DPM2012 upgrade to DPM2012R2, best route to take?

Hello
We are currently backing up our 8 node Hyper-V clusters with DPM 2012 SP1 with local SQL DB, running on ws2008r2 sp1.My goal now is to upgrade DPM to 2012R2 and preferebly also OS to ws2012r2, as well as using a remote SQL server. The remote SQL is already
up and running with SQL 2012 SP1 running on ws2012R2.It holds the SCOM2012R2 and VMM2012R2 DBs already, and I want to migrate the current DPM DB over to that SQL server and hook it up with the current DPM disk on a new DPM2012R2/WS2012 server.
What are the steps involved to accomplish that?
1.Backup the DPM DB and restore it on the remote SQL server.
2. Install ws2012r2/DPM2012R2 on the server.
3.Hook up the DPM disk to the server
4.Upgrade all Agents..
Am I on the right track??
Thx /Tony

  • Looking for the best route to take in setting up dvd

I'm new to this, and don't have time to make many mistakes... SOO I'm looking for advice.
We're setting up a DVD (duh) and it's rather complex. I'll try to explain it as clearly as possible:
1 - main menu - that links to 5 'sections' and a play all button.
2 - within each section, there will be a play all or 'clip' selection option. Each section will have approximately 5 to 12 clips ranging from 30 seconds to 7 minutes each.
    My questions are:
-- how should i set up each section? Do i keep all the clips as seperate clips? or do i create one big movie from the clips for each section and use chapter markers? or should i create stories for each section out of the individual little clips?
I guess i don't quite get how to do a play all in each section AND do a play all of ALL the sections -- the easiest.
Am i giving enough details for anybody to help me out on this?
Thanks for any help in advance!!!
    Powerbook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.8)
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Let's start again
1.) Add all the video clips to ONE track
2.) The first clip will AUTOMATICALLY have a marker added at its beginning
3.) Add a Marker at the Beginning OF EACH clip (but default it will be Chapter 2, then Chapter 3 then Chapter 4 then Chapter 5. You do this by clicking Above the time line
4.) take a look at this picture it shows these steps http://dvdstepbystep.com/STORIESDETAILS/03_SD.jpg, IGNORE the green and orange JUST focus on the Blue (the Green is audio so you should have one Green)
5.) Highlight the Track which is in the Green Folder in the Blue section here http://dvdstepbystep.com/layofland.php (the menu is highlighted in that image, you will have to move down)
6.) Click Add Story which is in the Red Section (also the green icon 6th from left in this picture) http://dvdstepbystep.com/STORIESDETAILS/03_SD.jpg
7.) You will see a story added in the track, the little green icon beneath the track icon to the left hand side here http://dvdstepbystep.com/
    STORIESDETAILS/05_SD.jpg
8.) Click on the story Tab at the bottom of the window as show here http://dvdstepbystep.com/STORIESDETAILS/06_SD.jpg
9.) Then drag the markers from the left hand side to the right.
If you drag Marker 1,2,3,4,5 into the right the Story will PLAY ALL
10.) If you just drag Marker 2 in for instance, that story will ONLY play section 2.
11.) Create a PLAY ALL story with all 5 markers.
12.) Create a Story for each section by ONLY dragging the marker for the section
13.) If you want to play from chapter 2 on, target the jump from the button to the Play All Story::Chapter 2

  • Best router for an older imac

I am thinking of upgrading my router. I do need wireless occasionally to stream music, but
usually I am wired (I have 3 computers)
For a few years now I have felt my router is substandard (its an older netgear router I think I paid $20 for)
What would be the best router?
Thanks for all info and opinions.
Ps. if anyone has any clues as how to speed up my cable internet that would help too.
Right now I am using Tinkertool pro to help with the speed.
My isp says I am getting 8mb but I dsl reports says 4mb.
I know that is not terrible but I like to tinker so to speak!
    thanks Laura

Most any router that works well with a Mac should be fine. If you don't mind the expense the best option is to buy an Apple router, but they are expensive as routers go these days. I've used numerous brands over the years and have had decent experience with a D-Link DI-524 which is a 4-port and wireless router. Although D-Link does not overtly support Macs many of their routers work quite well with Macs. You need to use your browser to configure them, but that's pretty easy to do. The price is under $60.00.

  • Need Advice on Best Router to Connect to Fios Actiontec M1424WR

From reading several of the postings I too want to connect a second router to my network to increase my connections speeds.  Currently I have fios 35/35 but of course I never reach such speeds wired or wireless.  So many routers are available but I want to make sure I purchase one that will do what I need.  What then would be the best router for me to use with this Actiontec.  I live in a 3 story home and my actiontec is on the top floor of my home.  Assistance would be appreciated.
    Solved!

Try a hardwired connection to see if you get the speed. No need to change the router out if you get 35Mbps or higher out. Even the oldest ActionTecs/Westells are capable of doing 100Mbps. If you're trying to get such speed on Wireless and have confirmed it's coming in, add an Access Point such as the Trendnet Easy-N Upgrader (Make sure your devices support Wireless N as well!) and shut off the FiOS router's Wireless or re-purpose it for Wireless G devices.

sky twitter account a customer ask why sky go streams are worst then sd and yet bt and eurosports apps stream in hd. Reply from mod, oh thats easy the files for hd are some huge that sky go can't play them and no app can stream hd due to this and so when they say they are they're really sd streams, if there was any way around this we would have done it now.

  • Best router for ipad?

Fine, everybody please tell me the best router that will get this thing working?

Any router will work. More powerful are obviously better (go farther, stronger signal, etc). I've used it at home, at work, in the United club, in the a medical office, etc. all with different routers. Takes a minute or two for it to find the WiFi, but then it's fine.

  • Best routing setup for a cappella recordings

I am a member of a Dutch a cappella group (www.intermezzo.nl) and want to record our vocals for a demo using Logic.
I'll be using one condenser microphone (C1) connected to a M-audio Projectmix.
I was wondering what the best routing would be for these recordings.
There will be quite a lot of doubling, so I will be using busses and/or aux channels
How can I best set up my arrange window? Please include tips for panning(should I pan each vocal of the same voice the same way or spread them), EQ, effects, channelstrips, bus and/or aux routing, master channelstrip setting etc.
    Thanks for all the help!
    G5 2.7GHz DP Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Thanks for the reply. This is already very usefull!
To make my recording situation a bit more clear, here's a scenario:
My group consists of four male singers, of whom one does some quite impressive beatboxing!
Normally we do our recording voice by voice, so we can edit in the mix without having spill into other micriphones. We use close-micing.
In the recording-stage we don't use any compression or reverb, since (in my experience) this causes latency in the monitoring (when I use software monitoring).
One of the demo's we want to record now is an arrangement of 'White Christmas" with a rap/beatbox twist in the middle...
This arrangement consists of four voices (bass, bariton, tenor and lead). Exept for the lead and Bass I was thinking of doubling the voices about three times in order to get a smooth sound. The reason why I don't double the lead and bass is because I think it will get too muddled. Am I right in thinking this?
I want to use some reverb etc. but is shouldn't sound too artificial.
The rap part though has to sound more procesed. Here a couple of tracks for beatbox will be added. What would be a good basic channelstrip-setting to begin with?
For the lead I was wondering what plugins I should use on the track, and what on the bus (and why...). What I now do is use a setting from the inserts and use no bus on the lead. With the other (backing)voices I use no insert on the tracks and use a bus where I take one of the inserts from the bus-channel (basically some vocal reverb setting).
I realize my question is quite complex and depends on taste... I am happy with any suggestions

  • Upgrade a wireless b router

    hi
i want to upgrade my wireless b router to a wireless G or wireless N, given the same internet connection (DSL), will the computer's perceived connection speed be faster?
    2nd question:
will a wireless G router plus range expander, or a single wireless N router have the larger range? I want to place the new router in a office building, meaning I would need the router's signal to go through several (8 or 9) walls throughout the first floor of the building.
    thanks

    1)  This really depends on your DSL Internet connection speed.  For example, if you have a 1.5 Mbps Internet connection, you will probably not notice any difference in your wireless Intenet speed whether you use a wireless b, g or n router.
However, if you have a 20 Mbps Internet connection, then you will probably find that wireless n works best.  Wireless b would usually be limited to about 3 to 5 Mbps.  Most wireless g can't do over 8 to 10 Mbps in a home environment.
    2)  It's hard to say what will work in any given environment.  Wireless g typically has a range of 30 to 100 feet.  A range expander might increase your range by 50%, however, it also reduces your transmission speed in half  (This is because a wireless range expander must divide its 54 Mbps bandwidth in two - half to receive and half to re-transmit).  Wireless n typically has a range of 50 to 300 feet, when used with a wireless n adapter in the computer.  When a wireless n router is used with a wireless g adapter in the computer, the range reverts to wireless g range of 30 to 100 feet.
To cover large areas, many users find it best to add one or more WAPs (wireless access points) to their network.  A WAP will need to be wired to your main router, however, it will provide the same wireless transmission speed as the router.

After upgrading to Lion, I went to open Mail and received the message that it needed to upgrade my Mail database - this may take a few minutes. The bar shows it is about 1/5 along and has been there for over 10 hours.
I tried quitting and starting again but it just jumps back to the same spot.

It is quite large, but I have tried two of the fixes suggested and things now seem to be moving along.

  • Windows 7 decide which route to take if THE PC Has 4 connection (4 X 1 Gig) available to internet

    Hi Network experts
realy i need you to figure out the below
1)how windows 7 decide which route to take if  THE PC Has 4 connection (add on 4 X 1 Gig)  available to internet , the route print on windows machine shows the 4
connection with same metric (metric 10) , the adapter order is as follows
    G1,G2,G3.G4
2)what about the less subnet id if each interface has less subnet id than other
3)the built in interface (gig 0) why have metric of 286 not 10 like others
    thank you all

    Hello.
As far as I remember, Windows uses ANY of the routes with equal metric.
I'm not sure if there is publicly available algorithm, but I believe it may switch from one interface to another if experience packet loss on the current.
So, the conclusion is: the outgoing interface is not predictable.
If you want any kind of reliability you would better to create port-channel and use FHRP on your routers.

  • What is the best router for mugs connectivity

i am looking for best networking institute in India, for optical networking please suggest, have heard about Networkers Zone (http://networkerszone.com/) , however needs suggestion and what is the best router for mugs connectivity.

For training on the Cisco Optical I would rrecommend Fastlane http://www.fastlane.si/ they would be able to fullfill your training requirements either in India or at another location even at the Cisco Factory in Monza, they can tailor courses to your specific requirements and also do switching and routing courses too, I have know one of the instructors for over 10 years they are very good.
As far as recommending the best router, that all depends on the application, not what you mean by mugs connectivity, I know what mugs is in English but not sure if thats what you mean or if it is an acronym for something else   in any case if you post in the router section of Net-Pro with your specific requirements I'm sure someone woule be able to help/advise accordingly.

  • Help - Best router for netflix streaming?

    Hello,
I tried a Netgear wrn3500 and Linksys 610n before buying an Airport Extreme.
I seem to get choppy video from netflix using the Airport Extreme than I did with the other two.
Can someone recommend the best router for Video and gaming?
I am using cable internet (Time Warner)
    Thanks
    Frank

If online gaming is the most important requirement, you will want to go with routers that support UPnP. All the major game console vendors support sites list compatible routers for their respective versions of online gaming access.
For streaming you will want a router with both Gigabit Ethernet (WAN & LAN-side) and offers 802.11n that operates in the 5 GHz radio band with wide-channels.
Finally, if you want to support both gaming and streaming at the same time, I suggest that you look at routers that can operate in both the 2.4 & 5 GHz bands simultaneously.
