Does XML approach for passing parameters in the query make the query slow?

Hi,
I am using XML approach for passing parameters in a query. This is running very slow but when I pass comma separated values in parameter, it runs very fast.
So it concludes that we should not use XML approach for passing parameters. Please confirm me that Am I right or wrong?
I have also googled to clear my doubt but not get solution till now. please help me.

I am facing this below error in AP,AR,CM,GL Modules. If any one knows the solution plz revert back ASAP,
I encountered the error message when I created an invoice in AP module:
APP-FND-01702:An assignment does not exist for these parameters and one is mandatory.
Cause:The profile option Sequential Numbering is defined to have
sequential numbering always used. The current set of parameters does not have a sequence assigned.
Acction: Go to the Assign Sequqnces screen and assign a sequenct to the current set of parameters.

Hi Senthil,
this is an issue with the configuration only, when the profile option is Always used system is referring to your Sequential numbering configuration, which seems to be not right / incomplete...Hence verify whether you have defined assignment for all the categories in the modules and re-test the same again ....
You can change the profile option value to Partially used, which will not throw an error, it would only give you a warning ..

How does APEX check for null values in Text Fields on the forms? This might sound trivial but I have a problem with a PL/SQL Validation that I have written.
I have one select list (P108_CLUSTER_ID) and one Text field (P108_PRIVATE_IP). I made P108_CLUSTER_ID to return null value when nothing is selected and assumed P108_PRIVATE_IP to return null value too when nothign is entered in the text field.
All that I need is to validate if P108_PRIVATE_IP is entered when a P108_CLUSTER_ID is selected. i.e it is mandatory to enter Private IP when a cluster is seelcted and following is my Pl/SQL code

My problem is it is returning FALSE for all the cases.It works fine in SQL Command though..When I tried to Debug and use Firebug, I found that Text fields are not stored a null by default but as empty strings "" . Now I tried modifying my PL/SQL to check Private_IP against an empty string. But doesn't help. Can someone please tell me how I need to proceed.

How long does it take for a new book to appear in the iBook store after you have submitted it successfully? I submitted a free book last night. No sign of it 6 hours later ... If the delay is because process are being followed, what ate they? Any ideas?

My IPHONE will not Sync when plugged into the USB port, although the it makes the sound that it is charging, Itunes does not recognize that it is there, what should I do?

I have restarted the computer, the IPHONE 4, I have checked for updates, and Have reinstalled Itunes. The Iphone plugged into the usb makes the noise that its charging but nothing else. It does not sync and ITUNES does not recognize its plugged in.

I would expect that it would make an unusual noise if plugged into a generic USB charger that does not have enough oomph to charge a pad to alert you - otherwise, you might think the noise is reassuring that you are actually charging it.

I guess my question was actually more of a comment on the (lack of) design! It is unusual that something like this would still be in an Apple product. There are wall chargers that have a USB port on them that do not have the required oomph to charge the iPad. I have one that has two USB ports, one for my iPhone (it won't charge an iPad), and one for an iPad with greater amperage rating. I accidentally used the wrong ones for a while yesterday, but noticed before being "surprised" the next morning by an uncharged iPad. The iPad is smart enough to say "Not charging" by the battery icon when it is plugges in to one of these, so it "knows" - seems like it would be fairly simply to have the iPad make a different or additional noise wehn it puts up the "Not charging" text icon. Failsafe user experience?

Does compiling the kernel makes the system run significantly faster?

It used to be when you compiled your kernel (at least ten years ago), you would get a significant speed boost. However, with the speed of machine nowadays, I wonder how much, if any. Does compiling the kernel have a significant increase in daily performance or otherwise? If so, what portion of the system does it makes faster than before? In short, Is it worth it? I appreciate any comments.

That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.
You can opnly resize using the available options and file size is not one of them

Where did you purchase this. The US phones do not come with the SIM removal tool anymore. They haven't for some time now. I'm not even sure it comes with any of the devices anymore. You can just straighten out a paper clip and do the same thing.

I have three Task Flows:
1. TF1
     - Main Taskflow that calls a web service to gather its data
2. TF2
     - Secondary taskflow which receives a parameter and depending on the value of the parameter received will display its data accordingly. Generally any data
     is feed from TF1
3. TF3
     - Same as TF2Use Case:
All three TF will be dropped to the page as Regions in a Webcenter Portal Application. Changes in TF1 should propagate into TaskFlow 2.
Question:
1. How do I configure that changes in TF1 would be propagated back into task flow 2 and 3 and whats the best option for this?
2. At runtime, user can choose to edit the page and TF2 and TF3 can be deleted but TF 1 should remain as the source of information.
Given the scenario above:
- shall I wire the taskflows via page parameters?
- contextual events?
What are the considerations that needs to be thought of. I havent done such requirements before.

Contextual events seem to be the best case.
This way you can trigger whenever you want. Web services can be slow so you can trigger the event when the gathering of the data has been finished and then pass some value on the event.
An event also has a payload so it's an ideal scenario to add the data from the service on it so you can use it in the other TF's.

Better way for passing parameters ?

Hi, i'm using a hashmap(string) in my java (parameters/value).
At this time, i m calling Java methods from native code to retrieve value from this hashmap.
I think it would be better to pass all the data to native code, and after retrieve data from C structure.
i dont know what jni structure i should use to pass these datas(jobjectArray, jchararray). I cant pass string to native functions because there are too many parameters.

If you need extremely robust solution, have a look at NewDirectByteBuffer and GetDirectBufferAddress - native functions to allocate ByteBuffer in native memory which could be accessed from Java or retrive the contents of the ByteBUffer allocated in Java. This is pretty neat, since you are not passing any parameters except for a reference to ByteBuffer which can be read directory from native code.
SUch approach does buy off if you need to pass really huge structures (over 10M?..) since parameters to native code are passed 'by value' (so, EVERYTHING is copied) - if I remember everything correctly - haven't touched JNI for a while.
I did some tests with early 1.4.x JVMs long time ago and the trade off wasn't very obvious in my case (< 2-3M of data passed in and out). So, unless you run in performance bottlenecks or can think of some generic 'protocol' for your application to read/write params from a buffer (thus eliminating/limiting changes to JNI interface every time you need to pass new parameter) i don't think it's worth it.
