DPS installing doubts

In my company we are going to learn DPS, but i don´t really know what we need. We use indesign CS 5.0 and I have installed the indesign plugin, Overlay Creator and Folio Builder, but I don't see the Adobe Digital Content Bundler.
Please, could you tell me what I need, and where install it?
Thanks

The content bundler is from the prerelease days and is no longer in use.
Your question leads me to recommend that you do some reading and watching of the tutorials on tv.adobe.com. A lot has changed since the prerelease days.
Go to Adobe.com and choose the downloads link on the top of the page.  Navigate to the folio builder tools and the folio builder panel.
If you still have prerelease tools installed you may have to uninstall them.

  • DPS and Adobe Packager for CC 2014 - Script doesn't finish.

I'm currently unable to deploy DPS to my InDesign users.  We distribute the Adobe Apps using Adobe Packager and JAMF/Casper.  For the most part, it works great.
However, DPS has always required some special work.  Following the instructions here: Deployment DPS Toolkit Update| AAMEE |Mac OS I've been able to get DPS installed just fine until now.
However, the latest version of DPS (v. 31.01) seems to have a weird quirk.  Simply put, the command and/or script never exits. DPS gets installed, but then the process just hangs.  The behavior is the same whether I do this directly from the command line, or with a script.  The only way to get out of it is to force the process to quit by hand, and then logout/login again.  Obviously, that's not really a solution.

Here's what we do.  We place the components of the DPS installer on the end-users machine in some secret place like /private/tmp
The script is a a pretty basic implementation of the command line <Path of DPS patch>/AdobePatchInstaller.app/Contents/MacOS/AdobePatchInstaller –-   installSourcePath=<Path of payload folder> --mode=silent
This is the exact command line indicated on the the Adobe webpage linked in my original post.  Of course, we replace "<path of DPS patch>" with the actual path.
The thing is, this behavior of not quitting happens regardless of whether the command is issued using a script, or if the command line is just entered in terminal.
Not sure what you mean about how long was our last deployment.  We're updating to CC 2014, and need to install the DPS patch for our InDesign users. This latest DPS Installer Application is being applied to a fresh CC 2014 installation.  Although annoying that DPS cannot be built with the standard CC packager, this scripted workaround has worked just fine for all previous versions of CC and DPS.

  • Root is running Sun One Directory Proxy Question ?

While i was installing the directory proxy server, i gave all root to own the files? Is Sun One Directory Proxy suppose to run as root or can i run as non-root user ?

You can (and probably should) run as a non-root user, assuming you're running on a port above 1024.
If you've already installed as root, and root owns all the files, the following should theoretically work:
    - Shut down DPS
    - Edit <dps-root>/etc/dpsDefaultConfiguration.ldif, and change the ids-proxy-con-userid attribute to the user ID you would like the server to run as
    - Modify the same entry in the directory server that holds your proxy's configuration information, like:
    ldapmodify -h config_dir_host -p config_dir_port -D "cn=directory manager" -w password
    dn: ids-proxy-con-config-name=<instanceName>,ou=system,ou=dar-config,o=NetscapeRoot
    changetype: modify
    replace: ids-proxy-con-userid
ids-proxy-con-userid: <same value as you put in the LDIF file above>
    - Change the ownership of all the files in the DPS install directory
    - Change over to the user that you selected and try to start the DPS process

  • Sharing Folio With Someone Via Email.

I'm new to DPS, and I'm creating a sample folio in order to see how it works.  The problem I'm having is that
the Folio articles themselves do not show up, i.e. no words and images as I see in InDesign.
Below is a description of what I did and what I see.
I created two articles and put them in one folio.  The very first thing I really want to learn how to do is how to share this with someone, especially someone like a potential employer, who may or may not have their own DPS or Adobe account.
So, I understand that in the Folio Builder there is a dropdown menu
on the top right corner of that window where you can select Share, and then enter in someone's email address.
I sent it to myself as a test, incidentally another email address than the one I have used to log into Adobe for my DPS use.
When I get the email, it contains a link.  The wording is like: MYNAME has shared the SAMPLENAME folio with you.
The email also has this line: To accept the invitation or access the folio in the Folio Producer web client, click on the link above.
So, when I click on it, it goes to a page on this domain: https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com, and
then loads this page with Digital Publishing Suite at the top.  A row of drop down menus and buttons, including a button named "Open."
Then it shows my SAMPLENAME folio in a row.
If I select the name of my folio, and click the "Open" button, it goes to a new page, with
Digital Folio Producer: Editor at the top, with SAMPLENAME next to it.  Then it has a row
of buttons and a slider for Thumbnail size. Below that are two drop down menus with
the names of my articles, SAMPLEARTICLE1 and SAMPLEARTICLE2.  Those dropdown
menus contain the options: Copy to...; Delete...; Lock; Rename...
I do not see my actual articles, words and images.  I do not see how to open these up.  I cannot find anywhere on the
internet, including in Adobe video tutorials, if anyone else has had this problem, or how to solve it.  Can anyone please help?

Bob, thanks again for responding.  I have to say though that I still need more clarification, or perhaps this is something that Adobe is not doing correctly.  In other words, can you pass this along up the chain, so that it is fixed, so that a team of engineers comes up with a better solution?  I'm talking about the regular sharing, not the "social sharing," which is beyond me as I don't have a pro or enterprise DPS subscription.
I need to understand exactly how I'm supposed to share a folio with someone.  I suppose that of the two evils, requiring an H.R. person to have InDesign with DPS installed on their computer versus having an iPad where they can download the free Adobe Content Viewer, then the ACV app is the lesser of two evils.
Can you please break it down into steps.
Such as 1.  Once having created a folio that I want to share I tell the person I want to share it with----go to
this web page: https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com/welcome.html, create an account.  Then, tell me the
email address you used to create the account.  Then, download the Adobe Content Viewer on your ipad.
    Then, sign into that account.
    2. I select "Share" from the dropdown menu of the folio builder, and type in the email address they used to
register with Adobe's DPS page, and perhaps include a message and send it.
    3. The recipient sees the email, and then DOESN'T click on the links inside the email.  They just understand----or I tell them----that they should ignore the link------and go to their app, where they will see an update button, and then
they update it and it downloads the Folio I've been wanting to share with them.
    Is this correct?
If this is correct, why is it not spelled out this way anywhere on the site, or in the tutorial video?
And also, if this is correct, does this not seem crazy?
What is the point of the email being sent, which has links in it, if the links are not to be clicked?
Why can I NOT------just as an example off the top of my head----export a Folio in a format that can be
read by a standalone Adobe Content Viewer, that any person can download from an Adobe page?
Like the way an SWF file can be exported from Flash, and then played by a email recipient via a
standalone Flash Player.  Yes, you either have to send them a standalone Flash player, or they
need to download it themselves, but I don't think they have to register to do it.  And they don't
need to sign in within Flashplayer.
First of all, asking a recipient to download and register their own Adobe ID (let's assume they are not a
graphic designer) is bad enough.  But then, in order to share it with them, I send them an email with links
    that don't work as expected.
    I've got an idea.
Let's say that some people you want them to see the Folio on their ipad, not be able to
edit it, just view it such as with the Adobe Content Viewer app.  And there are other people where you want
them to be able to edit it in Folio Producer at this domain: https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com
How about there are two different actions in InDesign to take for these two very different scenarios?
Are you telling me there is one method that enables both of these outcomes?  This same email that's generated
is for these two separate purposes?
Even the method for viewing the shared Folio which is to sign in, within Folio Builder which is within InDesign, doesn't require going to the email.  The email seems to be sent just as an acknowledgment that you enabled this Folio to be
shared with a particular person (identified by their email address).
In other words, if you just want someone to take a look at it, and they have Folio Builder and thus Desktop Content Viewer, the "Share" action could enable sharing on the Adobe website, but an email doesn't actually need to get sent to the person with whom it's being shared.  The links in the email will just confuse them.
So, the https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com page, found through the link in the email is strictly for editing it the Folio outside of InDesign--------but you cannot view it in your browser.  In other words, if you don't have InDesign, then you
can edit in your desktop browser, and you can view it on your iPad, but you cannot edit it on your iPad, or view it in your desktop browser.  Is this correct?
I think something needs to be done, this process doesn't seem elegant.  And there needs to be more clear explanation of this process outside the forum.

Running DPS 6.3.1 and using DSCC to request and install a ssl cert from a CA. I go to the certificates tab and click request ca signed cert. I get the cert request and use it to order my cert from vendor. I get cert and go to "add" and it installs. Problem...
I got this message during the request.
You must copy the request and send it to the Certificate Authority to obtain your certificate.
Warning Warning: One self-signed certificate has been generated. Once the requested CA-signed certificate is added it will replace that self-signed certificate.
But it doesnt seem to be replaced by the store bought cert. And the store bought cert is not listed in "certificates" but in "CA certificates" where the root ca certificates belong.

  • I accidentally installed the Digital Publishing Suite upgrade, and now DPS won't work with my CS5.5. Is there a way to get the previous version?

I have tried to re-install the previous version several times, but I still get the error message:
I even went to the originally downloaded extension & used it to install DPS, but that didn't work.

No. As that message states, DPS is no longer supported in CS5 or CS5.5. This was announced months ago.

Working at a newspaper, I'm having difficulty making a presentation made in Indesign and must be transformed in an application for Ipad / IOs.
That occurs in DPS consgigo generate the file .ipa put it nsao install on Device, getting the message "installing" all the time.
If I get the zip file and the xml of the person who generated the folios, as indicating that the DPS?
    grateful

In fact, it is listed in the devices profile file. The problem I see is the steps to production of an APP.
    Made as follows:
My friend created the folios in InDesign (with your login) on another machine. Provided in a shared folder.
I already have the contents of the application. From here, I believe he should publish through the Folio Producer and then I create the Application Builder IOs in DPS app in Title citing the Login ID he used to publish the content.
Hence, I believe that would only make the Download Device and see install  APP.
    Is this the correct sequence?
    Please.

  • Just installed DPS for windows cs6 and Folio Builder isn't working

I've just installed the DPS for windows CS6, but there are no options in the Folio Builder, yet i can create new Articles. How do i get the Folio Builder working?
Does it need to be connected to the internet? I work for a large organisation and have firewall restrictions limiting internet access from In Design, but thought i could work offline.
Any clues to what i might be doing wrong?
    Thanks

Yes, CS6 Creative Cloud on Windows 7. I also am running this on my old Mac Pro which is working fine. (I only run one at a time to avoid license problems).
Anything related to the "folio" is empty or functionless. I can see the Folio Builder and Folio Overlay panels, but nothing is in the windows. I installed the CS6 DPS tools as well.

  • Digital Publishing Suite Help | Installing DPS tools

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-publishing-suite/help/installing-digital-publishing-tools.h tml

    Bob,
The only way this works, even theoretically (as we haven't tested it) is to first set the metadata for Minimum DPS Version and then open up every layout in play previously checked in to the earlier Sprint version and delete the DP Artboards, reset them and re-check in all layouts to update them with the new metadata. With an average issue size growing upwards of 300 dossiers, this becomes an untenable workflow imposition. When we first tried setting this metadata based on Dennis Van Nooij's instructions it did not work. We must plan such metadata strategies up to 3 months in advance of the issue as that's when the creatives begin working on it. To ask them to open up 500-700 layouts in the "transition" issues between Sprint updates and recheck them in is unreasonable considering our tight deadline cascade. We must retain compatibility with NIM and Google Play embedded readers and these are always lagging behind a Sprint version or two. We are releasing a new custom storefront soon which requires R26 but our folios must stay at R25 and we are not sure for how long we will need to retain this compatibility so the number of layouts that must be redundantly touched by Art/Edit operators under tight deadline turnarounds makes this whole strategy very difficult. Woodwing and Adobe need to understand more deeply the impact of their strategic decisions on the actual workflows of the art depts at the publishers on the front lines. I don't remember having been consulted on this before the installers were pulled out of circulation. There are still many dynamic factors that deeply influence our ability to maintain a healthy and fully operational Woodwing/Adobe eco-system; the only way we have been able to maintain consistency and navigate around the many bugs in the software is to nail down our environment so we can control how the pieces behave. Adobe has pulled this control out from under us.

  • DPS Tools Version 31.0.1 for Indesign CS6 fail to install.

I'm trying to install DPS Tools Version 31.0.1 for Indesign CS6 however the installer says the update is not applicable. How can I install it?

Not sure if this was solved for you, but this is what I did...
    In terminal...
    cd /Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdaterInventory/1.0/
In there you'll see a file called: "AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat"
You may need to change the permissions...
    sudo chmod 666 AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat
    [ENTER YOUR PASSWORD WHEN PROMTED]
    then ...
vim AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat and change the 1 to 0 between the word suppressed, like this...
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <Preferences>
        <Suppressed>0</Suppressed>
Then kill all adobe software, relaunch photoshop and go to Help>Update. Shouldn't greyed about anymore.
    Does this help?
