Document library limitation for a single site

Hi Friends,
How many document library I am able to create within a single site.
My requirement is to create a 400 document library within a single site and each document library I need to place a 5000 document.
anyone having any idea. Please share!

Hi Mohd,
As far as I know, the limitations for the amount of document libraries in a single site are governed by the Site itself which is constrained by content database limits. A site can be as large as the content database size limit for the site
collection usage scenario and a site collection can be as large as the content database size limit for the applicable usage scenario. In general, we strongly recommend limiting the size of site collections to 100 GB.

Actually what I am trying to achieve is the two things.
1) By using only the user's name, need to upload/download from/to the document library of SharePoint online site using the CSOM. (i.e., achieving Single Sign On / Windows Authentication)
2) I need to achieve the above only by passing the document URL; not by hardcording/ configuring the document library name in the windows application.
Can anyone pls help on this now?

How to set Compatibility Mode for a single site in ie10

I am having problem with getting ie10 to set ie9 compatibility for a single site (sharepoint.contoso.com).
When I add this website in Compatibility View Settings (Alt > Tools > Compatibility View Settings > 'Add this Website') it adds the domain 'contoso.com' and not the individual website (sharepoint.contoso.com).
This cause other sites (www.contoso.com) to be configured to use compatibility mode. Because this is a separate site (different web server) to the site sharepoint.contoso.com (sharepoint 2010 server) we need different compatibility settings.
Using a different example to explain the issue -
Microsoft has three websites that are different websites created by different developers written in different programming languages and they only work with certain browsers.
microsoft.com (Website1 created by Developer1) - compatible with ie8/ie9/ie10
msdn.microsoft.com (Website2 created by Developer2) - compatible with ie8/ie9
technet.microsoft.com (Website3 website created by Developer3) - compatible only with ie10
The only thing the three website share is the URL contains 'microsoft.com'.
Marking 'msdn.microsoft.com' to run in compatibility mode affects the other 2 websites - mainly technet.microsoft.com which will not work now since it only runs in pure ie10 mode.
Should you be able to add an individual site to the compatibility list instead of all sites that have .microsoft.com in the URL? Am I missing a simple setting in the ie10?
As a workaround I am using the F12 Developer Tools to set the Browser Mode which temporary sets the compatibility mode. However this is not a nice solution to the end users at our organisation.

Oh! I wrote it wrong: I should have said: This is not solved for NON-AD environments. No demands what so ever to use Window 7/8 professional in a small corporation or on a big corporation with Island of smaller departments for example offshore.
The problem is that the thread is not "Answered" by the OP, its is marked answered by a moderator (and same moderator that did the answer) so no way of telling if the OP is satisfied.
But you are right in the fact that I am almost kidnapping the thread. But a complete answer would benefit all in this case I would presume.

How do I un-block popups just for a single site?

So in every other browser I use (I use all the big ones for testing -- Chrome, I.E., Firefox -- because I do web-development work) I can enable pop-ups for a single site (or a list of sites) without disabling the pop-up blocker entirely.
However, in Safari (version 7.0.3 on a MacBook Air running OS X 10.9.2) the only option I see in the Preferences window enables pop-up blocking for all sites, or none of them -- there is no way to allow pop-ups from a single site, or a list of sites.
How do I do this?

Settings > Safari > Block Popups
Turn it on to block all Popups or turn it off to allow Popups. You cannot block or allow Popups on a site specific basis.

Yes, that can be done. But note that all administrators will have the same right to print, so you need to make sure the users are not administrators. You can include a macro to disable printing, but if the users disable macro, they can print the documents.
Hence, there is no foolproof way to prevent printing documents. If you still need a foolproof security, PDF format provides password based security (viewing doesn't require a password) that can be implemented to prevent the document from printing,
which doesn't require any special scripts and is tough.

Document Library limitation

In my organization the limit for our document library is 5000 items. Is it something that is hard set by share point or it is a setting by our admin. What are the risks of expanding the number beyond 5000 item? what are the actual limits?

Normally that's why Microsoft Best Practices tells about capacity planning. You can store more than 5000, but when you are going to view them in Default
View, Even you see 30 items (by default) in view settings. SharePoint will Query through all 5000+ items to give you that 30 items. which is a additional load to the server.<o:p></o:p>
To restrict that, SharePoint itself give you the 5000 limitation which you can change from Central Administration under List Throttling settings in
Web Application General Settings. <o:p></o:p>
but it will solve your problem temporary. once you reach that number, you will have same issue. <o:p></o:p>
what you can do is based on the usage of List you can create Multiple Views which can filter your items less than 2000 ( 2000 is recommended value
by Microsoft per view)<o:p></o:p>
it will save your server performance, same time you can identify few columns which you can make indexed columns (columns you will use to create filters)<o:p></o:p>
let users to use newly created views instead of giving default view<o:p></o:p>

Created column not showing in the Document Library View for a Custom Content Type based on Document

We have a custom content type based of Document Content Type. The OOTB "Created" column does not show up in the view as well as in the Site Settings -> Columns.
But it shows up in the Display Form and Edit Form of the Item at the bottom "Created at " by " " and "Modified by" at by ""
Would anyone know how to make this column appear as part of the view ?

Hi,
They should by default be possible to add to a view. The only reason they would disappear from the UI if someone has changed the attribute of the Field to hidden = true. You can verify that with PowerShell and if so you can use PowerShell to revert the setting
to false.

File storage limits for a web site hosted on Business Catalyst

Hi,
I have three sites currently hosted by other web hosting companies. Each site uses a lot of video files so the site folder size for each site is approximately 10 GB. What business catalyst plan would I need to host three sites each of approximately 10 GB each. Also, I am getting ready to transition to HTML5 video which will mean adding additional video files. Is Business Catalyst capable of handling and presenting video files?

If you are uploading alot of video it maybe better to 'add in' a seperate system eg viddler. This can link nicely to BC and is better suited to video.

Why isn't my SharePoint online document library showing anything in the Title column for PDFs I upload?

I've got a document library on my SharePoint Online site. I've enabled the Title column in the library view. When I upload Word documents, the title I entered into the document properties list (Word 2010, File > Info > Properties list > Title) appears
in the Title column of my library in SharePoint. But when I upload the published PDF version (created from the same Word file using Word 2010 by File > Save As) to the library, there's nothing in the Title column. Why? Is SharePoint failing to read the
metadata of the PDF file? Is Word 2010 failing to copy the metadata into the PDF file when it's created from the Word file?
What's going wrong and how do I fix it?
When answering, please keep in mind that I'm a SharePoint novice.

I think I've ruled out the possibility that Word isn't saving the Title property with the PDF when I convert to PDF using Word 2010's built-in Save As PDF command. I found a utility called Evermap AutoMetadata which shows all the metadata saved in a PDF
file and the Title field is indeed present in the PDF, with the correct value. Windows File Explorer won't show that property as present, but AutoMetadata does. It now looks like SharePoint isn't reading that field for some reason. Does anyone know why, and
what I should do about it?

Display a document library from the top site on a subsite

I want to display a document library located on the top site in a webpart located on a subsite.
I've found different solutions in 2010 but none of them have been possible to achive in 2013.
The only way that i've got it working in 2013 is described in
this Stackexchange-post, however this solution will give the webpart it's own ribbon inside of the webpart-frame.
Im wondering whether it's possible to achieve this in 2013 OOTB.

Depends, you could use the content search web part to dipslay the document lbirary, bit in that case the result is limited to what's already indexed.

Set the horizontal scroll bar for the OOTb document library view

hi all,
Am facing an issue in my sp portal.We have designed and developed the portal with OOTB document library views for site columns also. Going to enable the doc lib view. but we have some 35 columns in eeacha nd every document
library within our sub site. But if an end user wants to see the last column then he needs to scroll. but, since then my master page has fixed width, the top corner will be seen as blank. would like to know how can we set horizontal scrolling
in this doc lib view .

Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to set the horizontal scroll bar for the document library when the last column postion exceed the fixed width.
I suggest you can try to use Jquery to set the width attribute of the menu bar dynamically if the document library width exceeded. You can add the Jquery or CSS style using SharePoint Designer under the PlaceHolderMain tag of document
library page. Also, you need to find the div id in your environment using Internet Explorer.
