Downloaded Mavericks, since, some email through Entourage comes in scrambled

Interesting... the email that I have been receiving since I updated the OS on the iMac, which I utilize Microsoft Office everyday, especially Entourage, has been scrambled.  Yet, what I just found out,  when I copy and paste to here so that you can see the scramble, it pastes in plain English (readable).  So I pasted to a blank word document and it also pastes in plain English.  Now, email that are from friends (typed in by them) come in scrambled, while email from businesses, adverstisers, and so forth are in plain English (not scrambled).
Scrambled = Corrupted

See if there is an encoding setting in Entourage. It sounds like it is displaying the text in the wrong encoding scheme. I haven't used Entourage, so I can't begin to guess if that is an option or where to find it.

  • I've been attempting to download Mavericks since last nightto no avail.  Is anyone else experiencing this?  How can I download Mavericks to my macbook pro?

I have been attempting to download Mavericks since last night to no avail.  I've clicked the Download  and the Install Apps buttons, but nothing happens.  It just sits there.  I thought it was downloading last night since it read "downloading," but after more than 3 hours of that, I realized nothing was really happening.  Today, I've been clicking the Install App button, but again nothing happens.  Is anyone else having this problem?  How do I get this new operating system on my macbook pro, OSX 10.7.5?

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.

  • Unable to send mails to some emails through wfmailer

    Hi All,
there is a request from client asking to receive mails which are not registered at application level
    there is a doubt here
are mail only sent to users who are registered at application level(in fnd_users) or can be sent to users even if they are not application users.
    situation at client end:
they have a local server(mail server) which is only accessible internally.
i have configured wfmailer for them and for all users who are registered at application level they are receiving mails
to some users they are not able to receive mails (these are not registered users)
but user says although they are not registered users few email addresses they are able to receive mails through wfmailer
is there a way to configure email address from back end or at application level
should the email address be registered at local server(mail server)
one more thing to ask can we configure wfmailer for  two instances for same mail server. or does it have to be only one wfmailer for each mail server?
are there any tables which gives such information?
please share any sql or note id for same
    environment:
    application:R12.1.3

  • "An Error Occurred" Downloading Mavericks

    Hi,
I am trying to upgrade my Mac from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mavericks 10.9.4. My problem is that I cannot fully download the file without an Error Message.
When I go to download Mavericks either from the Updates or Purchases window, it downloads 1.02 GB and then suddenly stops and gives the message:
"The application could not be downloaded. The application you tried to download could not be downloaded. Check your internet connection and try again."
Also, in red letters next to the download button it says:
    "An error has occurred"
Here are the de-bugging steps I have taken:
    Restarting the software
    Restarting the computer
Attempting to download Mavericks in Safe Mode through the App store (same result)
Clearing App Store cookies through the "Debug" menu
Resetting application through the "Debug" menu
Removing software application "Growl" per this thread's suggestion
Switching my internet connection from ethernet to Wifi with a different internet connection
    Downloading from Purchases window
    Downloading from Updates window
Downloading from OSX Mavericks page accessible on the "Features" page in the App Store.
Creating another Admin account and trying to download through the new account.
    System:
    iMac 27"
    OSX 10.6.8
    Build 10K549
    2.93 GHz i7
    8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    Software
    App Store
    Version 1.0.2 (63.1)
Any suggestions to what the problem may be?
    Thank you for your help!

  • Some emails are there when searching, but do not show up in inbox for mail account. How do we permanently fix that? This is dangerous for businesses that rely

    Hi, and thanks,
I noticed that many dozens of others have expressed the same problem with Thunderbird, but it still continues.
For no apparent reason, sporadically, some emails don't show up in the inbox list of an account, but are actually there. If we're told later that someone sent one, and if we do a search at that time, it does come up!
We rely on this for business, and wouldn't know to search if we are unaware that an email has come in but simply doesn't appear in the list. We have actually lost significant business $ on 3 separate occasions, from clients who have said they emailed us, but we never responded! (That's really bad, and even worse because they also won't use us any more.)
Obviously, we of course would not want to have to check with the webmail host when we have Thunderbird. So...., how can we permanently fix this problem so it never, ever occurs??? We used to use Eudora before switching, and this never happened.
Some blogs say to delete one of the files in the system to re-index the inboxes, but again, that would not be the answer, because we wouldn't know to do that, nor when to do that, since some emails, without a warning or clue, occasionally simply don't show up in the list at all.
Please let us know the permanent and complete fix for this ASAP.
    Thanks so much,
    Les Pock

Lers, I have used Thunderbird for the best part of a decade and have only once experienced something similar to what you describe and it was a corrupt database.
So lets just back up a bit.
If you want mail to flow without issue the first bullet to bite is anti virus.
    * Scanning of outgoing mail is a total waste of time and an added risk for no return. You anti virus already certifies your machine clean.
    * Scanning of incoming mail is of extremely limited value. Thunderbird does not allow scripts in email, so there is no bug that will junmp out and start running even if your mail is not scanned and it contains a virus. The exception to that is attachments. But they are not dangerous either, unless you try and open them. Even then your anti virus should be monitoring the temporary folder on your computer and blocking any attempt to write the infected file, let alone execute the contents.
    * Scanning of your mail folder likewise is of limited value, but is more than often the cause of mail indexes not being updated. These days anti virus program appear to scan everything. Every file as it is accessed and opened. Thunderbird often has quite large files to store mail, up to 4Gb is not all that uncommon. Anti virus program take about 2 minuted per Gigabyte to scan files. So it can be the case that the anti virus is scanning while Thunderbird is timing out waiting for access to the appropriate files.
To make things more efficient exclude your Thunderbird mail profile folders from on access scanning by your anti virus program. The folders contain NO executable programs, and a weekly scan along with the rest of your computer with Thunderbird closed should be more than adequate. Perhaps scheduled for1am Friday. Gives Friday to deal with anything found and does not interrupt your use of the device.
A similar exclusion can also be beneficial for other data storage areas (databases especially)
Finally look at what processes run on your computer. there aerew by default about 40 when it is new and over time this grows with almost every security, office or game you install until your computer is so busy running background processes to check if the latest versions of XXXX has been released that it becomes sluggish and performance on most things is degraded (That common nugget of Windows computers getting slower over time is TRUE, but a large part of that is added processes and security software which is actually reducing performance quite extensively.)
BTW right clicking a folder, selecting properties and the repair button rebuilds the index non destructively as deleting the files as you mention also looses tags.

  • Downloading Mavericks (and any app), Error "Distribution file could not be verified"

When trying to download Mavericks (any app actually), an error comes up in the App Store, "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed." I've tried clearing all caches and even starting in Safe Mode but nothing works.
This is what comes up in Console:

I've done the whole, delete the folders in /var/folders/ but it hasn't worked. I've also reset the App Store through the debug menu. I've booted into Safe Mode, and still nothing. I've also tried to restore permissions on my drive and that didn't work. Any other ideas?

Turns out it was a firewall blockage on our own network. Contact your IT department if none of the other cache-clearing fixes work I guess.

  • Has anyone else lost all information listed on "Notes" after downloading Mavericks!!?

Much trouble since downloading Mavericks. Some programs not running at all. All my Notes have disappeared. Any help with retrieving them, anyone?

I was running Mountain Lion...I have cameras in my home, and the App iVMS-4200 won't let me access my cameras anymore and unfortunately, iVMS does not have anything compatible with Mavericks at this time. I believe the Notes are gone since I did not have them backed up. Lesson learned: do not download anything from Apple until you back everything up.

  • Some emails will not export

Having big trouble with Mail in Mavericks.
Some emails and web inquiry forms will not go, not receiving some emails, cannot send some emails and connot use the Archive function.
In the case of cannot send some emails, the mail leaves my mac but are not received at the other end.

    Hi swiftflo,
If you are having issues with Mail in Mavericks, you may want to make sure you have updated to the most recent release. You may find the following article helpful:

  • I think I downloaded Mavericks a second time by mistake

I just downloaded Mavericks.  It went through quite painlessly but after the restart I noticed that there were already some updates.   In the purchased apps listing, I believe I mis-clicked something about a complete download insted of just updating it so I now have another Mavericks download waiting to be installed (took about an hour the first time and five the second!).  If I haven't installed it, can I just throw the download in the trash?

Apple are not here. This is a user-to-user support forum only.
    iCloud is free.
The only cost is additional, optional storage (paid annually) which cannot be purchased "by mistake" - it takes numerous steps and asks for payment details.
£70 is the cost for the maximum 50GB of optional extra storage.
Check your card payment statement if you can't remember whether you went through the purchase process and confirmed the purchase.

  • How will re-downloading Mavericks effect my Macbook Pro?

I downloaded and installed Mavericks on my Macbook Pro months ago.  It says its using the OS X Version 10.9.1.  I accidentally clicked to download Mavericks again while browsing through the App Store.  I currently have the download paused and I'm not sure what to do.  My computer is already running the system and I don't see a way to stop the download.  How will it effect my computer, if I let the download complete?

All that will happen if you let it complete is you'll get an application called "Install OS X Mavericks" in your Applications folder.  You can delete it with no ill effects.

  • Can't send email through airport extreme

Can recieve email through entourage using my airport, but can't send. This occurs only with my airport. I am able to send if hooked into another wireless network or verizon air card.

GerleMan, Welcome to the discussion area!
    There are two probably causes:
Your ISP is blocking the port used by Entourage to send mail and the ISP used by the other wireless networks is not.
    OR
Your ISP doesn't like OS X's default MTU seting of 1500. If this were the case it should also affect any large file transfers you try to make from your Mac to the Internet.

  • I have Office 2011 which includes Word.  Ever since downloading Mavericks, when I try to send a two-page word document, some recipients get only one page.  Also sometimes when I burn an image from iPhoto on to a disc, only part of the image appears.  Why?

I have Office 2011 which includes Word.  Ever since downloading Mavericks, when I try to send a two-page Word document by email, some recipients get only one page.  Also when burning an image from iPhoto (usually no larger than 1mb) on to a disc, only part of it appears.  It appears to have been magnified so that only a part of the image appears.  Can anyone enlighten me as to what is happening?  And how to fix it??

  • Can't send emails since downloading Maverick

Since I downloaded Maverick last weekend, I can not always send emails. Incoming and outgoing mails for one email account is fine, however for another email account, my outgoing often goes offline, although incoming stays online. If I leave it and go back it normally comes back, but it can be offline for hours and hours throughout the day. I am far from tech savy and this is the first time in 3 years having my Macbook Pro that I have had this problem. Anyone suggestions? Causing big problems for me!!

Check your Outgoing server settings and make sure all the fields are entered even when it says Optional.
Note: your Username is the full e-mail address.
If you're not sure, check your e-mail provider website for the settings.

  • Since the latest update to OX I have been unable to download the contents of some emails because pages does not support the font they are created in. Is there a fix for this?

Hi, since I installed the latest update on my Mac I have been unable to open the contents of some emails because it is saying that pages does not recognise the font. For example it is saying 'some features aren't supported, the font Calibri isn't available on OS X. It was replaced with TrebuchetMS' This means that I cannot open letters from my daughters school. Is there any way round this other than getting rid of this nightmare MAC and going back to Windows!?

Had the same problem; would have been nice if they had told s that we need an intel processor on our older Macs! I am up and running again.
