Download folder via ftp?..

Hi.
Please, help me in such question:
I have to write application that connect to server via FTP (hm.. may be not only FTP if you can suggest another way..), then download special folder (I know folder's name), and then delete this folder on server.
How can I make it?
May be, you can give an example? :)

I assume by your question you haven't searched.

  • Document Updates in a folder via FTP considered Publish Points?

    Hello,
We currently have a website that is deployed via IIS that we are planning to move to Azure Web Services.
This web contains a folder in the web site directory that contains files and documents for users to download. The site itself contains code that manages the files, and presents specific files to specific users.
Throughout the month, these files and document gets updated (additions as well as replacements); even though the website does not get updated.  Users use FTP to transfer files into current folder on the IIS server.
    The issue we are facing:
My concern is that updating documents in this folder via FTP does not create a publish point (and considered as dynamic changes) and if the site is re-deployed or scaled, the document changes are not picked up.
Can anybody confirm that: If we use FTP to update documents in this folder, Azure Web Services will recognize this as a Publish Point?
Thank you.  Your help is very much appreciated.
    PCR.

    Thanks for the reply.
I confirmed that we are using Azure Websites.
We had a previous website with a similar situation where the website contained a folder with documents (pdf, doc, and xls).  Files were added into this folder periodically.  Then one day we noticed that a number of files were missing.  When
we researched the problem, we were led to believe that something on the back end moved the website to a different server, and used a previous instance of the website.
Our web development manager thought he found an article that stated that we should not keep dynamic files within the website structure.
It would be great if this is no longer the case (or that we are mistaken in our interpretation).

  • Downloading patches via ftp

    Hi
I found these instructions for downloading patches via ftp...
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-3331/6miuccqni?a=view
(Under section entitled "Example—Downloading and Applying a Signed Patch by Using ftp")
I tried to follow these, but cannot see a signed_patches directory?
Is this old method only relevant to Solaris 8 - and if so - what is the Solaris 10 equivalent method of downlaoding patches via ftp?
    Regards,

  • Difficulties downloading content via ftp from some web sites

I'm having difficulties ftp'ing content from some web sites when using my Airport Extreme (802.11n) base station. The AEBS is running firmware 7.3.2, is connected to a cable modem, and is configured in NAT mode.
The inability to download is independent of any web browser, OS platform or FTP client). Here's what happens:
    For the following url: http://ftp.support.veritas.com/pub/support/products/NetBackupEnterpriseServer/305408.pdf
    downloading with Safari gives:
The error was: “unknown error” (NSURLErrorDomain:-1)
with Firefox: it just hangs the browser, no display
    with command line ftp:
421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection.
You get the idea. Windows has similar problems, so it isn't limited to the Mac OS.
Other FTP sites work fine, and things seem to work fine when the system is directly connected to the cable modem. This has happened for a while, so it isn't limited to any recent Mac OS X Leopard updates. It's just gotten terribly annoying.
Is something in the AEBS trying to interpret ftp protocol responses from servers while in NAT mode (and breaking them) instead of passing them through?

  • Cannot download files via FTP

I have internet connection on a MAC machine. I am trying to download a driver from HP's website using safari internet browser. I get the below message every time:
Safari can't open the page "FTP://FTP.hp.com....". The error is: "Unknown error" (NSURLErrorDomain: -1).
Actually am new to Safari... any help?
    Thank you,

If this is still giving you the same result, and I am able to download from both links, this suggests something in your connection or with your installation of Safari (I used Safari and that was OK). Have you tried with another browser?
If that is successful, then the Safari settings may need looking at. If not, the network settings may be awry.
What DNS settings are you using? (See System Preferences> Network> Advanced. If these are automatically entered by OS X (usually the router), try Open DNS: 203.144.207.29 and 208.67.222.222 (these are what I am using).
Do you have another account you could try in? That might narrow it down to network or the user account version of Safari. You might also try to set up another Location (network settings), entering the details manually rather than duplicating.
As for FTP, Macs will also have no problems with FTP, so I am sure it is not platform specific, especially as I did download the driver from that URL you gave. 2MBPS should be ample.
Now this is odd. While I was able to open that page yesterday, clicking on the link in the message gave me the same result as you. However, if I go to this page -- http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us &prodNameId=445195&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=445194&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEn vOID=219 -- and click on the Download link lower down the page, that does work properly.
    Curioser and curioser.

  • Upload via FTP with JSP

I have an httpdocs folder and I want to update files to this folder via ftp from my jsp pages, anyone has some class or Bean that would do the trick?
    Regards

I have a bean, FTPBean (and a mating FTPException class) that will work for you. It's got Javadoc comments so it should be pretty easy to figure out.
This code is OLD (I mean like 10 years old) and is based on another older piece of code (I believe it was named Linlyn or something like that) that was floating around for YEARS.
There's quite a bit of code so pasting here probably isn't a real good idea. I've gone ahead and placed a ZIP file with the two classes in it at http://www.lamatek.com/documents/FTP.zip. They're packaged in a net.foamtapes.beans package, feel free to do whatever with them, repackage, modify, whatever.
    HTH.

  • Apple Downloads via FTP?

Can I dowload Software Updates and other Apple downloads (like Safari 3) via FTP? Where I live (overseas), I have to pay .30 USD per megabye for http, but ftp is free.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Safari is currently at version 2.0.4 and not available for download. Updates to it come together with operating system updates. 3 is just a beta. You can always submit beta bug reports to http://bugreporter.apple.com/ Perhaps you want to suggest they offer it via FTP download through a beta report?
Switch internet providers. There is no cost difference on most internet providers. Obviously some have hoodwinked the public into believing you have to have a metered rate. You don't. Almost all internet service providers in the U.S. are flat monthly rates.

  • Problems uploading big files via FTP and downloading files

I've been having problems uploading big files like video files (.mov 12MB) via FTP to my website (small files like .html or .doc I can upload but it takes longer than usual). I'm using Fetch 4.0.3. as FTP. Same problems when downloading files via Bit Torrent. I recently moved to Spain, since then I seem to have the problem. But my roommate with a PC doesn't have that problem. Connecting to internet with Ethernet cable also didn't resolve the problem. I also tested it from a Starbucks coffee connecting to Internet from there but still couldn't upload that 12MB file to the FTP. The security settings for firewall are set to "allow all incoming connections". I didn't change any of my settings so I don't know what the problems could be. I have a MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.7) Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Much of what is available on Bittorrent is not legal, beta, or improperly labelled versions. If you want public domain software, see my FAQ*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/macosxnative.html#NATIVE
for search engines of legitimate public domain sites.
http://www.rbrowser.com/ has a light mode that supports binary without SSH security.
    http://rsug.itd.umich.edu/software/fugu/ has ssh secure FTP.
Both I find are quick and a lot more reliable than Fetch. I know Fetch used to be the staple FTP program, but it grew too big for my use.

Don't offer rewards for assistance; you'll receive help with or without the offer.  This topic is an FAQ; FTP is no different than any other transfer method.  Search the forum for PDF conversion code.  Also, the function you're using has a 99 page limit for conversion; you may want to view the function parameters and account for that.

  • Uploading iWeb site to personal domain via FTP client (NOT .MAC)

    Hello,
I want to upload my iweb created website to my personal domain, in other words I do not want my domain to point to my .mac address.
I am downloading Cyberduck as my FTP client. Will I just send my whole "site" folder to my public folder at my personal domain? Will it be in the right order? How will I update each day? (Can I set up iWeb so that when I click "publish" it will update my personal domain?)
I was planning on using some wordpress plugins to modify my site. Will this work? I am totally lost, I had no idea I needed so much background info to blog outside of .mac! I guess I just want to design with iweb, and be able to use all the tools of my AN Hosting and wordpress.
Thanks for your help in advance!

Will I just send my whole "site" folder to my public folder at my personal domain?
You send the folder created by iWeb which has the same name as you gave your site inside the iWeb app, plus the index.html file which iWeb created alongside that folder.
How will I update each day?
By publishing again to a folder and uploading again via ftp.
(Can I set up iWeb so that when I click "publish" it will update my personal domain?)
No. If iWeb could do that you would not need an ftp program to start with.
I was planning on using some wordpress plugins to modify my site.
No idea, but generally speaking modifying iWeb to add stuff requires manual editing of the html after publishing and redoing it every time you republish.

  • Oracle Linux 6 u3 Installation via FTP

There is a need to install OS (Oracle Linux 6.3) via FTP. The installation process started fine, but after I'd finished with partitions layout and hit "next" on the window displaying "boot loader operating system list", error appeared.
the error: "Unable to read package metadata from repository. This maybe due to missing repodata directory. Cannot retrieve repository metadata(repomd.xml) for repository".
Ftp shared folder is OS iso file itself.

What you are trying to accomplish is creating a local mirror of the software distribution. If you can't download from a mirror and you have the install DVD, copy the complete content and structure to a locally hosted HTTP or FTP directory.
As already mentioned, you need to specify the path to the root of the installation from where you can browse the "repodata" and "server" directory.
You can see what the installation is looking for by opening the repodata directory and analyzing "repomod.xml". This will show you the relative path and filename including the primary.sqlite.bz2 file.
Make sure all your files and directories in the installation root have world read and execute privileges (chmod -R 755 /install dir) and make sure your ftp server is setup accordingly providing the right FTP_HOME and permissions. Also, what is your FTP server, does it support Unix filenames or translate them?
You can probably try another machine use FTP to connect to the installation source and see if you can navigate inside the directories and get the files.

  • Help with uploading site via ftp

I managed to upload the web site via ftp in dreamweaver.  The problem I am having is there was an existing site already on the server.  I thought when I "put" the files for the new web site it would overwrite the existing files when it "put" the index.html file.  All of my files were uploaded, but when I go to the web site url the new site files do not come up, only the old files.  If I type the extension of /index.html the new site files come up.  Can anyone help me figure out what I am missing?  I need my new site files to come up when they type in the url without typing /index.html  Thanks.

    What's the web address?
Is there more than one index file in the root folder on the server?
    e.g. index.htm, index.html, index.php etc
Have you cleared the browser cache? Your browser may be showing you files stored in its memory rather than downloading fresh files from the server.
Although DW should overwrite old files on the server, it's good practice sometimes to consciously delete what you don't want to avoid filename clashes.

  • Mail.app prefs. fail to change location of Downloads folder.

I recently migrated my mail from Eudora to Mail.app (Mac Pro, OS 10.6.8). I usedthe Mail.app Preferences to change the location of the Downloads (i.e. attachments) folder from the default location (Users>Library>Mail Downloads) to the subfolder in the OS Downloads folder that I used in Eudora. Despite this my attachments still end up in the default location. Help please!
As an aside I would be running straight back to Eudora were it not for the death sentence pronounced by the absence of Rosetta in Lion. Here are some comments that I recently posted to the TidBits newsletter where there is an excellent article by Adam Engst on making the changeover to Mail.app:
The major surprise for me was how really crude the Mail.app experience seems after 14 years of using Eudora. The way Mail handles mailboxes has been a source of major frustration. With Eudora I found it convenient to create separate Eudora Folders for my three accounts, each accessible via an alias of the respective settings file in the dock.  That way I could locate an item that I need much faster than when the mailboxes (and their subfolders) for all three accounts are crammed into a single sidebar - especially as mailbox folders enclosing subfolders will not open with a double click, precise clicking on the triangle is required.  The ability to access mailboxes from the Eudora Mailbox menu - drilling down through successive subfolders, if required - is vastly superior.  Similarly Mail's procedure for moving messages and/or creating rules is really primitive compared to Eudora's facility to create destination mailboxes as part of a single seamless process.  Given that development of Eudora ground to a halt in 2006 one could be forgiven for expecting a lot better from Apple's in-house e-mail client in 2011.

    Mike,
Where in the Sidebar to the Mail window do you see any Sent mailboxes? Is there one beneath the Inbox when viewing at home? Check and report the settings at Mail Preferences/Accounts/Mailbox Behaviors, please. If you have to do this when at home, I understand. There is a way to instruct Mail to use a particular folder for a particular purpose that probably needs to be done on the home computer, but I would like to know those preference settings before proceeding with that.
    Ernie
