Doing a commandline callout from OSB

How should one do a command-line call out from an OSB proxy service, would one just do a java callout and pass it on from there? The documentation seems to recommend against it because it will require threads, but I'm not sure how else one would accomplish something like this.
What I need to do is pass a file to gpg and then use the returned file for further processing.

Ok, you might be right. I guess there must be other implementations for PGP in Java.If there are we have been unable to find them, and they very well might suffer from the same drawbacks as bouncycastle.
I would say there isn't anything useful on command-line, but our preferences are probably very different. Involving command-line logic has its disadvantages like difficult deployment, potential painful migration (platform dependency), security related problems ... But if you don't mind, go for it.Those problems are true no matter what for any project of at least interesting complexity. and command-line invocations are great solution for all of them. The interface tends to be very simple, just the command name and some parameters which makes it much easier to build replacements if it is truly needed, and deployment is usually eased by having some kind of installer. The only potential problem is one of scalability.
Which still leaves me with how to do it properly, since invoking the command line from Java seems to necessitate threads, which the OSB recommends against for Java callouts. Does that warning still hold if all the spawned threads must complete before the function returns?

  • Validation failed for ArchiveClassLoaderDerivedType- Java callouts from OSB

    Even though jar file for java classes are present, I am receiving the following error sometimes:
    com.bea.wli.config.component.NotFoundException: Validation failed for ArchiveClassLoaderDerivedType ..Referenced component (ArchiveClassLoaderDerivedType ../../Java/.._ArchiveClassLoaderDerivedType) not found.
    When I bounce the server then it works, but I can't bounce the server in production. Do anybody know why this is happening?

    Unfortunately ALSB/OSB does not seem to honour JAR files packaged in your JAR and referenced by the manifest Class-Path attribute. As well, the JAR files deployed into a project cannot reference each other. As such, you either have to open the library JAR and stick it into the one you are deploying or to put it on the server classpath via the domain lib (you do not need to edit the start scripts). This is definitely a hole in the capabilities of OSB.

    Which JAR should i import and where it is located?
    My OSB Home is C:\OSB11.1.1.5

    If I have this java callout class implementation:
    public static void logMessage(String applicationname, String logginglevel, Object logmsg, String completemessage) {
    System.out.println("AppName: " + applicationname);
    System.out.println("Level : " + logginglevel);
    System.out.println("Clazz : " + logmsg.getClass().getName());
    System.out.println("Logmsg : " + logmsg.toString());
    System.out.println("Compl. : " + completemessage);
    I get this output on the console:
    <2012-02-10 15:39:55 CET> <Notice> <Stdout> <000000> <AppName: ALSB logger app>
    <2012-02-10 15:39:55 CET> <Notice> <Stdout> <000000> <Level : FATAL>

    From the Proxy service I am doing this java callout:
    Java Callout to <logMessage>
    Parameters
    java.lang.String "ALSB logger app"
    java.lang.String "FATAL"
    java.lang.Object $body
    java.lang.String "This is the actual message that goes along with the body xml"
    Note! I am not trying to cast the "Object" param3 to anything - just doing a toString() on it (since it is going to be logged and not changed/altered).
    Also note that the code is running on a ALSB 9.2.x - not 11g

    My java class contains 2 parameters and return a string , when i am running the java program its working fine where as my osb is not returning anything.
    I am passing the values to my parameters as xs:string('Transmission') and xs:string('sub_battery') , i tried in different ways of to pass the value to both the parameters still not returning anything.
    please help me out in resolving this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

    if you put logging in the java methods, do you see this output, in other words, does the call from osb to java work ?

  • Seeking recommendations for handling large binary documents with security(preferable) for inbound and outbound scenarios from OSB- SOA and SOA- OSB

    Hi,
    I am currently working on a project with the following requirements
    1. Client transfers binary document (between 1-20MB in size) from OSB proxy to SOA composite to Content Management system
    2. Client retrieves binary document (between 1-20MB in size) from Content Management system to SOA composite to OSB proxy
    In otherwords, a inbound and outbound integration.
    What I have tried so far and my results:
    Scenario A
    1. Enabled MTOM on SOA composite by attaching wsmtom policy
    2. Created an OSB business service and consumed the SOA composite application
    3. Enabled MTOM on OSB proxy and business service and configured it to pass by reference
    Scenario B
    1. Enabled MTOM and security on SOA composite by attaching wsmtom policy and SAML policy
    2. Created an OSB business service and consumed the SOA composite application
    3. Enabled MTOM on OSB proxy and business service and configured it to pass by reference
    I have a demo integration setup that writes a binary document to a file using the above steps. My SOA composite has a file adapter that writes the binary data to an external file and it is exposed as a web service with a simple WSDL definition that has an inline XSD schema with an single element of base64binary type. I have added a mediator that maps this base64binary element node to the file adapter's input node.
    Result for Scenario A with file size less than 1 MB:
    Flawless execution with sub-second response times
    Result for Scenario A with file size of 8MB
    First attempt: SOA composite faults with database transaction related error, solved by increasing JTA timeout
    Second attempt: Flawless execution, but file transfer took over 100 seconds to complete. This is very poor performance and my suspicions are that this cannot be the expected behaviour, but I dont know the internal workings of the SOA composite and why its taking this long.
    Result for Scenario B:
    The OSB business service does not accept/recognize the SAML policy in the WSDL and suggests to configure OWSM policies manually, but OWSM policy in OSB does not have the wsmtom policy. Regardless of this, any permutation of MTOM + WSS security in this integration scenario either did not work outright or MTOM optimization was not happening ie binary data was materalizing in the message body.
    I have only about 3 weeks left to implement a viable solution and the closest ive come to a solution is Scenario A but that +100 second response time for an 8MB file is really worrying.
    I would appreciate any level of guidance, recommendations or suggestions as to how I go about tackling this problem.
    Thanks
    regards,
    Johnny

    I think this is due to the underlying mechanism of weblogic classloading..
    You can contact oracle support @ https://support.oracle.com to report issues. Roughly this is the process .
    1- get the Oracle Customer Support Identifier (CSI) for the client you are working for.
    2- Create a user profile quoting the CSI. This will send an approval request to oracle support admins at your client.
    3- Get the oracle support admins at your client site to approve your request for support access.
    4-Once they approve , you can access the support site and raise service requests.

  • [OSB1031] how to call a RESTful service from OSB with authentication

    Hi all,
    I called successfully a RESTful service from OSB.
    We have a business service, named OrderTracer, that wraps the call to the RESTful service.
    The RESTful service requires an authentication so we are trying to find out how the OSB business service should authenticate itself against the RESTful service.
    In addition the RESTful service accepts username/password coded as base64.
    So we defined a Service Account with static resource type and we added the reference to this service account in the business service.
    But when the OSB business service calls the RESTful service, we got an error:
    <fault>
    <con:fault xmlns:con="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/context">

    <con:node>RouteNode</con:node>
    <con:path>response-pipeline</con:path>
    </con:location>
    </con:fault>
    </fault>
    Does anyone have any hint ?
    Any clue would be of great help.

  • Need help to connect tibco jms queues from OSB

    Hi,
    We have a requirement in our project "to connect tibco JMS Queues from OSB".
    The Queres are created by some othes in remote system, they provided us the details to connect the Queue. the detail are:
    Queue Name :EXT_WEALTHHUB.TO_EXT.SYNC.REQ
    Jndi Factory :SSLQueueConnectionFactory
    and hostName , PORT
    Credentails are provided.
    We entered the same details in Business service in transport page by choosing 'jms' as protocol and EndpointURI as.
    "jms://100.10.XX.YY:1234/SSLQueueConnectionFactory/EXT_WEALTHHUB.TO_EXT.SYNC.REQ"
    And we created a service account to maintain the credentials and browsed the same at service account in the business service.
    In JMS Transport Page we selected
    Response Queue : One for all Request URI's
    Response Pattern : JMS CorrelaltionID
    Response UI :jms://100.10.XX.YY:1234/SSLQueueConnectionFactory/EXT_WEALTHHUB.TO_EXT.SYNC.RESP
    when we are trying to establish a connection with the above queue getting

  • [OSB1031] how to call a RESTful service from OSB

    Hi all,
    I need to call a RESTful service from OSB.
    The RESTful URL service is http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/api/ordertracer and has been implemented in IIS.
    The service accepts a xml string message as input and returns an HttpStatusCode.
    So I started defining a business service (named OrderTracer):
    Service Type: Any XML Service
    Endpoint URI: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/api/ordertracer
    HTTP Request Method:POST
    Or should I define instead a business service (named OrderTracer2) as following ?
    Service Type = Messaging Service
    Request Message Type = None
    Response Message Type = Text
    Endpoint URI: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/api/ordertracer
    HTTP Request Method:POST
    When I try to test the business service (the first one named OrderTracer) from OSB test console I got an error:
    <con:metadata xmlns:con="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/test/config">
    <tran:headers xsi:type="http:HttpResponseHeaders" xmlns:http="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports/http" xmlns:tran="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <http:Connection>close</http:Connection>
    <http:Content-Length>315</http:Content-Length>
    <http:Content-Type>text/html; charset=us-ascii</http:Content-Type>
    <http:Date>Wed, 03 Oct 2012 14:26:39 GMT</http:Date>
    <http:Server>Microsoft-HTTPAPI/2.0</http:Server>
    </tran:headers>
    <tran:response-code xmlns:tran="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports">3</tran:response-code>
    <tran:response-message xmlns:tran="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports">Not Found</tran:response-message>
    <tran:encoding xmlns:tran="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports">us-ascii</tran:encoding>
    <http:http-response-code xmlns:http="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports/http">404</http:http-response-code>
    </con:metadata>
    Could I test that RESTful service from business service test console or should I test it from a service callout within a proxy service ?
    Thanks in advance for any hints!

    Hi,
    There's a sample on JSON REST here...

  • Dynamic Service Invocation from OSB

    Hi,
         I have around 50 services in SOA Suite.  I have to invoke these 50 services dynamically from OSB service based on the input parameters.
         For example, The OSB proxy service will receive the input in the below format
                           <ServiceName>POService</ServiceName>
                          <OperationName>CreatePO</OperationName>
                           <ServiceURL>http://hostA:8011/PO/POService</POService>
                            <Payload>{XML Payload}</Payload>
         Based on the input, it will invoke the  POService using the ServiceURL, OperationName and the XML Payload.
         To implement this, i created proxy based on WSDL for the above message structure. I also created one BS based on Any SOAP.  The proxy will do the below activity
                         1) Extract all the details (url, payload, operation name) from the input
                         2) Replace the XMLpayload with $body
                         3) Use Route action to route it to BS. In the Route Request, i'm doing the below
                                  a) Using Routing Option to Set the URI using <ServiceURL>
                                  b) Using Insert Action setting the OperationName in $outbound/service/operation
    When i tested the service, i'm able to dynamically invoke the target BPEL services whichever has only one operation in the WSDL. But it is failing when i invoke the services which has multiple operation in the wsdl. The request is going to BPEL service and failing with "Operation Unknown" error though i could see in the trace the operation is set correctly in the $outbound
    Pls. let me know if anybody has done this or any idea on what is the issue here
    Thanks!
    Suresh

    $operation is mapped into HTTP SOAPAction header (for SOAP 1.1) in business services. Biz service uses the associated WSDL to do the mapping.
    Hence, if the $operation contains something that is not in the Biz WSDL, the SOAPAction header is not formed, and the backend service cannot figure our the operation.
    The backends that have only one operation, may not check the SOAPAction header, hence those do work.
    You'll have to form SOAPAction HTTP header manually, based on some mapping table that you'll have to create for those services.

  • Exiting from OSB pipeline when application error occurs

    Hi
    My proxy exposes 3 operations to the consumers though WSDL with different inputs and similar output formats. For all these 3 operations there is a common service to be called before actually get into the operational branch that i created for handling these operations. so the message flow would be like below:
    pipelinepair1 -> stage1 in pipeline1 ->service callout -> opeartional branch.
    I am manipulating the response n respone line of pipeline1 for all the operations as its similar strcuture. If an application error arises in service callout the error will be in the body. so if the error raise i should directly exit from message flow in service callout itself wthout proceeding to operational branch. So i tried with reply action, though i am existing from OSB its not going into response pipeline of pipelinepair1. How can i handle this scenario? i don't want to put the same thing in service callout response pipeline again. Please let me know your insights.
    Thanks
    Siva

    This could be done in different ways... why you need to manipulate the response in response pipeline only.
    When your service call out fails do a 'Raise error' action.. and process the reply in stage error handler which will complete with a "reply with failue ( or success) action. if you have not configured an stage error handler, you need to do this in the service error handler.
    As this is an error case it is apt you handle this at the error pipeline( stage or service error handler) rather than the response pipeline.

  • RESTful webservices invocation from OSB.

    Can some one please explain the best way to develop the OSB service to invoke the Restful services.
    1. Only proxy service is enough to handle the request, no need of business service?
    2. when moving the code from one env to other, we use a business service to update endpoint url which is the common approach we generally follow, to make the osb service loosely coupled. how to use the business service when invoking the restservice? does we have the base uri value in the transport url and will get appended with the relative-uri value which we frame as part of the request in the outbound variable in the proxy settings?
    3. when invoking the rest service do we need to append all the request message to the url itself or the request can be passed separately as request body and the main rest uri will have only the key fields as part of the relative-uri?
    4. If we receive huge request message does the URL support the entire request?
    5. how the response/error will be returned when calling the Restful webservice?
    I am assuming this appraoch. Can some one please confirm does this approach works with RESTful service invocation from OSB.
    Request processing:
    Source System request-> Proxy Service -> Transformation to end system specific -> Business service (with base-uri -> http://mainappl.com/web/cmr/{relative-uri from outbound transport}) -> endsystem
    Response processing:
    endsystem Response/Error -> Business Service -> Proxy Service -> transformation to source system specific -> source system.
    Please advice which is the best approach to follow while invoking the RESTful webservices from OSB.
    Thanks..

    Hi,
    Thanks for the update. Can you please explain the above mentioned approach works or how it should be?
    I have one requirement, can some one explain the implementation for this:
    I have one element which is of type unbound. I need to map this element to a single enelement value by separating each element value with a ;, before that I need to check wheteher this element(s) are present in the request then need to appened all these element values to a single element and the end of this element need to append default values.
    Scenario:
    <student>
    <name>asd</name>
    <address>
    <street>street1</street>
    <street>street2</street>
    <street>street3</street>
    ||
    ||
    </address>
    to be mapped it to:
    <student>
    <field name="NAME">asd</field>
    <field name="ADDRESS">street1;street2;street3;default1;default2;default3</field>
    </student>
    Here need to check if street names are present in the request xml, if yes ned to assign it to ADDRESS as mentioned above if street names present or not need to append the default values at the end to the ADDRESS field.
    Thanks in advance.

  • "Getting started"  for connectivity to OAM from OSB

    I am completely new to OAM IdXml. I need to do POC to make connectivity to OAM for CRUD operations from OSB.
    Where can I start from? Is there any "Getting started" Guide or Any beginer steps to follow to get started?

    I'm very familiar with organizing in iTunes, and I prefer to have iTunes organize my library and COPY any media I add (that way I don't have links to media everywhere).
    iTunes and iPhoto are totally different except that they both start with "i"
    (1) linking to my existing folders and photos
    Advantages:
    Keeping the library file small (so as to keep iPhoto speedy to open/navigate?)
    Preserve folder structure
    Drawbacks:
    Can't remove pics from the hard drive after I've previewed in iPhoto. I would have to preview all the pics in my respective folders, remove the ones I don't want, then import and tag, etc.
    Additional major drawbacks
    In addition to the more difficult import workflow as you note above deleting photo is more difficult (delete in iPhoto and then again from the hard drive outside of iPhoto)
    And upgrading/replacing hardware is much more difficult
    (2) copying the media to the iPhoto Library file. I like this idea because I can "Show package contents" if I want to see my originals, and it keeps everything in a nice, tidy file.
    Drawback (possible): Does this file, when it gets large, take a long time to open, and does iPhoto slow to a crawl? (I have about 80 GBs of photos to import).
    Advantage: I can remove files from the hard drive right from within iPhoto.
    That is a large library - mine has just over 30,000 photos in it which consist of about 50GB of photos (total library is about 72GB) which runs great on a 27" iMac (was getting slow on my old G5 before upgrading to an Intel 3.33 GHz core 2 duo)

  • Invoking RESTful service from OSB

    Hi
    I need to invoke Restful service from OSB11g in order to do that...
    1. I have created Business service with the end point of the RESTful service.
    2. Running the Business service and provided the XML as input in Transport Header--> query-string.. i got the response as bellow:
    <serviceResponse returnCode="-1">
    <statusMessage messageId="Exception" messageType="" severityCode="E">
    <text>
    Required input not supplied. Please revisit your input values and try again.
    </text>
    </statusMessage>
    </serviceResponse>
    Is this the correct way i am doing or am i missing something..???
    Thanks
    Vasu

    Hi Vasu,
    did you solve your issue ?
    I have a similar scenario where I need to call a RESTful service from OSB.
    The RESTful URL service is http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/api/ordertracer and has been implemented in IIS.
    The service accepts a xml string message as input and returns an HttpStatusCode.
    So I started defining a business service (named OrderTracer):
    Service Type: Any XML Service
    Endpoint URI: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/api/ordertracer
    HTTP Request Method:POST
    I tested it from business service test console:
    - in Transport
    -> query-string I put my input xml
    -> http-method: POST
    -> Content-Type: text/xml
    but on execute I got an error:
    <con:metadata xmlns:con="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/test/config">
    <tran:headers xsi:type="http:HttpResponseHeaders" xmlns:http="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports/http" xmlns:tran="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <http:Connection>close</http:Connection>
    <http:Content-Length>315</http:Content-Length>
    <http:Content-Type>text/html; charset=us-ascii</http:Content-Type>
    <http:Date>Wed, 03 Oct 2012 15:07:38 GMT</http:Date>
    <http:Server>Microsoft-HTTPAPI/2.0</http:Server>
    </tran:headers>
    <tran:response-code xmlns:tran="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports">3</tran:response-code>
    <tran:response-message xmlns:tran="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports">Not Found</tran:response-message>
    <tran:encoding xmlns:tran="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports">us-ascii</tran:encoding>
    <http:http-response-code xmlns:http="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports/http">404</http:http-response-code>
    </con:metadata>
    May I ask you to provide me any hints ?
    Thanks in advance for any help

  • Timeout from OSB to Intalio

    Hi
    In my project, Intalio calles services hosted on OSB. The read timeout set in Intalio is 6 minutes (360 seconds).
    OSB calls backend and sends response back to Intalio server within 10 seconds. We logged both request and response payloads in OSB and confirmed this.
    Strangely, most of the times Intalio does not receive the response at all! After waiting for 6 minutes, it throws read timeout error.
    Test run: We had a run of 21 requests from Intalio to OSB. All 21 processed inside OSB and logs show that responses was sent back for all 21 requests. But in Intalio we received only one response and all other instances threw timeout error.
    Whenever Intalio requests are invoked, they are passed to OSB immediately. There is no lag between requests passed from Intalio to OSB. But somehow we don't get any response from OSB even after 6 minutes.
    Any idea on this?
    Update: Flow is: Intalio--->LoadBalancer-->OSB

    Hi i have followed the following steps which is specified in this thread
    You need to follow below steps...
    add a java parameter to the OSB server. Go to domains\osb_domain\bin folder and edit the setDomainEnv file and add this line to this file. set JAVA_PROPERTIES=-Dplatform.home=%WL_HOME% -Dwls.home=%WLS_HOME% -Dweblogic.home=%WLS_HOME% -Dcom.sun.xml.namespace.QName.useCompatibleSerialVersionUID=1.0
    Step 2 is to replace the bpel jars in the bpel transport ear. Go folder osb_10.3\lib\transports and open bpel10gtransport.ear and replace the following jar files orabpel.jar, orabpel-common.jar , xmlparserv2.jar and oc4jclient.jar with the ones you can find in the soa suite 10.1.3 home.
    But still i am getting the error.
    I am using WLS (10.0).Is it compatible with bpel-10g protocol, because i have already called a sync BPEL process with http protocol and it worked?This thread talks about WLS(9.2)
