Does texting on imessage through free wifi charge you if you don't have a text messaging or data plan?
Ok so I just got a new iphone 4s that's factory unlocked & I was wondering if you texted someone through imessage on wifi, will that charge you any money?
If the person doesn't have imessage? And if they do? Because I don't have a text messaging or data plan.

If you are using wifi, you are not using a data plan. You will not be charged.
And you cannot send SMS over wifi. You can only send iMessages (to people with Macs/iDevices and iMessage enabled).

Messages is the app.
iMessage is type of message that goes over wifi or cell data.
Open the Messages app and add a phone number or appleID, the line to enter you message will display Text Message (and a green Send button) or iMessage (and a blue Send button).
If it's a text message (green) it will be sent as SMS and you will be charged, even if you are on wifi.
If it's an iMessage (blue) and you are on wifi, it will be sent over wifi (no charge).
If it's an iMessage (blue) and you are NOT on wifi, it will be sent over cell data or sent as an SMS.

Why does iMessage bounce when I don't have a new message?
I have a MacBook Pro (mid 2012, 13inch non retina), and for some reason my iMessage dock icon repeatedly bounces even when I do not have a new message.
Thoughts?The Alerts icon is confusing. You have to click on the little up and down arrows next to the "Event" box - it wasn't obvious to me that there are a jillion separate events you have to tediously click and set separately. It was the less obvious events that were causing the iMessage icon in the Mac dock to bounce up and down. Like when someone came online or left online.
Also if you actually get a REAL message, the icon should display a number on it. -
MY wife has an Iphone 4 and I have a 5. To date we have used one apple account to manage music purchases/library. I updated ny phone to the new OS version and all her texting is showing up on my phone. I understand if i create an apple account for her I will not see her texts. Recently we bought a Mac and created a new apple account for her. How do I synched her phone with new apple account and get access to the music library under my account on the new MAC laptop before I update her phone to the new OS?
Going forward if I purchase music under my apple id and want her to have it on her device, how can I acheive that?You can continue to share an Apple ID for purchases.
Sign her in to her new account here:
Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (Keep on Phone if you want to transfer contacts, calendars, etc...) then sign in with her new ID
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID > Sign out then in with new
Settings > FaceTime > Apple ID > Sign out then in with new

I have a recently acquired an iPhone 4. Is it true if I am using PhotoStream to upload photos to my PC via iCloud, photos are only pushed when wifi is available? This means I don't have to worry about extra data usage, right?

On an iOS device, new photos you take will be automatically uploaded to your photo stream when you leave the Camera app and are connected to Wi-Fi. Note: My Photo Stream does not push photos over cellular connections. -
I can't text a contact but can voice phone them. I don't have the problem with any other contact and the contact is not blocked. I have an iphone5.0 OS 8.1.3. I used to be able to text them with no problem. The only difference I can think is that this problem may have started since I downloaded the OS I am using now

I just got an iPad, and am trying to figure out how to get it going. I have an iPhone with a data plan through AT&T. Do I need to set up a separate account for the iPad, or can I use it under my existing data plan?
You need a completely different data plan for your iPad which you set up on the device itself and it is billed to a credit/debit card. You cannot share other plans and the iPad account will not appear on your iPhone or any other AT&T account.

I notice when I plug in my phone to my computer and look at what's "On this iPhone" it says that I have a book on there (one that was a free download from something), but I don't have iBooks installed on my phone. How do I remove the book?

Was this book downloaded using iBooks, or from another application? If it was from iBooks you will need to install that application to delete it.

I currently have the 2 gig data plan for $50, plus a free 1 gig promotional attachment but Verizon is currently offering the 3 gig data plan for $50, but if I upgrade will I lose the free 1 gig promotion I currently have attached to my account?
I understand I will still be getting 3 gigs of data for the $50, I would just like to continue to have the free 1 gig promotion I was already getting, if you Verizon was willing to do it before then why can't they continue to do it now?Like Ann154 said, changing plans often results in the loss of any promos you may have. In your case, it makes no difference to the price you will pay - you'll have 3 GB for $50. Whether you have 1GB free, or a better price on the 3GB plan is a wash. I'd leave things alone....

Hi there, traveling through Italy with my iPad. Purchased a unlimited prepaid data plan with Italian carrier WIND. Has been working excellent, but when I try to download a new episode of Game of Thrones, I get an error message which says that I have to connect to a wi fi network or download the episode on my MacBook. Why can't I download using the microsim and prepaid data plan? Any help will be great thank you!
Unfortunately downloads larger than 20mbps require wifi due to most carriers having data limits. This "requirement" keeps people who are not familiar with data and what takes up a lot of data from going over.

I want to buy an iPhone 4 from virgan mobile but I don't want a data plan. I have an iPod touch 4th gen and I only use the Internet for Facebook.
So would it be possible to get a normal talk and text plan for the iPhone 4 and NOT a data plan?????????Only Virgin Mobile would be able to answer that. Call them.
Just be sure you turn off cellular data on your iPhone from working at all or else you could get some huge overage bills. Many apps will not work without the data plan including Visual Voice Mail, Maps (if you are not connected to WiFi), etc., so read the app requirements before buying.
Personally if you don't want a data plan pass on a smartphone and get something much cheaper.

How can I disable iMessage on my phone number now that I don't have an iPhone?
I transfered my number to an iPhone for about 3 months. Now I'm on a different phone with the same number. Every time an iPhone user tries to send me a text/SMS message, it's sent via iMessage and I never receive it.
I've removed the phone number from my Apple Support account. iPhone users still default to sending me iMessages. iPhone users can manually choose to send me SMS and I will receive the message. I receive text/SMS from every other type of phone on every carrier without fail.

How do I remove my iMessage account or conversation from a computer I don't have in my possession?
I joined a company that uses MacBook Air. Was laid off unexpectedly. In the haste, I failed to remove my iMessages from that computer before turning it in. My phone, and all other personal devices are Apple and receive my text messages. Short of changing my cell number and email address, how to I unlink that laptop remotely?
Without the ID/password, you won't be able to use it. Suggest you take it to an Apple store. They may have some advice.

Why is my wifi grayed out and i don't have access?
I cannot turn on wifi on my iphone 4s. The selection is grayed out. I have reset network settings, re-booted the phone, toggled airplane mode, cellular data etc. is there a solution?

If I don't have cellular service but I do have wifi, will I receive iMessages through my phone number? My friends don't have my email, only my phone number, and I don't always have service, but I'll usually have wifi, so can they iMessage my phone number and I'll still receive it or do I need to give them my email address to imessage(Apple ID)?

then select item category as TANN-free of charge item. but you need to maintain pricing procedure accordingly.
Make a return delivery and issue credit note accordingly through VF01.
This will help to accept free goods and issuing CN with ZERO value.
