 2 months I cannot log in to my account, I cannot use my points either. 
    I think this is the new generation, once you buy something they give all the attention as needed, once you have a problem, they turn your back on you. With rude customer service people, with customer service that cannot help you at all for more than 2 months.

Are you referring to a BestBuy.com account and My Best Buy membership, or to a My Best Buy credit card or My Best Buy MasterCard? If a BestBuy.com account + My Best Buy membership, then I'd be glad to see what can be done to assist you. Otherwise, you will need to contact Citibank directly for assistance in accessing their online account management site -- we do not have visibility or direct access to Citi account details.

  • Best Buy did not honor my preorder for Smash Bros Bundle.

    I would like to place a simple complaint. A little more than a month ago, I placed an in-store preorder for the Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U Bundle, which included (1) Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U game, (1) GameCube Adapter for the Wii U, and (1) GameCube Controller. 
    I asked MULTIPLE times if the bundle will be available on release day, which was 11/21/2014. I asked store clerks AND customer service representatives and EVERYONE I asked said it will be available. I could have ordered from GameStop or Amazon but I decided to order from Best Buy because I trusted this store. 
    However, on 11/21, I went into the store and asked for my preorder. I paid the FULL $100+tax amount during the preorder. The customer representatives said they didn't have any and a manager came and told me that they will look for the inventory, and I should be able to get one. No problem, I thought, because I saw TWO bundles on the shelves right in front of me for online preorders. 
    I wait right there for FORTY FIVE (45) minutes. A complete waste of time and I was getting impatient but I was still as nice as I could be. They come back and tell me that they're sold out. WHAT? How can they be sold out if I see TWO bundles right in front of my eyes? I ask them if I can just have one of those two bundles. They said no, they're for online preorders. This is what I don't get. I literally paid the exact same amount. I waited in the store for 45 minutes just to be told that I am not allowed to take one of the bundles on the shelves. Why do online orders have a complete reservation? Why can't I, someone who ordered in-store AND paid the ENTIRE amount, get a reservation like that? I paid the same amount, went through the same process, and I even waited an extra 45 minutes, and they tell me I can't have it. If I ran a store, I would rather give the product to someone who is ALREADY agitated and someone who ALREADY waited 45 minutes. I would be MUCH less upset if there were no bundles at all in the store, and I was able to leave after 1 minute. It is MUCH less upsetting to see that bundles are sold out, rather than staring at TWO BUNDLES RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES and NOT being able to have any. 
    Well, how do I proceed? They tell me they can refund my entire order, and give me a $10 discount on the game alone for my troubles. I thought, well, that's the same discount as the bundle itself, so it shouldn't be a problem. Right? That's what I thought too. I bought the game and walked out of the store, still annoyed but satisfied that I can just go back, play the game, and buy the adapter and controller later. In fact, why don't I just buy it right now? Best Buy ran out of GameCube Adapters before I even left the store. So I had to go somewhere else for it. 
    To my dismay, I could not find the adapter anywhere. Not online, not in GameStop, not in Best Buy, nowhere. And not having the adapter has SERIOUSLY crippled my enjoyment for this game because I was COUNTING on having an adapter. I PAID for an adapter. I WANT my adapter. But I don't have one. And they are sold out everywhere. Sources say that adapters will not be available for at least a few months. MONTHS. I have to wait MONTHS for something that I ALREADY PAID FOR and something that I WAS PROMISED TO GET on 11/21/2014, NOT 2015. 
    SO, I would like to just place this complaint here. If I preorder something, I COMPLETELY expect to get it the day of release. I do not care about a $10 discount. I can give that $10 back if you want. I care about having a gamecube adapter that does not cost $100 online. So, Best Buy, where is my gamecube adapter?

  • Best Buy PC App will not install or repair.

    Hey, sorry for this, but upon buying a PC game, the Best Buy PC app will not install. At first it went through the install wizard and all, but it wasnt installed anywhere on my computer. Then: After following the advice of a bestbuy online representitive, I searched my c drive and deleted all information and tried to re-install. Now instead of the "Install Now" option, there is the "repair". Upon selectring repair,  it says "Source file not found .... verify that the file exists and you can access it". I've tried all night to get this up an runnning. I've contacted customer service 6 times and am either told they dont know what to do, or I am put on hold for 45 minutes. If anyone has any solution, it would be much appreciated. Thanks again for your time.

    Welcome to the forum and thanks for letting us know you are having trouble with your PC App. Usually the "street name invalid" issue arises when there is a login disconnet. Try this:
    Log in to your account on Bestbuy.com
    Click "My Account"
    Click "Password"
    Change password
    Log into PC App using new Password

    For me? Buying from best buy was my only option since the closest apple store is over an hour away. (and technically in another state)
    Also, when I bought my iPod the warranty that Best Buy offered was far more comprehensive than Apple Care with accidental damage protection for up to 3 years.
    And, when my iPad's charging port messed up, I took it into Best Buy and they swapped me out for a new one while at an Apple store I likely would have gotten a refurb.
    When I swapped out my iPod 4 for my iPod 5 I took it into best buy, got $70 towards the purchase of the new device by trading in the old one.
    Best Buy isn't perfect and not every store is a good one, but they are a good alternative or other option to explore for those buying devices.
    I think my biggest beef when buying my iPad and later iPod at Best Buy is when I bought my iPad I bought the screen protector and they wanted to charge me to apply it...and it kinda rankled for me to be plunking down over $600 dollars to have them want to charge me $15 for a screen protector install.

    I just bought the Zen Vision: M 30 gig MP3 player from Best Buy and after putting in the CD and downloading everything to my computer Im having quite a bit of trouble.
    Ive had an iPod for the past few years so i've become accustomed to it and cant seem to figure this whole Zen thing out..
    What im having trouble with is moving songs I have in mp3 format from my computer to the Zen...
    After downloading everything off of the CD that came with it I have 5 new desktop icons
    -ZENcast Organizer
    -Best Buy Rhapsody
    -Audible Manager
    -Creative Product Registration
    -ZEN Vision M Series Media Explorer
    I registered the product and everything and then the instructions said to connect the ZEN and hen open up ZEN Vision: M Media Explorer... and then click browse media and then simply drag and drop them to get them into the ZEN...
    So I found my music and everything and then here is where I am stuck...
    Im assuming that I drag and drop them into the Best Buy Rhapsody program and then from there it should work like an iPod... right?
    The problem is that every time I open the Best Buy Rhapsody program I keep getting an one of those error messages ... it looks like this:

    It has something to do with RealNetworks Rhapsody ... whatever that is..
    So I click "dont send" obviously and then the program shuts down..
    All of the other programs that I installed don't seem to be able to move files from my computer into the Zen so I guess my question is this: Are there any other ways to get music/videos/anything else from my computer to the Zen without using the Best Buy Rhapsody since that seems to not want to work?
    It seems like there should be another way to import music onto the Zen besides the Best Buy Rhapsody.. i mean, Best Buy isnt the only store that sells these things I dont think so how does anyone else do it's?

  • Best Buy Geek Squad TV Warranty is Terriblw!

    I'm in my third week of waiting and I still don't have my TV repaired! What a frustrating experience! I called Best Buy Geek Squad 17 days ago to report that my TV stopped working. I had purchased the repair warranty so I assumed I could get it fixed in a timely manner. Wrong. I had to call every single day the first week just to try and get a service date. Finally a repair service agreed to come out but cancelled without reason the same day. I talked to many Geek Squad personnel and was constantly transferred so many times to other people. Each time they expressed concern that my problem was not being handled but then promptly transferred me to someone else. On at least three occasions I was promised that someone would call me back to schedule service. None of those promises were kept. No calls were returned. In the second week I finally got a repairman to stop by the house. He told me he wasn't authorized to fix the TV, but rather had to figure out the problem and report back to Best Buy. He narrowed the problem down to three different components and left. I received a call from someone at Best Buy who told me that they were assigned to assist me through this process. It's been ten days and I haven't heard back from this person. My repairs were apparently approved at some point and I'm still waiting for replacement parts. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau but was told by Best Buy that they couldn't do anything, such as replace the TV, for at least 30 days. So I'm in week three and still waiting!
    I had this problem one other time and after weeks of scheduled repair appointments where the service personnel failed to show on at least three occasions Best Buy finally sent me a gift card to replace the TV. I should have learned from that experience. Now it's happened a second time! I've spent thousands of dollars over the years on TVs, computer systems, and electronics at Best Buy. I can assure you that after this experience my family and I will shop elsewhere for our electronic needs! I'm very disappointed!

    I can’t even begin to count how many shows I watch on my days off from work. Because of this, I know I’d be frustrated too if I went without my TV for a long period of time, especially if a repair took longer than anticipated.  While rare, repair delays do occur and are usually due to part delays or technician availability. It seems though that there may be other issues in play though. I’m sad to hear that your TV repair hasn’t progressed as smoothly as we would’ve hoped, and I am sorry for any aggravation this has caused.
    When one of our customers is underneath a Geek Squad Protection plan and a repair is necessary, we ask them to set up a service claim with us by either calling 1-800-GeekSquad or by scheduling an appointment online. There are times though when our Geek Squad agents are unavailable for certain areas, and our third party team takes over the repair to assist.  Upon review of your work order using your email address on the forum, I’ve found your repair is currently processing through one of these third party teams.
    However, the quality of service should still stay the same no matter who is repairing your television. As we want to ensure that your television repair progresses as smoothly as possible from here, I’ve contacted Matt from our Special Forces team who handles situations likes yours. As your repair time is longer than normal, I understand he has reached out to you to discuss this further.
    Please know that I will keep my case open with you and watch its progress as Matt and I are working together to resolve this.   • Best Buy restrictions are ridiculous

    I recently ordered a Gateway computer online.  It was to be delivered by UPS. Tracked my order, saw it would be delivered 2/10/14.  I work 8-5, went home on my lunch break to see if package had been delivered. Had a note from UPS stating they attempted delivery and I was not home. Would try again the following day between 10:30 and 2. Did not have any indication on the note as to WHY they could not deliver (i.e. signature required, payment requested, etc) Obviously, since I work, I was again not going to be home to receive my package. So I called the UPS customer service number to see if I could arrange to pick up my computer at their Customer Care location. The gentlemen politely informed me that no, I could not do that, as the seller (Best Buy) had restrictions on delivery.  Basically, UPS could not change anything about the delivery.  What does Best Buy expect those of us who have 8-5 jobs, and therefore are unable to wait at home for delivery of our purchase?? No where in my tracking info or order description does it say anything about me having to be home to receive delivery. I can understand that Best Buy may require a signature for delivery. That is perfectly fine. But why can I not physically go to the UPS location and sign for my purchase? This is ridiculous, and if this policy is not changed I will not be a repeat customer. As it is, I was able to get an "estimated" time of delivery, so I will take off in the hopes of catching the UPS man. If not, I do not know what I am going to do.

    Welcome to the forum. As a person who works outside the home, I can completely understand your frustration at not being able to make arrangements with UPS to pick up your computer. While I wouldn’t want a big investment like that left at my doorstep, I also can’t leave my work at any time to go home to wait for UPS to arrive, so I’m very sorry you had such a hard time getting your order.  
    Using the e-mail you registered on the forum, I was able to locate the order, and was glad to see that you did finally did receive it.  I am unaware of any restriction that does not allow you to pick up your package at a UPS Customer Care location, but I do appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and I assure you I will be documenting your comments to forward to our internal teams to look into this further.
