Does apple have virus software that pops up if your system gets a virus

Does apple have virus software that pops up if my computer detects a virus?

Apple does not pre install a/v software. There are NO Mac viruses but there is malware making it's way around the net.

  • Does Apple have a software life cycle plan showing support?

    Hi!
Something like http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifeselect and http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifecycle ... I cannot seem to find it. I was told that Mac OS X 10.5.8 is no longer going to be updated?
    Thank you in advance.

The thing that bugs me is not speed, but support. MS still supports XP (SP3) today and a couple more years. Apple seems to dump their softwares fast. :/
Actually, let's look at that, shall we?
XP went out of 'mainstream support' in April 2009. It's currently in 'extended' support for commercial (read: paying) customers. Are you paying Microsoft to support your XP system? Are you paying Apple to support your 10.4 system?
Furthermore, XP was available at retail until June 2008 - just 10 months before mainstream support expired. That's not so great. Even worse is the fact that XP was available to OEMs until October 2010, some 18 months after mainstream support expired. That's a winning combination if ever I heard one.
Yes, XP came out in 2001, so you could argue that it had 7 years of support, but it's not Apple's fault that there was a 6 year gap between XP and Vista, nor that Vista had such a poor uptake.
In fact, if you look at the official policy, Microsoft provide mainstream support for '2 years after the sucessor product is released'. Given that Apple, historically, have released OS updates every 18 months or so (give or take), and that they support the current and previous OS releases, you can see Apple have an 18 month policy while Microsoft has a 2 year policy. Not all that great a difference in the overall scheme of things.

  • Does Apple offer any software that will allow you to download and markup pdf documents

Are their any less expensive programs that one can use to markup a downloaded pdf document.  Adobe wants $399 for their programs

Preview does limited marking up, but that may or may not be printable or exportable to e-mail depending on how
well written the PDF document was.
You can export a PDF from Preview to TIFF or JPEG and edit with http://www.lemkesoft.com/ 's GraphicConverter.
You can always ask the publisher of the said PDF to offer a simple HTML editable form online.
There are services for many tax bureaus that offer online editing of one's taxes without ever having to buy Adobe Acrobat Pro.

  • Does Apple have any services that would fix a MB Pro?

Having just returned from the Genious Bar, they told me that the MB Pro I had accidentally damaged can be fixed (for $2000 -_-) and it would be more worth it to just purchase a new MB Pro entirely. Before I make any decisions, is there a service plan that would cover accidental damage to MB Pros? I'm 99% sure I know the answer, but I just want to make absolutely sure.
    Thanks.

Mine are listed on my household contents Insurance policy for any loss or damage around the home, or while being used elsewhere or in transit. It only costs a few dollars a year and is worth more than AppleCare IMHO.

  • What software does apple have to replace DVD Studio Pro

what software does apple have to replace DVD Studio Pro. have a new imac 27" late 2012 and after data transfer DVD Studio Pro does not work. What can I do? Would it be advisable to go back on the OS to a older vision OS Where DVD Studio Pro was working? Help!!!

Afraid they don't have anything to replace DVD SP. Your alternatives are Adobe Encore (which is EOL) or Toast, or IDVD (which can still be found in boxed sets of iLife).
But getting back to DVD SP and your data transfer, what do you mean by that? What exactly did you do and what happened with the application? I'm running it on 10.7 and it works, but it's from the FCS3 suite; is yours FCS2?.

but could not find a way to burn them to a DVD.
Do you want to create a video DVD that will plan on a TV set via a DVD player or just burn the video files to a data DVD disk for storage?
If the former the read the following:
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Softwareor eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
However, there are video DVD authoring apps that are available at the App Store that will create a video DVD disk.  They won't be as extensive as iDVD but can create a simple video DVD.
iDVD 7.1.2 is compatible with iDVD but we don't if it will be with the next system generation.

  • HT4623 I have an Iphone 3 that does not have the software updates how can I update it?

I have an IPhone 3 that does not have the software updates in my settings how can I update it cause I can not download any apps or games?

The 3G can not be upgraded beyond 4.2.1, but if the phone isn't there yet, see below.
The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

Also read the instructions from the section entitled "Update your device using iTunes" at the link below.

I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

  • What does Apple have that compares to Adobe flash player ?

What does Apple have that compares to Adobe Flash Player, I keep getting Blocked plugged message and it tells me to download Adobe Flash Player and when I do nothing happens.  Also when I purchased my iMac it came with Leopard osx system, last year I installed the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 system and since then cannot read CD's or DVD's from PC or my husbands new iMac with Mountain Lion system.

There is no equivalent to Adobe's Flash Player. You either have it installed or not. For the reasons outlined below, Apple no longer sell Macs with Flash Player pre-installed, you have to obtain it from Adobe.
    Flash - Apple's official position:
    http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/
    Flash v. HTML5
    http://www.streaminglearningcenter.com/articles/flash-player-cpu-hog-or-hot-tama le-it-depends-.html
Apple may have more reasons behind not installing Flash by default other than the stated reason of ensuring that users always have the most up-to-date version. Having Flash installed can cut battery runtime considerably—as much as 33 percent in our testing. With a handful of websites loaded in Safari, Flash-based ads kept the CPU running far more than seemed necessary, and the best time I recorded with Flash installed was just 4 hours. After deleting Flash, however, the MacBook Air ran for 6:02—with the exact same set of websites reloaded in Safari, and with static ads replacing the CPU-sucking Flash versions.

    And this:
    http://www.usatoday.com/tech/columnist/kimkomando/2011-02-18-changes-web_N.htm
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
