  • Are JDev autogenerated paths needed to create ear, war and jar files ?

    Hi
    We want to create ear, war and jar files from Ant build script generated from JDeveloper 11.1.1.7.
    We also like to use ojdeploy with it.
    In the process of creating build.xml files from projects, we see these paths.
    We also have standalone Weblogic installed with ADF runtime 11.1.1.7
    Questions:
    1- Do we need these path ids to generate ear, jar, war files properly and then deploy the ear to our standalone Weblogic so that our webapp can run ok ?
    2- Why are they generated, if they are not needed
    From research, it appears that we don't need these paths except to keep ant targets of init, compile, exec etc with ojdeploy.
    3- Is that true ?
    We are afraid that because no paths are listed in the build.xml, then when we deploy the ear app, it cant use the ADF runtime on the standalone WLS.
    Thanks in advance for answering.

    There are two different things here. Using ant to build the class files and then building an ear from the class files and other resources.
    The building part needs the libraries if you use javac as compiler. Building an ear file only needs the path to the jar files which are packed into the ear.
    In this sense you need the pages you see in the build.xml.
    Then Jdev offers another way: ojdeploy. This tool is a Jdev without a gui.
    You can use this tool and build the classes for each project of a workspace and to build build war and ear file. This is just like you click the rebuild button for each project and then the deploy the projects and application. If you use this approach you don't need the generated path ids as the whole build process is done inside Jdev as it's done on your developer pc.

  • ClassNotFoundException trying to load classes in a .war file inside an .ear file

    Hi. I've deployed an EJB2 enterprise app as an ear file on WebLogic 6
              without errors. The ear file contains web app and ejb components in war and
              jar files. The web component is set to be the default web app in the
              config.xml file. Everything deploys without error messages.
              My problem is that I get ClassNotFoundExceptions when I try to invoke a
              servlet (via its servlet-mapping) or do Class.forName() on any class file in
              the war file.
              I see in '.wl_temp_do_not_delete' that the ear file has been decomposed into
              the ejb jar and web war files. The war file is not 'exploded' into a
              directory structure, however (as the console.war is). Is this an error
              (should the class packages in the war file be 'exploded'?)
              I don't see a tag in the web.xml, config.xml, or application.xml that tells
              the server to explode the war file--is there one?
              Note that if I manually copy the exploded class folders into the
              '_tmp_war_myserver_myserver_<<webappname>>' directory (and not, curiously,
              into a WEB-INF/classes subdirectory of that directory), the servlets and
              other classes load correctly. Also, jsps and html files load just fine
              without exploding the war file.
              Note also that the server complains about not being able to find the
              classes, even though it reports that the decomposed war file is in the
              classpath. Is there a problem loading class files from a .war file (because
              the namespace is different, with root classes located in WEB-INF/classes
              rather than the .war file's root?)
              Also, in the application.xml file, what is the meaning of the
              <context-root></context-root> element? What should its value be? What if
              you leave it blank?
              Thanks for any help,
              Reid

  • Using JMX to read ejb manifest jar and ejb-jar.xml in ejb jar inside ear

    Hello,
    I have an ear deployed on weblogic console. I need to check contents of manifest file and ejb-jar.xml of a jar that is present in the deployed ear.
    Currently I am using below code to access jar inside ear deployed :
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable(5);
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
    "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,
    url);
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, user);
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, password);
    Context ctx = new InitialContext(env);
    mBeanHome = (MBeanHome)ctx.lookup(MBeanHome.ADMIN_JNDI_NAME);
    String type = "EJBComponentRuntime";
    Set beans = mBeanHome.getMBeansByType(type);
    try{
    for(Iterator it=beans.iterator();it.hasNext();)
    EJBComponentRuntimeMBean rt = (EJBComponentRuntimeMBean)it.next();
    if(rt.getParent().getName().equals("xxx")){
    System.out.println(rt.getName());
    l.add(rt.getName());
    Here xxx is the ear. Now I need to get inside the jar (represented) by variable rt and access its manifest file,ejb-jar.xml
    Does anyone have an idea how to do this?
    regards
    Sameer

    Isn't it possible to put them there manually? :)

    Hi Ten,
    FYI, just by placing the ejb jar inside EAR project it will not be picked up for deployment. The EJB module has to be defined on EAR Module Assembly, and the steps are:
    > EAR Project | Properties, Deployment Assembly - Add EJB module
    NOTE: To verify the dependency you could try to export the EAR project to an .ear file. If the exported .ear file bundles ejb jar then deployment should work fine.
    As far as the deployment mode, OEPE supports WebLogic Split-source (default) and Exploded archive. In the default split-source mode, the .beabuild.txt contains the mapping to the actual files whereas in exploded archive the files are copied over to deployment staging location.
    Steps to modify deployment mode:
    > In the server view, right click on server configuration | Properties, select WebLogic | Publishing
    Please make sure the ejb module is defined appropriately and let me know if this resolves the issue.
    Thanks,
    Ram

    Hi,
    It seems one of your ejb jar is missing from the current file location.
    D:\dev\workspaces\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources\.projects\itr-ear\beadep\citron_domain\itr-ear\split_src
    you can make it manually copied to this location and build the project again so that it can able to deploy propertly.
    Now one more thing you can do open a ticket with oracle support for better assistance.

    Kal

  • Multiple war file in single ear in ATG10.1.1 with JBoss

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to have multiple war files in single ear in ATG? I tried to deploy one but got some errors when. I tried this so that I can have a new site without altering existing crs.
    I have an ATG10.1.1 instance (Windows 7, JBoss-eap-5.1, Oracle 11gR2) with crs installed and running.
    I am not sure whether its a good practice or not. Please correct me if I am going wrong
    Here is the steps that I have done.
    1. Created new war file in CommerceReferenceStore (Copied existing store.war and renamed it to sample.war)
    <ATG_DIR>/CommerceReferenceStore/Store/Storefront/j2ee-apps/Storefront/store.war to <ATG_DIR>/CommerceReferenceStore/Store/Storefront/j2ee-pps/Storefront/sample.war
    then,
    a) Edited sample.war/WEB-INF/web.xml to add new context root.
    <context-param>
    <param-name>context-root</param-name>
    <param-value>sample</param-value>
    </context-param>
    b) Edited sample.war/META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
         Manifest-Version: 1.0
         ATG-Module-Uri: sample.war
         ATG-Context-Root: sample
    2. Edited <ATG_DIR>/CommerceReferenceStore/Store/Storefront/j2ee-apps/Storefront/META-INF/application.xml
    Added new web module
    <web>
    <web-uri>
    sample.war
    </web-uri>
    <context-root>
    sample
    </context-root>
    </web>
    3. Modified <ATG_DIR>/CommerceReferenceStore/Store/Storefront/META-INF/MANIFEST.MF to add new web module
    ATG-Web-Module: j2ee-apps/Storefront/store.war j2ee-apps/Storefront/sample.war j2ee-apps/Storefront/storedocroot.war
    j2ee-apps/Storefront/assemblerSearchResultsSample.war
    4. Deployed using cim
    From CIM, selected [3] Application Assembly & Deployment
    Entered ear file name - ATGProduction.ear
    Then select server instance - ATGProduction
    Select JBoss Server to use - ATGProduction
    [D] Deploy Production with a Server Lock Manager ATGProduction.ear to JBoss
    - Done
    [R] Register Datasources on JBoss - Done
    [A] Add database driver to app server classpath - Done
    [P] Post Deployment Actions on JBoss - Done
    And restarted server.
    When I tried to access crs/storeus, I got following error

    Hi,
    This is not an issue caused by having multiple wars inside same ear.
    This looks like a runtime exception when trying to render the jsp (The jsp is compiled to a sevlet and the inside the service method of the servlet you are getting this exception). Double check you jsp for the possible cause of this exception.

  • Can new folder be added into a war using jar commands?

    Hi All,
    I am working on an installer creation attempt to make some changes on a war at the client side to inject my changes into it. As a result i am in need to modify the war using jar commands and have found some success.
    I user the following command.
    D:\MyWarLab>jar uf webtop.war customThis command helped me in adding my changes inside a folder named 'custom' placed at location 'D:\MyWarLab' into the 'custom' folder inside my 'webtop.war'.
    Now this worked as expected since the 'custom' folder was already present inside the war.
    Now my next step is to inject a new folder named 'customA' inside
    webtop.war ->WEB-INF -> classes -> com -> application. This customA folder would contain the java class files i have created.The customA folder does not already exist at the above mentioned location, hence the need to create it.
    I have not been able to find a jar command to add new folders at desired locations of the war.
    Could you please validate my attempt and suggest a command to fulfil my requirement.

    Now this worked as expected since the 'custom' folder was already present inside the war.No. It worked because 'custom' existed in the file system as a directory with files under it. Whether it was already in the war is irrelevant.
    This customA folder would contain the java class files i have created. The customA folder does not already exist at the above mentioned location, hence the need to create it.If it exists on the disk you can add it to the war with the jar uf command.
    I have not been able to find a jar command to add new folders at desired locations of the war.You've already found it!

  • Dreamweaver cs4 or mx2004 may built .war or .jar files for deployment in a jsp server (Tomcat) ? If no, and use Dreamweaver  how do these files ?

    Dreamweaver cs4 or mx2004 may built .war or .jar files for deployment in a jsp server (Tomcat) ? If no, and use Dreamweaver  how do these files ?

    if I use Eclipse IDE for compilation[make *.war & *.jar files from *.java like claimBeans.java], I must use also Eclipse for upload/deploy ? Or for upload ONLY I may use and dreamweaver ? The jsp section of dreamweaver, is for app not require compilation, like from Code from:JSP STANDARD TAG LIBRARY , only ?
    Basically whatever I may do with "JavaBeans", "Servlets" etc (*.java files) needed to get compiled, I may also do it with JSP STANDARD TAG LIBRARY etc NOT NEEDED Compilation, so if I do not understand how to compile&deploy *.war & *.jar files , I may use instead the latter way ?

  • How to call a java application in a jar which is in a war file of a ear ?

    So sorry to cross post, but no response in other topics.....
    Please help!
    I have a Ear file which contains a war file.
    xx.ear/META-INF
    xx.ear/YY.war
    and the YY.war has the following structure:
    YY.war/META-INF
    YY.war/WEB-INF
    YY.war/WEB-INF/classes
    YY.war/WEB-INF/classes/com/
    YY.war/WEB-INF/classes/com/mycompany/
    YY.war/WEB-INF/classes/com/mycompany/MyClass.class
    MyClass.class is a java application which has a main method.
    how can I call this MyClass applicaiton from the xx.ear??
    java -???? com.mycompany.MyClass ??
    Please help because I have a Unix cron job need to access this class externally outside AppServer. Thx!!

    an ear file is a standard jar with a different extension. You may
    be able to get away with just adding a manifest file to it that
    specifies the main class (make it an executable jar with a different
    extension).
    I don't know if this will handle the nested war file though. It may.

  • Classloading [EAR] - [webapp.war+ejb.jar]

    Hi.
    I've got a problem with the classloader hierarchy in WL 6.0.
    When I deploy my war/ejb application as an EAR, everything works fine.
    But I want (for several reasons) to deploy
    EJB jars and WebApp wars (or exploded Web Apps) seperately.
    WL 6.0 EJB classloader doesn't export remote/home interfaces and
    helper classes,
    so my web app can't find them.
    When I include that interfaces/classes in my Web App, I get
    occasionally ClassCastExceptions (I assume depending on classloader
    caching).
    Is there a way to configure the classloader hierarchy, or do you have
    any other solution for this?
    Thanks,
    Roman

    Hello,
    I have a big application to do.
    So, one solution should be to use an EAR for one
    module, containing the WAR for the web-tier and the
    EJB-JAR for the business-tier.
    It would be better doing like this than creating a
    big WAR, in order to avoid to deploy a big WAR when a
    modification is done in one module.Are you using local EJBs or remote EJBs? The only way for a war to talk to a local EJB is to package the war along with the ejb-jar in an EAR file because they need to be collocated. You can not simply bundle EJB classes in a war file.
    If you are using remte EJBs, then you can package the EJB client view classes along with the servlets and JSPs in the war file and deploy the war separately. But again your war will be one big war.
    If your EJBs are just entity beans, then Java EE 5 (see http://weblogs.java.net/blog/ss141213/archive/2005/12/using_java_pers.html) allows you some nice options.
    >
    What about the problem of the session ?
    In fact, I have to declare a context-root for one
    EAR.
    And at each context-root is created an object
    HttpSession on the server.
    So, I have some questions about this :
    - How can I configure my WARs in order to use only
    one HttpSession object for every WARs ?
    There is no standard way to do this. Relying on any application server specific feature can only make your app non-portable. So I strongly recommend you not to do this.
    - Can I put multiple WARs in one EAR ?Of course you can.
    If yes, what about the context-root ? This solution would resolve
    the session problem.Can't be solved using any standard way. So I suggest you stick to one big war, if that's what your business requirement is.To speed up development-deployment-test cycle, any appserver allows a rapid deployment option where in you can deploy incremental changes to server. Use this facility during development. DON'T sacrifice portability of your app by using any product specific configuration that you may not find any where else.
    Thanks,
    Sahoo

  • How to access ejb jar in ear package from other war web package?

    How to access ejb in jar packed in ear package from other war web package?

    Typically you would just look the EJB Home up in JNDI. If you're
    looking for example code, the medrec example in WLS 8.1 or petstore has
    plenty of webapps calling EJBs.

  • Ears, wars, support jars, and CLASSPATH

    I am trying to migrate an application from WLS 5.1 to 6.1. There are 25
    EJB jars with an equal number of support jars, most of which are referenced
    by multiple EJBs. There are also a large number of jsps, and html pages.
    I have tried packaging an ear that contains the 25 ejb jars, a war file
    containing the web pages. I have attempted to include the support jars in
    the ear as well.
    In all attempts, the only way I get class references sastisfied is to
    include all the jars on the system CLASSPATH. But this defeats the purpose
    of packaging, since none of the components referenced in the system
    CLASSPATH will be re-deployable.
    The online documents refer to separate class loaders and classpaths for the
    war and ejbs, but no detail as to how classes are found by the loaders.
    Unless I put all the jars into the CLASSPATH, jsp pages cannot reference the
    EJBs, and EJBs are unable to reference other EJBs.

    Thanks,
    Now if I could just get Webgain Visual Cafe to allow me to include the
    Classpath entries in the generated manifests for the EJB jars.

    You need to mangle all the Manifest files within the EAR and EJB-JARs and
    WAR to get the right thing to happen. Check out this PDF on Sun's site:
    http://java.sun.com/j2ee/j2ee-1_3-pfd4-spec.pdf
    section 8.1.1.2
    I don't entirely understand all the restrictions and formatting -- Ihaven't
    found an example ear file out there that implements a non-trivial case.

    I am trying to migrate an application from WLS 5.1 to 6.1. There are
    25
    EJB jars with an equal number of support jars, most of which arereferenced
    by multiple EJBs. There are also a large number of jsps, and htmlpages.
    I have tried packaging an ear that contains the 25 ejb jars, a war file
    containing the web pages. I have attempted to include the support jarsin
    the ear as well.
    In all attempts, the only way I get class references sastisfied is to
    include all the jars on the system CLASSPATH. But this defeats thepurpose
    of packaging, since none of the components referenced in the system
    CLASSPATH will be re-deployable.
