Does Oracle APEX connects only to oracle express db

Hi,
Just wanted to know whether Oracle APEX connects to only Oracle express DB or any other oracle DB as well. I mean, to oracle 10g, 11g etc.,?
Thanks,

  • Does Oracle Express 6.3 support CWM?

    Hi there,
Does anyone ever has any experience using Oracle Wharehouse Builder to build a data warehouse and integrate it with Oracle Express?
I read the manual of Oracle Express Server and it supports access to RDBMS. But my case is that I already have a warehouse and would like to have it work with Oracle Express. OWB claimed it implements Common Warehouse Model (CWM) so that the warehouse can be used by other OLAP tools including Oracle Express.
My question is which Oracle Express function could be used to import the CWM instance created by OWB? Appreciate your help.

  • Does Oracle Express support Java servlets?

I am wondering if there is any functionality in Oracle XE that lets it emulate the Oracle Application Server. I am spefically looking for mod_plsql and j2EE(or .jsp and servlet) properties. An .ear file needs to be deployed into an application in the server.
Does Oracle XE have any such service/ability?

    Hello rthome,
that is a good news for me. Can you provide a "how to" guide about XE's AQ access via AQxmlServlet. I am interested in:
    1. On which Application Server AQxmlServlet was tested?
    2. Where can I get missing jars that are not shipped with Oracle XE? (ORACLE_HOME/JDBC/LIB/nls_charset12.jar, ORACLE_HOME/lib/http_client.jar, ORACLE_HOME/oc4j/j2ee/home/lib/javax-ssl-1_2.jar, ORACLE_HOME/lib/servlet.jar, ORACLE_HOME/lib/xmlparserv2.jar, ORACLE_HOME/lib/xsu12.jar, etc.)
    3. Which JDK, JDeveloper versions where you using?
    Can you visit my topic:
    Oracle XE Advanced Queuing
and see if you could point me to an answer on my problem.
    Thanks in advance

  • Oracle Express Limitation

    Good day
As specified in the documentation Oracle Express offers the following space storage limitations. To clarify what defines the storage space, can you please answer the questions below. Here are the four limitation as specified in the Oracle Express documentation
1- User data cannot exceed 4 gigabytes in size (in addition to Oracle system data).
2- Each computer can host only one instance of Oracle Express.
3 - Oracle Express may be installed on a multiple CPU machine, but it will execute (run) only on a single processor or a single processor core if multi-core processors are used.
4- Oracle Express may be installed on a server with any amount of memory, but will use only up to 1 GB of available RAM memory.
User data cannot exceed 4 gigabytes in size (in addition to Oracle system data).
QUESTION 1 - Please confirm that the ENTIRE 4 GIG is allocated for user storage not oracle files storage?
QUESTION 1 - Please confirm that the 4 GIG limitation DOES NOT include space used by Oracle system files (SYS and SYSTEM)?
QUESTION 2 - Please confirm that the 4 GIG limitation DOES NOT include space used by Oracle Temp files and Undo / Redo files (TEMP and UNDO)?
QUESTION 3- Please confirm that the 4 GIG limitation DOES NOT include space used by Oracle CONTROL FILE and BLOCK CHANGE TRACKING files?
QUESTION 4 - What query can I run to identify the used space within the 4 GIG allocated storage space?
I have also heard that the overall Physical size is limited to 5 GIG (Need to know is this is true. It is not mentionned in Oracle Express documentation)
QUESTION 1 - Does Oracle Express limits the overall database physical size to 5 GIG?
QUESTION 2 - If Question 1 is true -- Please confirm that the 5 GIG limitation DOES NOT include space used by TEMP and UNDO / REDO files?
QUESTION 3 - If Question 1 is true -- Does the 5 GIG limitation includes space used by SYS and SYSTEM files?
QUESTION 4 - If Question 1 is true -- Does the 5 GIG limitation includes space used by CONTROL FILE and BLOCK CHANGE TRACKING files?
QUESTION 5 - What query can I run to identify the overall database size?
Thank you in advance for your help. I really appreciate it.

What query can I run to identify the overall database size?Try this :SQL> select sum(bytes) from dba_data_files
      2  where tablespace_name not in (select tablespace_name
      3  from dba_tablespaces where contents = 'UNDO');

  • Connect Toad freeware with Oracle express Edition, How?

    Hello,
Although I know that people will raise the question this is Oracle and use SQL developer... Ok I do that and that is working fine. But on my work they work with TOAD so I like to work with TOAD as well and I want get some knowledge about Toad, TNSNAMES etc.
I've put the issue on TOAD forum as well, but till now I don't have received an answer.
I want to teach/learn myself Oracle by working with the Oracle express edition. I have downloaded the SQL Developer and I can work with it, which means I can create a connection.
Errors when I try to work with TOAD are:
If i try to make a connection:
    - "No valid clients found. You need at least one 64-bit client properly configured"
If I click on TNSNames editor:
    - Access violation in address xxxxxxx at module TOAD.exe"
I have installed oracle at D:\ORACLE_HOME. In this directory is also a TNSNAMES.ORA file.
I have installed the express edition with the installer. I have first installed the Oracle express edition and later TOAD.
I'm working on my local machine with:
    - windows 7 Home
    - Oracle 32 bit client:
    - Oracle Database 11g Express Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production
    - PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production
    - "CORE 11.2.0.2.0 Production"
    - TNS for 32-bit Windows: Version 11.2.0.2.0 - Production
    - NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.2.0 - Production
    - TOAD 64-bit freeware.
    *Questions:*
*- Are there certain environment variables necessary? Does TOAD expect Oracle at a certain directory?*
*- Is it necessary to add something to the PATH environment variable?*
*- 32-bit Oracle client will working with the 64-bit TOAD freeware?*

    - Oracle Database 11g Express Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production>
    - TOAD 64-bit freeware.Perhaps easiest way out is to remove 64-bit Toad and install the 32-bit one instead.

All these should be directed elsewhere, e.g. at some Toad forum, maybe at toadworld.com.

  • Lsnrctl services does not show service XE - new install of Oracle Express

It's a time-consuming and problematic installation of Oracle Express 11g, but for the moment just one question: why isn't service XE showing up in lsnrctl services? Here's that output, with Service XE missing:
    Connecting to (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=IPC)(KEY=EXTPROC1)))
    Services Summary...
    Service "CLRExtProc" has 1 instance(s).
Instance "CLRExtProc", status UNKNOWN, has 1 handler(s) for this service...

    Service "PLSExtProc" has 1 instance(s).
Instance "PLSExtProc", status UNKNOWN, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
    Handler(s):
    "DEDICATED" established:0 refused:0
    LOCAL SERVER
    The command completed successfully
    listener.ora is:
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 127.0.0.1)(PORT = 1521))
    DEFAULT_SERVICE_LISTENER = (XE)
    tnsnames.ora is:
    XE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 127.0.0.1)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = XE)
    slqnet.ora is:
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NONE)
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH = (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)

Well, I think this is progress, attempting to connect in sqlplus gives the error I had in SQL Developer when I had service XE showing up in lsnrctl services (that was the 2nd installation, now on the 3rd)
    SQL> connect system/xxxxxxx
    ERROR:
    ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
    Process ID: 0
Session ID: 0 Serial number: 0
So, couldn't connect and no luck with alter system register.
Yes, I should be OK with 127.0.0.1, both client and server are my home PC. Thanks for the idea of testing with no listener.ora at all - I renamed and moved listener.ora, for this interesting result: in sqlplus I either get the same ORA-01034 and ORA-27101, or 2 pages of a sqlplus help file, depending on the logon syntax used. I'm sure that's user error. In SQL Developer New Database Connection Test I get ORA-12514.
I've been closely following the thread from Marco ORA-01034 , ORA-27101 in windows Domain, and have learned a lot from you, Srini and TSharma. I think I'm leaning towards the possibility of a bad install. Task Manager shows process oracle.exe running (this may not mean much) and Services shows all the Oracle services Started. I don't know enough to interpret what I'm seeing for oracle.exe in Windows Process Explorer, although it looks like something is running. But suppose, hypothetically, that it was a bad installation, how would I test that?
Looking at the log files, I'm seeing clsc1.log is nearly identical to what Marco reported in that other thread:
Oracle Database 11g Clusterware Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production Copyright 1996, 2010 Oracle. All rights reserved.
    2013-04-12 01:25:47.968: [ default][3228]ut_read_reg:2:ocr registry key SOFTWARE\Oracle\olr cannot be opened. error 2
[    CLSE][3228]clse_get_crs_home: Error retrieving OLR configuration [0] [Error opening olr registry key. The system cannot find the file specified.
This may be another clue, the listener log file has this after a SQL Developer New Database Connection Test (test of Connection Type TNS + Network Alias XE, XE shows up just fine in the dropdown). My computer name is newamptron, and that host_addr IP is my DSL provider. Note the completely random port 2051. Essentially same message data with or without listener.ora in place.

  • Use HS Generic Connectivity in Oracle Express (XE)

Can I use HS Generic Connectivity in Oracle Express (XE) or do I need a "full" database?

I see you've managed to get HS working on Oracle XE. I am trying to do the same, but am hitting a wall when trying to set the hs_fds_connect_info parameter in that Oracle does not seem to recognise it:-
Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
ORA-32003: error occured processing parameter 'hs_fds_connect_info'
    LRM-00101: unknown parameter name 'hs_fds_connect_info'
    SQL> show parameter hs
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    hs_autoregister boolean TRUE
Is there anything I need to set elsewhere to enable this? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Where to locate HTTP Server for use with Oracle Express 10g and Apex?

    Hello,
Im a newbie and I downloaded oracle express 10g and Apex 3.2.1. The Apex install is referencing "choosing a HTTP Server" specifically "Oracle HTTP Server and mod_plsql and the embedded PL/SQL Gateway". My question is do the HTTP server or PL SQL embedded Gateway come with the 10g install or do I need to download them seperately? If so where can I locate them?
    Thank you!

    user12027813 wrote:
If using Oracle XE, then which APEX install scenario would I used if I downloaded both the XE and apex from the OTN?Oracle XE includes APEX 2.1 and uses the PL/SQL Gateway for HTTP service work. No separate HTTP Server is required.
If, after you install XE, you want to upgrade to APEX 3.x, you would select the PL/SQL Gateway for the upgrade.
If the PL/SQL Gateway (EPG) does not provide the full set of services you need, you could put a regular Apache in front and redirect to APEX for those specific issues.
If that is to complicated, then you could license Oracle Application Server Standard Edition 1 (for a fee) to get an Oracle HTTP Server and it's mod_plsql to replace the internal EPG.

  • Basic connection of data of oracle express with oracle BPA suite

    hello,
by this means I ask for its aid to be able to solve the following problem, have oracle express edition and business process architect besides business process to publisher and need that both connect to the base of express edition,
    can help me? ,
    thank you very much

If you want to load HTML file content as structured data, you have 2 basic choices.
If the HTML is XHTML compliant, then you can process it using the XML functions and XDB features of Oracle. The likelihood that it conforms to XHTML is slight though - very few web systems and services (to my knowledge) dish up XHTML. And plain HTML is not compliant.
The 2nd choice - well, a dirty one as you will need to find some kind of method to change HTML data into structured data. You can use a HTML parser that builds a HTML DOM - Gecko can be used for example. However, this is not a trivial exercise.
So instead you can also look at creating code that specifically support the HTML content that you need to process (these should use a static formatting model for the same page types). You can use string processing (Perl, lex, awk, regex, etc) to extract the usable data content from the HTML file and then load that into Oracle as structured data.
Whatever the method - if not XHTML, then you can expect a fair deal of complexity loading structured data from HTML content.

  • Cannot connect to Oracle express database using Oracle forms 10 on win XP

    Hello All,
I have installed Oracle Developer Suite 10g along with Oracle Express edition database on Windows XP home edition. (Do get successful installation message)
When i open up Forms builder and try to use connect option- it comes up with user name, password and database dialogue box?
If I enter user name and password I choose while installation express edition database it comes up with the following error:
    "ORA-12560:TNS:protocol adapter error"
Have checked the services and they all seem to be running, have tried deinstalling/installing by removing registry values but still no luck.
In fact what ever I type the error message remains the same.
On the other hand I can access Express edition database using user name and password I choose during its installation.
Can any one please reply me what details i need to enter here? Is it same as I set up during express edition database installation? What about database?
Please help. As I am struggling big time.
    Thanks in advance.

You may be having the same problem as this guy:
Forms 6i - ora-012203 tns:unable to connect to the destination
You need to start SQL Plus and see if you can log in, too, to make sure there are not other problems.
What are you using for the Database name (the third entry following username and password)?

You need export application parsing schema from 10G XE and then import those to target DB.
