Downloaded iOS 8.2 and now won't respond to code or turn on and off button. If pressed Siri comes on and says connect to internet. iMac can't connect to iPad either? With ios8.1 fiasco apple would not release another problem.

do not download ios 8.2 it totally destroyed my iPad 2 , and hour after the update it gave me a black screen with the date and the battery status and that's it it wont shutdown itune will not reset cause of the find my ipad

Thanks for the reply, good try, I thought of that myself and made sure of that this morning, but that is already all done, and as it happens, the contacts are exactly the same as in our other phone (3GS) which works perfectly, but the iphone 4 won't dial ANY local number, instead it tries to send an email. EVERY TIME. most frustrating. I am really trying to work out if there is a setting somewhere (like the area code etc) or if this is a warranty issue.

Open current iTunes on your computer. Connect iPhone to the computer with USB Cable. Follow directions or click the Restore button of iTunes.

I had to restore my phone and I was able to use the most recent backup. However, when I plug into iTunes, it keeps asking if I want to restore from a backup or start as a new iPhone. I have already restored from the backup twice, but the message won't go away. How can I sync with iTunes?

It's weird that you have to restore from backup, and then choose to start as a new phone. But I didn't lose ANYTHING when I did it that way! Thank goodness!

Try to force your phone into recovery mode. Disconnect it from the computer's USB cord. Turn it off if you can by holding the sleep/wake switch until you see the red slide to off. If you can't turn it off, please continue. Press and hold the home button while plugging it into the computer's USB cord. Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo. When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message. You need to restore.
Everything should be on your computer, so you can just sync it back.

Thank you for your reply, I did go to my general settings, but for some odd reason I don't have a restrictions setting, or a reset setting. I thought I could reset all the setting to see if it could be that, but as I said there aren't any.
My husband also has the iPad 2, and also did the software update and hasn't had any problems at all. I took both iPad's and compared the settings thinking maybe there could be a setting that could have been changed when the update was done.

It appears that some iTunes Match songs appear grayed out when you try to download them to your iTunes library. If you haven't already, be sure to authorize iTunes on your iMac before downloading content from iCloud or the iTunes Store.
These steps can help you download grayed out songs to your iTunes library:
Resolve issues with iTunes Match - Apple Support
Songs containing DRM (Digital Rights Management) might not appear in iCloud, or might appear grayed out. This can occur if your computer is not authorized to play that content. Authorize your computer, then manually update iTunes Match. To find out what Apple ID your computer needs to be authorized with to play a specific song, follow the steps below:
Open iTunes.
Locate and select the song that you want to play in your iTunes library.
From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, choose File > Get Info.
In the Summary tab, find the Account Name field in the right column. Write it down.
Click OK.
From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, choose Store > Authorize this Computer.
Type in the account name from the Summary field and enter its password. Click Authorize.
From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, choose Store > Update iTunes Match.

If it is one year old minus one day it is still under warranty. If it is more than a year since you purchased it then yes, the warranty has expired.

Check the many requests about updating the iOS on the original iPad on these forums and you'll see that there are many iPads still working after three years. My iPad 2, which I had for over two years is still working well for my son in law who took it over from me when I bought a new one.
Given that there will always be a few iPads that fail early. Most of those will be covered under warranty. But some will fail after the warranty has expired and before the owner expected it to. I'm sorry to hear that you are in this category. Take your iPad to an Apple store and have it looked at. They will provide you with alternatives, one of which is to purchase a like model to the one that failed at a discount. You can then know your options and make the best choice for you.

Same as you would if you bought a pc; copy everything from your old computer to your new one. Then you can just sync everything from the new computer, as you did with the old one.
