Does Key Filters in library settings exist in SharePoint Foundation?

Does Key Filters and navigation hierarchy exist in SharePoint Foundation?
keren tsur

Hi keren,
The Key Filters and Navigation hierarchy for library is enabled by site feature "Metadata Navigation and Filtering", SharePoint Foundation doesn't provide this feature, so it doesn't exist in Foundation version.

  • Sort key filters in managed metadata navigation settings in Sharepoint 2010

    Hi All,
We have setup managed metadata navigation on our document libraries in SharePoint 2010. As part of this configuration, we have added content type as one of our key filters. However, we would like the list of content types in the drop down list in the key
filters section to be sorted alphabetically by name. Not sure how they are sorted by default, presumably by GUID.
Does anyone know a way to achieve this ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Damien.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to sort alphabetically by name in the key filters section.
You can use a JQuery solution. The source code of the page looks like this:
    <div>
    <span>Content Type</span></div>
    <div><span dir="none"><select name="ctl00$DropDownChoice" id="ctl00_DropDownChoice" title="Content Type">
    <option selected="selected" value=""></option>
    <option value="CT1">CT1</option>
    <option value="CT2">CT2</option> </select>
    <br/></span>
    </div>
So, you can talk to the dropdown with JQuery like:
    $(":select[title=’Content Type’]"). ;

Oops, I forgot a step between 7 and 8 ... before syncing the iPhone I need to explicitly send the document back to iTunes on the iPhone, or the changes won't come over at all ...
and then one more thing ... • List data validation failed when creating a new list item but does not fail when editing an existing item

    Dear SharePoint Experts,
    Please help.
Why does my simple formula work in Excel but not-work in SharePoint?
    Why does this formula...
    =IF([Request Type]="Review",(IF(ISBLANK([Request Date]),FALSE,TRUE)),TRUE)
...work in Excel but fail when I try to use it in SharePoint?
The intent of this formula is the following...
If the field "Request Type" has the value "Review" and the field "Request Data" is blank then show FALSE, otherwise show TRUE.
SharePoint saves the formula, but when a list item is saved where the formula is implemented, (under List Settings, List Validation), SharePoint does not, say anything other than that the formula failed.
Note that the "list data validation failed" error only happens when I am creating a new item-- the formula above works just fine when one is trying to Save on the edit form.
    Can you help?
    Thanks.

    Dear Jason,
    I appreciate your efforts.
However, it seems to me that this statement of yours is not correct...
"If it meet the validation formula, then you can new or edit the item, otherwise, it will throw the 'list data validation failed' error, it is by design".
I believe this is NOT the answer for the following reasons.
When I create a new item and click Save, the validation error is "list data validation failed".
When I edit an existing item and click Save, the validation error is "my custom error message" and this is, I believe, the way it needs to work each time.
I think, at the core, the error my formula does not handle some condition of null or blank or other default value.
I tried a forumla that casts the date back to a string, and then checked the string for a default value, but that did not work.
I tried looking up the Correlation ID in the ULS when "list data validation failed" occurs, but that gave no useful information because, even though logging was set to Verbose, the stack trace in the error log was truncated and did not given any
    good details.
However, it seems to me that SharePoint 2013 is not well-suited for complex validation rules, because...
SharePoint 2013 list-level validation (NOT column-level validation) allows only 1 input for all the multi-field validation formulas in a given list-- so, if I had more than 1 multi-field validation rule to implement on a given list, it would need to be packed
into that single-line-of-code forumla style, like Excel does. That is not practice to write, debug, or maintain.
SharePoint 2013 list-level validation only allows 1 block of text for all such multi-field validation rules. So that will not work because I would have something like "Validation failed for one or more of the following reasons-- withdrawal cannot exceed
available balance, date-of-birth cannot be after date-of-death,... etc". That will not work for me.
The real and awesome solution would simply be enhancing SP 2013 so that column-level validation forumlas are able to reference other columns.
But, for now, my workaround solution is to use JavaScript and jQuery, hook the onclick handler on the Save button, and that works good. The only problem, is that the jQuery validation rules run before any of the column-level rules created  with OOTB
SP 2013. So, in some cases, there is an extra click for the enduser.
    Thanks,

  • MMS Hidden columns appearing in Document Library Settings / Column list

    Hello all,
Before you read this please be aware that I have found a resolution (that might be helpful to others) but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing and the cause.
    Our scenario is as follows:
We use a Content Type hub
Most Content Types include one or more Managed metadata columns
The MMS Notes (hidden) columns (e.g. mms_column_name_0) have appeared on the 'Document Library Settings page under 'Columns' for 2 document libraries only. They appear under the actual name of the column (e.g. mms_column_name).
They are NOT visible to the user however (i.e. they are not selectable to be used in a view)
Looking at SharePoint Manager the mms Notes column's are marked as being Hidden = false. Altering this to true has the desired effect.
But has anyone else experienced the same issue as I'm inquisitive as to the cause.
The only thing I can think of that caused this to happen was us using 'Metadata navigation settings' (which allows you to configure navigation hierarchies) for the first time on one of the 2 Doc Libs effected . However, on testing it on other document
libraries the unhiding of columns has not occurred.
Can anyone shed any why this may have occurred?
    Jason

    Hi jasonl27,
    this behaviour:
This is by design. Two separate lists do not have any type of relationship established to distinguish that the
columns are the same. For example, take an arbitrary column called "Position" being created on two different custom lists. Because the column Position is a custom column created
in the list, it has no mapping to other lists. The "Position"
in one list could refer to a title of a person
in one list, or a physical location on a different list. SharePoint cannot tell if these two items are the same or completely different. As a result, a new column name is added when we move the item.
perhaps you may try to do these steps:
    $site = Get-SPSite -Identity "http://......../"
    $web = $site.RootWeb
    $field=$web.Fields["column name"]
    $field.Update($true)
    $field.Hidden= "True"
    $web.Dispose()
    $site.Dispose()

    Aries

  • More XMP questions / filtering on edit settings

alright, i've imported one or two of my old CS projects into LR1.0.
now i have a couple of questions.
in CS, i used sidecar XMP files, both as a way to avoid the mystery of the photoshop database, and to future proof myself for when something like LR came around.
now, if i import a CS 'raw' directory into LR, LR is picking up the XMP data. nice! but what happens if i import files in their current location, and then tell LR to use XMP files as well? will LR overwrite the CS .xmp that's sitting there? or do the LR .xmp files go somewhere else?
also, when i check 'use XMP' files in the LR preferences, i hear the disk starting to churn. does it go off and create XMPs for every file in the library which existed prior to turning on the XMP switch?
related to this, generally speaking, the files in my CS directories with a corresponding .xmp file are the ones which i also flagged as 'keep'. being a packrat, i never deleted the duds. is there a way in LR to filter on files which have had edits made? if i can do this, then i can very easily delete all the duds from the LR library. for now, i have to scan thru the filmstrip view for the +/- icon, select and label... this is going to be kind of time consuming for 10,000+ images...
i suppose another solution to this problem would be if LR could read the CS database and import flags, but this is probably too much to ask!
    thanks for any replies.

its not unreasonable to read "CS" as "CS2" given that probably most of the known universe has upgraded... except for me :)
anyway it was my other post in which i emphasized it was not CS2. oh well.
also i made post #9 which post #7 was the last post, so i didnt see your response, sean. we must have posted simultaneously.
    anyway... time for bed... ugh.

  • Is it mandatory to assign language key to all the words exist in the system

Current Scenario: We are in the Scan phase of the Combined Upgrade and Unicode Conversion.
    Our questions:
    1.    Is it mandatory to assign language key to all the words exist in the system? When we tried, without assigning a language key, still we were able to proceed to the next step.
    2.    Now the upgrade has started, so confirm us that whether it is necessary to assign the language key for all the words without a language assignment before export or SAP considers SPACE as a language character? This question is raised because in MDMP systems there is 1 column with Space.
    3.    For words with mix characters what is the language to be assigned? Mix characters eg: “a#p//e”
    4.    How such words are generated? Usually words are generated from table CDPOS where the field: table key has a provision to store binary numbers and the when system doesn’t recognize the characters given at the input, an ambiguous word is generated and it is stored in the vocabulary list. Hence what language is to be assigned to this word?
There are 21,000 such words without language assignment in the Vocabulary.
    Thanks ,
    vinay

    Hello Vinay!:
I'm doing the same project, CU&UC.
Now i'm in the PREPARE of the source system (all the steps in the additional steps has been done)....and i think that Is it mandatory to assign language key.
About other questions, i'm investigating too.

  • IPhoto '09 does not recognize my library

    Hello from Spain,
Recently I installed iPhoto '09 and everything seemed to work fine. I actualized my library to be able to use faces and places.
Suddenly iPhoto crashed and could not be reopened again. So I reinstalled iPhoto and now I have the problem that it does not recognize my library anymore saying that this current version of iPhoto (8.0) cannot read the library due to a modification done by a newer version.
Did anyone have this kind of problem and can help me out please.
    Thx

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
the problem is not the application but the library - launch iPhoto while depressing the option (alt) and command (apple) keys and rebuild the library
If that does not work download iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - and use its rebuild function which will create a new, rebuild library - if it does not do what you need the original library remains untouched for father work

  • Itunes does not recognise my library

I have my itunes library on a NAS. This morning I have tried to open Itunes and it does not recognise the library - it is asking me either to create a new library or to choose another library. When I try to link it to my existing library, I cannot select the library as it is greyed out.
This very same thing happened a few weeks ago and at that point i decided to rebuild the library. I wondered if anyone knows if they have had a similar experience, or why it is happening?
    thanks

I also am having this problem. It seems Apple has decided what's best for us, and your system will automatically switch the library location back to your hard drive on the MAC if it is unable to find the NAS library or if the NAS is turned off. This causes EXTREME frustration, because when you have TONS of music on your NAS, you then have to re-direct the library location back to the NAS manually, and it takes a LONG time for the MAC to reorganize the library. Plus if you inadvertantly loaded new music into your library after the location was moved back to your hard drive, you'll now have music in two different locations and consolitdating them is another huge time suck.

  • Getting Error message ""This set top box does not match the account settings"

Just ordered a new wireless receiver for the bedroom. Installed it and now getting the following error "This set top box does not match the account settings". Service was suppose to be enabled on Monday the 4th, but I recieved the hardware early and turned it on. I've since rebooted and unplugged and tried everything to no avail. Any thoughts on how I might get this to work? Regards,  Rick

your wireless receiver is misconfigured (dirty) and need to be scrubbed clean.
A tech (service visit) or tier 2 rep (phone or chat) can do this. The receiver needs to be unplugged, on the bottom of receiver is a GUI (long number) that will be needed to identify receiver, when instructed plug just the receiver in that gave number for, when that one is connected.
Your choice 4 hour appointment window, or time on phone , or chat.
If these have not been activated yet.... When screen comes up, depress OK on receiver, depress button on WAP, when the screen at receiver says try again, Depress OK button (remote or on stb) another screen for update, depress OK give about 10 minutes to load, reboot when checking depress menu to verify recordings, if no recordings menu not finished booting.
Set aspect ratio MENU, OPTIONS, etc.
should take about 20 minutes per receiver.

  • Library Settings not Saved

This is an annoyance which has been present in versions 1.1 through 1.3. I never use the Quick Develop panel and keep it closed. I don't use the Default selection from the Metadata panel; I use a custom selection. <br /><br />When I first open LightRoom it always opens in the default manner, ie the Quick Develop panel is open and the Metadata panel is opened to the Default setting. I am using Microsoft Vista (please don't laugh). <br /><br />I know there is a file called Lightroom Preferences.agprefs which is located at: C:\<user name>\App Data\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences\. If I appropriately edit this program before starting LightRoom it starts correctly with the library settings I want. Why doesn't Lightroom save my changes automatically to I don't have to change them manually each time I use the program?

He stated "If I appropriately edit this program before starting lightroom..." My guess is he was manually making some changes to the preferences file that actually made it parse incorrectly, and we all know how well lightroom reports errors, so it probably just came up ignoring most of it, and also failing to save any changes for the same reason.

  • "The interface name given does not specify a valid and existing interface."

    Hi nice guys,
I'm trying to use the XNET APIs to set Master task to Slave with LIN protocol. As I have no Experience before, there's something problem like the Interface of the NI USB-8476S can't be detected. The prompted windows presents following infomation:
Error -1074384758 occurred at XNET Create Session (Signal Output Single-point).vi:1
    Possible reason(s):
NI-XNET: (Hex 0xBFF6308A) The interface name given does not specify a valid and existing interface. Solution: Use a valid and existing interface. These can be obtained using MAX, XNET system properties, or the LabVIEW XNET Interface IO name. If you are using CompactRIO, refer to the topic "Getting Started with CompactRIO" in the NI-XNET Hardware and Software Help.
but in the NI MAX, the device is detected as "LIN0". Even the interface input control in the NI examples shows the error. But if I take the CAN Frame API, it works well.
Does anyone have some idea. I'm so preciate. Tanks in advance.
    best regards
    Melo

    Melonetern,
When do you receive these errors?  Does this happen when you try to run your code or our examples?  On top of that, does this error happen immediately or does it take a while?  Is this happening in LabVIEW or another interface?
If you could give us the versions of software you are using as well as the XNET driver versions that would be very helpful.
