Does a Database Action on a button override the DML Values?

Greetings,
I would like to know if a Database Action on a button (SQL Insert/SQL Update/SQL Delete) overrides the DML Valid Insert/Update/Delete Request Values? My button request is 'GENERATE', and obviously, it is not in the valid update request values. It does carry a SQL UPDATE Action, though the update doesn't seem to happen as the form is reloaded without any changes.

I definitely didn't look carefully enough. The update was happening all along, I just had forgotten to reset a flag on my page, which so happened to screw over with the session state. Thus, no matter the request of a button, if you specify a Database Action on it, it will override the DML Valid Request Values rule. That's good to know.

Try System Preferences>Energy Saver>Options tab, uncheck Allow power button to sleep computer.
Some possible other options...
Control-Eject
The dialog box "Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now?" appears with options to Restart, Sleep, Cancel or Shut Down. After the dialog appears, press the R key to Restart, press the S key to Sleep, press the Esc key to Cancel, or press the Return key to Shut Down.

Need to find action behind Forward button in the notificationdetails page

When i enable the forward button in the workflow,the forward button apperas on the notification details page.
when i click about this page link,the button appears in the list.
But when i can take PG.xml code i dont find the forward button.
i have tried to trace how this forward button got embeded in the oa page but no luck.
i even checked the controller code as well.
does any one have any idea?

Does Pages 2 have a save button in the toolbar?

Anyone know if Pages 2.0 has a save button in the toolbar? Also, is there a button to show invisibles instead of a drop down menu? This is one of the most missed features. I couldn't tell from the images.

Just out of curiosity, could you describe how you use the Save button in AppleWorks?
Do you let go of the keyboard, move your hand to the mouse, move the cursor to the button and click it and then move the hand back to the keyboard, or do you usually have your hand on the mouse anyhow, so you just have to move the cursor and click? Or do you have some other trick?

Why does Enc2.0 change my text buttons to the Chapter pt labels after linking?

In Enc 1.5 and prior, I could import a MS AVI clip from PremPro with the chapter marks simply labeled "ch1. ch2." etc..., create a text frame on a new menu, convert the text to a button, and then pick whip the link to a chapter point on the timeline. Now the text box/button changes from whatever word I have to the "ch1" or "ch2" label instead.
I'm using a 30day trial version of Enc2.0 while I'm waiting on delivery of Production Studio package, so I don't have any documentation. Is there some default setting I need to change?

There's no preference to turn it off. It was intended to essentially shift workflow to naming chapters in PPro instead of buttons in Encore- then when you link the chapter to the button, it updates the button name and text layer.
If you'd rather not work that way, the workaround is to select all buttons in your menus (you can do this in the Menus tab), then uncheck that button. And send a feature request to Adobe for more control over this feature. :)

Override the attribute value for EO based VO

I have a VO attribute which is based on EO. This VO attribute value is dislayed as messageStyledText on the seeded page. This value is updated via the Seeded AM.
I want to make this messageStyledText as free form TextInput so i can enter the value for it. I dont want the AM calculating the value and displaying it.
How do i override this VO attribute value?

we do not want to calculate the value as user can enter any value as long as it is greater than the number of values in the VO's.
So the user can just enter 20 in the Textinput which means 20 people attended some class but they can enter only 10 people actually. So users dont have to enter all the information as sometimes it could be in hundreds like in conference. it is just for information purpose.
I want to use the value but not calculate it.
so am i doing right like mentioned in the previous thread?

How to set the default value of a database column to NULL

I want to set the default value of a column (VARCHAR2(20) to NULL, nut I cannot figure out to do this. I tried the following editing the offline table with JDeveloper:
Default Value : <empty> -> On database NULL
Default Value: '' -> On database ''
When I create a new column, there is no default value on the database side and when I open the tabe properties in the database navigator I can see that the default value is (null). This is what I want to see in the other column as well. I don't know why sometimes a default value is visible on the database side (when generating form offline tables to database tables) and sometimes not.
Perhaps sombody can bring some light in this issue.

I have the impression that you don't understand my problem. So here step by step:
1. Create a offline Table TEST with one column TEST: VARCHAR2(20). nullable=true, no default value.
2. Generate the table to the database
3. When you look at the table properties (columns) with the database navigator the following information is displayed (sorry for the formatting):
Column Name | Data Type | Nullable | Data Default | COLUMN ID| Primary Key | COMMENTS
TEST | VARCHAR2(20 BYTE | Yes | (null) | 1 | (null) | (null)
4. Now set the default value for the column TEST in the offline table for example to 'Test'
5. Generate the table to the database.
6. When you have a look at the database table, the default value is now 'Test' (as expected)
7. Now remove the default value of the column TEST in the offline table
8. Generate the table to the database
9. When you have a look at the database table, the default value is now NULL (in uppercase letters without parenthesis)
And this is where the problem starts!
When you generate the table again with the options "Alter/Manual Reconcile" the default value of the column test is considered to be different! But in fact it should'nt be different because nothing has been changed.

Override the GROUP system session variable within an initialization block

Hi,
We're trying to override the GROUP system session variable and having no luck. We've created an initialization block to return the semicolon-separated list we're looking for but when a user logs in, it seems like it is overridden with the default. When we change the name of the variable to something other than GROUP, it works great and we get the expected value. Is there something we're missing with overriding the particular value?
Here is the query we're attempting to use for the variable:
Select 'GROUP',
   ListAgg(OBI_ROLE, ';') Within Group (Order By USER_EMAIL)
From CSS_OBI_USER_ROLE
Where USER_EMAIL In (':USER')
We also tried:
Select
   ListAgg(OBI_ROLE, ';') Within Group (Order By USER_EMAIL)

Where USER_EMAIL In (':USER')
We made sure that the variable name was 'GROUP' as well.
Not sure if it's important to note or not, but the returned values do correspond to existing applications groups already defined within OBI.

Disabling a button based on attribute value

I have written a function in ViewObjectImpl. I need to call it on a specific condition,that is, if a particular value for an attribute doesn't exist in the table. How can I achieve this?

Hi,
There are couple ways to achieve this.
1. Enable the button only when there is a specific value exist in table.
You can write a method in your impl, that check if there are any matching rows in table and return true or false. Bind the disabled property to an attribute in your backing bean, execute the impl method in backing bean and let the property (which you bound to the disabled property of the button) hold the return value (true or false). Call this method appropriately based on your need.
2. Execute the method always and check the matching row in button.
In the impl method itself, you can check the table if the matching rows exist or not. If exists, then continue the execution of the method, else do nothing.

This would probably generate a HTML in which there will be a button inside anchor tag.
This is not a standard HTML feature and no wonder this is not supported by IE. I copied the generated html codes into test.html to try on IE, the button does not work at all.
Firefox is probably lenient here. True. test.html works in Firefox.
You might want to just have a link or do a form submission on button click.The action designed does not need an actionForm. I updated my code to :<html:button onclick="location.href='processSearch'"

And now both Firefox & IE works fine.

Why can't region item buttons perform database action?

Looking at my Easy Oracle HTML-DB book, page 211, the author states that a database action attribute is only available for a button in a region position.
Is it possible to 'force' a button created among a region's items to update the database (INSERT, UPDATE)?

You could make a custom procedure to fire when a button is clicked. Within your procedure you can update/delete/insert as you wish.

IPod calendar appointment setting freezes and does not accept Done or Cancel button action

I tried to make appointment within time frame on iPod touch, and set start/finish times, and pressed "done" on UR screen. It changed color but did not execute the appointment. I then pressed "cancel" to see if I could remove the appointment settings and return to the earlier screen. It changed color but did not execute the cancellation. I cannot return to the monthly page of the calendar. It does execute the "all day" setting on the rotary-style date wheel, and the all day slider does cancel itself when I slide the on/off key. Is my iPod touch starting to fail?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
