DPS Viewer for Android mobiles

Since we launched our publication on the IPAD and the IPhone, we have been receiving alot of requests from customers to launch the publication on android devices.
After doing some survey, most of the requests are coming from people with Samsung S2, Samsung S3, Sumsung Note, and Nexus 4 devices.
I did alot of research in the forum on the best way to publish to android mobiles but all I found was complicated workarounds which does not seem to work properly.
I would like to know what is the best way to target those devices going from my current ipad/iphone renditions. With the increasing popoularity of android mobiles this is becmoing more pressing than ever before.
Would really appriciate a direction, thanks

Thanks Bob, yea I have gone throught the blog post, it says though
"On iOS, all iPad and iPhone devices are supported. On Android, only Large and XLarge tablet devices are supported. Android phones are not supported. DPS viewers do not appear in the Google Play Store of Small and Normal Android devices."
So are devices like Samsung Galaxy SII ( 800x480 ) Samsung SIII 1280x720 , Samsung Note 1280x800, Samsung Note II 1280x720
considered as large or are they considered as android phones ?
Is there in any way a plan to do a simulator to show how would of folio be displayed on different resolution devices ?

  • Trouble with custom viewer for Android

Hello, I have created a Custom Content Viewer for Android using Viewer Builder 1.5.1. After building the Content Viewer I sideloaded, v15 Android.apk and tested it on a Samsung Galaxy tab. It shows the empty gray viewer with no content.
Is there something that I may have not done correctly with the android app? I want to test my viewer locally. I have uploaded folio with the same adobe Id, which I have used to create my content viewer but not able to find my content on tab.
I have professional account for DPS, how to get "Sign In" button for my Content viewer and test it before uploading it to Android market? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanx in advance
    Kundan

Got it. I tried booting with MOD_AUTOLOAD set to yes, and it was working fine. Looks like I needed to specify some more modules in my list.

  • Is Adobe DPS available for Android phone?

    hi~
is Adobe DPS available for Android phone?
The app is not founded in googleplay..

I encountered the same issue. You (in theory) would simply update the APK file. Find the AndroidManifest.xml
    right around line 42
    <supports-screens android:smallScreens="false" android:normalScreens="false" android:largeScreens="true" android:xlargeScreens="true" />
    change to
    <supports-screens android:smallScreens="true" android:normalScreens="true" android:largeScreens="true" android:xlargeScreens="true" />
    recompile, package, deploy.
NOTE: I have not been able to get this to actually work LIVE in the play store where I have had some success with actually putting it on my device. I can get the app store to say that it is compatabile on small/medium/large/xlarge screens, teasing me with joy prior to the error I get when I attempt to install that the item is "not properly signed". This could be something with the META_INF xml file, the version of JDK and apktools or jarsign I am using, I certainly dont know... yet, but after about 10+ hours I am fairly certain of one thing: Adobe does not want it working on small/medium screens.
    (perhaps for good reason...)
If I do come up with a solution I will post. As perhaps a feature request, would be great to have the following in the App builder:
    1- Advanced tab
A: allows us to manually enter the
    android:versionCode="00000"
    android:versionName="0.0.0.0.0"
    B: allows us to change
      <supports-screens android:smallScreens="true" android:normalScreens="true" android:largeScreens="true" android:xlargeScreens="true" />
    values.

  • Adobe Content Viewer for Android?

Anyone knows if the current version of the Adobe Content Viewer for Android is the final one? Some features that work in the iPad just won't work in the Sony Tablet S.
    Thanks in advance!

Installation works flawlessly. So far I've only been testing with the normal desktop preview. Now I wanna try the preview function for android (I think the previous version didn't work, right?) from the folio overlay panel but I cannot seem to find my Nexus 10 device even though I am logged in with the same account on both InDesign and the Nexus 10. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?
Nevermind I got it to work. But how do I update my folio once I uploaded it to the folio producer?
Also there's something that I'd like to achieve now.
The content viewer browser version (checked via whatismybrowser.com) is:
    Chrome 30
    Version 3.0.0.0
    Webkit 537.36
    The installed chrome is:
    Chrome 32
    Version 32.0.1700.99
    Webkit 537.36
The 32 version has WebGL enabled or rather it works better. By default only the normal WebGL features are enabled in Chrome. The experimental WebGL features (found under chrome://flags/) have to be activated manually. I suppose the WebM view of the viewer doesn't have these enabled. Can I enable these fancy features somehow?

  • Is livecycle rights management provide support for android(mobile) for protection and viewing file securely- interms of API/SDK or App?

I have gone through the rights management flow of Livecycle for microsoft office extension.
However, was interested to know about is there any app or SDKs supported by livecycle on mobile devices(android).
Case study of rights management shows that live cycle has deployed and offered solutions in mobile devices using SDKs. However, couldn't find any resources or documents regarding the same.

Ok, that means live cycle (in mobile devices) is protecting only pdf documents at this point of time.
So what about in the PC and MAC ? Live cycle has the capability to protect and consume/view office or other documents?
Also is there any plans to support files/documents(apart from pdf) in the android(mobile) devices?

  • Native Adobe Content Viewer for Android is now available!

The native Adobe Content Viewer is now available in Google Play for your downloading pleasure. Grab it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adobe.dps.contentviewer. The legacy air viewer is still available at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.adobe.contentviewer.
Note that in this first release your sign in will automatically expire after 30 minutes. We realize this is a bit of a pain but wanted to get the viewer out for people rather than waiting even longer to add auto-renew of the credentials. We’ll get this taken care of with our next update, due in about three weeks.
    Enjoy!

  • Adobe Viewer for Android Phone

    Hi guys,
The Adobe Content Viewer from Google Play (May 1, 2013) is both compatible and works fine on my Nexus 4 phone. We understand that adding the Android phone compatibility might cause poor app rating as the buttons/controls will be hard to tap on the smaller screens. But publisher could add these limitations to the app description. So my question is if support for Android phones could be added to the custom viewer as an optional feature checkbox, please.
    Thank you,
    Gennady

    Hi Gennady,
You won't see support for Android phones until we have our new, native Android, viewer available later this year.

  • ArchWiki Viewer for Android

This is something I mentioned a while back and I finally put it together.
The application is very simple. Basically it grabs pages from the wiki online, then replaces the css with my own, which is used to hide parts of the page that are not essential to the content. The result is a clutter free viewer for reading and searching the contents of our beloved ArchWiki. It is a dedicated reader as the full function of the wiki (editing, viewing changes, etc) can still be accessed through the standard Android browser. For the time being, it's (mostly) English only. However, I haven't figured out how to filter other languages out of the search results.
This is my first Android application and I intend to update it based on feedback, so expect frequent updates for the time being. If you have any input, please leave it in this thread or email me at the address listed in the Play store.
The source is available on my github.

    A couple things:
    1) The title bar is HUGE on a Galaxy Nexus (as is the font, comparatively - you can zoom in but not out)
    2) Dark CSS theme please
Very nice app otherwise.  (I'll test it on my old LG Ally if I can find the thing ...)
I'll look into the title bar. It should scale to the screen size, but I can see how it might be too big on smaller screens. (Most of my testing is done on Nexus 7.)
Not allowing it to zoom out further was intentional. I don't think it would be readable if the text was any smaller. Please tell me if you feel differently.
Dark css might be something that I look into down the road, but for now I want to focus on making the core functions work before I add any "unnecessary" complexity.
prazzb wrote:Why isn't page formatted to the screen...... much of the page on the right side is blank...why is it so
99% of the page content will be formatted to the screen size. Most pages don't have the white space on the side. The ones that do, for example the Beginner's Guide, have a portion of text formatted as "code" which never wraps the text by design. I'll play with the css to see if I can force it to wrap in a way that makes it clear that it's a continuation of the previous line. I'm not sure if it's possible though.
EDIT: Dumb. Of course this is possible.
Thanks for the compliments guys. If you like the app, please don't be afraid to leave a rating in the Play store

  • Making DPS Apps for Android

we have aPro account and are now considering publishing our multi-folio subscription app to the Android marketplace. My question is really about which Android devices should we concentrate on?
Right now my idea would be to focus on the KindleFire 7" (1280x800) and the Google Nexus 7". I feel as though this is a good first step to design and produce.
Should we also consider the larger devices? or is the sweet spot really the 7" tablets?
Would like to hear from others.
PLUS, is it true that Google Play limits your apps to 50 meg?
    Tom

It all really depends on your goals but for me, building a 1205x800 rendition got my app on the largest number of Android devices. The trade off is that on full frame devices, you get minor black space down at the bottom of the screen, but it means you only have to build once to get the same rendition of the Kindle Fire HD and the Nexus 7 along with many of the 10" devices. And even with the 1920x1200 screens (like on the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 your product will be readable, just letter boxed.
The 1205x800 gets me onto all the devices that I have users on (granted, not many people are reading via Android devices) without building four or five different renditions.
And yes, apps are limited to 50MB, BUT that does not count in-app purchases. Your issues are not limited to 50MB.

  • Upgraded to firefor for android mobile 8.0 and cloud printing stopped working?

After upgrading to firefox 8.0 on my android devices (phone and tablet) and intalling cloud printer 1.0.2 addon the cloud printing stopped working. When I try to cloud print I see my printers select the one I want and it says Print job added, but no printing occurs. I go to cloud printer manager and it says no print jobs. Cloud printing used to work on old version of firefox the on preceding 8.0. I know google cloud printing works because I can go to gmail webmail in a browser (not firefox) and print a gmail message via the cloud and it works. How can I get old version of firefox back on my mobile and why does'nt new version work?

Also Cloud Printer 1.0.2 is an addon

  • How do I disable the tab with 'Firefox for Android' advertisement ? It is freaking me out

Every time I open the Firefox browser, a new tab opens up with the ad suggesting me to try Firefox for android mobile. This is additional tab along with my regular home tab. My browser version is Firefox funnel cake 22.0 . It is freaking me out as this happens every time I open the browser. Provide me a solution or tell me to switch to a different browser. I mean who is the dumb idiot who suggested this idea ? Really ?? you want the add to stay there and irritate users everytime they open it ?

Try to change your new tab by going to about:config, and in that address bar type in browser.newtab.url, right click it, and then hit modify. There will be a window that pops up that will let you type in the address you want to show up in your new tabs. There also might be a warning when going to about:config, but just accept it if it's there.

  • Converting iPad publication for Android

I've developed iPad versions of digital magazines but now we want to make them available to the Android market.
I know Viewer Builder will create the Android app, but in terms of screen size/aspect ratio, how does that work? With different tablets having different screen sizes, is it just a case of designing in a safe zone so we can push it out to all tablets? Obviously, not many people will have the time or inclination to design at the right size for every available tablet...
Also, how is an Android app pushed to the Andorid Marketplace?
    Thanks.
