DOM object in java

In a tutorial I saw that xmlDoc.documentElement.node object has a text method, but in java version such method doesn't exist. Has it another name?
Thank you.

Which tutorial were you looking at?
There is a text node which you could
append to a element node.
MS has a text method which is like a
normalize() followed by getNodeValue().

  • Nullpointer exception while multiple users reading from XML DOM object

    We are getting a null pointer exception when we are trying to read from a Static XML DOM object . We are getting the exception in weblogic 7.1 very rarely but started getting the exception in weblogic 9.2 more frequently. When multiple users are trying to access the Static variable we are getting null pointer exception. I think it is a memory related issue. Making the whole method synchronized is resolving the issue. But that is not the right thing to do. Can any one know what might be the issue here?
    I am giving the code and the XML. I have tried to give the latest Xerces parser from the Apache site but got the same exception. Please help me in this regard.
    The XML is also provided below along with the code.

  • Dynamic Action on DOM object not working

    Thru a dynamic action I am executing PL/SQL Code that creates additional item using APEX_ITEM.CHECKBOX (see code on bottom). Thru another Dynamic action, I am trying to execute additional Java. I have it set to fire like this:
    Event: Click
    Type: DOM Object
    DOM Object: document.forms[0].f11 (this matches the APEX_ITEM.checkbox fxx value)
    Just trying a simple alert("hi"). doesn't work. Am I missing something?
    DECLARE
    l_hold_table_name varchar2(1000) := :P1223_HOLD_TABLE_NAME;
    l_hold_html varchar2(32000) := '';
    l_hold_session_state varchar2(32000) := '';
    CURSOR get_columns IS
    select b.column_heading, b.column_name
    from dual
    BEGIN
    l_hold_html := '<DIV><TABLE border="2"><THEAD><TR><TH>' || l_hold_table_name ||
    '</TH></TR></THEAD>';
    FOR x in get_columns LOOP
    l_hold_html := l_hold_html || '<TR><TD>' || APEX_ITEM.CHECKBOX(20,x.column_name,null) || x.column_heading || '</TD></TR>';
    END LOOP;
    l_hold_html := l_hold_html || '</TABLE><DIV>';
    :P1223_HOLD_INNERHTML := l_hold_html;
    END;

    Hi,
    first your code in example does not compile.
    CURSOR get_columns IS
    select b.column_heading, b.column_name
    from dual
    There is a ; missing and even with that this query is not OK.
    If you have a problem with DOM selector, then try jquery selector:
    Event:Click
    Selection Type: jQuery Selector
    jQuery Selector: input:checkbox[name*='f11']
    For testing I created a test page with one dynamic PLSQL region and following source:
    DECLARE
      l_hold_table_name varchar2(1000) := 'MYTABLE';
      l_hold_html varchar2(32000) := '';
      l_hold_session_state varchar2(32000) := '';
      CURSOR get_columns IS
      select
        'My Checkbox' column_heading, 'a' column_name
      from dual ;
    BEGIN
      l_hold_html := '<TABLE border="2"><THEAD><TR><TH>'
                              || l_hold_table_name
                              || '</TH></TR></THEAD>';
      FOR x in get_columns LOOP
        l_hold_html := l_hold_html ||
                                '<TR><TD>' ||
                                APEX_ITEM.CHECKBOX(20,x.column_name,null) ||
                                x.column_heading ||
                                '</TD></TR>';
      END LOOP;
      l_hold_html := l_hold_html || '</TABLE>';
      htp.p( l_hold_html );
    END;And Dynamic Action with properties as described above (only that in my case name of the checkbox is f20)
    You can see working example here : http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=60428:4

  • How to expose something as a DOM object in a browser window

    Hi all,
    I am working on a E-Learning platform which adheres to the SCORM Runtime Environment (http://www.adlnet.org/library/documents/scorm/scormexamples/SCORM1_2_SampleRTE1_2.zip).
    From the SCORM Runtime Environment spec [page 3-6]:
    "(1) The LMS (Learning Managment System) must launch the SCO [Sharable Content Object] in a browser window that is a child window or a child frame of the LMS window that exposes the API Adapter as a Document Object Model (DOM) Object. The API Adapter must be provided by the LMS.
    (2) It is the responsibility of the SCO to recursively search the parent and/or opener window hierarchy until the API adapter is found."
    I think that I know how to do (2), but can anybody help with (1) ?
    Thanks

    well half an hour after posting this question I found out the ADL has finally put a sample implementation written in Java onto the web (http://www.adlnet.org/library/documents/scorm/scormexamples/SCORM1_2_SampleRTE1_2.zip). I think this will cover all of my questions ;-)

  • Special characters in XML built using the DOM object

    I am using the DOM object to build xml but I am having problems with special characters. I have a Element object that I create attributes in. Most special characters like the &, ", or ' are translated for me (amp; quot;, acute; put a & in front of those, if I do it here the browser will translate them into the logical character) but I am having a problem with the character. The DOM object does not translate this. If I do it my self to(eacute; same here add a & in front) before adding the string to the attribute then the DOM object translates it to (amp;eacute; add a & in front of the amp; not in front of the eacute;). As you can see the DOM object translates the & instead of recognizing that it is a HTML character. Can anyone give me a hand?

    I am building this XML in a servlet so ,right, DOM does process XML (even though a valid HTML file can be loaded into a DOM object) but if you build XML using DOM then write the XML out using PrintWriter and Transformer objects this will cause the XML to print out in your browser. If you view source on this XML you will see that the DOM object has translated all special characters to there &xxxx; equivalent. For a example: when the string (I know "cool" java) gets loaded into a attribute using the DOM object then wrote back out it looks like (I know &xxx;cool&xxx; java) if you view the source in your browser. This is what it should do, but the DOM object is not change the to the "&xxxxx;". This servlet is acting as a gateway between a Java API and a windows asp. The asp will call the servlet expecting to get XML back and load it directly into a DOM object. When the windows DOM object gets the xml that I am returning in this servlet is throws a exception "invalid character" because the was not translated to &xxxx; like the other characters were. According to the book HTML 4 in 24 hours (and other references) the eacute; or #233; are how you say "" in HTML or XML. How do you say it?

  • How to attach a DOM object as stream to SOAP message?

    Hi friends,
    I want to attach a parsed XML document (DOM object) to SOAP message, but but I do not want to attach it as a String, instead, I want to attach it as a binary format, given a DOM object.
    Any one can help tell me what can I do for it? and what is the content type it should be?
    Thanks!

    I knew the Java Doc API, actually I can attach text string format, but since what I want is binary data (i.e, serialize form of DOM stream), it does not seem to work as attachment.
    1).if I use:
    attachment.setContent(doc, "application/octec-stream");it throws:
    javax.activation.UnsupportedDataTypeException: no object DCH for MIME type application/octec-stream
    2). if I use:
    attachment.setContent(doc, "application/xml");it still throws:
    javax.activation.UnsupportedDataTypeException: no object DCH for MIME type application/octec-stream
    3). if I use serailized form of the document String docString = DOMUtil.serializeDocument(doc);
    attachment.setContent(docString, "text/xml");I checked the docString, which is like this form:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <a xmlns="http://foo.org">
    <b>text</b>
    </a>
    but it throws:
    java.io.IOException: Unable to run the JAXP transformer on a stream null
    3). it only works if I use serailized form of the document, and set content-type to "text/plain"
    String docString = DOMUtil.serializeDocument(doc);
    attachment.setContent(docString, "text/plain");Any idea what is wrong here?
    Thanks!

  • Converting DOM object tree to Swing Tree

    I'm interested in converting a DOM object tree into a Swing TreeModel Tree.
    What prominent utilities exist for converting DOM to Swing Models in Java 1 and/or Java 2
    This seems to be a very general requirement. Please let me know if any utility code is provided for easing my task. Its Urgent !!

    The JAXM API does not supply a easy way to do this. I ended up writing a class to convert between a DOM and the SOAP Elements required by JAXM. Seems like a big oversite to me...

  • PL/SQL Object Type - Java oracle.jbo.domain

    PL/SQL Object Type <-> Java oracle.jbo.domain
    can anybody help me, getting my domains to work?
    Following scenario:
    in pl/sql we have an object type called MULTI_LANGUAGE. This type is used for storing multilingual texts as nested table in one(!) column.
    So the object MULTI_LANGUAGE contains a member variable LANGUAGE_COLLECTION of type LANGUAGE_TABLE, which itself is a nested table of objects
    of the type LANGUAGE_FIELD (this again is only a language id and the corresponding content)
    Also the methods setContent(langID, langContent) and getContent(langId) are defined on Object MULTI_LANGUAGE.
    For example: Table having primary key, 2 other columns and one column of object type MULTI_LANGAGE (=nested table of objects)
    |ID|Column1|Column2|  multilingual Column  |
    |--|---------------------------------------|
    |  |       |       |  -------------------  |

    Thanks for your suggestion, but it seems to me as if there is one level missing.
    in pl/sql I have following structure:
    Struct MULTI_LANGUAGE (Object type) - outermost
      Array LANGUAGE_TABLE (nested table type)
        Struct LANGUAGE_FIELD (Object type simple) - innermostthe reason why i had to wrap another struct around the array was because it is not possible to define methods on a nested table. this is only possible on objects.
    on the outermost object type (which holds the array of language fields) I needed to define following 2 methods for direct access:
    getContent (langId in number) returns varchar2
    setContent (langId in number, langContent in varchar2)
    I would like to rebuild the same structure in java, because newly written java code should live in perfect harmony with legacy pl/sql code ;-)
    Both applications (Java and pl/sql) have to access the same data as long as migration to java goes on.
    Is this nested structure too much for a Domain?
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks again, Christian

  • How to manipulate a javascript object in java?

    Hi, I am fiddling with the java scripting interface. As I understand the rhino engine is packaged with the jdk but what I don't understand is how does one reconcile the objects one gets from their engine (e.g. sun.org.mozilla.javascript.internal.ScriptableObject) versus the ones in the rhino api (e.g. org.mozilla.javascript.ScriptableObject)?
    Is the one in the jdk heavily modified or wrappered up to suit their javax.scripting interface?
    More specifically, how do I manipulate javascript objects from java?
    e.g. suppose I have this java code:
    ScriptEngineManager mgr = new ScriptEngineManager();
    ScriptEngine js = mgr.getEngineByName("js");
    jsEngine.eval("var foo = { x : 1, y : 'hello', z : false };");
    Object o = jsEngine.get("foo");Now o is instanceof sun.org.mozilla.javascript.internal.NativeObject, which is a subclass of a bunch of other classes in the s.o.m.j.i namespace. Being internal I can't use these directly.
    Looking at the Rhino API obviously you normally get a org.mozilla.javascript.ScriptableObject and can call the .get() .getIds() methods. But I don't know how to translate the objects I am getting in my actual java code which uses the jdk engine into org.mozilla.javascript objects.
    Is this even possible? Am I misunderstanding something completely? Should I just be using the rhino js jar and not the javax.scripting interface? If so, for what reason is the javax.scripting interface implemented?

    Assuming that you DO want a deep copy, begin with a constructor that takes another hand.
    public Hand( Hand h ) { ...Then for each instance variable, within that constructor:
    this.instVar0 = h.instVar0;
    this.instVar1 = h.instVar1;
    . . .And last, for every reference, make sure there is a constructor (or copy method for arrays) that itself makes a deep copy:
    this.ref0 = new Ref0Type( h.ref0 );

  • Issues in mapping objects from java to flex - using flex4

    Hi,
    I have a class in java which i want to send to flex4 using BlazeDS as middleware. There are a few issues that i am facing and they are:
    When sending the object across (java to flex), the properties with boolean data type having value as true gets converted to properties with value as  false. Even after setting the value to true it still comes as false on flex side. Can't understand why this is happening.
    When sending the list of object containing property with boolean data type, the object on flex side does not show those properties at all. As of there were no boolean properties in that object.
    Last but not the least, When sending List<ContractFilterVO> contractFilterVOs to flex using remote call, the result typecasted to ArrayCollection does not show the holding objects as ContractFilterVOs but as plain default Object though having all the properties send, except the boolean one mentioned in above points. Basically it is not able to typecast the objects in arraycoolection but the same objects gets typecasted when sent individually.
    In all the above points i am using Remote Service through BlazeDS for connectivity with Java. I have done a lot of this stuff in Flex 3 but doing it for the first time in flex 4, is there anything that Flex 4 needs specific. Below is the pasted code for reference purpose.
    Flex Object
    package com.vo
         [RemoteClass(alias="com.vo.ContractFilterVO")]
    public class ContractFilterVO{
         public function ContractFilterVO(){
         public var contractCode:String;
         public var contractDescription:String;
         public var isIndexation:Boolean;
         public var isAdditional:Boolean;
    * Rmote Part of code
    var remoteObject:RemoteObject = new RemoteObject();
    remoteObject.destination="testService";
    remoteObject.addEventListener(ResultEvent.Result,handleResult);
    public function handleResult(event:ResultEvent):void{
         var contarctFilterVOs:ArrayCollection = event.result as ArrayCollection; //Point 2&3 probelem, if list sent form java
         var contarctFilterVO:ContractFilterVO= event.result as ContractFilterVO; //Point 1 probelem, if only single Object of type ContractFilterVO sent form java
    Java Object
    package com.vo
    public class ContractFilterVO implements Serializable
         public function ContractFilterVO(){
         private static final long serialVersionUID = 8067201720546217193L;
         private String contractCode;
         private String contractDescription;
         private Boolean isIndexation;
         private Boolean isAdditional;
    I don't understand what is wron in my code on either side, it looks syntactically right. It would be great anyone could help me point out my mistake here. Waiting for right solutions...
    Thanks and Regards,
    Jigar

    Hi Jeffery,
    Thanks for your reply, it did solve my query @ point 3 as well as point 2 where the objects in arraycollection were not geting converted and boolean properties did not appear when list of an objects were received. And hey, i did have public functions for properties defined java class, just forgot to mention here in post, sorry for that.
    The solution you gave was right, but than what if i have a VO which has multiple List of objects coming from Java, than i would have to create an instance of each type of object on flex side this is too tedious, is'nt it? Is there any better solution... out there.
    And jeffery do you some tricks up your sleeve for this Boolean issues to that i am facing in point 1... Still struggling with this one...
    Anyone out there would be more than welcome to point my mistake, if any and provide tips/tricks or solutions...
    Thanks again to Jeffery...
    Waiting for more solutions sooner...

  • Manipulating C++ Objects in Java Through JNI

    Hi,
    I have some existing C++ classes objects that I would like to access through Java methods. However, if I use a java method to create an instance of a C++ object, and then I want to edit the state of that C++ object through java, how do I reference the correct C++ object.
    For example, if I have a C++ object called Ball, with two variables x and y representing its position and a constructor as well as set methods to set x and y. I then make a java class Ball with the same variables, constructor, and setter methods. But when the java constructor is called, I want the C++ version to be created, and when the java setter methods are called, I want the x and y of the correct C++ Ball instance to change.
    Is this is possible, and if so what are the steps needed?
    Thank you

  • Parsing an XML using DOM parser in Java in Recursive fashion

    I need to parse an XML using DOM parser in Java. New tags can be added to the XML in future. Code should be written in such a way that even with new tags added there should not be any code change. I felt that parsing the XML recursively can solve this problem. Can any one please share sample Java code that parses XML recursively. Thanks in Advance.

    Actually, if you are planning to use DOM then you will be doing that task after you parse the data. But anyway, have you read any tutorials or books about how to process XML in Java? If not, my suggestion would be to start by doing that. You cannot learn that by fishing on forums. Try this one for example:

  • Parsing xml using DOM parser in java

    hi there!!!
    i don have much idea about parsing xml.. i have an xml file which consists of details regarding indentation and spacing standards of C lang.. i need to read the file using DOM parser in java n store each of the attributes n elements in some data structure in java..
    need help as soon as possible!!!

    DOM is the easiest way to parse XML document, google for JDOM example it is very easy to implement.
    you need to know what is attribute, what is text content and what is Value in XML then easily you can parse your document with dom (watch for space[text#] in your XML document when you parse it).
    you get root node then nodelist of childs for root then go further inside, it is easy believe me.
