Dock icon update current date without having iCal running?

Hello, minor thing - I typically leave my computer on all the time. I don't use iCal too often but I have the icon in the dock. I am wondering if there is a way to have the dock icon update without launching iCal? It would be nice that the current date is displayed when I view the dock. I guess I could schedule iCal to be launched and then quit once a day. I don't know, any suggestions?

How do I set up a .pdf form to save filled data without having to print the form? I have provided my clients a lifecycle .pdf form they can use to record data for unique client meetings. They want the ability to save their completed data whenever they use the form under a unique file name. I've told them the only way I know how to do this is to print the completed form as a .pdf document and then save it.
Is their a way to save the data to a unique file name without printing the filled form?
Is there a way to reset the form with blank fields after saving? or to add a clear fields button?

If you reader extend a pdf using livecycle reader extensions then you can save the filled in data - this is true if you are using Adobe reader to view the PDF's. If you open it in Acrobat then the functionality is already there.

Getting current date without using client's clock

Is there a way to get the current date without using client's clock?
The java application we developed has many windows on which the Current Date is an important display field. As it's used 24x7, we need to make sure the date is current.
Right now, we make a CORBA service call to get the date from the server everytime the user Resets any of these windows. This is causing a peformance issue due to the slow service call.
Is it possible to get the Date once from the server and then start a timer to derive the date thereafter. Will a change in the client's clock affect this logic ? Can we implement this without using client's system time.
Or is there another better way ?

If I can summarize your current requirements:
1. You need to know the time.
2. You don't trust the client's clock so you want to get the time from another computer.
3. You want this access to be "not too slow".
I find requirement number 2 to be peculiar, I've never seen an application that doesn't accept the time on the client system as valid. However, there it is. Maybe it's a system for checking employees in and out, and the smarter ones have been faking out the system by changing the clock. If your CORBA connection is too slow, and NTP is too slow (it takes the little program I got from USNO about 3 seconds to synchronize my clock), why not write your own time server? A simple web server that returns only the time to any request would work. If that's not fast enough then I'd suggest you're out of luck.

Try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod
If you still have the the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Leopard update ical dock not keeping current date

since the update last week, the dock icon has stopped keeping the current date. the first day I noticed it stopped updating I did a kill dock. stayed on that day.
I removed it from the dock, then re-added it, keeps that date.
anyone else, is this a know issue?

go to the dock, trash the ical icon there, then go to the applications folder, and drag a fresh ical icon to the dock.
also would be a good idea to do a software update before that if your the OS in your profile is correct

The date? I don't see any date in the dock. Try clicking on the icon while holding down the command key and see if you can drag it out of the Dock. Drag until you get a puff of smoke. Then go to your Applications folder and drag the application back into the Dock.

Update current date in mysql using Update form DW CS4 PHP

I have a field called datePosted that is set to curdate in the database. What I want to do is when the checkbox on this form called approved is checked, and the form is submitted, I want that dateApproved field to update to the current date in the database. When I have tried it, it says zero. I have tried setting a variable and using now() but cant get it to change on update.

What that does is check whether the approved checkbox has been selected. If it has, $_POST['approved'] is set to 1 (true); if not, it's set to 0 (false).
In the GetSQLValueString() function, the value is set to NOW() if the checkbox has been selected. Otherwise, the existing value in the approved column is reassigned.

Why doesn't the dock icon update after I update my apps?

When I have app updates available, the dock icon shows the number pending. After I perform the updates via the App Store, the dock icon still shows the previous number. Even after a week!

I don't have any problem with the actual update process: it works like a charm on both my Mac Pro and my MacBook Pro. Being able to install my purchased apps on both computers is great, and the App Store applications on the two computers always know what has been updated on each. It's just that darned Dock icon! Here's hoping that the bug gets fixed sooner rather than later.

I was wondering if there is a way to create a template that you can upload music, pictures,and videos to that will automatically upload to a server without having website software. Reason: I am making a website that I would like to be accesible without me having to upload all the above on a regular basis, just the owner of the website.

Sounds to me as if you might like to have a look at Wordpress.
Find a theme, add your modifications and then show the owner how to use Wordpress.

How do I install Archlinux if I need to install ipw2200-fw ( modem firmware ) to be able to connect to my wireless network ?
Modem driver is already loaded, but I can not connect to any networks without having it's firmware installed.

Why ... dock icons no longer display lights below most running apps

and there is no op-tion to quit a running app in right-click dock menu. Dock icons for some of the running apps have lights, but quitting the app from the dock is initially unsuccessful. Icon either initially, or after quitting the app disiplays 'force qut', which, when clicked, doesn't work, either. Left-clicking the icon (thats the 3rd click) finaly kills the app and removes the icon from the dock.

Command + Q is the quickest way to quit a running Application. Click its icon in the Dock to give it focus, then press Command Q keys and its gone. No need to mess about with right clicking and selecting.
