Doubt in Resource Sheet

Hi,
Greetings!!!
I'm working with resource, I found "available from" and "available to" column  there it shows as 24 hours time for a resource. But i have assigned a calendar as 8 hours working from 8 to 6.
Can any one tell me why it is showing as 24 hours.
Thanks in advance
With Regards,
Haritha

The available from and available to columns are showing information from the Resource Availability, where you can limit a resource's availability to the project by setting dates.  If the resource is assigned outside those dates, they will show as overallocated.
If you want to confirm the resource's working time calendar, click the Change Working Time button in the Resource Information dialog.

  • Timesheet BP not shown in Rollup source under Actual Summary Resource sheet ?

    Hi All, I am trying to roll up time sheet data in Resource sheet, When I am opening Actual Summary Sheet as Resource Manager -> Resource Sheet -> Actual Summary a property pop up window opening. In which Business Process drop down list does not contain any BP ? I am expecting to load Time sheet BP. Can anybody help me out please?

        Hi Rohit ,
    I had copied these .class & .xml files under Myclasses -> oracle.apps.icx and oracle.apps.po and oracle.apps.fnd was same which comes part of the standard OA tutorial.
    I copied same under Myprojects as well.
    you have to decompile the class file into java file and then place it in Myproject directory , also copy all dependency files like BC4J components , and then
    try to run from Jdeveloper .
    Alternatively you can get the entire ICX folder and zip it and add it via library .

  • Work Field In Resource Sheet

    The Work field in the Resource Sheet is calculated total hours for each resource based on the Duration in the Gantt chart. However, I have another field in the Gantt chart named Duration1 and I want Work field in the Resource Sheet to be calculated based
    on Duration1 not Duration. What formula can I use to customize Work field in Resource Sheet?

    Thanks guys! Since, there is no way to keep Duration different from the Actual Duration, I baselined Duration. Now, similarly, I would also like to baseline Work; however, baselined Work doesn't reflect
    input values of Work field. Also, just how Duration and Work data are different in my plan, Actual Duration and Actual Work may also differ. I was able to keep the Work values different from the Duration by changing the Duration task type.
    Is there a way to fix Actual Duration as well so that it's not same as Actual Work?
    Duration = allocated duration to complete the task [Task Type: Fixed Duration]
    Work = time it should take to complete the task [Different from Duration]
    Actual Duration = taken duration to complete the task
    Actual Work = time it took to complete the task
    Also, in Resource Sheet, is there a way to compare Baseline Work with Actual Work for
    each resource as well as Baseline Cost based on Baseline Work with Actual Cost based on Actual Work?
    This would allow us to work in the same plan while comparing the plan (by Start/Finish, Work in Gantt, Work in Resource Sheet, and Cost) before and after implementation. If not, then I guess we can have two copies of the plan (one for before implementation
    and the other for after) with Duration and Work where task type is fixed Duration.
    A few comment:
    baselined Work doesn't reflect input values of Work field : when you
    save a baseline, the behavior is the same for all data copied in the baseline fields. The current value is stored is the corresponding baseline field. Ie when saving baseline n, work is copied in the baselinework n and duration is copied in the baselineduration
    n.
    Actual Work = time it took to complete the task
    : actual work is the effort and not the time it took to complete the task
    is there a way to compare Baseline Work with Actual Work for each resource :  if you split your screen and display the task form with work
    information, you'll see for each assignment work, actual work, baseline work, remaining work. Another way, if you need it timephased, is to use the resource or task usage views and add the baseline, actual and planned work (double clicking the right part of
    your screen).
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there a limit of how many resources can be shared via a single Resource Pool in Project 2010 Professional standalone?

    We have a single master project resource pool of over 150 resources that are shared across let's say 10-15 sub projects or sharer files.
    We are using Microsoft Project Professional (standalone no project server)
    Are you aware of any limitations outside of project server with resource pool and sharing, or should we be using Project server (as I have read a lot of articles about resource pool sharing working better in project server)
    I'd like to get clarification on:
    1. I read that the calendars for resources (of which there could be many shift patterns etc.) should always be created in the master project only, not in the sharer files. In my testing I see that a shared resource also brings the additional calendars from
    the Master Project file - and can be chosen in the calendar column from Resource sheet.
    2. Each sharer file can have it's own specific project calendar, but the resource calendar (used by the assigned resources from the pool) will drive the scheduling (as per normal), unless;
    3. A specific task has a 'Task Calendar' applied to it AND "scheduling ignores resource calendars" is ticked.
    I am trying to find an article that addresses, in detail, the limitations or 'look out fors' in this area.  I have found plenty about how to create and share resources, but this is more troubleshooting.
    Any advice or direction that can be given would be appreciated. Thanks.

    No limit to resources, but linked master and resource pools are at high risk of file corruption if you rename, over-write or move a linked file without removing it from the master and pool first. Files will corrupt, its when not if.
    Master files should never have any resources or tasks in them, only inserted projects.
    I much prefer creating master files with the Link option deselected. This copies all data and consolidates resource info (so no pool needed). I record a macro to create new masters each week. This method has no corruption risk.
    Your alternative now is to experiment with Project Server. By far the best way to prototype a system is to get Project Online through Microsoft, ProjectHosts or Bemo. It will give you access to a vanilla project server very quickly and cost for a few months
    testing is trivial for a few users.
    If you go ahead with a full implementation I strongly recommend getting a qualified Project Server partner to help you implement the full system.

  • Resource Center - Need to change a Local Resource to an Enterprise Resource

    The Resource Record for a resource was accidently deleted.  This resource was still assigned to active project tasks at the time of the delete.  A new Resource Record was created but it has the resource as a Local Resource.  How can I move
    this resource back to the Enterprise Resource Pool?
    As a Local Resource the Assignment Owner field on his assigned tasks are not populating, so he cannot see any tasks on his timesheets.  Also, the resource cannot be assigned to any new project tasks because he cannot be added to the Project Enterprise
    Pool.
    Attempted to remove the Resource Record that was created using Delete Enterprise Objects -> Resources and Users but since the resource is Local and not Enterprise his record is not showing to select it for delete.
    Would the Admin Restore->Enterprise Resource Pool and Calendars functionality put his original record back in place?  I understand only one version of this backup is kept but that should be the version we currently have.  What data might be
    lost using this functionality?  Any chance other users would be adversely impacted?
    We are using Project Pro 2010

    Hi Dennykat,
    As mentionned in your previous post, restoring the resource pool should work, since it is restoring resources with their metadata and with the exact same UID. Thus the deleted and restored enterprise resource should have everything back (assignments, timesheets...).
    Since I never tested such as process, I strongly advice to test it in the dev environment on a simple test case.
    I remember that if also adviced you to recreate the enterprise resource and type in the resource sheet on one of the resource's project the exact enterprise resource name (exact same syntax), so Project should ask you when saving if you want to replace the
    local resource by the enterprise one. Can you confirm that it didn't work?
    Hope this helps.

  • Found a bug? Adding alot of resources to a task creates a local resource on the server.

    Hi Guys,
    I'm working with a client on building a Project Server 2013 environment and I came cross something that struck me as odd. I hope some of you will be able to reproduce the issue and maybe point me into the direction of a hotfix or
    a report that say's it’s a known bug?
    Currently the client is working with a Project Server installment 15.0.4420.1017 and I have reproduced the issue in a 15.0.4481.1005 (March 2013) environment AND on a Project Online tennent.
    I have these resources, all are enterprise resources without any custom fields active (all are specific work resources):
    ABC EDIT Manufacturing Technology HBO
    ABC EDIT Manufacturing Technology JRACAD
    ABC EDIT Manufacturing Technology JRHBO
    ABC EDIT Manufacturing Technology LBO
    ABC EDIT Manufacturing Technology MBO
    ABC EDIT Manufacturing Technology PROM
    ABC EDIT Manufacturing Technology SRACAD
    ABC EDIT Manufacturing Technology STAF
    Now I build a new Project using the standard Enterprise project template that comes with the product.
    I start with a single task that takes me 2 months (or any duration actually). The task is set to fixed duration after this. Now I add all the 8 resources in one go using the dropdown box in the Resource names column in the Tasks summary
    view. I save and publish the project. After this I check the project in and open it with Project Professional.
    When looking at the Resource sheet I see that the following resource is now created as a local resource “ABC EDIT Manufacturin” and not all resource assignments are on the task anymore. The resources ending with “SRACAD” and “STAFF” don’t
    appear to have any assignment anymore.
    Help me out here, am I missing something? Can you reproduce the situation in your environments?
    Kind regards,
    Erik

    Hi Prasanna,
    I am aware of the character limit. However, that pop up doesn't show up when using the situation as described in my post. I did get the message when I added one resource at a time
    and after a while it did tell me I had too much resources on that task. The web version then came with the message:
    "The resource list is too long. A resource list that contains more than 256 characters cannot be edited or deleted on the To line of a message. Use the resource information dialog
    box to edit long resource names."
    However it did not come up in the situation as described above.
    Regarding your suggestions:
    1) Shorter resource names would help for only a short while. Because adding more resources to a single task will again generate the issue. For instance: if I add 30 resources to
    a task, with all a character length of 10 I will run in the same issue. Best practices set aside of course, I know that adding 30 resources to a task is bad mojo.
    2) Project Pro cuts the assigning of resources also, with giving the error message similar to the one above. But rather than creating a new local resource, Pro just assigns the
    task to 6 out of the 8 resources I have added to the task. Which is better, if only the client worked with Project Professional...
    I hope you come up with something during your tests…

  • Master Project Resources

    Hi,
    I have a master project, in that I have added some 25 resources.
    When I try to add those resources in Resource Names field in MS Project, that field is empty(I do not see any resources).
    Why is it so?
    K.Gokulraj

    Hi,
    Are you using Project Server with an Enterprise resource pool? Or a shared resource file?
    The resources must be created in one of the sub-projects, meaning that if you create a task in another sub-project or even if the master plan directly, you might not see it. In the resource sheet, insert the "project" column to see which project
    has which resources.

  • Resource Initial field is read only

    Hi,
    I'm working with project online/project pro and the (enterprise) user resource initials cannot be changed. It is a read only field for any user in the system.  Any idea on how to set custom initials for enterprise resources???
    Regards,
    Wim

    Hi Wim,
    Where are you trying to change the user's initials? If you are trying directly in the project resource sheet in MS Project Pro, then it is indeed impossible since it is an enterprise data. It can be changed :
    Either editing the user's information from PWA, server settings, manage users,
    From the resource center, select the resource(s), open it/them in MS Project Pro and update the initials column.
    Note that the second option is more suitable in case you have many users to update.

  • How to export Resource Graphs/Profiles to Word or Excel

    We are using Primavera Risk Analysis 8.x and we could not find an option on how to generate reports showing resource profiles or how to export them into another software. Has anybody came across such an issue?
    Thanks in advance
    Chris

    As with other Primavera products you can export most data fields out to MS Excel or Word or Access in order to better customize your reports. Charting in Excel is far better for your graphical reports :) If not, you could always import that data back into P6 and run your resource profiles in that software.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Exporting using Export View Contents commandThis method of export is excellent for getting selected information out of Pertmaster for manipulation or viewing in other packages.
    You can use the Export View Contents command from the Gantt Chart or the Resource Sheet.
    Using Export View Contents from the Gantt Chart saves the information displayed in the current columns and the column headings.
    Using Export View Contents from the Resource Sheet saves the information on the usage of the displayed resources between two user defined dates.
    To Export View Contents from the Gantt Chart
    Set up the Gantt Chart columns to display the information that you require. Apply a filter if you wish to export only the information of certain tasks.
    View | Export View Contents.
    Type in the filename. Click on OK.
    To Export View Contents from the Resource Sheet
    Add the required resources to the resource sheet.
    View | Export View Contents.
    Type in the filename. Click on OK.
    Enter the export date range. Click on OK.
    To Export View Contents from the Resource Graph
    You cannot export directly from the resource graph. So add the required resource to the resource sheet and then use export as described above.
  • User visible text in Database or Resource Bundle?
    What is the right approach to store user visible text (UI Lables) in a J2EE web application?
    a. Database
    b. Resource bundle
    The criteria here is the scalability, ease of maintainance.
    Thanks for your help!
    Just to add to the above.
    The choice can also depend on how static are these UI Labels and at what frequency are the updates. If your application allows the administrator or end users to edit the UI Label text, then storing them in the database will give you a lot more flexibility.
    As Justin mentioned, database allows for centralized storage; hence if your application includes other programming technologies like PHP, C/C++, Perl, and PLSQL etc., then the database can act as a single repository that capture all your application translation needs; it also means that you can share the translations between these modules or other applications.
    There is no doubt that resource bundle offers the better performance. If that is a concern, you can consider a hybrid approach, where the resource bundle is generated based on the translations maintained inside the database.
  • Please note that i am seeking some assistance with adding the followng resource: A maximum of 4 resources can be added at an additional cost of $500 per day per resource.
    Hi, Please note that i am seeking some assistance with adding the following resource to a task in Microsoft Project 2010:
    A maximum of 4 resources can be added at an additional cost of $500 per day per resource.
    Hi Clemence,
    Your post has quite little details, but as far as I understand, you want to add 4 resources on a task, each resource costing 500$ a day. Since it is not mentionned if it is generic resources (skill or role) or named resources, I'll assume that it is generic
    resources. Based on this understanding, here is a proposal:
    Go to the resource sheet,
    Create a work generic resource ("type" field set to "work", "generic" field to "yes"), typing in the resource name field the skill name,
    In the max unit field, enter 400% for 4 resources (for just 4 if  your Project 2010 is configured to display units in decimals),
    Since the rate is an hourly rate, make the calculation : 500$ per day / 8 hours a day = 62,5$ per hour,
    Go back to the Gantt Chart, split the window (click "detail" in the view tab of the ribbon),
    Select your task and assign the newly created resource with a given % units.
    Hope this helps.
