Downloading portlets and webpage portlet

hello,
i have two questions:
* is it possible to download previously developed portlets, and how? (from where?)
* does there exist a portlet which just simply displays a web page? for example i will just include the URL and the portlet will get the webpage and display it within the portal

I have tried to use iframe in jsp to capture the content of external URL(eg. www.google.com) and it works fine.
Besides, I just want to ask a question if the external site is down, the the iframe tag will return the error page from external web server. Is portal has some features to control the error page to be displayed( i mean the application can refer to specify error URL) when the exteral site is down.
Or any other good suggestion?

How can I pass parameters to remote portlet from local portlet?
For example, I add a remote portlet to the portla, some of the parameters set in the JSP portlets must be retrieval from the remote portlet, how to pass them to the remote portlet ?
HttpSession ?
HttpRequest ?
RenderRequest ?

There are two ways to do this (a) Inter-portlet communication, or (b)
Custom data transfer. Check edocs for more info.

Webcenter portlets and Apache - Portlet Consumer Error

Hello There,
I'm trying to use Apache (OHS) with my Webcenter Space Application.
So, I configure that OK like this tutorial: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_app_http.htm#
It works fine, but just the portlets stop to work when I access my application from the Apache's port (7777). The error message is "Portlet Consumer Error". If I change the port to the default (8888) it works again.
Any suggestion about what is happen?

Nothing.
You also need to configure OHS to the portlet producer managed server. Did you do this?

Officially this is a meaningless buzzword promoted by IBM. Portals are some sort of Servlet but IBM incapable of explaining how they differ from ordinary Servlets. Some speculate they are used to present a webpage with many services on it such as a search engine, and news that come from diverse sources. The user is able to dynamically configure the contents and layout of the page much like Netscape home pages

I am assuming you want to call another servlet (portlet)? That would be absurd to do .. You let the HTTP request and XML file to deal with the response of the portlet

Download issue in a portlet page

Hi,
We have the following download issue in the portlet: Download works in an expected way in a standalone application, but fails when trying to do the same from a portlet.
1. We have a blob column in a table (Oracle 10g db), and we have uploaded files into the blob column through the JSF page using Trinidad my faces application.(using JSF + BC4J) in Jdeveloper 11g
2. We have an another JSF page which would list files uploaded, with the file names being hyperlinked, so that the user can click on the file name to download the file.
3. When we try to download the file, it works fine in a standalone OC4J, but fails with the error in a portlet :
4. We have portletized the download page and deployed the entire application as WSRP provider enabled portlet application onto embedded Webcenter OC4J.
5. When we tried to download the file, by clicking on the file name link in the download page (which is part of the portlet), we ge the error as given below:
Is it an issue with the portletization ? Can you please provide pointers to resolve the issue ? Is it the same limitation as any portal application wherein for download, we need to go outside the portal, that means, we have to explicitly call servlet to flush the file content onto the outputstream ? If this is the workaround, then please let us know how this can be accomplished in the above scenario.

PDK portlet and JSF

Is there a way to use jsf in pdk portlets? Or a least does someone have experience writing some kind of wrapper provider for jsr168 portlet.

Have you tried one of the following (just toughts):
a) Just bundle the portlet-bridge-jsf.jar from Jdev (JDEV_HOME\adfp\lib\)
b) Use the JSF/Portlet Bridge from dev.java.net (https://jsfportletbridge.dev.java.net/public/Download.html)
c) Use portlets-bridges-jsf (http://portals.apache.org/bridges/multiproject/portals-bridges-jsf/index.html)
d) MyFaces comes with a portlet-bridge (http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/UsingPortletUtil)
e) Use Spring-Portlet-MVC (Springframework 2.0.3), and use JSF as the View technology
So, there are a lot of possible solutions out there, just have to find out, what helps you most. (I'M myself on the Spring-Portlet-MVC path, and hope that I get ADF-Faces working, somehow. All on Java 1.4 and on Oracle iAS10gR2).

When i select a pdf file for download in a webpage instead of automatically downloading the file and opening it using adobe acrobat I get a new blank window in the browser and it says done in the bottom left corner

when I select a pdf file within a webpage and click to download instead of getting the "download" window and the file automatically opening after download using adobe reader I get a blank webpage (in the same tab) and in the bottom left corner it says"done". No file is downloaded and if I click "back" I just return to the webpage containing the link.

Aha! The properties for the plugin file nppdf32.dll for Adobe Reader indicate the file is for Adobe Acrobat. This misidentification is then used by SeaMonkey as a label in the helper application list.
Adobe Reader 11.0.3.37: nppdf32.dll has version 11.0.3.37. This is the version in SeaMonkey's plugins folder.
Adobe Acrobat 7.0.8.218: nppdf32.dll has version 7.0.9.50.
As for having both Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat on the same PC, this generally works providing Reader is installed AFTER Acrobat. Reader is freeware, and I want to keep it current. Acrobat is purchaseware, and I cannot afford to keep buying upgrades or newer versions.

Struts Portlet and interMedia

Hi everyone,
I'm building a struts app portlet.
My portlet connects to a database schema, and in there I have a table with a column of ORDImage type.
I've been using the PDK Struts taglib for the tags that are not supported by Portal.
But I got to a point where I need to display the images I have in my database. Running the appllication outside Portal, I use the <adf:render> tag, which renders the images perfectly.
Using the same tag running inside Portal, doesn't render the image.
The <adf:render> tag renders a <IMG src="..."> tag. The reason why it works fine outside portal is understandable because the URL it puts in the src attribute is relative to the context-root of my app (I suppose).
Inside portal, it renders the exact same <IMG src="..."> tag, but Portal doesn't understand the URL inside src.
I have no idea if there is any PDK Struts tag that will do the trick, but I doubt it.
I'm clueless on how to point Portal in the right direction.
Any help, anyone ?

Performance Improvement between GDK and EDK portlets

Are there any performance improvements to be expected by migrating a portlet from using the GDK library to EDK library? Not looking at what GDK and EDK offers, more on whether we would improve the load time of a portal page if we change a portlet from GDK to EDK.....

With GDK, my pages inherit from "Plumtree.Remote.Csp.UI.Page" and under the hood, the context is created (SettingsManager) automatically. Apparently, this is not the case anymore with the EDK. Am I correct?
According to the EDK doc, I need to call "PortletContextFactory.CreatePortletContext(Request,Response)" for such purpose. Still correct?

The other more important change is that with the GDK, the language of the current thread is automatically set to the language passed by the portal in the "Accept-Language" HTTP header. This is not the case anymore, to my knowledge, and I found out that I need to insert this:

Two pages, two report portlets and parameters

Hi, seriously needing advice!
I have to sql reports which is in two portlets.
I have two pages, and one portlet within each page.
I wan't in page 1 the report 1 to have url links with parameter to open page 2 with results in report portlet based on param from portlet 1.
I have manged:
- Page one portlet has link witch opens the 2nd portlet correct, but not the whole page
- Page 2 can take the parameter I am after.
BUT: I can't "stitch" them together! Any ideas?
