Doubt in Stored Procedures

My Prg is
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
String url = "jdbc:odbc:TempDb";
// Get a connection to the database
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url) ;
Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
String createTable = "CREATE TABLE S6 " +
"(name VARCHAR(32), Id INTEGER, Price FLOAT) ";
stmt.executeUpdate(createTable);
stmt.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO S6 VALUES ('French_Roast', 4, 8.9)");
String createProcedure = "create procedure tempPro1 as select * from S6 ,S1" ;
Statement stmtSP = conn.createStatement();
stmtSP.executeUpdate(createProcedure);
CallableStatement cs = conn.prepareCall("{call SHOW_SUPPLIERS}");
ResultSet rsSP = cs.executeQuery();
I am getting error at the line stmtSP.executeUpdate(createProcedure); saying
java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error in CREATE TABLE statement
what is wrong with the line..Can anybody ans me?
thanks

legal means what? I am accessing MS Access
database...Some of the SQL st.. like creating a
table, are already working....If Access complains about the SQL statement, then this doesn't sound like a Java problem to me. Legal = valid for Access

  • Pointbase : How can I create a stored procedure with Pointbase database?

    Hello,
    Excuse me for my english, I'm not anglophone. I try to create a stored procedure.
    This is my file SampleExternalMethods.java :
      import java.sql.*;    //import com.pointbase.jdbc.jdbcInOutDoubleWrapper;          public class SampleExternalMethods    {      // A connection object to allow database callback      static Connection conn = null;      static Statement l_stmt;      static Statement m_stmt;      static CallableStatement m_callStmt = null;      static ResultSet l_rs = null;          public static void main(String[] args)      {        try        {          String url = "jdbc:pointbase:server://localhost/pointbaseDB";          String username = "PBPUBLIC";          String password = "PBPUBLIC";          conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password);          doCreateProcedure();          doInvokeProcedure();        } catch (SQLException e) {          e.printStackTrace();        } finally {          if (m_stmt != null) {            try {              m_stmt.close();            } catch (Exception e) {              e.printStackTrace();            }          }          if (m_callStmt != null) {            try {              m_callStmt.close();            } catch (Exception e) {              e.printStackTrace();            }          }          if (conn != null) {            try {              conn.close();            } catch (Exception e) {              e.printStackTrace();            }          }        }      }                  public static void getCountry(String Iso_Code)      {        try        {          // Query the database for the country iso code          l_stmt = conn.createStatement();          l_rs = l_stmt.executeQuery( "SELECT * FROM countries"          + " WHERE country_iso_code ='" + Iso_Code + "'");          //Affichage du résultat de la requête          l_rs.next();          System.out.print(l_rs.getString(1) + " - ");          System.out.print(l_rs.getString(2) + " - ");          System.out.println(l_rs.getString(3));          // Close the result set          l_rs.close();        } catch (SQLException e) {          e.printStackTrace();        } finally {          if (l_rs != null) {            try {              l_rs.close();            } catch (Exception e) {              e.printStackTrace();            }          }          if (l_stmt != null) {            try {              l_stmt.close();            } catch (Exception e) {              e.printStackTrace();            }          }        }      }            public static void doCreateProcedure() throws SQLException {        // SQL statement to create a stored procedure        String SQL_CREATE_PROC = "CREATE PROCEDURE getCountry(IN P1 VARCHAR(30))"        + " LANGUAGE JAVA"        + " SPECIFIC getCountry"        + " NO SQL"        + " EXTERNAL NAME \"SampleExternalMethods::getCountry\""        + " PARAMETER STYLE SQL";        // Create a SQL statement        m_stmt = conn.createStatement();        // Execute the SQL        m_stmt.executeUpdate(SQL_CREATE_PROC);        // Close the statement        //m_stmt.close();      }          public static void doInvokeProcedure() throws SQLException {        // Create SQL to invoke stored procedures        String SQL_USE_PROC = "{ call getCountry(?) }";        // Create a callable statement with three binding parameters        m_callStmt = conn.prepareCall(SQL_USE_PROC);        m_callStmt.setString(1, "CA");        m_callStmt.executeQuery();        // Close the callable statement        //m_callStmt.close();      }    }
    Afterwards, I have read this note in a Pointbase document:
    To invoke the dateConvert external Java method from a stored function, you must use the
    CREATE FUNCTION statement. The dateConvert external Java method is called from the
    class, SampleExternalMethods.
    In order for the database to access this external Java method, the class SampleExternalMethods
    must be included in the database CLASSPATH. For PointBase Embedded - Server Option, it
    must be in the Server CLASSPATH, but not in the Client CLASSPATH.
    If PointBase Server is run with the Java Security Manager, in the java policy file grant
    ’com.pointbase.sp.spPermission’ to the class that implements the external Java method.
    An "spPermission" consists of a class name with no action. The class name is a name of a class
    that could be used in creating a Stored Procedure in PointBase. The naming convention follows
    the hierarchical property naming convention and that is supported by
    "java.security.BasicPermission". An asterisk may appear by itself, or if immediately preceded
    by ".", may appear at the end of the name, to signify a wildcard match. The name cannot
    contain any white spaces.
    I'm not sure, but I suppose that I must include the class SampleExternalMethods in a .jar file.
    The database CLASSPATH could be : C:\Sun\AppServer\pointbase\lib\
    These my files in this database CLASSPATH:
    pbclient.jar
    pbembedded.jar
    pbtools.jar
    pbupgrade.jar
    I have tryed to include the class SampleExternalMethods in pbclient.jar and pbembedded.jar with this command:
    jar -uf pbembedded.jar SampleExternalMethods
    Afterwards I do that,
    1) Start Pointbase
    2) Configuration of classpath
    set classpath=C:\Sun\AppServer\pointbase\lib\pbclient.jar
    set classpath=%classpath%;D:\J2EE\Ch07Code\Ch07_06
    I precise that my file SampleExternalMethods is into D:\J2EE\Ch07Code\Ch07_06\Ch07.
    Then, I run the program:
    D:\J2EE\Ch07Code\Ch07_06>java -Djdbc.drivers=com.pointbase.jdbc.jdbcUniversalDriver Ch07.SampleExternalMethods
    But I have an error message:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Ch07.SampleExternalMethods (wrong name: SampleExternalMethods)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass0(Native Method)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.DefineClass(ClassLoader.java:539)
    The problem, I suppose, comes from that the class SampleExternalMethods
    must be included in the database CLASSPATH, but there is a pbserver.jar with pointbase normally, but I didn't find it. That's why I use pbembedded.jar or pbclient.jar in order to include the class SampleExternalMethods. May be I must start from C:\Sun\AppServer\pointbase\lib\ instead of D:\J2EE\Ch07Code\Ch07_06\Ch07?
    Please, can somebody helps me?
    Thank you in advance.

    And I doubt you can recurse like that for embedded java. You must have a class that does the functionality and another class that creates the proc.
    Thank you for your response, I have done two classes:

  • ESB throwing error when invoking Stored Procedure

    Hi there,
    I'm using SOA Suite 10.1.3.4. I have an ESB service which stores orders from a IBM Maximo system(Procurement system) into Oracle database using stored procedure. I can insert the orders through the endpoint URL using the test client provided by SOA Suite ESB console. But when Maximo sends the orders i'm getting errors as below. I can also see that the input is null when called the procedure. But in the instance of the ESB Console i can see the Payload sent by the Maximo system. Not sure where and why the payload disappears before calling the stored procedure.
    I have been battling on this for couple of days. Any help on this is much appreciated.

    I doubt JPublisher has anything to do with this issue as JDeveloper is the tool used for SOA Development. The issue here is with the process that gets invoked by maximo. It is not populating the data correctly, and nulls are being sent to the adapter. When nulls are sent this causes issues in the code because it cannot initilise varrays in the stored procedure.
    Therefore the fix is to sort this issue out is to stop it sending nulls, if nulls are valid form the maximo system then the stored procedure needs to manage these. This can be done by setting defaults for the inputs.
    cheers

  • Calling a stored procedure before row update without using triggers

    I have got two tables Main Table(Table1) and History Table(Table2), whenever an update is done on Table1 i want to insert the old row before update to Table2, so that i have history available for that record.
    My doubt is
    how to refer to old value (values b4 update) in a stored procedure?
    how to call a stored procedure b4 every row update(on the database side as we do with tiggers)?
    I want to write a stored procedure where in i will insert the old row values ( value b4 update ) to Table2.
    Any Help would be great....

    sample code calling procedure before insert:
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new someDriver);
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(driver,uname,pword);
    CallableStatement cs = conn.prepareCall("{call procedureName(?,?)}");
              cs.setString(1,userName);
              cs.registerOutParameter(2,Types.VARCHAR);
              cs.execute();
              success = cs.getString(2);
              PreparedStatement pstmt = conn.prepareStatement("insert into sometable values(?,?)");
              pstmt.setString(1,userName);
              pstmt.setString(2,password);
              pstmt.executeUpdate();
              conn.commit();
              cs.close();
           conn.close();

  • How to create a stored procedure and use it in Crystal reports

    Hi All,
    Can anyone explain me how to create a stored procedure and use that stored procedure in Crystal reports. As I have few doubts in this process, It would be great if you can explain me with a small stored proc example.
    Thanks in advance.

    If you are using MSSQL SERVER then try creating a stored procedure like this
    create proc Name
    select * from Table
    by executing this in sql query analyzer will create a stored procedure that returns all the data from Table
    here is the syntax to create SP
    Syntax
    CREATE PROC [ EDURE ] procedure_name [ ; number ]
        [ { @parameter data_type }
            [ VARYING ] [ = default ] [ OUTPUT ]
        ] [ ,...n ]
    [ WITH
        { RECOMPILE | ENCRYPTION | RECOMPILE , ENCRYPTION } ]
    [ FOR REPLICATION ]
    AS sql_statement [ ...n ]
    Now Create new report and create new connection to your database and select stored procedure and add it to the report that shows all the columns and you can place the required fields in the report and refresh the report.

    Hello,
    There is a document explainining how to use Oracle stored proc with Crystal reports.
    Check at:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/1084c536-711e-2b10-e48a-924a60745253
    It is for older version but it should work and you can refer to it to get general idea how to start with it. It has a sample oracle stored proc and how to connect it from Crystal Reports.

    Hi abishek,
    My scenario is basically JDBC(SQL Server)XIJDBC(ORACLE)(Synchronous)
    XI pick the date field from JDBC Sender and goes to ORACLE Database and selects records based upon the condition, and response back and put this data into JDBC(SQL Server),
    My process successfully upto receive the response from ORACLE system and after response mapping also successful.after that  response message is insert into SQL Server.
    In SQL server we have two tables,one DATA table and LOG table, If insert the data into DATA table successfully LOG table updated with DATE and STATUS field not successfully insert LOG table update with DATE and Error status field.
    So I impleted "stored procedure" in SQL side.
    Any way i solved that error.
    I am using below XML structure with out table field,i followed below blog.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/9618. [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]
    My stored procedure name is: XI_SP_KDATA_KLOGDATA
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    - <ns0:MT_DB_SELECT_REQUEST_response xmlns:ns0="urn:pg-siemens-com:POCA0013:sample1">

      <ADDRESS type="CHAR">Bangalore</ADDRESS>
      </XI_SP_KDATA_KLOGDATA>
      </Statement_response>
      </ns0:MT_DB_SELECT_REQUEST_response>
    But again i faced one error in Communication channel
    Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Error processing request in sax parser: Error when executing statement for table/stored proc. 'XI_SP_KDATA_KLOGDATA' (structure 'Statement_response'): com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Procedure or function XI_SP_KANLOGDATA_KLOGDATA has too many arguments specified.
    My doubt is above error is Stored procedure error or XML Structure error?
    Don't hesitate to clarify me.
    Thank you.

  • JDBC Sender adapter - Oracle - Stored Procedure - Error

    Hello,
    Need few clarifications on JDBC sender adapter and stored procedures when connecting to Oracle DB.
    My scenario is, Oracle to SAPBW. So in sender JDBC adapter, we have used a SP having multiple SQL statements it, esp. one of the SELECT statment having Joins on a table and View.
    My questions are,
    1) Is it possible to have more SQL statements in SP for Sender JDBC?
    2) Is the SP of Oracle DB returns resultset or cursor?
    I have tried in searching the forum perticularly for connecting to Oracle as Sender and below like said  that there is a limitation of XI JDBC when connecting to Oracle.
    Executing an Oracle Stored Procedure from Sender JDBC adapter
    So please clarify the doubts and help me.
    With regards,
    Jilan

    Hi Jilan,
    Unlike what was mentioned in the link given by you that oracle returns cursor and not resultset is not completely true. It may be difficult but certainly not impossible.
    Refer : http://www.enterprisedt.com/publications/oracle/result_set.html

  • Creating a Dashboard with Stored Procedure

    Hello Experts
    I have a doubt. I'm starting to develop Dashboards for SAP b1.
    How do I pass a parameter for a procudure and can operate in DashBoard?
    I am using the example below, where the procudure brings the total billed a certain seller.
    Ex: Exec Dash03 (SELECT T0 [SlpName] FROM OSLP T0 WHERE T0 [SlpName] = '[% 0]')

    Hi SumanT
    I've never used the ITD (not sure how it works). Today I want to integrate the Dashboard to SAP Business One, and for this to work, it is necessary that within SAP B1 there is a query that results to feed the DashBoard.
    I tried using a variable to receive the name of the seller, and then pass the variable to the stored procedure, but still did not work out.

  • Help me in calling stored procedure and getting results

    hi
    i have a SP like this
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE P1 AS
    TYPE g_con_ref_cursor is REF CURSOR ;
    TYPE g_con_error IS RECORD
      error_code NUMBER,
      error_desc varchar2(2000)

    and i now i am trying to call this SP using my java program
    i am able to register the out put params for 2nd and 4 th variable
    my doubt is how i can register the output param for g_con_errorand how i can get result from this ????
    my java program is like this
    Connection connection = DatabaseHelper.prepareConnection();
    CallableStatement proc = connection.prepareCall("{ call P1.PROC_CURSOR(?, ?, ?, ?) }");
    proc.setString(1,"jn26557");

    You have the requirements to build the stored procedure, what have you got so far?
    Post your attempt and any errors or issues that you might be experiencing. Writing the whole procedure for you (without the table structure even) is going to be difficult.

  • ** JDBC Receiver - Oracle Stored Procedure - Large Records - Performance

    Hi friends,
    In my File to JDBC scenario, I use Oracle SP. I designed my target structure as mentioned in help.sap.com. In this scenario, the Sender file sends large no. of records, we have to update those records in the Oracle table. As per this requirement, I did mapping. I tested one file with 4 records. In SXMB_MONI, mapping works fine. I have given below the target payload. The message is processed successfully. (Still I have not created SP in database I am unable to check for the updating of records in the table).
    My doubt is
    1) Whether the target payload is correct ?
    2) For each <STATMENT> tag, Will XI establish connectivity to JDBC and update the record ? If it is, in real time if we send large no. of records, ex: 50 thousand records, performance isssu will come or not?
    3) How to solve the problem as said in point 2. (LookUp procedure etc)
    Kindly reply friends. (If you  have faced this problem ... kindly reply how to solve this issue)

    Hi,
    The structure should be -
    <MsgType Name>
    <StatementName>
    <storedProcedureName action = "EXECUTE">
    <table>
    <List of Parameters isInput = "true" type = "STRING">
    Map the table node to the stored procedure name.
    Also,
    For each statement, XI would make a database call. For better performance, do not check the button in CC - Open a new connection to database for each message.
    Also another solution would be, collect all the data in the mapping to a comma or a pipe separated string in the mapping and have the statement node created only once. This way, though you have 5000 records, they all will be given to the SP in one DB call. you can also manage the mapping so that you will not send more the the X number of records to database in a single call. We are using an XML created in code in an UDF for this. The SP has to take care of stripping the comma or pipe separated values or the XML sent as a string input parameter.

  • Getting resultset from stored procedures..

    hi all,
    i have got some very fundamental doubts regarding Oracle Stored Procedures and calling it from java.. i want the resultset to be returned from sp and for that i used to following sp and java code.
    package
    ====
    CREATE OR REPLACE package
    curs_types as
    type EmpCurType is REF CURSOR RETURN emp%ROWTYPE;
    end curs_types;
    procedure
    ======
    procedure
    single_cursor(curs1 IN OUT curs_types.EmpCurType)
    AS
    BEGIN
    OPEN curs1 FOR SELECT * FROM emp;
    END single_cursor;
    java code for calling sp
    =========
    String sql = "{call single_cursor(?)}";
    CallableStatement cstmt1 = con.prepareCall(sql);
    cstmt1.registerOutParameter(1, OracleTypes.CURSOR);
    cstmt1.execute();
    rs = (ResultSet)cstmt1.getObject(1);
    while(rs.next())
    {  String empno=(String)rs.getString(1);
    and it worked properly but the problem is i dont want all the fields from the table emp..i mean, if i change the query inside the sp from "select * from emp" to "select ename,empno from emp" then that sp is showing compilation errors.. is it possile to return a cursor from sp that contains specific fields ??
    wat is the procedure to return a cursor that contain datas from multiple tables ???
    can any1 help me with this ??? plz mail me on [email protected]
    thanks in advance

  • Cursor flow in a stored procedure

    Hi All,
    I am new to stored procedure. i just have a little doubt.
    i have created a stored procedure that will do the following.
    a cursor will be opened for some select values (select table2.col1 c1, table2.col2 c2, sum(table2.col3) sum1 from table1, table2 where some_constaints)
    later on, inside a for loop i am updating table1 columns with the sum selected from the previous select.(update table1.col1 = sum1 where table1.col1 = c1 and table1.col2 = c2).
    So my queries both Select and Update will include table1. (So i am selecting and updating the same table).
    what i want to know is when we open a cursor(OR when we fetch data from cursor), will it execute that select statement and stores that result into a temporary storage?
    OR will it fetches the data from the actual tables.
    i just want to know how a cursor works.
    Please help me.
    Thank you.

                          AND VOUCHER_ID = DIST.VOUCHER_ID
                          AND VOUCHER_LINE_NUM = DIST.VOUCHER_LINE_NUM)the update:
    UPDATE VOUCHER_LINE
    SET TAX_CD_SUT_PCT = UP
    WHERE BUSINESS_UNIT = BU
    AND VOUCHER_ID = ID
    AND VOUCHER_LINE_NUM = LN
    the first one selects values by joining VOUCHER_LINE and DISTRIB_LINE for some where conditions. and we need update the VOUCHER_LINE only for those, which are selected from the select query.
    I have replaced those two(select and update) queries with single query as follows. but it needs same same select statement execute twice(which i have).
    UPDATE PS_VOUCHER_LINE LINE
        SET LINE.TAX_CD_SUT_PCT = (SELECT TAX_CD_SUT_PCT FROM PS_DISTRIB_LINE DIST

                                                     AND DIST.TAX_CD_SUT_PCT <> 0
                                                     AND DIST.DISTRIB_LINE_NUM = ( SELECT MIN(DISTRIB_LINE_NUM)

         WHERE LINE.SUT_APPLICABILITY IN ('S','U','D')
            AND LINE.TAX_CD_SUT_PCT = 0
            AND EXISTS (SELECT 'X' FROM PS_DISTRIB_LINE DI WHERE LINE.BUSINESS_UNIT = DI.BUSINESS_UNIT
                                                      AND LINE.VOUCHER_ID = DI.VOUCHER_ID
                                                      AND LINE.VOUCHER_LINE_NUM = DI.VOUCHER_LINE_NUM
                                                      AND DI.TAX_CD_SUT_PCT <> 0
                                                      AND DI.DISTRIB_LINE_NUM = ( SELECT MIN(DISTRIB_LINE_NUM)

                                                                                                        AND VOUCHER_LINE_NUM = DI.VOUCHER_LINE_NUM)
        )if i don't put the EXISTS condition there is a danger like following.
    every line VOUCHER_LINE will be updated either with valid value(if the subquery(bold one) returns something) OR NULLs(if the subequery does not return any thing).
    If the sub qery does not return any thing It must keep the old value for the field TAX_CD_SUT_PCT. That is why i want to try it in stored procedure.

  • Is BC4J a viabl option for database with stored procedure (ref cursor) API?

    I'm about to begin a Web application development project. As foundation, we have a (Oracle) database of certain complexity that have a data access API developed with PL/SQL packages.
    This API is designed to get data through stored procedures/functions that return REF CURSOR.
    Personally I have been investigating about Oracle ADF/JSF, and a number of others J2EE technologies, and at this moment I am doubting if ADF BC are a viable option to my development team.
    I think this because I have noticed that one of the great drawback in ADF BC is the lack of simplicity to get data through stored procedures/functions that returns REF CURSORS.
    I have been looking for documentation and the only thing that I have found are two examples:
    1.- One that really do not work (fails in get data from ref cursor): ADF BC StoredProcedure Sample application.
    2.- And other published by Steve Muench in
    http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2003/03/03/gettingAViewObjectsResultRowsFromARefCursor.html. This sample works fine.
    But, the problem with the approach of this last article is the amount (and complexity) of the code necessary to make so basic and recurrent operation as is "obtain data through a stored procedure (ref cursor)".
    Below it is the code that I have constructed to call a function that returns a ref cursor (based on steve's article).
    If this is the only way to make this (historically so basic and simple) task, then it is obvious that BC is not a viable technology to my (or I am in a mistake?), since we have about 50 stored procedures/functions to access the underlying data; that stored procedures/functions are key to development of the new application (and, still more, currently are used to anothers apps ).
    By all this, I would like consult to Oracle's people:
    1.- I really must reject BC as technology to implement this project ?
    2.- It is possible to access stored procedures in a simpler way using BC?
    3.- If the answer to 2 is NOT: in near future, the BC team has plans to give more support to the simple access to stored procedures?
    4.- If the answer to 3 is NOT: what another technology you recommend to construct my data access/business tier and still be able to using the others characteristics of ADF?
    Thank you very much for your guidelines.
    Regards, RL.
