Does Verizon support J2ME?

We are developing J2ME cell phone based applications for mobile learning and test preparation See
PowerVocabForGRE2006 at http://www.applimobile.com/
We are running into problems with deploying them on phones from Verizon. I noted that Verizon supports BREW. Does it mean that they have NO SUPPORT for J2ME? Is there an alternate way to get J2ME apps to run on their phones?
Please help! We also have a trial download on our website, so if you wan to try it out on your Verizon phone before replying, that would be awesome. Thanks.

If it support BREW, it does not support J2me! Solution would be:
1. to port the J2me code to brew
2. to make BREW wrappers for the J2me code stuff.
And you don't need to spam to aks questions. It works well without all the crap around it ;)

Just because Verizon sells Windows Phones does not mean they support your GSM model.
    Verizon uses CDMA.

Why does Verizon not support Windows 8 for wi fi?  Are they planning on supporting Windows 8?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Verizon wi fi for hot spots does not work with Windows 8.  For verification go to FAQs about Verizon Wi-Fi for FiOS Internet,
http://www.verizon.com/Support/Residential/Internet/fiosinternet/networking/setup/wi-fi/124650.htm , and click on How do I know if my laptop or netbook is compatible with Verizon Wi-Fi? .  Verizon wireless home network does work well with Windows 8.
Since you can't even download the wi fi for hot spots software if you have Windows 8, I don't know how to use compatability mode to get around the problem,

  • Does Verizon ever provide a different model phone if the customer has basically had the same issues with 3 prior 'replacemet' (refurbished) phones?

I have owned a Samsung Galaxy Stellar for the about the past year and a half, which is only my second smartphone. I am not a whiz at all this but I'll try to be coherent. I had problems with the Stellar  from the beginning: Very slow loading browser, problems with the cursor, etc. After about 6 months, the phone dropped, and no, I didn't throw it on the ground!
I have insurance and it was still under warranty, so it was replaced, by Assurian, I believe. The replacement phone had the same problems, plus a whole lot more. During calls, the wifi, and/or Bluetooth options would appear, or the phone would suddenly go on mute. In addition, when I tried to access my voicemail, what I heard was my own voice and outgoing message, not the one from Verizon asking for the password. These problems were intermittent, which made the Verizon employees  dubious, but it's like the car that you take to the garage that suddenly works fine. Anyway, there were some other problems too, so I got a replacement phone again, which is the phone I currently have had for about 3 months. A few days ago it went from bad to worse. In fact it went Crazy!: Every call I make or receive is immediately dropped. Maybe after 5 or 6 tries, I can  complete a call, but rarely. When I do, the mute and speaker options spontaneously activate, at the same time!!  When I go into my voicemail, the messages are deleted in rapid fashion, one after the other, and I cannot get them back.   Or, as I said earlier, the Wifi/Bluetooth screens appear, and it's difficult to punch in any numbers as I have to hit the back arrow many times. Strangely, the phone makes odd sounds: It buzzes or makes this odd chiming sound! If I didn't know better, I would think that I have finally lost my mind! I could go on but you have the gist.  The phone is simply not workable. I  phoned tech support, and she was very nice. After an hour on the phone, it worked ok, until the following day. She didn't do a factory reset, but she had me take the sim card and battery out. She did things on her end, which unfortunately I don't recall, but the phone worked ok until the following day, when it went crazy again.
I took it to the corporate Verizon store where I live, The guy said "It's a lousy phone, a cheap, bottom of the line phone." By the way, throughout this time, I had had about 6 hours with tech support, between this phone and the last one.
THIS IS MY QUESTION: I asked him if I could have a totally different phone, since this model is clearly defective. He said no, but they could send me another replacement. He told me to call trech support  while I was there in the store and ask them, because they don't do repairs at the store. The tech on the phone  told me the issue is with my Gmail account! That there is a virus on some phones and each time I get a replacement phone, because I have kept the same Gmail account, the virus keeps getting 'transferred', for lack of a better word, to the next phone. I was totally incredulous. Virus? She said, "Well, I use the  term loosely, but it's just a weird glitch. When you get a replacement phone, bring it back and we'll save and upload all your data, and set  you up with a new email account." I was confused and annoyed, as I had never heard of this, and felt I was getting the runaround. I asked her if they could give me a different phone (free of charge) and of course the answer was no. By the way, I should mention that the Stellar is no longer made. These are my options, according to the 3 different Verizon employees I spoke with: I am eliblele for the early upgrade which they call the Edge. From what I understand, it's the full retail price paid out over 2 years, with a partial payment made at time of purchase. One person told me that after 24 months, they would accept what I paid as payment in full? Sounds too generous. Option 2 is $50 of a new phone, and option 3 is to buy a new phone at a Verizon store that is having an android sale. So, I acquiesced to getting another replacement which I will keep until I buy a new totally different phone. My impression is that it's not like buying a bad toaster. They don't refund your money and let you get whatever you want for the same price! My question is this: Does Verizon ever just replace a phone that has had problems, with a totally different model? I have made as much of a stink as I can muster towards that end, but I am wondering if anyone out there has actually been able to pull that off?
Thank you for any feedback ,comments or stories!

amysue, We defintely want you to have a reliable and working phone. Our apologies that you have had issues with the current model, the Galaxy Stellar. After reviewing information about the overall function of the phone, it does not appear that Samsung has recalled the device or stated that all Stellar devices are defective, with that being said, the warranty would still only cover the same make and model. The only time a completely different phone is sent out is if the manufacturer deems the entire make and model overall faulty. It is common to have a few glitches and a master/factory reset, in addition to all other troubleshooting, will help resolve these issues. The Stellar is no longer made because there have been several Samsung galalxy devices launched, and this is common with any device manufacturer. Our recommendation is to take advantage of EDGE, if you are seeking a new device with low monthly payments. This gives you the chance to explore different device options without having a contract and you can EDGE up to a new device once meeting certain requirements. We hope to resolve your concerns here or by calling customer support.

  • Why does Verizon hide the fact on their network an iPhone cannot deliver simultaneous voice and data

For me the breaking point was when the local Corporate Store clerk lied to be about their return policy.  He even documented the information he gave me and that didn't matter to management or corporate.  I made a decision to switch to the iPhone and was specifically told I had 30 days to evaluate weather I could make the transition from android to iOS.  If I couldn’t for any reason, I could just return the phone and pay the $35 restocking fee and we were then free to choose from one of the many androids.
After weeks of challenges and countless hours spent with first tier then second tier then a product specialist we all came to the documented conclusion that the iPhone, on Verizons network could not support data and voice at the same time... Every other smart phone on Verizons network could and always has... the IPhone on ATT's network can support both voice and data at once... but Not On Verizons network...
Each tech I spoke with seemed shocked and in utter disbelief that this could be so. They blamed ATT for harboring special privileges hold over from their exclusive relationship with Apple.  Which is not true.  Then they blamed Apple for delivering handicapped phones to Verizon on purpose. Well, with an Apple Product Manager on the phone listening in on a Verizon Tech giving me this among other excuses why I could not be on the phone and using google at the same time,  the Apple Rep finally jumped in and very politely cleared up any miss information the Verizon tier 2 support rep was fumbling out.
So after I had done everything in my power to make the phone work the way I had understood it would.  And had every reason to believe it would.  As did every Verizon rep I spoke with at first until they did a little research and found Verizon had deliberately been hiding this fact from customers.  So I conceded to go back to the Android world for now and let Verizon sort out this glaring deficit hopefully in the near future…  Though every support rep concluded that there was no mention of this being fixed or even a problem so not to hold my breath…
I couldn’t have been more shocked or infuriated when I went to exchange the “still in the plastic mint condition iPhone” I was told I had to have brought it back in the first 14 days… I pleaded and argued, even directed the manager to the notes entered in verizon’s own support documentation regarding my case and he said “well I see here where you were told that but that rep was wrong”.   That may be so but I based my entire testing and evaluation timeline based on the dates the rep clearly and admittedly told me!   The store manager said there was nothing he could do.
Now I mentioned I’m a Network Solutions Provider and being able to be on the phone doing a support call and using my cellular internet at the same time are an absolute must for me to be able to preform my job.  Every Verizon smart phone I have ever owned had been able to do this.  Now I am told I am STUCK in a two year contract with an inadequate  device that I cannot exchange and therefore functionally useless to me.
Verizon corporate nor the store manager cared one bit about my position.  They stood behind a little register tape that by signing my credit card receipt I now owed them two more years of my life and now they could care less weather I had a functioning solution or that I had been a loyal customer for over 17 years. Or that I had brought entire small business offices to them for cell services. Just stood there and held a copy of my receipt and said, well  you signed it so here is what it will cost ya to get out of it!
He got out a calculator and started running numbers for what I would have to pay to fix this situation… What I would have to pay to even leave Verizon and go get cell service from someone else.  It felt dirty … seedy… like being at some 3rd world used car lot where some shyster had gotten someone wrapped up in a contract and now was going to squeeze the life out of a customer even though they couldn’t’ even deliver the service they implied you were going to get in the first place.
In 30 years of being a small business owner I have never encountered an organization that had less integrity or more unscrupulous business practices…
I see post after post of Verizon  Customer Support  reps answering threads… funny I haven’t found one where a user honestly thanks the rep for actually helping them out…….  Please Verizon Customer Support, show me you actually can look at a situation and see an equitable solution where a Customer and the Share Holders can both win…..

Well if this information was as ubiquitous on the web as you suggest, I am puzzled why it took three weeks of troubleshooting with many levels of Verizon support before we collectively concluded this was the situation...
Regarding Reading what I sign... Thanks for that advice though in this situation I was handed a stylus and told to sign a Signature Pad at the check out counter... ONLY AFTER I signed (for the purchase only)  was I presented with this return policy conveniently nested in a 3 foot long reciept consisting of paragraphs of Helvitica 6 type set info...   I made the assumption that the sales person could correctly  answer a direct question regarding the policy I  inadvertently signed for when authorizing the credit card charge...   Even more concerning is that when by my actions and constant communications with Verizon, my intent was clearly based on the information I had gotten from the sales rep.  and if I was given misinformation it would seem Verizon could show some integrity and support the situation with some equitable solution rather than hiding behind contracts collected from sales staff who do not tell customers the truth.....

  • Does iphone5 supports all the lte bandclasses for lte operators apple supported?

Recently, apple has announced a list of operators that supports lte, http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/.
For model A1429(cdma model),Verizon is one of these operators that supports lte.
    Here's two question,anyone knows?
1.What 's the lte bandclass currently used by Verizon that supports lte of iphone5?
2.If iphone5 currently support all bandclasses(1,3,5,13,25) for verizon? Or  only bandclass 13 is limited by iphone5 when using verizon's lte network no matter which lte bandclass is currently supported by verizon?

If the article lined can solve the problem,  i would not ask.
All bandclasses refered in my question are  bandclass(1,3,5,13,25).My question is that does iphone5 support bandclass 5 of lte for verizon if VZW operates this bandclass which apparrently verizon isn't operation now?

  • Suggest me PDAs that fully/partial support J2ME

    Hello everybody.
I am working on a project developing a Bluetooth client/server application.
Unfortuanately, I have met many compatibilities problems with PDAs running Windows CE 3.x or later, using some j2se libraries with Bluetooth from Avelink and Atetana companies.
Does anybody can suggest me devices which do support J2ME fully or partially?
What about PDAs that run PalmOS operating system?
    I really appreciate any help.
Please help me because I have met many many compatibilities problems.
    Regards

I use a Sharp Zaurus that runs LINUX (EMBEDIX) with JEODE as the VM. I love it.
Mine is pretty old; it's an SL5500 and requires add-ons for Bluetooth. The newer ones, C1xx and now C3xx have Bluetooth integrated.

  • Airport utility does not support base station? Help!

I cannot get base station light to turn green. Blinking amber. I upgraded to a new Verizon modem and since then the base station does not work. What can I do?

Make sure the new Verizon Modem is not also a WiFi Router, if it is then that may be your issue.  If it is indeed just a Modem then your Ethernet Connection should work and your base station should be working.  You said "Airport Utility does not support base station".  Don't know what you meant by that.  Do you have an Airport Extreme, Airport Express or a Airport TC as a Base Station?  If yes, you should be able to set up your Network via Airport Utility.  If the Verizon Modem is only a Modem then unplug the power from your Airport Base Station, then unplug the Power from your Verizon Modem for at least 1-minute.  Plug the Modem back in and give it a moment or so, then make sure you do have an Ethernet cable going from your Verizon provided Modem to your WAN port on your Airport Base Station.  Now power up your Airport Base Station and go to your Airport Utility.  Find the Base Station and click on Edit...  Make sure your Network Name is correct, your Password is Correct, your Security method is correct (example:  WPA2 Personal).  If all correct see if your blinking Amber light is now Solid Green.

How long should I wait before looking at alternative DNS?

    Nice, real nice............
Lesson learned - warning to those who might be hosting a web site and change servers + hosts
"yeah, you can go ahead and do that"
    It's a combination of things.
First it depends how fast your hosting isp issues a DNS push to send out your new address and then it's dependant on how fast the push trickles through all the dns servers in the world.  I believe if you check with your hosting isp they will say it can take up to 24 hours to propogate around everywhere.  You could use one of your hosting isp's dns servers as your primary dns server and then you should see the chnages virtually immediately, however that could slow down other access slightly as it might be slower to reach than a near at hand verizon server.

  • HT204088 DOES IPHONE SUPPORT RINGBACK TONES

    DOES IPHONE SUPPORT RINGBACK TONES

Each line you want to have the ring back tone you have to sign onto that numbers my Verizon account. So if you want a ringbacktone use your screen name and password then you go to media or something and buy a ringbacktone. If another line wants ringbacktones you have to sign into there name to add the fee $1 per month and then purchase songs online too. You can't share the tones so if you each like the same tones you have to buy for each.
