How to down convert iMovie HD imported in Full 1920x1080 to Large 960x540
I have a Canon HD camcorder which captures video in 1080i format. I have been downloading my movies in iMovie using the Full - 1920x1080 option instead of the Large - 960x540 option.
But now I am running out of space!!! Also I don't see a big difference in quality between the two formats.
I want to down convert all my downloaded movies to Large - 960x540 format ... Can someone tell me how to do that in iMovie. I have already deleted the movies in my camcorder. Help!I don't think that what you're trying to do is possible without reimporting the footage, which I understand is deleted. You can down convert to 540 on export without a problem from 1080, but you original footage will remain 1080.
The good news is external HDs are really cheap these days, so you can pick one up to store your footage with a very minor investment. Now you can switch to importing 540 as Apple recommends and you'll save a ton of space, and processing time, moving forward. As you've already seen, the quality difference is very minimal versus the space and processing cost. -

I have made a large promo dvd for an upcoming seminar and the national organization would like to put it on its website.
I broke it down into chapters so that it is not one long cumbersome piece, and visitors can watch just the parts they need.
On our local website, I was able to share to media and then use iweb to upload them in an album.
However, the national webmaster uses a different web program so I need to create the chapters as self-contained movies for her to download first from our downlload site. She says that the .mov files hang up when she's downloading and wants them as mp4.
How can I convert them?

Elizabethhello .... sorry it's taken me so long to return here ....
To separate it into chapters, I brought it into Final Cut pro, and marked the In and Out for one chapter, then exported just that selection.... as an mpeg4 (Quicktime conversion) . As one chapter was finished and exported (Self-contained movie) i moved the In and Out points to the next chapter, and continued along this way.
If you don't have Final Cut, then you should be able to do the same in iMovie: import the whole movie, then select the portion of the movie that belongs in one chapter, drag it to the timeline, edit as necessary (fades, etc) then export (Share) that chapter. Repeat for each portion of the movie you want to isolate. When you export/share, you can choose the option of size that you want it to be.

When trying to install Adobe Standard XI, it says, "Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. Steup will now terminate." I have a Pro trial installed but did not seed so much functionality so I purchased standard.
uninstall any acrobat and reader versions, if you have win os clean (Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs) and then install acrobat std.

I'd start off your troubleshooting process by deleting and redownloading the songs:
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.
Click on the Purchased link in the iTunes Store to view your previously purchased music.
Download your previously purchased song from this list.

I purchased Adobe Design Standard in June 1993 and have not downloaded it until now. when I click on the software on my account there is no download button. How can I download the software I purchased so long ago? I hope it is not money down the drain. Is there any phone number available so I can talk to an Adobe employee?
Which version of Design Standard are you asking about? I don't think any Creative Suite packages existed in 1993. I think the first CS came out in 2003.
