Having Max(sc.qualification_kind)>= All (select max(sc1.qualification_kind) from ta_scientific_certificate sc1 where sc1.user_id=u.user_id group by sc1.qualification_kind ) )as general_specialty

Selecting #of bits for data types in Java
hi,
i would like to know if we can constrain compiler on allocating memory to basic data types, such as int, float, short etc. i would like to read an exactly four byte integer into an int, 2 byte short into a short etc. i need to read these parameters exactly of their specified number of bytes - not more or less - as if i read anything more/less, i will be reading a part of other parameter.
i know that C allows us to do this by letting us to specify number of bits we like to allocate for each data type (for eg. unsigned int:16; means i need an unsigned int of exactly 16bits (2 bytes long) -no more and no less).
Is there anything similar i can do in Java?
any suggestion is greately appreciated.
Thanks,All primitive types in Java are well-defined. In contrast to C/C++, an int in Java is allways 32 bits, using one's complement, a char is allways 16 bits etc.
Java does not give you direct acces to physical memory - that would compromise the basic design of Java.
You can read individual bytes from files, and you can do all the integer arithmetic in Java as you can in C/C++. To convert eg. fout bytes to one int, you could do the following:
byte b1= (some byte value),
b2,
b3,
b4;
int i= (((b1 << 8) | b2 << 8) | b3 << 8) | b4;
b1 being the most significant byte, b4 being the least significant.

My keyboard does not type at all and the trackpad not working properly
Hello everyone,
Today I realised that my computer does not type any letters at all and everytime I try to write something the trackpad works only as if I was pressing the right button (two fingers). After a while the trackpad starts to work again as it should. I have noticed that the trackpad does this when I try to write something. Don't know what to do and this macbook air is quite new and I cannot surf on the internet, write essays and I cannot log in with my password. Sometimes the only letter that works is the "o" and the others do not show up and it makes a sound. I have realised that if I press some of the other letters it can also erase some of the text already there.
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards.It sounds like you have a stuck key or some other malfunction.

JTextfield input Date convert to java.sql.Date
Hi. I have a textfield for users to input date in 'dd/mm/yyyy' format and I would like to format this input into java.sql.Date to be stored into a database. How should I go about doing that ?
I did the following:
SimpleDateFormat formatDate = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/mm/yyyy");
java.util.Date invoiceDate = formatDate.parse(jTextField3.getText());
java.sql.Date sqlDate = new java.sql.Date(invoiceDate.getTime());and when I input into jTextField3 the value '28/05/2008' , I found in my database '2008-01-28'. January and May is a few months off and is totally not what I wanted.Hi you did you code perfect, but you need to change the pattern for formatting the Date
dd - date
mm - minute
yyyy - year
here you are parsing month as minute, so the output may wrong..!
If you need to format properly
please use the below pattern
{color:#0000ff}SimpleDateFormat formatDate = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy");{color} -
I want to write a utility class to generate a java source file (bean) from out of the metadata of a database table. the metadata returns the column type as a java.sql.Types constant (int value). now, i want to map these int values to Java classes. (e.g. Types.INT => java.lang.Integer). Is there already such a method in the API or do i have to write my own switch ... case Types.INT ... result = Integer.class ... method?
well, i wrote my own utility method to generate such beans:
* Convert SQL type code to corresponding Java class.
* @param sqlType One of java.sql.Types.xxx.
* @return Class that corresponds to the given type.
public static Class toClass(int sqlType) {

case Types.BIT :
case Types.BOOLEAN :
result = Boolean.class;

case Types.CHAR :
result = Character.class;

case Types.DATE :
case Types.TIMESTAMP :
result = java.util.Date.class;

case Types.DECIMAL :
case Types.DOUBLE :
case Types.FLOAT :

* Create a Java bean (source file) to map a database table. The class name is the table name, the bean

Does oracle keep all past sql's?
is there a view or table that contains all sql statments executed against the database?
latest ones as well as old ones...
does the view get truncated after db reboot?If by "all" you literally mean "all", no.
Depending on the version of Oracle (which you don't mention) as well as the edition and the management packs licensed, there is a good probability that all the SQL statements that have actually been executed for the past N days will be available in the AWR (Automatic Workload Repository) tables (where N is whatever you've configured your AWR retention to be). Depending on what you are trying to do, however, you may need to look at the ASH data as well.

Error while deploying a web service whose return type is java.util.Date
Hi
I have written a simple web service which takes in a date input (java.util.Date) and returns the same date back to the client.
public interface Ping extends Remote
* A simple method that pings the server to test the webservice.
* It sends a datetime to the server which returns the datetime.
* @param pingDateRequest A datetime sent to the server
* @returns The original datetime
public Date ping(Date pingDateRequest) throws RemoteException;
The generation of the Web service related files goes smoothly in JDeveloper 10g. The problem arises when I try to deploy this web service on the Oracle 10g (10.0.3) OC4J standalone. it gives me the following error on the OC4J console :
E:\Oracle\oc4j1003\j2ee\home\application-deployments\Sachin-TradingEngineWS-WS\
WebServices\com\sachin\tradeengine\ws\Ping_Tie.java:57: ping(java.util.Date) in com.sachin.tradeengine.ws.Ping cannot be applied to (java.util.Calendar) _result = ((com.sachin.tradeengine.ws.Ping) getTarget()).ping
(myPing_Type.getDate_1());
^

I read somewhere that the conversion between java to xml datatype and vice versa fails for java.util.Date, so it is better to use java.util.Calendar. When I change the code to return a java.util.Calendar then the JDeveloper prompts me the following failure:
Method Ping: the following parameter types do not have an XML Schema mapping and/or serializer specified : java.util.Calendar.
This forces me to return a String data.
I would appreciate if someone can help me out.
Thanks
Sachin Mathias
Datamatics Ltd.Hi
I got the web service working with some work around. But I am not sure it this approach would be right and good.
I started altogether afresh. I did the following step :
1. Created an Interface (Ping.java) for use in web Service as follows :
public interface Ping extends Remote{
public java.util.Date ping(java.util.Date pingDateRequest)
throws RemoteException;
2. Implemented the above interface in PingImpl.java as follows :
public class PingImpl implements Ping
public java.util.Date ping(java.util.Date pingDateRequest) throws RemoteException {
System.out.println("PingImpl: ping() return datetime = " + pingDateRequest.toString());
return pingDateRequest;
3. Compiled the above 2 java files.
4. Generated a Stateless Java Web Service with the help of JDeveloper. This time the generation was sucessful.(If I had "java.util.Calendar" in place of "java.util.Date" in the java code of the above mentioned files the web service generation would prompt me for error)
5. After the generation of Web Service, I made modification to the Ping interface and its implementing class. In both the files I replaced "java.util.Date" with "java.util.Calendar". The modified java will look as follows :
Ping.Java
=========
public interface Ping extends Remote{
public java.util.Calendar ping(java.util.Calendar pingDateRequest)
throws RemoteException;
PingImpl.Java
================
public class PingImpl implements Ping
public java.util.Calendar ping(java.util.Calendar pingDateRequest) throws RemoteException {
System.out.println("PingImpl: ping() return datetime = " + pingDateRequest.toString());
return pingDateRequest;
6. Now I recompile both the java files.
7. Withour regenerating the Web Service I deploy the Web Service on OC4j 10.0.3 from JDeveloper. This time the deployment was sucessful.(The Deployment fails if I don't follow the step 5.)
8. Now I generated a Stub from JDeveloper and accessed the stub from a client. It works fine. Here if you see the Stub code it takes java.util.Date as a parameter and returns a java.util.Date. (Mind you I am accepting a java.util.Calendar and returning the same in my Web Service interface. Step 5)
The confusing thing is the Serialization and Deserialization of Data from Client java data to Soap message and Soap message to Server java data.
From Client to SOAP :
java.util.Date to datetime
From SOAP to Server :
datetime to java.util.Calendar
From Server to SOAP :
java.util.Calendar to datetime
From SOAP to Client :
datetime to java.util.Date (I am not able to understand this part of the conversion)
Any help or inputs would be appreciated.
Thanks

How to get the values from struct data type using java code..?
Hi ,
I am newer to java.
we are using oracle database.
How to get the data from struct data type using java code.
Thanks in Advance.
Regards,
kumarHi Rajeev,
To retrieve a FilterContainer you will need to traverse the report structure:
ReportStructure boReportStructure = boDocumentInstance.getStructure();
ReportContainer boReportContainer = (ReportContainer) boReportStructure.getReportElement(0);
FilterContainer boFilterContainer = null;
if (boReportContainer.hasFilter()) {
boFilterContainer = boReportContainer.getFilter();
} else {
boFilterContainer = boReportContainer.createFilter(LogicalOperator.AND);
Calling boDocumentInstance.getStructure() will retrieve the entire structure for the document.
Calling boReportStructure.getReportElement(0) will retrieve the structure for the first report of the document.
Hope this helps.

but my sql statement can only accept the format (yyyy-MM-dd)
such as "select * from xx where somedate = '2004-12-31'
but when i show it to screen, i want to show it as dd-MM-yyyy
I m using the following to change the jave.util.Date to str and vice versa. But it cannot shows the dd-MM-yyyy. I tried to change the format from yyyy-MM-dd to dd-MM-yyyy, it shows the wrong date in my application.
public String date2str(java.util.Date thisdate) {

java.sql.Date thissDate = new java.sql.Date(thisdate.getTime());
return date2str(thissDate);

HT201413 Why does Data Execution Protection or lack thereof keep shutting down iTunes
Why does Data Execution Protection or lack thereof keep shutting down iTunes?
Sounds like you have a battry issue but don't want to believe it.
If a car was running fine on one tank of gas, then you filled it up with another tank of gas and it began to run funny, one might suspect that tank of gas. But let's just say coincidence blew a valve-- would you think the new tank of gas was the culprit?
BUT WAIT!! It just might have been! The gas could have been of higher octane and put more more strain on the valves; you know, like going from 87 octane (OS6) to 93 octane (OS7) and showing you the engine was on the edge of compromise.
Sometimes you have to go with common sense. If everything else is ruled out, it must be the battery. And if it runs fine one moment in OS6 but immediately ***** in OS7, I'd believe my battery was suspect-- though comfy-- in OS6 but the OS7 showed its true power.
Moreover, if you had the answer-- or didn't want to believe someone's more competent advice-- why did you even call? You've already shown that you don't know much when you asked if you could go backwards after setting up the new OS as a new phone.
Additonally, if you're such the know-it-all, but yourself the $29 battery and put it in yourself. It's a piece of cake.

How does one install a express sql server to run with Visual Web Developer 2008?
I successfully installed .NET framework v 3.5 and VWD 2008 on a new Vista laptop. When I want to add a Sql Server database to a website, errors tell me to install SS 2005 Express. MSDN SS 2005 Express download tells me I MUST first install .NET framework v 2.0 before SS 2005. When I try to install framework v 2.0, I'm sent to v. 3.5 and no way to download SS 2005.
