DPS on Android

So I made my first DPS-based app, working fine and I'm happy. I made it on Ipad-based grid, and I want to publish it into the Android AppMarket. How does it work? Does the DPS pubilsh it automaticly into the AppMarket, or do I need to optimize the grid sized and publish it manually?
There is anyone with expierince in Andorid Publishing can explain here how does it work step-by-step?
Thanks a lot,
Yonathan.

Different platforms have different sizes. You can create a custom viewer for the android using the same iPad folio, but the content will be scaled, and some effects such as panoramas don't work on android devices. Read this article first:

If you create multiple renditions of the same folio for different device sizes, read this:

  • DPS native Android Viewer

I currently have an app in the iTunes store and am trying to expand into Android ( Google Play ) and am using the new web-based DPS native Android Viewer...
    1. Can my AppName be the same as in the iTunes Store ?
    2. Can my Bundle ID be the same as in the Apple Bundle ID ?
    3. In the library pane when I choose "Configure", the only options are 768x1024 - why is this. I want a PDF based solution that will scale to the users device's ratio... ??

    1. Yes.
    2. Yes.
    3. Ignore that section of App Builder. It's called "advanced" for a reason and you don't need to use it.

  • Minimum specifications of DPS for Android device

I would like to know the minimum specifications of DPS for Android Device.
I found the information for Android OS in this form,
Supported versions of Android OS are :
    2.3.x (Gingerbread)
    3.x (Honeycomb)
    4.x (Ice Cream Sandwich).
Are there any minimum specifications for Processer, Memory (ROM/RAM)...?
    shimoawazu

DPS viewers should run on Froyo (2.2) or later, and only on Android devices defined as Large or XLarge. Some people have loade viewers onto smaller Android devices such as phones, but doing so is not yet supported.
FYI, this article might help in understanding the differences between Android and iOS viewers:

  • Custom UI Text in DPS in Android Apps

    Hi,
Is there any documentation on how to customize the sign in button text for DPS Android apps like the one for iOS apps?
Customizing UI text in DPS iOS apps

This feature isn't supported with the Android or Windows viewers.

  • DPS on Android phones with v26

    Hi,
are Android phones (Samsung Galaxy S3/4) supported with actual v26 oder v27 viewers?
iPhone works perfect, but on Android, the viewer seems to work not properly..
Is there official DPS support for such small Android devices?

It's on the roadmap since a long time...
Do you have an idea when it will be available, because the market of the smartphones is much bigger than tablets?

  • DPS and Android

Where can I find the instructions to publishing to Android?
    Thanks,

You need a DPS Pro or enterprise license for this, refer to the following documentation:

  • DPS and Android Smartphones

Android Smartphones have greatly overtaked iPhone sales, but we are elaving all these Android device holders behind because DPS works only on Android Tabelts. I have been told that DPS would support Android Smartphones at some point.
Is Adoba able to share with us when that will be? It should be in the very near future!
    Please advice.
    Thanks

Hi Bob, thanks for that as short as great how-to on creating DPS Folios for Android devices (http://blogs.adobe.com/indesigndocs/2012/10/creating-dps-folios-for-android-devices.html).
I was wondering if there were any good news about DPS Android Smartphone support by now or if there will be in early 2014?

  • FOLIO DPS vers ANDROID

    Bonjour

  • Android and DPS

Sharing to social networks is possible for Android?? And push notifications? I feel that the development of the DPS for Android is a bit 'late.

Sharing is definitely something that we are considering. Push notifications are not currently on our roadmap.

  • Android slideshow/library banner issue

    Hi,
I'm updating my DPS legacy Android app to a native one. I'd like to maintain the offline/online banner mechanism that the legacy app had, so that I could change the online banner whenever I wanted.
There's a way to do that in the Store Configurator, using the Slideshow Entitlement Banner option. But when I'm testing the dev app, after uploading the zip file, the banner does not appear.
When I add a custom library, its banner appears, but there's no option to add the offline/online banner mechanism. Is there another way to add it?
    Thanks.

Can you send me your adobe id and password so I can take a look at the folios and how the banner is setup? You can use delu at adobe. Thanks.

  • Not seeing Amazon settings in the DPS Native App Builder

Did support for Amazon Subscriptions get recently pulled for the DPS Native Android App Builder?
It seems like last week there were two check boxes in the In-App Purchase page but now there is only "Enable GooglePlay in-app purchase".
    Thanks,
    Darrin

We aren't able to discuss the specific reasons behind the decision, but it was one that wasn't made lightly. You can still build a viewer that only does Direct Entitlement and run it on Amazon devices if you want, but be aware that we will not provide any kind of support for issues encountered on Amazon devices.

  • Professional account, Android

I have a adobe professional edition account.
Where I have published a folio for ipad and iphone (multi-issue viewer).
Now my customer also want the same dps for Android. (It will only be a few small changes to the Android version).
Can I use the same Professional account (licens) or must I obtain a new one for the android version?
    Regards
    Åke

    Thanks for the quick reply
I feel stupid but I have to ask:
Does not matter that I use another application account for the Android version?
How can the system know that it is the same publication?

  • The Future of Adobe DPS?

So whats going on with the future releases of Adobe DPS, what can we expect? There are certain aspects which are important for us and our costumers, and it would be good to knew, if Adobe is planing to develop in that direction? It is nice that Adobe is supporting Retina and iPhone 5 so fast, but in my eyes Adobe is loosing eyes on Android ...
So what can we expect? Will any of this cases be in future releases of Adobe DPS?
    - Android Smartphone Support
    - Android Pinch & Zoom for PDF
    - iPhone and Android Single App Support
    - Windows 8 Support (Phone and Surface)
    - Download Statistic for all Accounts in the Adobe DPS Admin Panel (today we have to log in with each account to get this statistic, it takes a lot of time)
Android Single App ... the Adobe support says its not coming because of security reasons. Give us the chance to choose for ourselves, free apps dont need DRM in my opinion.
    Greets

I'll answer the ones I can:
    1) Android Smartphone support: We think this is a very interesting platform, but our priority on Android right now is a better viewer for tablet devices. We need to fix that before we turn our attention to Android Smartphones.
    2) We don't support PDF at all on Android, but are actively working on it. We really want to see this
    3) Single Edition for iPhone and Android: It's under consideration for sometime in 2013.
    4) Windows 8: Phone is not on the roadmap (much to my chagrin, I love my Lumia 900!). We support our web viewer in IE10 today. A Windows 8 application is planned for 2013.
    5) Download statistics: Don't know about this one, sorry.

  • Custom library not loading on Android 4.1.2

it happen to me as well on android 4.1.2
downloaded zip file from DPS Configurator Android combined library and store.
uploaded the zip on the native app builder.
    installed on device.
Nothing happens I have a black screen. I use direct entitlement, and after I login, I can see the default library, but not my custom one with the banner.
    Thanks

(Branched out to new discussion, but sadly it didn't take all the replies with it. Silly forum software).
As we discussed in the other thread, check that the custom store files are zipped into the top level of the zip file and that your start page is called index.html. Make sure you haven't zipped the folder containing your files. The zip itself has to have all the files loose in the top level, not in a folder inside.

  • "Archive" and "View" buttons don't work after folio update

    Hi all,
I have a subscription to the professional edition and I have built a custom viewer app for Android. I have built about 10 folios and at first download all is ok, the folios are displayed without problems and the app works fine except for one issue: "Archive" button don't work, when I tap on it, near folio cover, nothing happens, the folio does not disappear from folios list.
But the serious problem occurs when I perform a folio update from Folio Producer ('Update content' from adobe dashboard DPS): both "Archive" and "View" buttons stop working, nothig happens when I tap tap on them and I am forced to uninstall and reinstall the application on tablet (.apk file) to see folio changes in my custom viewer.
This is very annoying as well as time expensive.
Tablet is Samsun Galaxy Tab SII with Android 3.2.
    Any help is appreciated.

To the best of my knowledge, the SII is a smartphone and not a tablet device, and the official claim is (correct me if I'm wrong) that DPS on Android is corrently tablet only.
Anyway, it seems strange to me so checked and found out that even though the DPS apps are not available when you search for them in the Play Market of a smartphone you can still force load them to the phone and run them.
I've done it on both a Samsung SIII running Android 4.0.4 and a Samsung GT-I9070 running Android 2.3.6 (I currently don't have a device running Android 3.2)
The interface is so small that it's hardly possible to use it, but it works.
