Does not import all JPG photos from local folders

Hi,
Using Lightroom 5.3 under Windows 7.
Photos are located on local disk.
I received a selection of photos from our research project which I want to import.
Most of the photos have been imported correctly.
However, import of some 500 photos fails.
"synchronize folder" detects the new photos (501)
"synchronize" command reports that "no photos or videos were found to import"
Windows security settings on the files are all the same (inherit from parent folder).
Disk has enough empty space left (56 GB)
The photos are in Jpeg format, typically around 500 to 2000 kB each.
Produced from Photoshop CS5, up to 3267x2244 pixels at 300 dpi.
Photos open correct in other viewers.
Are the any limitations to
- folder and file name length?
- spaces in file names?
Thanks in advance,
Roger.

JPGs will not import for one of the following reasons
you have shot JPG+RAW on your camera and the Lightroom option is set only to recognize the RAWs but not the JPGs from the pair
the JPGs have previously been imported into Lightroom, and so Synchronize or Import will not import them a second time (nor is there a good reason to import them a second time).

  • When I plug my Ipad2 to my Imac, it does not sync all my photos from my Itunes library. It also splits events and picks what it wants to sync. How do I get all my photos to sync with Ipad2?

When I sync my Ipad2 with my Imac, it does not sync all the photos. It seems to pick & choose what it wants to sync and also splits events. How can I set it to sync all photos so both libraries are the same?

Can't help you with the sync problem but the splitting of events was supposedly fixed with the iPhoto 9.1.3 updater.
This is from the download page:
This update fixes a problem that could cause some events merged in iPhoto to be split back into multiple events on iOS devices after being synced.
So update iPhoto to 9.1.3 and re-sync.  If you already have updated to that version then I'm at a loss.

  • ITunes does not import all artists/songs from folder

I have had several issues with getting itunes to import all the music I have. I have selected the folder that I want itunes to be associated with. But when I go into itunes not all the artists imported. However, if I select add a folder, and then the artist, it imports the artist. I have tried to add the whole folder again, but still does not import all the artist/songs. At first I didn't think that I had imported the CDto the folder, but then when I went into my music folder it was there.
A couple of times when I have opened iTunes it was like starting over. I lost my playlists. I am not as concerned in getting those back as long as I won't lose all the changes I am now making. We also own two iPod shuffles, don't know if that makes a difference.
    Thanks inadvance for any information!

I had a similar problem with a Jimmy Buffett album,I sent the iTunes store an e-mail described the problem including the album title and receipt number and within 24 hours they responded and had done a "reset" and problem solved.
    Give it a try

  • Iphoto does not import all items from camera

I have been importing photos into Iphoto from my canon SD300. I have noticed that on occaissions it has skipped a few files while importing. In particular it has skipped movie clips. When the camera is connected Iphoto says it is ready to import and tells you the number of images and movie clips, and it recognizes all of them. However, once the import function is over on the last occaision I noticed that two clips and one image was not imported. I manage to get the missed image/clips by inserting the memeroy card in a card reader and dragging the missed image/movie clips into Iphoto.
I would appreciate if any one knows why Iphoto does not import all the items from the camera even though it recognizes that they exist and how I should fix this problem.
    Thanks.

    Hi imac2,
I don't know why iPhoto skips some of your files. I can tell you that I use Image Capture to download my images and video clips. My video clips from my Canon can get quite large (over 1010 mg). iPhoto can import smaller clips that digital camera made, but now a lot of the newer camera can create very large video clips and I don't think iPhoto can handle importing them.
Once I download my images and video clips I put them in dated folders. This makes it much easier to back up the video clips and images. I then import the folders of images into iPhoto. I like having more control.

  • New photo app does not import all of my photos from iphoto library

I have just installed  10.10.3 on my Macbook and the new photo app does not import all of my photos from iphoto library. I have about 3200 photos in the library and only 2300 are presented for import. I only have 1 library so I didn't choose the wrong one. Any suggestions?

Upon closer inspection it appears that the missing photos are in a folder called IPhoto Library.  This folder is greyed out when I choose the import folder.
When I use 'show package contents' it reveals the missing photos (below).  Why is my iphoto library so scrambled!  Thanks for any insight.

  • IPhoto does not add all new photos to the photostream???

iPhoto is not adding all new photos from one group, recently imported, to the photostream. Why? The photostream has space. The photos were all taken the same day, but only a small number of them from one import show up. Any idea why?

I have already got my refund for the cable! I tried a friends cable and everything works!

I'm trying to move my photos from my iphone to my PC, every time I go to my Computer it comes up with PhotoStream and iPhone , unfortunately this does that have all my photos from iPhone in it. Can anyone help me?
I'm using the most up to date software.
    Thanks

Thanks for that, on the sync via iTunes, when my iphone is connected to iTunes via USB my photos tab says my iphone but I can never see any pics there. If I press Sync it still doesn't show anything.
Correction from my original post, it only comes up with PhotoStream on my computer when I'm connected via USB.

  • How do I import all my photos from my iPhone into iPhoto?

Following the directions for importing, iPhoto only shows 131 photos for importing which seems to be a random selection from my 21 different files containing almost 1100 photos.  I want to import all my photos and would prefer they import in the labeled files that I have on my iPhone.  Why is this so difficult?
    Thanks for any help provided!!

    Note that
You can import only photo and video content taken with the built-in camera or captured on the device.
In other words the camera roll photos
If you have PhotoStream you can add the other photos to PS and import to your Mac from PS

  • How do I import all the photos from my iPhone 5 to my iPhone 6?

I have recently purchased a new iPhone 6. I currently have the 5 with nearly 3000 photos on it. I do not wish to lose them so how do I import all those photos on to my new phone?

You import then to your computer, then you sync them from computer to iPhone using iTunes.  Or, you make a backup of the iPhone 5, then restore that backup to the iPhone 6.

  • Aperture does not import Nikon JPG files when RAW and JPG

I own a Nikon D2x that I download files to a Sony 40GB portable HD. When I shoot in RAW + JPG only the RAW file is imported when I connect the Sony HD to my Mac and import to Aperture.
If I open the Sony disk Icon on the Desktop, I can see both the RAW and the JPG. In fact I can finder copy both files to the Desktop with no problem.
Even when I connect the camera itself, the jpg files are not imported.
This makes me think I should just shoot in RAW and save the space on the memory card.
Why does Aperture not import the JPG files?

it does import them ... but only displays the RAW file ... if you drill down into the library package you will see them ...
here are threads dealiing with same issue ...

  • When I sync my iphone to be able to import all the photos from a specific photo album onto my iphone.. why do the videos included not import?!

So I used to have an iPhone 5 with 7000+ photos inc videos. I finally decided to free up some memory by exporting the entire camera roll into a specific folder on my windows pc. In the album are all the photos and videos, matching the content from my camera roll (obviously). Now I have the 5S and would like the entire library of photos back into my photos app. So obviously it was as simple as plugging in my iPhone and clicking the photos tab, then 'Sync Photos from' and choosing that specific folder that I had previous exported my camera roll into. I then ticked the include videos checkbox. After the sync was completed, I then went onto my photo album and found the correct album being listed. However the number of photos on the iphone album did not match the number of photos in the actual album on my windows pc. Then I realised the reason.. the videos have not transferred? I've tried resyncing several times. iTunes identifies the album to exist the correct number of photos/videos as it should do, yet my iphone still has not imported any videos. Is there anything i'm doing wrong?! Thanks in advance for any help.

Seems that you can no longer hide them on your phone.  Try doing so in iTunes: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919.

  • ITunes does not sync all my photos (JPG) in iPhoto to the iPad2

    Hi!
I have a MacBook running OS X Lion, with all the updates applied and I also have the latest iTunes and iPhoto11 with all the updates applied. In iPhoto I have several events and a total of 11 thousand photos, and everything is fine, but when i try to sync all iphoto events in iTunes to my iPad2 (updated), iTunes only shows 616 photos!
I have tried to fix it by deleting the folders iPod Photo Cache in my iPhoto Library, but it didn't work out.
I also tried to verify if there were different formats or if the extension is hidden in some photo files, but there is nothing different! There are events with 10 pics and iTunes only recognizes 1 pic!
And I do not receive any error messages from iTunes!
    Have anybody seen it before?
May you give me any hints of what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks

Can't help you with the sync problem but the splitting of events was supposedly fixed with the iPhoto 9.1.3 updater.
This is from the download page:
This update fixes a problem that could cause some events merged in iPhoto to be split back into multiple events on iOS devices after being synced.
So update iPhoto to 9.1.3 and re-sync.  If you already have updated to that version then I'm at a loss.

  • ITunes not synchronizing all checked photos from iPhoto to iPhone

I've just installed iOS 5.1.1, discovered that not all photos that I checked in iTunes had been synchronized to my iPhone, noted that Other was taking up lots of space, restored the iPhone from a backup, discovered that it still did not subsequently sync all requested photos, selected to sync no photos and delete those on the iPhone, and am in the process of once again syncing the photos that I selected.  In short, I have been experiencing the usual frustration with iOS 5, new version notwithstanding.
Now I notice that I selected 25,287 photos, but iTunes is reporting "Copying photo ... of 13,320".  Why just 13,320? I elected to erase all the photos on the iPhone, so I would expect that iTunes would have to copy all 25,287!
Has anybody experienced this problem?  Maybe Apple would be wise to invest some cash in software quality control.  iOS 5 and iPhoto '11 are seriously flawed.

The operative word here is quality control.  Quality control of a major number version encompasses regression and stress tests.  Regression tests ensure that what used to work still does.  Some regression tests can be automated, depending on the design of the program and the sophistication of any testing frameworks.  Some have to be adapted to take into account changes in the way something is done in the new version, which, obviously, is another source of error.  Some regression tests can only be done manually, with human operators following written scripts and comparing the outcome to screen shots, etc.  An important source of regression tests are bug reports.  Once the bugs have been resolved tests should be created in order to ensure that they don't reappear.  Stress testing, at least when the stress factors can be tested separately, is relatively straight forward.  Things get more complicated when the stress consists of various processes running simultaneously.
As you can imagine, quality control, incuding support, depends on available manpower and, generally speaking, the more manpower available the better.

  • Aperture does not import all files in folder.

I have a folder with 3460 images.  They are a combination of NEF, TIF, and PSD and xmp files.
When it was finished importing it said it had imported the 3460 images; however, there are only 3278 images showing.
I tried starting a new library, and importing the same folder again.  Again, I got 3278 images.
If I use the Finder and go to the folder, it shows 3496 files; however, 36 of those are .xmp files.
Any idea how I can check to see which files are not importing?  Or what I can do to get these 182 files in Aperture?
    Many thanks for any help.

Could be just chasing a ghost, but at least we'll know we don't have to capture it.  Let's do two things to determine how many Images Aperture thinks are in the Library.
    1.)
Select the container "Photos" listed near the top of the Library Inspector.
Clear the filter.  (In Browser view, click the magnifying glass icon _inside_ the search field, and select "Show all" from the dropdown menu.)
Deselect all.  ("Edit ▹ Deselect All".)
Expand all Stacks.  ("Stacks ▹ Open all Stacks".)
What does Aperture report in the bottom border of the Browser?  Should be something like "1234 items displayed".
    2.)
    Close Aperture.
"{option}+{click}" the Aperture Dock icon.  (Hold {option} down until the dialog shows up.)
Select your Library from the list.
What does Aperture report below the list of Libraries (you may have only one Library in the list)?  Should be something like "1234 versions, 1234 originals".

  • Ipod does not import all songs in itunes

Does anyone know why when I plug in my ipod it will import a few of the songs then a message pops up that says attempting to copy to the disk failed. The disk could not be read from or written to, please help!!!

Another thing to be aware of is what format your files are in. If you have an Ipod Photo like mine it won't play .mp4 file format so when I first got my ipod it would only load the first 70 some songs, those songs were already .m4a, then it would give the same error message you discribed. I thought my ipod was hosed until I finally went through with a program I got of the internet that was a file extention converter tool and renamed all my files from .mp4 to .m4a then everything worked fine.
