Downgrading BI7.0 Queries to BW3.5

Hi Experts,
I have created some queries in BI7.0 query designer and now my client wants me recreate those in Bw3.5 version due to some technical compatibility issue.
So, can anybody let me know is there any program/FM/method to downgrade the BI7.0 queries to BW3.5 version which can avoid the manual rework?.

Rakesh is right.
This is not possible, there is no program, FM, ... for that.
The only way is restore the Backup, if exist a backup.
Or, you will have to recreate all queries with Query Desginer 3.x again, unfortunately.

Hi,
We went to BI7.0 upgrade from BW3.x now.
We are getting short dump short dump while executing few queries and work book, which has got created on Infoset.
When i was executing work book where i was geting popup message saying that "Erro ZSD_XST_F00121 is invalid".When i click that message it went to dump.
I was getting this error while executing query on infoset.
We are currently SP Stack 13(Patch level 15).
I found some note 1067918 as per the shortdum,where it is saying that you need to apply SP Stack14(patch level16).
Please some one who had earlier this kind of issue.

We too faced the same issue on Infosets.

REQUEST STATUS YELLOW WHILE MONITOR STATUS GREEN - BI7

Hellow,
I try to load data with 0CO_OM_OPA_1, 0CO_OM_WBS_1 into Z cubes which are similar to the business content cubes 0OPA_C11 and 0WBS_C11 respectively.
ETL is BW3.5 (transfer rule and update rules). When I look at the request in the monitor, I see that everything is green but the request status is yellow and not available for reporting. I can change the status to green manually but this is not a good solution for me.
By the way the same load works well with te standart cubes.
I use BI7 but I use BW3.5 business content.
What could be the reason for such problems?

We have exactly the same proble. Have you found a solution to it? I'm using Datasource 0HR_PT_2 to load data into Infocube ZPT_C01 (a copy of 0PT_C01). The monitor of the infopackage is green. There are no errors whatsoever. The status for the request in the Infocube>Manage is set to yellow and the data is not available for reporting. I can set it manually to green, but as you said yourself, it'd be nice to have an automated wway of doing this. Is there any way around this problem?

BI upgrade: abap menu role, url format conversion ?

hi all,
I'm upgrading from BW3.5 to BI7.0.
In BW3.5 abap role I am using menus wich include BW3.5 queries. URL format for query is like <bsp_protcl>://<bsp_server>/sap/bw/BEx?...
The system gets upgraded in BI 7.0. Abap menu role still have the URL format for the query (like above). I would like to have the new BI format wich is like <prt_protcl>://<prt_server>/<bi_launcher>?...
Is there a way to make URL format mass conversion ?
There are thousand of queries in abap menu roles, I do not imagine this has to be changed manually ...?????

You could write a short SE38 program against the AGR_BUFFI table on the URL field:
Replace <bsp_protcl> with <prt_protcl>
Replace <bsp_server> with <prt_server>
Replace sap/bw/BEx with <bi_launcher>
Replace VARIABLES_CLEAR with CLEAR_VARIABLES
Replace DATA_PROVIDER_ID with initial_state=VIEW&initial_state-view
Keep in mind that you would not want to automatically convert entries that reference a 3.5 Web Template, or a table API.

Actions to do In BW&ECC to enable ECC Upgrate (SP12)

Hi all ,
I would like to know what action must be done to enable ECC upgrade. Because we find some error messages.
I head somethings about Delta & Set Up Table to delete.
I already done these actions :
In ECC:
Delete all in SQM1 & SMQ2
Delete ALL in RSA7
Delete SET up Table (LBWG) : 03, 04, 11, 12,13 (used in BW)
Delete ALL in SM13
And SP12 is still blocked !!
Is there a SAP best practice or doc about That ?

Migrating queires and web templates

Hi All
We have just upgraded our front end and are now thinking about converting/migrating the queries and web templates etc.
1: We havent done our dataflows yet as we will do these later. Does anyone know of any possible problmes of dojng the queries/templates but not the datalows?
2: Does anyone have a 'best way of doing the queires and templates...eg. what order?...All at once? ...One by One?
3: What are the tools to convert them all in one go for web templates and queries

BEx 3.5 with SAP GUI 7.10 missing + sign expanding InfoAreas

I am running SAP GUI 7.10 (patch 5) with BI 7 Addon (patch 3) and BW3.5 Add-on (patch 2)--all are the most current available at this time. The client PC's are XP, Office 2003 SP3. Also, to fix another error, I installed Office KB907417 per SAP Note 1025122.
This problem only occurs when launching BEx Analyzer 3.5 via RRMX from the BW GUI, regardless of a BI7 system or a BW3.5 system. If BEx 3.5 is opened directly via Start, Programs, Business Explorer, then the problem does not occur.
The problem itself is that when selecting queries by InfoArea, the plus sign to expand the InfoArea is missing. I am unable to highlight an InfoArea either. However, if i click on one, although it does not highlight, if I use the + sign on my keyboard, it will expand. Similarly, I can use the minus sign to collapse.
This problem also occurs when selecting workbooks by role, and in Query Designer, when trying to expand dimensions and InfoObjects.

Our message was escalated and SAP (Walldorf) has responded that this is a "well known" issue that will be fixed in SAP GUI 7.10 SP8, due out in late May. It should be available at the following link at that time:

Copy and Migrate query from BI 3.x to 7.0

Hello Experts,
We are going through the upgrade right now.
We have BI 3.x server and we are upgrading it to BI 7.0.
Now we have nearly 3200 queries, we want to copy those queries from BI 3.x to BI 7.0, and then we want to save it in BI 7.0.
So we will be able to keep the back up in BI 3.x.
As i have told you, we have lots of queries, so practically it is not phisible to go to BI 7.0 browser, open each query and save as with some different name.
Is there any other way for this?

You can open and edit queries from SAP BW 3.x with the BEx Query Designer from SAP NetWeaver 7.0, as required. However, as soon as you save a query, it is stored as an SAP NetWeaver 7.0 query. Queries from SAP BW 3.x and SAP NetWeaver 7.0 are stored in the same tables. Only the version information is adjusted as required.
Once you process and save queries with the BEx Query Designer from SAP NetWeaver 7.0, you can no longer open them with the BEx Query Designer from SAP BW 3.x. The queries are still displayed in the open dialog for the BEx Query Designer from SAP BW 3.x, but cannot be selected.
The reusable components of a query (structures, restricted and calculated key figures, variables) are also saved in the new version; this can result in dependencies to other queries. Likewise, these dependent queries can also only be opened with the BEx Query Designer from SAP NetWeaver 7.0. For information about eliminating these dependencies, see SAP Note 884629, which provides details about restoring temporarily stored queries
I am not sure but I heard that basis persons Can do migrate all queries from BW3.5 version to BI 7.0 at a time.Consult those persons you may get some idea

Process chain triggered twice

I have a triggeed a process chain twice.
The flow of the process chain is like this:
from PSA to ODS full load----
from ODS to Cube delta load.
There is selection criteria at infopackage to ODS with createdon.. ie for ex: if we run today, the from date is sy-datum-2 and to-date is sy-datum. We ran the process chain twice on the same day and the selection is same for the full load to ODS.
Please suggest is there any impact of this.

Are you using the BI7.0 flow or BW3.x data flow?
What is the time duration in which the PC is triggered 2dn time?
How many times the PC runs in your system per day?
loading data till DSO with full load will not cause any issue as the DSo will over write the records, comming to delta load from DSO to IC -- first time the delta records will be updated and the next run if at all if there are any delta records then those records will be uploaded or else it will transfer 0 records.
I don;t thik there is any problem in your case.

Hierarchy authorization pbm in BI7.0 with Front end of BW3.5

We have a problem regarding authorizations for the hierarchies in BW7.0
We have migrated from BW3.1 to BW7.0. Authorization are OK in our BW3.1 server, the authorization on hierrachy work well.
Current Issue (in BI7.0) :
An authorization object for XCOMPROD for a hierarchy 'ZMAT_HIER'.
There are 2 queries which have variables of XCOMPROD & ZCOMPROD in selection criteria, ZCOMPROD has variable of type 'Hierarchy node'
I've a test_user which has authorization on Product Group 5 (one of the nodes in the hierarchy-ZMAT_HIER).
When i run the queries independently with this test_user, the user has access to Group 5 only, which is correct.
When i run a web template report with any one query (from the 2 queries), the user has access to Group 5 (as in first case) - correct.
However when i run a web template report having above 2 queries together, the authorization fails, as user gets access to root node (instead of only Group 5).
FYI, we're using BW3.5 front end (no PORTALS) with the OLD authorization concept (of BW3.1). Not 'Analysis Authorization' as in BI7.0.
Looking forward to an explanation/solution to the above.

All the queries will work if the peratining objects exists in the warehouse. Other than this there aren't any spl measures that actually needs to be taken care to while running the query on BI 7.0, to my knowledge.

2 Queries within 1 workbook in BEx BI7.0

Hi Experts,
I know that there is a new method of creating a workbooks in BI7.0 using the Design Mode.
Suppose I have put 2 queries within 1 sheet in excel (one on top of the other). I did this by inserting 2 analysis grids within the same worksheet.
When I try to drill down the query on top, the area it occupies expands and completely overwrites the query at the bottom. As such, the bottom query disappears.
Is there a setting somewhere which will make the system adjust the position of the query at the bottom in this scenario?
I remember that with 3.x, when you insert 2 queries within the same worksheet in the workbook and you try to do a drilldown, the system would ask if you want it to overwrite or adjust the affected query area.
I am trying to look for the same functionality in BI7.0 workbook creation.

Can't see system list in BW3.X/BI7.0 BEX Analyzer logon window

I used to be able to see our different BW system list in the logon small window when trying to open a query from a BW3.X/BI7.0 Analyzer which should be the same system list for SAP Logon screen.
But my computer was infected by virus that the operating system has to be reinstalled and then I have SAPGUI 7.10+Add-ons with SAPLOGON Customizer installed and I can see the system lists in SAP Logon screen. Then I have reinstalled BI7.0 BEX, but when I run either BW3.X Analyzer or BI7.0 Analyzer and open query, the logon small window pops up with a blank system list.
Any idea on how to make the system list show up in the logon small window when opening query in BW3.X/BI7.0 Analyzer? Maybe I need to have SAPGUI 6.40Add-ons with SAPLOGON Customizer installed first before I have SAPGUI 7.10Add-ons with SAPLOGON Customizer installed?

Have you copied the inf file from another system and copy it to windows system directory?
You need to have that copied or you need manually each and every system using the server name and System ID

Some features of BI 7 are
1. In Infosets now you can include Infocubes as well.
2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
3. The BI accelerator (for now only for infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accl is a separate box and would cost more. Vendors for these would be HP or IBM.
4. The monitoring has been imprvoed with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal !
5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
6. Transformations are in and routines are passe! Yess, you can always revert to the old transactions too.
